I've done some searching on this, but so far nobody's problem seems to match up with mine. Any help would be much appreciated!
I bought my wife and I both international Galaxy phones to use on AT&T's network. I have a Galaxy Note, and my wife has a GS2-G. My phone is super stable, but my wife's phone will regularly drop all cellular connectivity with no warning. About once a day or so, it just drops everything. Wifi will still connect, but the phone can't text, make calls, or get data. The signal bars are replaced with a circle with a slash through it. This doesn't happen when we're moving from cell to cell. It often happens while she's at work (in the same building all day), and this weekend it happened twice at home. We have great reception at our house, too.
Her phone is setup using the APN settings for a "medianet" phone, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196118.
Otherwise, it's running stock 2.3.6 baseband XXKL4.
i am experiencing similar problems.losing signal totally without any hint.
not once a day but sometimes it happens to me also.
Sent from my GT-I9100G using XDA
i too have this problem. i too sit in the office the whole day. same spot. and this happens frequent enough to piss me off. i raised this issue several times in other discussions, and they keep saying its probably network issue or a faulty phone.
1. i use this same network on my previous phone (iphone), and its fine
2. i cant just send it for warranty cause they will keep the phone for a week or 2 to troubleshoot. so i dont want to be without the phone for that period of time without knowing for sure its a faulty phone.
since i see quite a few people going through and thanks to projectrally, i hope we can all narrow this problem down to what may be the cause, and take necessary action.

i have tried flashing diff roms, modems, kernels. i have disabled fast dormancy, and problem still persist.
Got this problem yesterday for the first time , I had to reboot.
When the problem occured, i tried to find network but the phone kept searching...
...
Same problem here! I think all we can do is wait for the ics update.
That should fix it...
P.S: It usually happens when im running low on battery...
im still not sure if its a software or hardware issue
yup i have the same prob to sometimes..after rebooting the phone it works jst fine.. but its quite annoying rebooting the phone when it happens
but it doesn't happen so often as u all described.. mayb once or most twice happens to me in a day ...
Maybe its a hardware problem, LG Optimus 3D has also this problem of "ghost calls" and have the same hardware (TI OMAP 4430)
After ICS update i am facing the same problem. Before i read this thread, i thought it is a software bug but now it seems to be a hardware problem.
Hello!
Wifi and Bluetooth aren't working anymore When you try turning them on, them just turn off immediately. It has been going on after KitKat 4.4.3 update.
It's the same situation this member described in this thread: >>>>http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/wifi-bluetooth-issues-t2808419<<<<
He also uploaded a video about this issue: >>>>youtube . com / watch? v = girqFv6eWnQ<<<<
I also have been reading this threads:

>>>>http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/moto-x-xt1060-issues-wifi-bluetooth-t2813308<<<<
and the solution for this would be replace the WCNSS_qcom_wlan_nv.bin in the Persist folder. As my phone is not rooted, it seens impossible I had accidently deleted this file, right? Anyway, the Persist folder of my phone is empty. It's because my phone is not rooted so it doesn't show the files inside the folder? At the wlan/prima, there are the following files:
WCNSS_cfg.dat
WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini
WCNSS_qcom_wlan_nv.bin (that's the file, right?)
WCNSS_qcom_wlan_nv_calibration.bin
WCNSS_qcom_wlan_nv_regulatory.bin
Is there some possible solution or I really need to send my phone to technical support?
I'm sorry about my English and my poor knowlegde. Thank's a lot!

There is no way to prove that persist is vacant as you are unrooted. It is most likely a coinsident hardware failure. But still possible.
Go warranty replacement. Rsd restore is no help as persist is not in the XML.

For first, thank you for your concern.
I see. It's a poor situation we have been seeing with others Moto X owners, especially after 4.4.3 update. Considering it's not a hardware issue and 4.4.4 update release (my phone is still in 4.4.3), is the 4.4.4 update worth it? I have been reading about increasing battery consumption after 4.4.4 update. I also have read about restoring the stock rom could be a worth try, even if your phone has never been rooted. What you say?

So I will try to update it on 4.4.4. A last question I forgot asking: my 3/4G is working fine. 3/4G has nothing to do with wifi/bluetooth hardware/software, right?

Correct.
I've sent my phone warranty. I'm a previous contact they told me it's probably a hardware issue. The battery comsumption has increased a lot and the explanation is that phone is constantly searching for wifi/bluetooth. Is it possible even with hardware failure?
When I get my phone back tell you what was it's problem and the possible solution.
Wifi and bluetooth had started working from nothing. Then, it stopped again. And it went this way several times since. Now, it's working properly, but it may stop anytime. Could it still be a hardware issue? I just have updated 4.4.4 yesterday. In one of the situations, I found the message "supplicant status: scanning".

Well, wifi and bluetooth aren't working anymore since my last post. There's a big battery drain - something like 60% of battery life in 3 hours with phone - supposedly - in sleep mode, even when it is in airplane mode. It seems the system tries to find wifi and bluetooth. When I see my battery status, Android OS and Android System processes are draining more battery life than screen itself. Could it be a hardware failure even if wifi and bluetooth get back working sometimes?
I think I'll buy a lower cost android phone if I decide sending my Moto X warranty. It's complicated staying without a smartphone during 20~30 days.
I appreciate you all for the help and considerations.

