What do you want from the Note 8?
for me I need :
- battery that lasts a total of 7 hours of SOT At least at MAX Brightness (4000+ Mah battery)
I don't care if its Thicker.
- More S Pen Features
- Dual Camera Setup
- Preferably 6 GB Of Ram for Long Use.
- Less Smaller Edgey Design PLS Because The Edge Design is Pointless it distorts the screen viewing experience.
6GB of RAM is overkill unless you are running an emulator or virtual machine on your phone. I'm still not convinced that even games are making the optimal use of or existing 4GB of RAM. I'd prefer a better gaming graphics processor for console like quality
1)I will prefer flat screen like Note 5 (5.7' is comfortable for me But with 6.2' I can manage) instead of S8/S8+/Note7 As There are no actual benefits rather than look But more risky if device fails down accidentally
2)More Powerful Snapdragon Chipset i expect this time from Sammy (Unfortunately in my country samsung releases exynos variants/ Also on newer devices especially for flagships samsung prefer to use home exynos chipset) With better optimisation of cores available
3)Camera should be more crispy, Yup Samsung's camera is improving from S7/S7E But still on this price tag of 800-900$ Everyone will expect better camera with dual pixel camera/better camera sensor/aperture should be optimum/S8+ shooting modes should be available
4)Software features on S8 like bixby vision/bixby assistant/face or fingerprint gestures should be implemented on Note8 too With hardware features like Iris Scanner And Yup fingerprint sensor location should be front mounted Not sure about AOD but if battery is like 4000mAh then ok with AOD (S-Note Pin To AOD feature like Note 7 Should keep as like)
5)Design should not be oriented to S8( So that it should not look like S8 With S-Pen), Design should be flat, sleek, handy and premium
6)Display should be 4k infinity which is used in S8 (Images and Video quality on Infinity display is great by S8 user's reviews) But if it fails to optimise on Note8 regarding power/battery management (If different CPU is used than S8 as on S8 battery management and feedback is great like 7-8hrs of SOT with FHD resolution/AOD/Advanced Features On/Without PowerSaving Mode Enabled) then QHD or UHD Amoled displays are to be accepted also

Hi
I'm thinking about changing from a note 4 to a mate S,can some of the mate S user post their experience with it?
How is battery life, camera gaming performance is there any heat while gaming or watchung movies?
From a previous Note Edge user (very similar to your Note 4) - Keep the Note 4.
Here are the reasons:
Pros (for the Mate S):
================
Probably the best Fingerprint scanner currently on the market - both in terms of speed and accuracy
Design and build quality - mostly metal , nice finish, Gorilla Glash 4 with 2.5D glass
5.5" screen size and overall body to screen ration make the Mate S might be easier to handle than Note 4
Cons (e.g why you should stay with your Note 4):
======================================
Battery life is poor on Mate S and outstanding with Note 4
Mate S does NOT support 5GHz WiFi
Display is far better on Note 4
Camera is better on Note 4 with higher Res video capture modes and still pictures also look better
Quick Charging
True multi WIndow support - Mate S EMUI only supports limited applications in multi window mode
S-Pen functionality
Many case and accessories options including Wireless charging cases and extended battery packs
SAMSUNG brand usually have better warranty and more available spare parts in case of fault happening.
REMOVABLE BATTERY !!!
Performance is about the same (AnTuTu benchmark numbers quite similar)
There is more but I think It is enough.
My biggest reasons to leave Samsung is because of the updates and features that doesn't come to older devices like features of the s7 to the s6. I'm really really sick of samsungs updates always late.

