Anyone else experiencing issues with the feature since the last two updates? CSGA and CSGB is when mine started to basically not work at all. Just wondering is any other XDA folks are experiencing this issue and if you found a workaround
My messaging is still working fine, but my phone app seems temperamental now. When I make my call, I have to turn off my screen, count to 5, and then turn it back on to have in-call control. I also use Google Voice, but that hasn't seemed to have any impact.
I dumped advanced messaging always gave me issues.

So what do you use instead? To send high quality pics and videos and such? Also does it have a form of rcs
I just use stock messaging. Really didnt see a difference when I sent video clips with advanced messaging.

So, a few hours ago I noticed my haptic feedback is really really weak. Has anyone else noticed this? I've got a few week old Nexus One running CM 5.0.7.1.

ADWLauncher.
Edit:
A complete aside, my Gmail app (for my main gmail account) says No Connection, even though I can pull mail for my other two gmail accounts fine. Anyone know of this?
Bump for great justice (and help).

Gotcha, so it's not a hardware defect. I've noticed some things work fine but others are weak. Really made me wonder. Thanks!
Hello, everyone! I was wondering if anyone else is having problems sending picture messages? I started having problems on Friday. I've reset the phone, powered it off for 5 minutes and turned off WiFi. The only thing that seems to get them to send is me taking the battery out and reinserting it. I just got this phone 2 weeks ago, and I'm kind of annoyed at this problem. I had the first generation Note before this, and never had any problems like this. Thanks to all who reply!!!
Sorry you're having trouble. No problem here though. I just took a picture, hit share and sent via stock messaging app just fine.

I've found that when using a 3rd party app like Chomp, I have to enter the APN settings manually under the 3rd party app. This first happened to me about a month ago and then recently when I went back to stock to get ready for the updates.

Hmmmm. I'm wondering if that was my problem. I may have froze the stock app when that was going on. Thanks for the tip.
absolutely. I read on here that disabling stock app/gallery would improve battery life, due to a scanning frequency, but yeah, it made it impossible to SMS pictures.

Oh the pitfalls of freezing apps.
I went into my Turned Off apps and saw I'd turned off AT&T ready2go. I turned it back on and haven't had any problems since. Could that have possibly been it?

I can't for the life of me figure out how to use Google Voice as my default SMS app. My Note 3 and every other phone I've used in the past few years has all had this as an option. I don't really want to use hangouts as it's just not really setup as a SMS app yet.
Anyone else have this issue or a possible solutions?

I've been searching around and it seems that this is an issue for all S5's no matter the carrier. I'm experiencing the same issue on my T-Mobile S5. It sucks because I can't get my Google Glass to send messages from Google Voice anymore.
Hopefully Samsung will fix this asap.

I don't have it either and just flashed the first official 4.4.2 to my note2 and it's not there either so maybe it's a change to the newer 4.4.2 firmwares.

Then I went to this new "evolve" messaging app.. while it seemed cool, I texted the WRONG person something I shouldn't have.. To say the least I was pissed. Then the stupid will give me error messages when sending pictures.. Guess what.
Why change something thats NOT BROKE! Stock messaging app is actually AWESOME!

I've been on Evolve since it came out (I still had my S4). It would crash constantly and I would never be able to send/receive pics and the Dev is a d!ck. Got my S5 and been on the stock messaging app and haven't looked back! Might try out Hoverchat (previously NinjaSMS).
I'm finding stock to be really sluggish with a lot Of lag. I uSe textra. It's very fast.

Only had the phone a weekend, so take this with a grain of salt. . .
Started stock obviously, but I got sick of Touchwiz on day 1 so switched to the Google Launcher.
When I did that, Google tries to take everything, (msg app included) so I started using Hangouts.
It is horrible. Really bad. The basic functionality is OK, but it is the other garbage that they stick in the way that annoys so much.
Sure- I could send this message using G+, but why would I, and now you've made me waste time telling you that.
Back to standard app, which seems better than previous Samsung versions. Open to suggestions though

I'm using Go sms pro. Found the stock app to be really laggy especially with large conversations. I think it was trying to load all the convos or something, as go sms only loads a handful at a time. Also has nice themes etc

EvolveSMS: it's well designed, fast and has a clean and sharp ui.

I'm using Handcent as I like the level of customisation, the missed text reminder, different missed text tone options, plus able to give different contacts different LED colors, flash rates and vibration patterns. I've been using it for years and haven't come across anything better...

Hoverchat because I love the chat heads clone on it.
I used to use hangouts, but not being able to stack pictures into a single MMS (hoverchat doesn't either but whatever) led me to trying others.

Galaxy S does that by defaut (excepted led color + flash rates) since S3 i think (i was using Light Flow for that back then).
Yes, i'm using defaut app, best to keep things simple imo.
I only install google keyboard to get better recognition while swyping.
I wonder how some people could crash it as i had some history of several years of messages imported and never seen any messaging app crash on any of my Galaxy S.
Hey everybody, I would like to know who still is using the Verizon texting app and how it compares, beats, loses to the other sms apps out there. I am using Google messenger since it was released and love its stability and mms send and receive through WiFi.
It's not pretty but it can send sms over WiFi and syncs your messages on all of your devices.

That seems pretty cool and similar to iPhone feature of sync texts on all devices.

It is considerably slower than a traditional SMS app (slower to launch and occasionally stutters) and you have to agree to Verizon holding on to your text messages for 90 days on their servers.

Recent updates make it look somewhat better. You can choose a grey theme or red one, and you can customize both app and convo background. as well as message bubbles.
It doesn't have animated gif support, though (at least receiving & viewing them)

I have tried all apps today and the best third party sms app Google messenger is the lightest at 12-15mb when hello sms is 35mb and textra is 156mb taking up a lot of ram also chomp sms.
Why not try Google's recently released stand-alone messaging app?

It is finicky for sure.
Google messenger app? Same as the stock AOSP app on Lolipop. It's extremely limited (no size adjustments for MMS, etc.), I don't like the look, etc. I actually quit Lollipop almost solely because of this on my HTC One. I know I can use another app, but I'm into using the stock app.

Same here. It's pretty convenient having a iMessage-like (SMS or Wi-Fi) program that can be synched up across my Android and iOS devices plus my Windows PC.
My bad. I don't know why I thought that.