Have you managed to get an update? I think I am having the same exact problems.
Not a developer device so can't unlock the bootloader
Not rooted. \persist\ is empty if that would make any difference at all.
Surprisingly once when I restarted the phone in bptools menu options on the boot menu, the phone came up fine and I was able to turn on my wifi and bluetooth. After about 10 minutes, the phone restarted on it's own and ever since they won't turn on.
Did a full wipe, FDR and also wiped cache but still the same now. Booting using BPTools menu option doesn't help any more.
For the last couple weeks, my phone is just guzzling data on 4G. Having a wifi would help. Please don't suggest me to do a warranty repair That is what I might end up doing in about two weeks. The unlocked device was bought in India but I am now abroad.

For first, thank you for reminding me about this thread. I bring bad news for you, unfortunately. It's 99% a hardware failure. In my case, it really was one. After 25 days, my phone was back from warranty with a new wifi/bluetooth hardware.
My phone was behaving the same way as yours. Sometimes the wifi was back working for a while, then my phone restarted and wifi was unavailable again. So, i recommend you send your phone warranty as soon as possible. Good luck!

wifi and bluetooth not turning On FIX
Hello everybody.i use a moto x (xt1052) 4.4.4 kitkat not rooted.
A week ago started having problems with wifi communication not turning on and a couple of days later bluetooth couldnt locate any connections
I fixed these problems by switching to ART Runtime from the developer settings.this will reboot your phone and starts upgrading your apps .after that wifi and bluetooth work fine .(for now..)
I am also wondering if anyone has any random reboots or its just my pocket..
Hope it helps for you too.
Cheers,Stelios
Updated: WiFi and Bluetooth stopped working again.leaning more on software issue than hardware.

Nope, that didn't help me at all. I think at least my issue is hardware related. Giving the phone for warranty repair on Thursday, let's see what happens.
Update
Been to the service center a week ago. Apparently the moment I explained my issue, they said it is an hardware issue and so the board needs a replacement. Got my phone back and it has been a week with no issues. Fingers crossed...
Haven't yet found a solution to this online and hoping someone can help me out. Motorola Droid Turbo running 5.1. Phone was fine until just a couple days ago. The phone now gets really hot and the battery is rapidly draining, even if I'm not running anything and just have the phone on the table with the screen off. The only way to stop this I have found it to put it into airplane mode. When I look at the battery usage, it appears that "cellular network signal" is a solid red bar for the whole duration that the phone isn't in airplane mode. It's like there is an app that is constantly using cell service (this is whether or not I'm on wifi). Basically, the phone is behaving as if I'm on a phone call, nonstop. Tried killing apps, clearing cache, just did a factory reset, which I really didn't want to do, but even that didn't solve the problem. HELP!!!
TIA!!!
I had the same problem .
One day decided to downgrade to kitkat .
My problem was solved

Every once in a while mine gets changed from not paying attention to a prompt about locations. In fact, I just had to change mine back again.

It seems that your radio is creating the problem. I think the best way is to re flash the Radio of your phone.
It seems the reduced battery timing is the result of heating of the phone which is generated by the processor (probably the baseband processor which controls the radio functions ).

If you are unlocked then manually flash the radio using twrp.
If you are locked than Google for Rsdlite.

I think it's more that the radio is constantly at full power trying to establish a connection, and it's particularly inefficient in that state. I was in a very rural area the other day and while it was determined that I was connected, it was voice-only with no data; the phone got quite warm, and pretty much stayed that way until I got back within decent range of a tower. Battery life was pretty terrible as well. Not a good phone to go far off the beaten path with, it seems...
If your cell signal level is a solid red line with no yellow bits, that means it's completely disconnected because it can't find a signal, and outside of airplane mode will continually "search" for it. Like Nido said, if you're not unlocked, you're going to have to flash a full firmware package in rsdlite. This'll get your radio firmware up to date (if it isn't already) and clean your modem stats (which I would bet is where your problem actually lies).
If you are SunShine-unlocked, you can flash the clean_modem_stats zip in TWRP and that should hopefully fix it.

Just to respond, I haven't taken any action yet. I did previously change the battery, but that didn't seem to solve the problem. Then yesterday the battery lasted at least 12 hours with modest use. Today, it's been on for 4 hours so far and battery is at 86% and the back feels cool. Now I'm totally stumped and not sure I'll do anything to rock the boat. However, it is having trouble connecting to wifi for some reason, so there's that... Not sure the issues are related...

You must have use some battery app to analyze the behaviour of battery during charging and discharging cycle n it will assist you to caught the real source of problem....
As for as i know wifi is also the part of Radio package. If replacing the battery do not resolve the issue than there is another bugg which has to be caught...

Hey all - anybody able to help? All the instructions I can find for flashing a radio involve a radio.img file, and there's not one in the package I downloaded above. I really don't want to brick my phone by experimenting - would greatly appreciate any advice as to how to flash this!

