How to figure out the phones model - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I've been tinkering with my HTC One and after changing ROMs to Artmod, I'm stuck and unable to revert back to the backup I made. All along I believed it was an HTC J One HTL22 but after I realized that the J One actually has 2 sim card slots instead of 1, I know its not the one. It seems that the previous owner moved the parts of another HTC into the housing of an HTC J one, so i'm lost now.
Any help on how to figure out exactly what variant of the phone I have will be extremely helpful, as it is my daily phone but can't access mobile networks.

no problem Out of interest , which method did you use?
I used both of them, and i got same unlock pin code in either case. I think that second one (one with pushing .sh file) is a little bit easier to read. Greetings, and thank you once again.

I used both methods also and got same code. now if there was a way to unlock the device once and not have to unlock everytime a sim is changed that would be awesome.

I tried to follow the instructions however I never got the unlock code or I am just being dumb when I use method 2 my results are identical to your 2nd screenshot,
there is no 3rd line of text?
Using the first option what I see is very similar to your first screenshot with Vodafone instead of O2. But again no code that I can see.
I have tried inserting simcards from t-mobile and O2 however I never get asked to enter a code. Not that I have a code to enter, I wish I could work out where I am going wrong.

The phone is a friends who got it from someone it was on vodafone rru and had the branding on startup and shut down, before I rooted it and put on CWM and Nameless Rom, but when I try my t-mobile sim card it doesn't get a signal for when, unfortunately I do not know if this was an issue as it wasn't supplied to me with a sim card.
I will contact my friend and see if he can supply me his sim card so I can test it. Hopefully as you say it is unlocked. Not sure when i will get the sim card to be able to test it though.

hmmm when you say doesnt get signal.... i wonder if its because its a vodafone branded desire C... it will have everything for Voda hard wired in the device... and wont have any t-mo APNs etc. TMo arent exactly friendly when it comes to APN info unlike other providors like O2 & Voda
I wonder if that is the issue is that no data APNs are selected....

If you want to get your unlock code, you need to flash a Custom Rom, NAmeless For Example.
Once thats been done, you can install busybox and follow the instructions and you get your code.
i managed to succesfully unlock my Desire C
its a stock phone, bought it from Asda UK - on T-Mobile network
although it doesent have any t-mobile branding or carrier apps or boot up logo like most phones have
after unlocking my bootloader and using r1-superuser Root, it went very smooth
but one thing i did notice that seems odd, my IMEI is different in the command shell
to what is displayed in the phone
xxxxxxxxx584298 - displayed from phone
xxxxxxxxx5842901 - displayed on the command shell

[Q] Need Help Flashing a Spring HTC One back to Sprint

I picked up an Sprint HTC One that had been flashed to NTelos (East coast carrier) and would like to flash it back to Sprint. I called Sprint and they verified that the IMEI # was clean and could be activated back onto sprint. Honestly I am not looking to activate the phone on sprint but temporarily to T-Mobile and shortly to a UK Cellular company. We are only in the US for another 12 days and I think that having the phone on Ntelos will potentially mess up the global capabilities of this phone. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Thanks for the info but I have been trying to get root access and it won't let me get past the recovery area. When I choose recovery it doesn't allow me to choose to install any thing, when I choose recovery it immediately does a restart with the red triangle. Please forgive me if I am missing something simple, I am still very much a noob but know just enough to get me in trouble. Thanks for the info.

[Q] HTC One... Soft brick?

A friend recently gifted me a used One that he had previously unlocked and rooted, but returned to stock. I am attempting to unlock, root, and SIM unlock it. (It is sprint, I want to use it on att)
I do not know a lot about the One, I am not a huge fan of HTC in general as it seems that their phones were always overly complicated to work on.
I successfully unlocked the bootloader and threw clockworkmod recovery on, which is when the problems started. Since then, I was no longer able to boot the phone...
Then, as usual, the tampered message showed in my HBOOT menu.
I installed twrp recovery but that failed to work, so I then realized I had not downloaded the version for Sprint HTC Ones. After downloading the correct version, it does boot into recovery.
However, I cant seem to install any roms (this includes through ADB). It throws the error message "FAILED remote not allowed"
So Im sort of in a bind here, and I thought maybe someone with more knowledge about the One could help me out. Is the sprint version even capable of use on an ATT network, and if so, can someone please tell me how on earth I can fix this thing? I want to make a backup phone for use due to the fact that I'd like to sell my nexus 5 and buy a Oneplus One.
Thanks a ton!
Any help here? I still haven't been able to fix this. I've been trying several different recoverys, roms, etc. I also tried to reboot the phone to RUU but that was no help either. Remote errors..

The Sprint HTC One is a CDMA phone and the AT&T is a GSM. They have different radios and partitions. Since it is a Sprint phone, you need to make sure you only put Sprint compatablile software on your phone, if you don't you will end up bricked. You might find more resources to help you at the Sprint HTC One forum. This forum is primarily for the GSM variants. I don't know which RUU you ran but you might want to find out what is really on your phone by running a fastboot getvar all on your phone. It will tell you what hboot, firmware, security, etc. Depending on your status, you can only flash certain RUU's.
Thank you very much for the info. Problem is, I was unable to even try using an RUU because it gives me the error that the phone is not even connected to the computer..

Check nkk71's post the first three or four questions may help you out. But like I said, you really need to go to the Sprint forum and post your questions there because what works for one variant may not work for the other variants.