I will buy maybe the OP4 or PIXEL 2 or Nokia P1 snapdragon variants for aosp roms.
Nokia P1 : Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6 GB RAM and 23 MP camera, QHD resolution display AMOLED, IP68 water and dust resistance
Pixel 2 : Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6 GB RAM and Dual Cameras, QHD resolution display AMOLED
OnePlus 4/5 : Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6/8 GB RAM and 21MP or 23MP camera, QHD resolution display AMOLED, a 4,000mAh battery
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just want to know what phone you gonna buy next time and why?
Well I just need that old Nokia 3310 again no one can compete with its battery life

Just some fun food for thought....
What attributes of what phones would make your perfect smart phone?
For me,
body dimensions, the height of a pixel 3, width of my old nexus 6p (dont like how modern smaller smartphones are more narrow)
5.5" screen & smaller bezels of the pixel 3
great front facing speakers of my old nexus 6p.
pixel 3s camera
specs & battery of the oneplus 6t
stock android
if I just described a phone that already exists, let me know lol
Give me a Sony Z Ultra with updated hardware.
Wait, isn't that what a Note 9 is ??
One Plus 6T is the best phone right now.
XIAOMI Mi 8 ?
Galaxy S10 maybe?

Its good value for the price but its far from perfect since Xiaomi cuts corners on hardware. The amoled display on the Mi8 is subpar for instance, and theres comon display issues like color banding, poor led backlighting etc. And theres always the luck of the draw issue with Xiaomi with some people getting better hardware.
The perfect smartphone :
5.5" borderless
B20 & B28
NFC
Fingerprint under screen
Face ID with the same or more secure than iPhone
A little notch for the Face ID and face camera
Please chinese constructor, create this smartphone (Xiaomi Mi9 )
Stock Android Phones are perfect
6” 18:9 1440p Super AMOLED Display
No notch, holes or curves in display
Front facing speakers as loud or louder the the G7 or Razer Phone
Bezels not to big or smalls. My hands wrap around those kinds of phones and mess up things.
16MP Wide angle and standard lenses front and back with Google Camera Port
In display finger print reader
Near stock Android with extra features like AOD
32bit DAC with, oh a headphone jack
Type C fast charging and Wireless charging
SD Card slot
Snapdragon 855 or newer
A large enough battery to power it all for a reasonable amount of time
What else...
To me it sound like the V40 and Pixel 3 XL had a baby
In my case:
No notch. Even if it can be disabled, it's still annoying to have initially.
Nothing bigger than 6" for screen size. My pocket isn't ready for bigger.
Decent camera. I'm not asking wonders here, just decent night shots.
Good battery life. I expect it at least live out 9 hours with intensive use(YouTube, games, etc) on 4G.
At least good mid-range CPU.
NFC.
Front-facing fingerprint sensor, can be under screen.
Capacitive back and menu buttons. Most if not all new phones lack this. I could live with gestures, but this is about the perfect smartphone for me.
Not required, but nice to have: Able to survive most short drops(no more than 30cm) without any damage.
For me, the perfect phone is:
a display no larger than 4.7 inches, this is best in my hand
good camera around 12.0 Mpix
built-in memory min. 32 GB
iOS 7 or newer operating system
For me the best phone I've ever had is Iphone 6s, light and comfortable and most importantly indestructible
For me the perfect phone is,
5.5 inch display of samsung
speakers of razer phone 2
Camera of pixel 3
Battery capacity of POCO
flagship processor
Build of an iphone
price of xiaomi
6" Screen
1440p screen
5g connectivity
dual band GPS
wireless charging
triple camera array
No phone is perfect every brand lags somewhere.
I have lots of mobile/tablet due to my work on mobile development.
Still iPhone gave the best UE imo. Now I'm trying the Huawei Honor 10, the design it pretty great.
Much better than Pixel. I'm not sure the very high end mobile for now, iPhone still being my main mobile since all my information was saved on iCloud.
Moviphone with hd
Build of an iPhone
Display of samsung
Battery like Nokia(3310)
Performance like Oneplus
Pricing like Redmi.
Camera like Pixel.
5" or 5.3" borderless display (no notch)
amoled screen with decent ppi
good camera with zoom, must shoot perfect photos also at night
good battery
good gps, must sync in max 2-3 s
android stock pre-rooted and without crapware
some additional physical buttons (to use with pbmc). Volume buttons like in LG G2 would be nice.
no lags, all apps must start instantly
iPhone XS max.
oh, here we go....
7" 16:9 3D (glasses not needed, similar to what vizio made years ago and 3DS) 4k (8k if possible) dolby vision screen with bezels so a thick and heavy duty case can go on it...
high megapixel cameras (with led flashes) with good lenses that have sliding covers to cover the lenses when not in use...
Dual large and clean sounding speakers with dolby atmos
ufs 3.0 1TB storage
16GB Ram
855 plus processor
clean install of android with root support
10000mah battery
usb c 4.0
3.5mm jack
hdmi out
capable of passing 3D out the hdmi to a tv or projector
LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 66, and 71
5G support
AX aka wifi 6 built in
I would be satisfied with all that
Not in English guys but interesting test