If you are taking about the clean modem file, it's not a radio. It's like a cache cleaner for your radio/modem.
Boot into TWRP recovery and go to "install". Flash the zipped file in "install" .
Thank you Chazz!! Just flashed it and so far phone is running cool as a cucumber. Will be out of town for the next four days so if this has fixed the problem, I will be the happiest dude in the world! Also, occasionally the phone has been *really* sluggish, taking forever to respond to key input, etc. - I'm thinking this may all be related. Looking forward to finding out!
Hey all - quick update. The radio cleanout appears to have helped some, but still every day I'm having to leave my phone on a charger just to make it through until I get home. I think it starts to "obsess" about something and it gets super hot; often I'll restart it in hopes it will "forget" whatever it was thinking about so hard and often it does. This is really crippling me - is there any chance a custom ROM would be any help? I'll try anything!
Here's a screenshot from just now - 53% and just 3 hours left!
I would be deeply grateful for your help! Only when our phones don't do what they normally do do we really understand how dependent we have become on them...

Has anyone ever encountered this problem? I tried restarting the tablet and powering off completely. Nothing has worked. The last time it happened i deleted some random 3rd party apps and it magically switched on. But i havent downloaded anything new and my tablet is very close to original. It is the 9.7 inch us cellular version. I want to check for an update but without wifi, i cant do much. Thanks in advance for any pointers.
Had this problem with the 8 inch version. Shutting off the Samsung power saving app resolved ot for me. Look at my post history, it should be a recent thread that I started where I documented what to turn off. YMMV.
Thanks for the suggestion. The wifi magically was on again today. The only thing i had done was took the sim card out, rebooted and left it sit. Wifi did not come on initially so i dont know how long it took but hopefully it keeps working
Well it quit working again after rooting and flashing a custom rom. Ive read the wifi chip could have a bad solder. Anyone else have any input?

Fir this phone the other forum is much more active.
What are your thoughts and experiences on the update so far? WiFi seems much faster battery seems just as good.
Just got the update yesterday myself. was excited to see that it was 7.1.1 but got annoyed fast that it broke my admittedly already broken Bluetooth. (wouldn't turn on) But after backing everything up and a little bit of stumbling through the "restore" part of a full reset everything is running great as far as i can tell. I like the new launcher but i don't like that I can't do away with the "most recent" apps thing at the top. i just don't use it and don't wan't it there if I'm not going to use it.
The update broke my phone. Hooray.
**edit** Ok, so updated the phone. I got an error saying Recovery was unreadable, booted in bootloader mode... Rebooted, same thing. Shut off the phone. It recommended to use Software repair from Verizon... So plug in the USB-C, fire up the phone... It boots up to the splash screen and freeezes... Then 10 minutes later, REBOOTS TO RECOVERY?!
So I try and do what I can in recovery, but to no avail. So I reboot it again... And let it go. It bootloops 4-5 times and eventually boots up! So I thought, cool. It's fixed. Nope! I reboot, and I'm back in phone limbo. Stupid POS. :\
So I factory reset... And now the phone is even more broken than before. YAY!!!! This is the worst update ever.

Stupid POS. :\

Remove your sim car tray before boot, guess the update doesn't like our CA network (had the same issue, but did it again when I plugged it to charge this after noon)

Do you have a spare sd sounds like it's going bad or needs to be formatted. If you can I'd wipe everything internal external and fresh install

Other threads say it's an issue with Samsung SD cards (Which I have). Whenever I boot without it, everything is fine... Problem is I still can't restore from the Software assistant app, all I can do is factory reset from recovery.
Anyone here have a Moto Z force Droid and has 7.1.1 installed? Also will need knowledge of using adb shell and linux command to dump partitions (dd). My phone is in dire need of help. :\ Thanks!

And for anyone who hasn't upgraded, can you use the method here to capture the OTA URL:

Did it fix the Bluetooth issue (what was your annyway?)
Me 2 since start of July, I got nothing but trouble with wireless... A very bad 2,4gz reception, no more 5gz visible, and no Bluetooth...
As for Verizon assistant, did you manage to make it work ? I think I'll give it a try...

After reading on Verizon website, I just realized that it takes up to a week after an update before you can use the assistant...
I also paid a premium for that samsung micro SD 128gb Evo... But also hope it can fix our z force droid Bluetooth issues...
Can't wait to see if the assistant can fix it (do you think a re-install without the SD card can change something ?)

Long trip to go across the border for Verizon... (I don't have a Verizon account) and Moto is a last resort if the software assistant can't fix my issue.
Anyone else noticing improved battery life after the update? I did a full factory reset after the update because it broke my Bluetooth but its been running great for me. Today might just be a fluke so ill keep a close eye over the next few days but so far it seems to be doing better with idle drain and drain with light usage.(web browsing, music, pictures, ect.)

I didn't get your luck, since the first small update in beginning of July, nothing but trouble, phone overheat (huge drain) reboots often (more drain) and weird unused app battery usage... Since August update, no improvement same thing...
I used to be able to make 2 days or a little more if I'm lucky... Now barely a day... ?