No SIM unlock prompt for HTC Desire 510 (Sprint), please help.

Hello. I am writing this message to this forum after hours of searching. During all that searching, the most promising leads for a solution to my problem kept bringing me back to this forum, so I figured I'd make a post here and hope for the best.
I recently relocated to China. I brought my phone with me, which was a prepay HTC Desire 510 with Sprint. Awhile ago, I rooted the phone by putting TWRP on it. I basically only did it in an attempt to remove some of the bloatware on the phone, because otherwise, I see very little point in rooting the phone. Much to my displeasure, rooting the phone seemed to have very little effect on what I could do about the bloatware due to write protection, but I was able to manage to (barely) deal with the stupidity that is this phone's storage space. I mention this detail in case anyone thinks it is related to my problem.
So obviously the phone doesn't work in China, so I decide to buy an unlock code off the internet for $8.99. I get the code in a few hours, and the instructions tell me to put in a different SIM card, and I will be prompted with an unlock request from the phone after a reboot. However, that doesn't happen. All I got is a message saying "Invalid Card Please contact customer care" and "Invalid SIM Card 4G services are unavailable as the sim/uicc is invalid".
In the instructions I was provided, they did say make sure your phone has been factory reset, but I was unable to do this due to the TWRP rooting. What I instead did was factory reset it from inside the bootloader menu. This did perform a factory reset of sorts, but I still never got any SIM unlock prompt.
I am basically at the end of my rope. I don't want to have to buy a phone here in China, but if I can't get this unlocked, I will be forced to. If anyone can provide me with a stock ROM image for the HTC Desire 510 Sprint, or tell me some method to input an unlock code I am unaware of, or at least tell me if I am s*** out of luck because of x, y z, then I would greatly appreciate it. I think I have read and clicked on every single link on the first 3 pages of yahoo, searching multiple things like "htc no unlock prompt" and "htc desire stock ROM" with no real solutions to this problem.
EDIT: This was the message the people who sold me the unlock code sent regarding factory resets:
--------
Dear customer,
we got the code for your phone IMEI directly from Sprint server and this code is
in 100% working condition, it`s official code generated by the official carrier employees.
Seems like the problem on your side. Here is some useful recommendations.
Very often unlock code is not working because our customers flashing on
their phones custom ROM`s which includes custom basebands. These
changes in the structure of the radio module (baseband) are not acceptable
to unlock and this may be the reason why our code is not working. So
please make sure that your phone using original stock ROM and original
baseband firmware and your phone never was modified before.
----------
So it looks like I need help finding a stock ROM. I tried downloading what I found on this site:
****htc.com/us/support/rom-downloads.html
But it doesn't work in Linux. Wine gets to a certain point, and the program just dies. If anyone has a stock ROM for the HTC Desire 510 (Sprint) out there, I would greatly appreciate it.
Update:
I was able to follow the instructions here to eventually extract the rom.zip image from the RUU, rename it so that hboot would recognize it, and return my phone to a stock ROM image.
But as you may have guessed, this did not ever bring me to an SIM unlock screen.
I am basically at the point of giving up. At this point, I would just like to know why this is impossible. Tampered flag? Relocked flag? Maybe I'm just an idiot and didn't realize something about the Sprint "SIM" card makes it incompatible with a Chinese SIM card (it does refer to it as a UICC card)?
Any suggestions on why this didn't work would be nice. Guess I wasted $8.99 and 10+ hours for nothing.
I am attaching the links for Stock Rom And stock kernel

I used custom roms off XDA hoping it would somehow recover missing IMEI
Is the phone an n900a?
Yes SM-n900a
Made in China
If the stock roms don't restore imei and baseband, the efs folder may be damaged. A completely stock flash may be done via JTAG.

Long time since I've heard that.
Wish there was something I could do on my own. I was hoping maybe just a modem flash.
I'll standby for a few more days then if nothing I'll start looking into what they could do.

I believe they were both from the unified threads.
you can find 4.4.2 stock on here
then 4.4.4 and 5.0 were based on official release.
Update
Still have no clue whats wrong
Either something is really wrong on the software side of the phone beyond Odin (maybe JTAG)
OR
The Sim card slot on the phone is damaged.
The phone was given to me because the old owner was never ever to get it working and gave up.
I have the IMEI on a sticker located on the back.
(Yes I know discussion about changing IMEI etc is banned that's not what I'm here for)
My main question is what can be done if I don't have an EFS back up? Is the phone just a softbrick/parts
If so plan forward is just to use as a car dock lol.
I am in the same boat man. I do not know what to do, to get my imei back and baseband. i posted a thread as well similar to yours hopefully one of us gets a success story!!!!!!

The first step would be to try to find the proper basebands. Dont know where any of the firms are located. Im trying to dig them all up. And reupload them but may take some days. I am hoping to temperarelly revive this device as i have gotton one myself.
Best of luck

My goal as of now is to find a t mobile 1 with a broken screen and switch boards. Done with the boot loader being locked.
I was instructed to do 1 of 2 things... 1st like you said buy a busted up phone with a good logic board and swap. OR 2- buy that same junk Note3 and copy the efs files and install them into your phone and switch the imei to yours. etc... I gave up on trying to revive mine so I no longer can tell you if it works or not but it seems to be the best 2 options friend... good luck let me know if you get it with one of the options....
