So far Wifi, Video and audio playback, supersu, Substratum seems to work.
Also Pip mode seems to work in certain apps.
Substratum themes such as belo works in root mode,if any issue try to install main framework overlays first.
I tried PIP in VLC
GAPPS- opengapps, not completely stable yet though. https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120757579
latest supersu
For Pixel Launcher from screenshot use - https://www.xda-developers.com/pixel-launcher-2-android-oreo-download/
*Gapps sign in issue : If you get sign in issue, try updating play services from Apkmirror and clear cache, recheck permissions.
Share if you got anything else like gapps, mods work..
Got few screens below
Picture in Picture works in chrome too. Just open the video in full screen and click home button.
Props to @santhosh for getting 8.0 booting on our ol' Nexus 5's, I'm amazed at how much life this phone has, all thanks to these kick ass devs!

I just thought i would share with you guys a fix i have been looking in to since installing the new LPX13D preview a few days ago.
Quit a lot of videos that are viewed inside of browsers try to use the vp9 codec, and by the look of things it is not yet fully supported (both in chrome and the android /framework itself).
I have spent hours of my time trying to figure this out, simply because it was just bugging me. I could have easily just watched the video in the YouTube app itself which seems to work just fine.
This fix is assuming that you use the chrome browser on your device.
Open up the browser and type in to the address bar chrome://flags
Next, find the option "Disable media source API" and press enable so it now says disable.
Now find the option for "Enable GPU rasterization" and set it to "Force-enabled for all layers"
That's it, now you can watch and enjoy your videos without the green/purple tint overlaying them.
Thanks! It worked like a charm
Awesome. Worked like a charm. Thanks.
permanent fix
Is there anyway that there is a more permanent fix for this. I am on CyanogenMod 12 nightlies and I still have that problem...
Thank you so much for this fix! Too bad this does not work inside feedly where I still get the pink tint in embedded videos
I figured out what @cars1189 posted minutes ago in his CM12 thread, that it will really slow down the device when you flash the GApps with the rom since the Exhibit 4G's system stuff are kinda old and stuff and needed to be tweaked, therefore for maximum performance on a daily basis, it has to be used without it.
By the way, Here's the link to the ROM.
With that in mind, here are my suggestions for apps that replace the Google Apps.
Camera:
Stock Camera or any other Camera app.
Camcorder:
Stock Camera or I'll look for a Camcorder app in an app store
Google Play App Store:
I am using Aptoide. 1mobile and mobogenie works. Just make sure Unknown Sources is checked in Dev options.
Youtube:
TubeMate (from Android Freeware) and FreeDi. FreeDi can be played through background.
You can watch YT Videos on UC Browser Too.
Maps:
None. GPS messed up. I will find solution.
Music:
Stock music app or 3rd party music app like PowerAMP or MX Player
Fit:
I've been using Runtastic.
Sheets, Docs, and Slides:
WPS Office.
Chrome:
Stock Browser (though that browser sucked)
I also suggested UC, UC Mini, CM Browser and Firefox.
Launcher:
Either Trebuchet Launcher3 or KK Launcher.
Google+:
Man, I don't know.... I will look for a 3rd party app that doesn't use Google Services, but an external service.
Gmail:
You can check Gmail using UC Browser.
Drive:
You can add a Google Drive account and view your files using ES File Explorer
Share some suggestions for apps that DO NOT NEED GOOGLE SERVICES OR GAPPS!

Basic statment to the point:
I in no way am recommending anyone not use gapps. In fact the only thing i said directly relating to gapps was: "I have never used any Cyanogenmod rom without gapps installed". And despite the rom in general NOT just gapps being slower than past roms i still use it as my daily.
I definitely in no way said that gapps will make the phone too slow.
Directly in responce:
Thats the only statment directly at gapps. The rest of it is general information because everyone always says something about performance. The rest of my statement only says that i had one random reboot with kkernel since you asked about it and then goes into detail about why going forward nobody should expect the same or better performance than say 4.4 + K^Kernel, again since you asked about speed. Now if you feel that the performance decrease warrants not using gapps because it makes it too slow then thats your opinion. I in no way meant to discourage users from using gapps. Im sorry if my post was confusing.
Other information related to this post:
While i think gapps are pretty usefull. I will admit that apps like waze not only replaces maps fairly decently but also makes enhancements. The idea of making a mundane task like driving to work potentially a fun/social event by being able to interact with others i think is cool. Do i recommend people replacing apps you mention no, but do i think presenting them to others to consider is a good idea sure some of them do bring cool ideas like that with waze. I AM IN NO WAY RECOMMENDING. However i dont think this post should be deleted either. Just dont put words in my mouth please. Again this also isnt a angry post or anything, maybe my post was just confusing this is just to let everyone know what i meant to say and how i feel, and if you could correct your post accordingly i would appreciate it.
More detail about what i meant:
Also what i meant by old system stuff is that theres most likely a bit of a performance hit because of the old binaries/libraries that could get worse with newer android versions. Sometimes we have to update our "wrappers" to these libs to work with newer android versions. If you look in logs you can see where it says something like " *lib name* uses *blank* which is *insert ineffeciant or waste of memory here* please fix ". And thats not gonna go away anytime soon. One of the few libs it said this about i did just replace, 3 of the others it mentions im working on now. Is there more? maybe idk im working on it. However they are prorpietary files replacing them isnt that easy. And this doesnt mean that gapps is slow because of our libs. In fact gapps likely uses its own libs for things it does and so do other apps maybe. However if a app does user for example anyother lib im gonna replace libjpeg(since its already opensource) if a app doesnt use their own libjpeg maybe its slower because its using our old one. Maybe if apps do use the system lib i could replace libjpeg with libjpeg-turbo since its "2-4x as fast as libjpeg" on arm neon. However the libjpeg code(original) has been unchanged since 2008 so will it be faster idk maybe compiled with a newer compiler might help.
Side note: you guys do know that the file he linked is the md5sum right and not the rom? I only mention it because more people have downloaded it than the rom, could be just re-downloads but just saying lol.
Hey guys,
From all the early feedback we've gotten from you about Remix OS Player, we've been able to fix two of the most reported bugs and have a new build for you to download. Here's what we've fixed:
Fixed most of the stuck at loading ("Patience is bitter. But its fruit is sweet.") issues
Fixed Play Store not being able to install apps
You'll know you have the latest one by the file name "Remix OS Player package - B2016091403".
IMPORTANT: Remix OS Player first boot will take several minutes. Subsequent boots will be much faster.
Is it possible to implement some kind of fake wifi connection so that apps that only work with wifi (Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 5) can be used?

