T Mobile RCS messaging - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Is anyone able to get RCS messaging working on their T-Mobile Note 8? Read receipts, see other person responding etc?
Not working for me here

If you want to try to make it work, i'm happy to play around with it with you when I get mine. Should be here in less than 2hrs

me too
DM me and ill toss my number. UPS dude will be here in a couple hours too!!
I'm in LA...

I only get RCS when using Samsung stock Messages app. Otherwise, like with Textra, it's just the usual text message.

I'm not even getting it on stock Samsung app. I can't send group messages either, it's really odd

i'm on att prepaid, they dont even offer that. it' only for att post paid. but i getting 6gb data each month with rollever for 36$ a month, i cant complain. 45$ for 6gb data, 5$ off with autopay, buy the prepaid email card at callingmart dot com and get 10% off.

what changed? what did you do to rectify ?

The issue was hat I had ported my number over from Verizon and it wasn't fully ported over. I called the support and they finalized porting the number. Once that was fixed it worked

So a couple of questions.
Would you see RCS working in Android messages too? I dont use the Samsung version but assume it should all work given JIBE and RCS are google initiatives.
Does it work on Verizon? Does it work cross carrier right now?
Does it interoperate to iMessage at all? What about IOS users
Thanks, understanding RCS is not easy it seems given all the hrudles.

So far no go for me. I have the unlocked version. No RCS.

It seems it might have some rcs features. You can send your location, live messages /gifs, video up to 10mb.

Does not work on Verizon. At least for the person with the note 8. If you are on TMobile and you send message to another TMobile user on a Samsung device it definitely works

Has anybody been able to disable RCS for Samsung Messages? I'd like to be able to use Pushbullet to send/receive SMS, but messages sent through RCS don't sync on Pushbullet. There don't appear to be any setting for Advanced Messaging or VoLTE anywhere, so the normal ways of disabling this don't seem to be available.

Works for me

TMO Messaging APK?
I want the Chat settings, read receipts, etc from the TMO messaging app.
Couldn't I just install the default messaging APK from a TMO note8 on my unlocked version?
Does anyone have that APK?
I had these features on my Verizon Note7 that I flashed to T-Mobile.
Thanks!

oddly enough this is working just fine on my N950N with T-Mobile CSC patch. I didn't even know what it was until finding this thread! Thanks!

Soooo.... you can see the options referenced here: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-36140 ??
If so, do you think this an APK fix or am going to have to flash the CSC?

Kalm,
Sounds good. I'm guessing I need to root first? Or can I just flash the csc in Odin?
I don't need root for anything else currently, but I could use it I guess haha.
Thanks for your help.

Problem with SMS and Google voice default setting

I can't for the life of me figure out how to use Google Voice as my default SMS app. My Note 3 and every other phone I've used in the past few years has all had this as an option. I don't really want to use hangouts as it's just not really setup as a SMS app yet.
Anyone else have this issue or a possible solutions?

I've been searching around and it seems that this is an issue for all S5's no matter the carrier. I'm experiencing the same issue on my T-Mobile S5. It sucks because I can't get my Google Glass to send messages from Google Voice anymore.
Hopefully Samsung will fix this asap.

I don't have it either and just flashed the first official 4.4.2 to my note2 and it's not there either so maybe it's a change to the newer 4.4.2 firmwares.

SMS/MMS - How to remove "Subject: New Message" before every group chat message?

SMS/MMS - How to remove "Subject: New Message" before every group chat message?
Just yesterday (11/24/15) my group text message conversations all show an extra line. It shows a Subject line before the actual text.
I'm on AT&T completely stock.
Anyone else seeing this or have an idea of how to remove that from showing in every message?
Thanks,
pt
Yea im having the same thing. It only started like monday. IDK why, I didn't change anything since. It must be a thing on AT&T because my friend who has the S6 Edge on Verizon doesn't have it. Someone please help its annoying!
Did you guys take the most recent update? The notes mentioned something about enhanced messaging I think. I'm rooted so haven't taken it, and use hangouts for messaging so don't know.

No, I'm rooted too. I saw what your talking about after I replied. I think the reason why i'm getting it is because my friends updated their phones and when they text me it sends extra info my phone doesnt know how to use because I dont have the update.
I got the update and it still happens, so that's not it. Kind of annoying is all.

It seems to have stopped just as quickly as it started. Not seeing it anymore and I haven't gotten the update yet.

MMS/Group Text Issues after Root

I can't seem to get MMS/Group text. When I use the default messenger app, after about 10-15 minutes or 20 texts, all my threads disappear and I can't send any texts. If I restart my phone, everything is there again, but issue reoccurs.
I downloaded 3rd party apps to get around this, e.g. Textra, which worked. Except, I still don't receive MMS/Group Text after about 10-15 minutes or 20 texts in. Then I have to restart just to receive pictures.
I've tried manually inputting the APN and crap, and still nothing.
Any advice? Thanks!!!

^ This is the current ROM i am using, and I dont see any posts about having trouble with MMS/Group Text.
Might have something to do with the modded n5 messages app included in that rom. I would try posting your question in the rom thread to see if others are experiencing same issue.

If you get no response, perhaps consider another n5 rom with more active development and user participation.

Do you have a suggestion? This whole ROM and flashing thing is still new to me.
I've been quietly considering Overdrive's rom but I can't speak from experience since I haven't tried any of them. I would guess Tekhd for customizing and hobby enthusiasts and Overdrive for stability.

Sprint U1 model RCS gone on Pie?

Was just wondering, on Oreo I could use RCS chat features on my U1 note 9 using Googles android messaging.
I dont know if Pie beta removed this or not as my memory ain't good as it used to be.
So my question is, anyone using a U1 model on Sprint and android messaging notice lack off RCS functionality?
Sent from my SM-N960U1 using Tapatalk
Worked it out. For some reason I think battery optimization was activated on the app. I uninstalled it and reinstalled all ok.
Edit. Looks like dark mode disables RCS functionality. Everytime I enabled it , that would happen. I'd have to reinstall app again to get RCS working again and remain in light mode.

Advance Messaging on AT&T

Anyone else experiencing issues with the feature since the last two updates? CSGA and CSGB is when mine started to basically not work at all. Just wondering is any other XDA folks are experiencing this issue and if you found a workaround
My messaging is still working fine, but my phone app seems temperamental now. When I make my call, I have to turn off my screen, count to 5, and then turn it back on to have in-call control. I also use Google Voice, but that hasn't seemed to have any impact.
I dumped advanced messaging always gave me issues.

So what do you use instead? To send high quality pics and videos and such? Also does it have a form of rcs
I just use stock messaging. Really didnt see a difference when I sent video clips with advanced messaging.