I'm switching from my current Mate 20 Pro to the 1/12 S10+. The main, and pretty much only reason is storage: as I need Dual SIM, I just can't expand my 128GB to anything more, unless I use something OTG-related. God bless this Hybrid SIM slot stupidity. I'll miss some great Mate 20 Pro stuff I guess, such as
- battery. I seriously doubt I'll get something better there, there are already voices around stating the S10+ eats battery like a mad when used with 2 SIMs
- IR sensor. Old tech, but so handy sometimes
- Face recognition. The S10+ is supposed to use something similar to what the Mate 10 Pro got at a later point, nowhere as powerful as the Mate 20's 3D facial recognition. The Mate 20 Pro detects my face even with zero light, the Mate 10 Pro didn't and I guess the 10+ won't either.
- I'm not a great fan of those ugly, giant, round Samsung icons, but themes are not that far away...

sounds like the Mate20 is a much better advantage to a s10+. Since storage is the only issue, have you considered cloud storage? I can't think what could take up 128gb, but then again I don't have big file sized games running.
I tested the phones, S10 Plus, Mate 20 Pro (I have it) and S10:
- Huawei display (boe) is more colored than s10 plus/s10 even on Vivid colors settings for Samsung!!! (for ex. S8 has more saturated colors)
- Camera: both cameras (front and rear) are much worse than M20 Pro. I took same pictures with both and compared on phones displays and also on 4K QLED TV Samsung/LG 4K TV. M20 Pro is the winner from far, I don't know how they get 109 points on dxomark.....Front facing camera got more details on M20 Pro, both phones on 0 Beauty Face Mode. Also the zoom mode is more detalied on M20 Pro. I didn't test the video recording.
- Speed: both phones are the same but the S10 plus was empty....

DXO is not a reliable source in my opinion, many people actually stated the same thing.
Even in unbox therapy, he stated that the selfie camera wasn't that great.
I've seen the s10 in the store and wasn't impressed, will try to test it more
As expected almost everyone is believing the hype from Sammy. It has been like that ever since until first adopters starts complaining here and there. DX0 rating means nothing to me and has never influenced my decision to buy the phone I want. S10-series punch holes looks ugly to me as well as those terrible looking icons. I prefer using the stock launcher all the time so those icons are an absolute turn off to me. They say EMUI is ugly but look at Sammy's latest UI its as if they are following Xiaomi's footsteps as far as UI design is concerned. No pun intended.
The funny part? Mine mate 20 x with many apps installed and working in background, was faster than demo GS10 with no app
I've seen videos where the S10+ battery is much much better than the M20 Pro.
But I share my concerns about the face unlock, it is one of the best features of the M20 Pro.

I never judge battery from those videos, as real world usage is quite different.
When i had my galaxy s7, a lot of the time, Android System consumed the battery and the SOT got worse with Nougat.
Never happened on the Mate 9 or 20 Pro/X.
I think the batery is almost identical,i have 7,5-8h sot in a full day of usage
Sent from my LYA-L29 using Tapatalk
Seems like there is a massive difference between the 855 and the Exynos S10 Plus:

I've done that myself. Don't know how much extra battery i get but it doesn't get so hot at least which is more comfortable.
The battery life is, (probably) the worst I have experienced in a new phone....

With root and just installing Franko kernel manager. Set the CPU's at your likings. Works like a charm.

I get 3-6 hours of SOT really depending of usage mix wifi vs mobile.
Can`t say it`s too bad, actually it`s okay for me, i.e. consistent more than 4 hours.