The Play Store now updates the pre-installed apps and enables new ones to be installed, but:
1. The apps are updated and installed very slowly. It seems like the player file system is running slowly or there is some other bottleneck.
2. The player seems a lot more sluggish too. Not as responsive.
3. While updating the apps in the Play Store, when one finishes the player goes back to the home screen and minimizes the Play Store app. If you maximize the Play Store app, it continues, but the same thing happens after the next app finishes updating.
4. The install of the Player also seemed to take a lot more time than the previous version.
Hope this helps.
UPDATE:
5. The player just hung on me while in Chrome at the Jide home page. Cursor is unresponsive and the OFF switch on the external control panel does not do anything.
UPDATE 2:
6. I killed the player and rebooted my host system. The player seems much faster now. The problem might have been a resource issue on the host. Hard to say for sure.
UPDATE 3:
7. Just installed the player on another host. Same behavior, so I doubt it was a host issue.
I don't know what is your harware but i don't have any problem with 2 years Asus laptop tp500
yea the video playback and chrome access are a lots slower than previous version...
it seems something is very wrong with the hard drive access.
the lack of open GL ES 3 support and the lack of full screen or game controller support or large HDD image or fake wifi is very worrying for a GAMING centred emulator you are claiming everywhere...
Finally decided to root and installed FOS 1.3 and I am happy with the result. I choose ARISE during installation and set it up according to instructions with V4A and Dolby Atmos (with SELinux Permissive).
The issue is, it processes my music player, Youtube and every sound system wise (ringtone, notification etc.) - the difference is noticeable right away after tweaking the settings. However, the setup does not affect Chrome - the sound is quiet and tinny. V4A says status Normal, but processing NO.
Device: A3003, Freedom OS 1.3, Boeffla Kernel.
Things I've tried to no avail:
Clean reinstall of FOS with ARISE
Clean reinstall of FOS without ARISE, then installed ARISE from their official thread.
Changing kernel to stock
Clearing cache/data for V4A, Dolby Atmos
Anyone had success to make Chrome working?
Thanks.
Type chrome://flags/#disable-unified-media-pipeline in the address bar, enable that function, and you are done

That did the trick I knew it was something up with Chrome, but did not knew this flag.
A little update. Looks like not all pages working. For example when playing html5 video on Dailymotion it is not processing. On another tab, Soundcloud does.

Hello, I'm having this same issue, however I can't locate this flag in chrome in order to disable it. Has this flag been renamed in the latest chrome update? Any idea where I can look? Thank you.
Hey fellas.
I might need some help with a couple of things.
viper with dolby - fixed
Besides that, I've seen many people talk about Magisk, does it replace SuperSU or does it work together? why would i need it?
Last thing, i am looking for a cam app (could be even xposed module or whatever, i don't mind digging and modding for it to work)
Which is pretty much the best out there for this device.
So far the normal app makes the videos stutter a little, even on youtube videos with reviews of nexus 6 cam, they stutter.
I have seen the Chromeloop one, but it doesn't seem to support this device, only 5X and 6P.
Any luck there for you guys?
Many thanks!
What ROM are you running?
Magisk replaces superSU. The niece thing about it is that you can hide root, so you can use apps that do safetynet checks to look for modded devices like android pay etc.

Hey thanks for your reply
After a very long trying of different methods, i've got dolby to work with viper.
Last thing i'd love to know is the best cam app, and maybe how to run the Chromeloop camera NX Version 7 NZL.
I want to use my phone to make videos, would place the phone static and still it does stutter here and there :/
So i figured its the software.
I just use the google camera app
