Anybody ells notice the send/receive arrows constantly blinking while on wifi? I had this issue on my G6 so now I know it's so to do with Android itself. Other than that, tried some Network monitoring apps and couldn't find anything. Only clue I got was it said it was coming from "android os" .... Tells me alot...

I see that too. At least on my work WiFi, the up/down arrows are blinking every couple of seconds, but arrow down sometimes stays for 10+ sec.

Hi to all,
as you know, when new sms is received on Topaz and the screen is not active, green led starts blinking. That usually happens as well on my device, but sometimes there is no sound neither blinking when message is received.
But when I activate the device, the notification of new message appears. The problem is that the message is usually hour or even more older. Anyone has the same problem? Or is it just me?
The blinking light will stop after 5 min, by default. I changed mine to flash indefinitely.
1. Go to Settings - Sounds & Notifications - Notifications
2. Select Messaging: New text message
3. For the "Flash light for ..." option, change it to "No limit"
Message received sound notification
I have the same problem when it comes to playing the message received sound notification when my phone is locked. When I receive messages I can only see the blinking light notification then after I unlock the phone the sound plays. Its really annoying. Does anyone have a solution?
same here. But not always. I think it happens when the device is not locked and the screen is in stand-by
common issue...ROM issue!!! hopefully it will be fixed with the next ROM release
Yes I'm getting this to, it seems to be intermittent... And its annoying...
I picked it up yesterday off the table turned it on and Yep the SMS sound notified me and said it had a new sms and the green led started blinking, its like it goes into some sort of sleep mode and when you pick it up to turn it on, it then lets you know you have a message..... I hope there's fix for this soon..

Hi
I had this issue and fixed it.
I used Advanced Config and under the power settings changed 'Battery resuming from suspend timeout' changed this from 1 second to 10 seconds.
The problem is the device wakes up, often gets enough time to signal the LED to flash but the device suspends again too quickly for the sound to play.
Regards
Phil

The problem is that the device even does not start blinking. So it behaves like there is no new message until you press power off button and the screen becomes active. Not sure whether we are talking about the same problem
I keep losing the WIFI connection after I stop using the phone. If I close the screen of the phone and I came back after a couple of minutes, I see I am not connected anymore to the network.
Sometimes, the phones reconnects after a couple of seconds and sometimes not even after 10 minutes; it's only saying "connecting".
This an odd behaviour, because the previous phones that I've had didn't display this behaviour, of disconecting when I closed the screen.
It's even odder because I flashed a couple of ROMs and the problem doesn't go away.
Any solutions?
P.S. I hope you undertand what've said.
The WiFi automatically turns off when the screen turns off.
Just go the WiFi settings, press the menu button and go in "advanced".
Then change "Wifi Sleep Policy".
But I don't know why it stays on "Connecting". This only happens to me when the signal is bad or the network makes you use a proxy like with WiFi hotspots.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda app-developers app
Hahahaha
I didn't have this problem at the previous phones becaue that option was always to not turn off the wifi when phone goes to sleep.
Thank you Chris.
Hey guys, I've been experiencing some strange issues while attempting to make calls.
So I tap on a contact and it goes to the Google dialer and it says "Dialing" above the contact name. It will just sit there and hang on the "Dialing" for 30-60 seconds before I tap on the hangup button. Then the "Hanging up" is displayed where "Dialing" used to be and it will continue saying "Hanging up" for X amount of minutes. During this process, I cannot make/receive calls and cannot cancel out of the "Hanging up" process. I can go back to my contact list, but cannot click names. Nothing happens when I do click them.
This usually ends with me rebooting my phone and started happening after the 5.1 update. I'm running stock everything. Any help. Please.

Happens to me too, Tmobile and it has happened with every iteration of 5.1 I am now on H and it hasnt been too bad. Sometimes when I hit the red hang up button, it actually connects.
I'm on T-Mobile. Not sure where to find what 5.1 build I'm on. Do you need the Kernel version? All it says under Android version is 5.1

Perhaps this is related to the enhanced calling mode which seems to have its share of bugs thus far.

