Suddenly displays the spinning-padlock screen, won't get past it - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've had my Tab S2 for about a year (bought it at Costco). Today, I'm configuring the TWC/Spectrum WiFi Finder app when suddenly the screen goes to the "green-and-blue circle spinning around a padlock" image and just stays there, spinning. OK, Power-Volume-Down to force a reboot. Get the Galaxy logo, get the slow-build Samsung logo. Put in the encryption password ("Your tablet is encrypted for security. To start up your device, enter your password.") Done. Verfying... Starting Tablet....... same spinning circle / padlock logo. Have tried:
(1) Powering off and waiting 1 minute to clear the capacitors
(2) Going into recovery mode and clearing the cache partition (twice)
The Samsung rep on Twitter is recommending I send the device to the nearest Samsung Authorized Service Center... in New Jersey (I'm in North Carolina). I'm this close to factory resetting the thing out of desperation, but wanted to try here first. Any ideas?
Gratefully,

[A] Rebooted while installing updates, blank screen after boot animation

While installing Google play updates, including a Motorola update (I think it had already installed by the time this happened), it randomly rebooted. After rebooting, it would get through the boot animation, then to a blank screen. Doing a force reboot did not help, neither did Motorola's instructions for clearing the cache.
So I contacted Motorola via live chat, only to be told to call tier 2 support. Not wanting to actually talk to a person, I persevered. I'm pretty sure the phone was still on but may have been off for a while (can't remember if I force powered it off or it was stuck at the blank screen after booting, but this may be key in fixing it). I then press and held the power button (turning it on or force rebooting), and didn't let it go, holding it throughout the boot animation. After doing so, the "Upgrading android" screen appeared and I breathed a sigh of relief.
So there you go: what I did to fix it, and what you can try if the same problem happens to you.
Turns off after Verizon logo appears

I have run into this problem with a few differences. I was using my phone looking at G+ and it just randomly shut off. I chatted Motorola support in which they told me to clear cache which did not work. I just tried your method and that also did not work.
Any other suggestions other than calling for level 2 support?
UPDATE: Just said to hell with it and did a factory reset. All is good now

[Q] error updating to lollipop (solved)

Details:
moto x purchased from web site, for use on Tmobile
i'm currently deployed. Lucky enough to have WiFi on base and T-mobile so communication home this deployment has been amazing. Saw lollipop came out today. downloaded it. installed it. phone boots up with the regular "TOMMYBOT Mobile" and then the spinning M worlds. then it gives me the password (for the decryption). it took a min and then said some error about corrupt files and that i needed to factory reset my phone. so i pressed the button and nothing happened... so i powered down the phone. and then everything started up the same. but when i put in my password to decrypt it takes a minute and then says starting android.... and then the screen goes black. tried 5 times. longest i waited was 30min. (left it over night now, so 6 ish hours)
i can start my phone pressing the power and volum down and it brings up a fastboot menu? but even from there the factory reset option just boots my phone back up as if i pressed the power button.
any help is appriciated.
thank you,
tom
Edit: followed these instructions (cant link, motorola global portal)
and a matching youtube video and i get stuck at the dead android with the triangle "!" sign mine says "No command." under him and i cant get the next menu to open
asked for help here (link motorola forums help) they suggested verizon assistant app. the program
i've treid 3 times now. each time the start repair makes a command "getvar all" come up on the bottom half of my fast boot screen. and then thats where it stays. the "Repair" button on the right does not become clickable.
Solution:
once on the dead android screen to open the next menu it was press and hold volume up AND power for 3-5 seconds together .
from there i did the data wipe/factory reset and booting up i'm already on lollipop. of course all un clouded data lost but i'm just glad to have a phone again.

[Q] Stuck in Bootloop at Google logo

My Verizon Nexus 6 has never been rooted or had any sort of rom, it has always been stock. I just updated to 5.1.1. My Google Play Music app wouldn't work, so I rebooted my phone. Now it is in a bootloop, and gets to the Google logo, but the spinning dots don't show up. It eventually powers off and reboots after about 15 or 20 seconds and repeats the process. I have gone into the bootloader menu by holding the power button and volume down, and the options give:
Start gives google logo and goes into bootloop
Restart Bootloader puts me back into the bootloader, where I can choose more options
Recovery Mode gives google logo and goes into bootloop
Power Off turns phone off, turning it on puts it into bootloop
Factory (as in factory reset, I'm assuming) gives me the google logo and goes into bootloop. It does not perform a factory reset, it gets stuck before it even gets to that option.
Barcodes shoes the barcodes for imei and whatnot
BP Tools gives me google logo and goes into bootloop
QCOM gives me google logo and goes into bootloop
So what am I able to use to recover my phone? I mostly want to get my pictures and texts off. My pics are backed up on google, but not at original quality, so everything is compressed. I have some backups of texts, but there are some recent and important texts on it. Other than texts and original pics, everything is on the cloud, so that's fine. I'll be totally happy to get texts and pics and then factory reset, and I'll be satisfied to get just texts or my picture files and then factory, and I would accept just the use of my phone.
I have not unlocked the bootloader or rooted or put on custom ROMS, so I am not really familiar with that, but I suspect that there are software interfaces that should allow me to access the file system of my phone. Also, I'm not that familiar with android abbreviations, so please spell stuff out where possible.

Black Screen On Boot After Factory Reset

Hello folks,
I have a Gear 2 Neo that I had connected to my Galaxy S5 until recently. I got an S8 and wanted to sync my watch to this phone. I downloaded the Gear app on my new phone, but it suggested that since I could not see my watch, that I factory reset it in order to disconnect fully from my old app.
I went into the options on the watch, and did a factory reset. I get the Gear 2 Neo logo, I get the colorful Samsung logo, after this it will boot to a black screen. When I plug the watch in, I get a bluetooth icon and battery icon showing current charge.
I am able to hold down the power button and reboot. I am able to get into download mode, or attempt another wipe.
I have tried connecting via Odin v3.09/3.12 but it does not recognize the device is connected, and Kies does not seem to understand my model number. Without these two options I am a bit stuck. I tried creating an account on sammobile for firmware, but can never download due to some weird login loop. I am familiar with root, Odin, etc. but I am stumped.
Can someone provide me some direction?
Thanks a million.

Samsuns S10 (G973F) "Phone is starting..." loop

Hello,
My device (S10, SM-G973F, Q - Android 10, v. 20200203, TWRP recovery) is Magics rooted and was working fine till last night. After phone went off to battery drain, i put it in charger, but this time forgot to hold down combination of three buttons to boot rooted (I thing for the first time since my root I forgot that) - so phone started "without root activated". So I've restarted phone holding right buttons this time, but phone cannot get through screen unlock. I put in my SIM PIN, then, on the "Screen unlock" screen, when I enter right key, phone immediately locks itself. So I enter Screen unlock key again... And it locks again. And that is infinite loop.
So I decided to restart phone "without root activated" and here I got through. My thought was, if there is problem with Screen unlock, lets turn it off, right? Well, after I turned off Screen lock and restarted phone "with root activated". And now it doesn't even offer me to enter SIM PIN! After Samsung logo is "loaded" my wallpaper appears with "Phone is starting..." loading bar and after two seconds there is Samsung logo again and "Phone is starting..." - a loop. It eventually keeps looping for couple of minutes, then phone reboots itself.
Still, I can boot without root.
Any ideas on what is going on? Shouldn't it help to alter some Samsung security APK file in TWRP or so? Cache wiped, no effect.
I just don't want to go through reinstalling whole phone.
