Are the problems still a thing? - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hello!
Are those problems with dying motherboards or problems with touch input or any other still a thing in 2017 Mi5? Are there any revisions of this phone, so problem ocured on older ones or that's just nature of this phone and I can't be sure if my new one wouldn't die in any moment?

Services goes in and out

My tilt recently has been acting rather strange, and I'm not sure if its the radio or not. The phone keeps on gaining and losing signal, and cannot figure out why. At first I thought it might be a software problem, but I updated the rom to the newest official release and that did not fix the problem. Does anyone have a suggestion? The problem isn't reception, I've never had this trouble until recently, has always worked fine in this area regardless of weather / other.
not sure if it's the same issue...
I had the problem few weeks back..
my tytn would be having no signal at times..
I nid to go to Comms Panel and off/on the Phone.
after few days, encountered no SIM Card detected error.
hard reset and changing ROMs, including stock ROM didn't help.
now it's being repaired..
hope to get it back soon.
its horrible that you mention that, my warranty literally ran out about 5 days ago . However, based on the fact that I've done just about everything I could on the software end, I think it might be hardware (even though I haven't really even put this phone through any trauma whatsoever). The radio part of the phone....does anyone know which specific part that is? I don't remember seeing an individual radio in the disassembly, so I assume that it is on one of the boards. Does anyone know which one specifically?
mine was subjected to a few drops on the floor hehe..
but it was ok...
it was only recently that I encountered those issues...
if U can try get hold of the tytn II assembly/dis-assembly pictures, U might be able to remove the antenna pcb/board...
I only cleaned the metal connectors at the antenna board area.. no joy..

Tytn 2.... is it dying?

Hello,
I'm writing in order to ask you information about a problem with my htc tytn2. I used the search features and there are someone with a similar problem but it is not the same.
It is some days my tytn2 started to have the touch screen not working for a lot of time. then it can happen that it start to work again and few time later stop again for undefined time. the timing is fully random.
About during the same days also another problem started: when i call (o someone calls me) it happens i doesn't hear him but he hears me. The timing of working/not working of audio during a call is again random but most of the time it works.
So I don't understand if it could be a software problem (i could try to installa again the S.O.) or my phone is just ending to work.
I've a TIR cooked version of WM 6.1 but i'm using it for more than 1 year and i've never had such problems.
I didn't do any changes in the so before the problems happened.
The phone is never falled.
So, have i start to think to buy something else????
In that case according to the fact that i've not a big udget i was thinking to TOUCH PRO 2 or HTC MINI (both under 300 euros). Could you suggest the better one or maybe another suitable model?
Thank you in advance for your support and sorry for my poor english
You can try a hard reset and see if that solves the issues that you are currently having.

Ativ S camera not working

Just got a brand new ativ s with a non-working rear camera. Details
OS version 8.0.10517.150
firmware: 2424.13.11.2
hardware 15.15.1.0
radio soft 2424.13.9.1
radio hard 0.0.0.800
bootloader 13.08.14.16
chip soc 1.5.32
3rd party apps don't work, hard reset did nothing. No mSD card inserted, with or no sim.
What should I do with it? Is there any ROM, firmware or other stuff to flash in order to make it work? Should I take it to warranty and get a new one, which will also probably stop working pretty soon? Should I get a full refund? Or should I wait for another update, maybe wp8.1 and hopefully this is a software bug, not a faulty hardware?
Why would you assume a warranty replacement would also be defective? That's... um... I do not understand the thought process which would produce that belief. The fact that third-party apps and hard-reset didn't fix it pretty clearly indicates a hardware problem. The fact that people aren't constantly complaining about this issue (anecdotally, I have had *no* trouble with my phone's camera) suggests that it's a pretty rare problem. In what way is a warranty replacement not the obvious answer?
Because every piece of hardware that I bought and has failed in the first 24 hours came from a bad batch. One time I even got 3 brand new hard disks fail in a row. The 4th one lasted 1 year.

same here, i tried almost every ROMs from Android 6 (CM/MIUI/ASOP) to Android 7.xx (MIUI China, and RR...)
The touch screen will suddenly have no response until i force rebooting the phone.
However, it seems hardware-related issue, i had found the touch not work while entering TWRP (the ROM is not loaded yet).
Next step, i will try to teardown it and re-assemble to see the method works or not.

hi, i tried to teardown my phone and re-connect all connectors, but the touch screen will still be no response after a while.
does anyone have any other idea?
Its probably hardware problem, as i don't stay long enough in recovery to notice the issue or unable to notice it because all you do is press and not a lot of swipes, and another problem is that its almost impossible to buy a new original oem screen, all those sellers on aliexpress claiming to sell new screens in reality just sell a refurbished screen with very low quality, it looks like the old saying "if its made in china its
sh*it" is true, yes most phones are Chinese but they are older companies, better engineering, more experienced, yes issues like this also happen with them but a lot rarer, but here it looks like 10%off all sold phones have problem, some same as ours some worst, and i was typing this for so long, i try to type one letter, another one is pressed or none at all ?
Have you tried flashing Stock ROM ? If you don't then please give try.
earlier versions of TWRP had this issue but only in TWRP. Now it's fixed. And some devices doesn't support such custom kernel and causes problem with nav button.
So first flash thw stock rom and see if the problem exist or not.

I am currently on stock global beta firmware and still facing the same issue, no root not costume recovery and still facing the same issue, now i almost sure that its a hardware problem, like many other users that face it ?
Okay you can post this one to MIUI forum. Try submitting an issue there. Hope you'd get some solution.
I don't think there is another solution other than changing the screen, but thanks anyway
i thing this is the hardware issue, anybody can detect the problem?

While the touch screen lose response, you can press middle part of mi5 (i.e. the connector) vigorously without shutdown the phone. And then, you can find the touch screen will work again. Therefore, in my case, that indeed a hardware issue.

Can you explain this better? I have the same issue, if there's a way to fix it without reboot I want to try it, but I don't understand where/what I should "vigorously press"...
For your reference.
I had touchscreen problem at the beginning when I received it from Gearbest in 2016. It would take much time to send it back and forth so I decided to flash it with a newer Global stable rom (I think I was Miui7) by myself; after that, the problem was 95% gone, (it still happened sometimes but not severe). Lately, I cable updated it to Miui 9 Global Stable and the problem was back and severe.
I TWRP installed Miui 9 Global developer Rom - not working
TWRP LineageOS 14.1 - not working
There are no points to use LineageOS 14.1 if the touchscreen problem is still there.
So I TWRP cleared data and cable-installed Miui 9 developer Rom, and The problem is completely GONE!!!!
Maybe you could try some of the steps above.
I also change my charger from 2V to 1V output after installing, and only charge it from the wall socket. (I used to charge from the extension ones more)
I only installed necessary apps at the beginning then gradually add more.
Hope that would help!!

Display trembling problem during charging!

Hey... I have the following problem:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1p8uxZnmA8
Often when I am charging my phone I have this Issue with several adapters, cables and so on. I have tested a lot and already did two RMA... they changed some back cover part and the mainboard. issue is still there and I dont have more ideas.
I already noticed that some others have this problem too. But what could it be?
Now im testing an older Stock ROM (release 02.2017). Someone have any idea? Could this be a Software (kernel) problem?