How can I turn off the enhanced calling features? The thing is, this doesn't happen every time. Earlier this morning, when I unlocked my phone, I still had the Hanging up section on and couldn't exit out. I didn't even attempt to make a call this morning. I did last night though. So that means the Hanging up was stuck in the process all night and I didn't even realize it.

Settings>more>cellular networks>carrier settings, I believe.
I purchased a used Republic Wireless Moto X (1st Gen) and in the beginning I was happy with the phone, but then I got to school with it...
The first thing I noticed was the issue the phone was having with the college's network. The network requires a one time login every 10 hours to authenticate that you are a student. I would login and the phone would work normally on the school's network until it turned the screen off or I hit the power button once to sleep the phone. Once you did this and then tried to use the phone again it was like there was no network even though it was connected and already authenticated. I am forced to disconnect from the school's network and reconnect every time I want to use WiFi if the screen was turned off...
Well that problem was annoying as hell, but it got even worse as time went on (2 weeks). Now I can barely even use the phone at all on campus or sometimes even at my own house. I will be trying to do something very simple like open txt messaging and it will show my messages and then load the names to match the cell numbers (slowly). However when I click on a message it will stay stuck at a white text body with the person's name at the top and a txt enter box at the bottom that I can't do anything with (keyboard won't pop up).
If I hit back normally it will freeze the phone and it will restart, this is my primary problem. When trying to do basic things like txt messaging the phone freezes and restarts itself. Once it restarts on its own, nothing has fixed. I try to open txt messaging again and I get the EXACT same problem and the phone will restart again. The only semi-solution I have found is once the phone restarts itself, I shut it down through the normal hold power button briefly and click power off. Then when it comes back up, SOMETIMES it will act normal-ish.
The odd thing is a lot of the time once I get home on my network these restarts and freezes are much less frequent vs. on the school's network. This could be a coincidence, but I thought I should bring it up.
-------------------------------------
This is my first smartphone I have ever owned, but I have owned two tablets so I am familiar with Android and also with modding Android (rooting, boot loaders, custom ROMs, etc). If modding is the answer here then by all means tell me what I need to do so I can get a phone that functions properly.
I saw that Motorola is testing 5.1 for this phone now, perhaps that may fix these problems? Right now I am tempted to throw this phone out the window and go back to my flip phone that I can at least txt message on.
Not even a single idea?
Edit, found this:
http://www.androidauthority.com/moto-x-problems-528956/
Some users have faced problems with the device freezing, or randomly rebooting occasionally.
Potential Solution –
If the screen is frozen, tapping on the power button to turn the screen off, and turning the screen on again might unfreeze it. If that doesn’t work, a long press on the power button will reboot the device.
The likely culprit for this issue is a specific application. You can follow the instructions in Problem #4 above to find out if this is the case.

I have a strange issue where the wifi will stop working until I restart my phone, this happens everyday seemingly at random.
No other devices in the household have any issues connecting to the wifi and at the time I've lost connection i've tested their internet access and it's working fine.
Is this a known issue?

Mine, this morning for the first time, wouldn't connect - it just sat there with the icon light blue instead of dark blue, like it was still trying. Only mine also started getting worse, when I tried to cancel WiFi, it wouldn't - I tried to open "Settings" and the screen took forever to open, every subsequent screen took even longer to open until finally I had a white screen with an Android Header and Footer but otherwise blank page. I waited about 2 minutes, tried to hit the back arrow - nothing! Finally, I hit the power button and selected "Restart" - now it gets worse! The screen goes black, the phone's LED starts alternating slowly from green to blue and continues this way on my kitchen counter for 10 minutes. Never reboots!!! I finally used the "Vol Up>Bixby>Power Button" combo and it shut off. I hit the power button to turn it back on... absolutely NOTHING - DEAD! Plugged it in - didn't recognize that it was being charged! Crap... what did I do! Stop, think... O.K., one more try "Vol Down>Bixby>Power Button" combo - up comes the "Software Load" screen - I hit "vol down" to cancel and it rebooted - back to normal! No IDEA what the hell that was all about but thought you'd feel better knowing it COULD BE WORSE!!!
Well thanks. I'm glad yours is sorted.
