So will this phone ever be rooted? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions & Answers

seems like the other variants get it, but we are stuck somehow. I can't find a thread that talks about the root status for verizon s8/s8+. Could someone update me or link me a thread that mentions the status of the verzion variants?

yes it can
look up how to root the s8+ on youtube and frist vido pops up is root junkys

So that method works and is safe for the s8?

There is a thread in the S8 Kernels, etc. forum for rooting the snapdragon versions. The s8+ forum also has a thread that might have better instructions athough they should be very similar. I would use the proper files for either the S8 or plus and read both sets of instructions. It is a bit complex, but the root works. I have been running rooted for a couple weeks and no problem other than what is noted in the root threads. It would probably also be good to watch the Root Junky video to get an idea of what you are doing.

Unrooting a P1010

Because the P1010 is the unloved orphan of the Tab world, I take all general Tab technical instructions that I read with a grain of salt when it comes to actually using them on this version of the box. While I used SuperOneClick to successfully root it with no problems, and I see that big fat Unroot button sitting there, I would just like to hear from anyone who has successfully unrooted their P1010 using SOC. Anyone have any caveats at all on this?
Update: For the faint of heart like me, just a note that SOC Unroot does indeed work for the P1010.

Bump, I followed the tutorial for rooting from here and would like to unroot it since I don't think it was rooted properly. Rooted apps like SuperUser give errors. I upgraded to Gingerbread and then rooted using this method and not SuperOneClick: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1520859
Just wondering how it gets unrooted using that same method since SuperOneClick seems to not work on my device.
I rooted mine without any problems at all using a different tutorial. I'll see if I can find the link when I next get back to my PC.
The 1010 does seem to be Samsung's dirty little secret but there are still some members who have it. I know a lot more about modding than when I got it so I'm about to try to do some clever stuff with it.
If it works, and if there's enough interest, I'll just have to share it here.

Samsung s4 root question
AT&T just replaced my S4 because of a constant reboot problem. The phone was rooted I used Wondershare to backup the bad phone. My question I have this new S$ and would like to have it rooted and also restore my app backup from Wondershare which is on my laptop. Is there anyone out there that can assist and certainly I will pay, just want someone reputable. Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated. Chuck
Hey, sorry, don't know how you can restore it! Although you might get a little more attention if you make a thread for this in the Q&A section. Hope that you get answers! Good luck with phone #2!

For some reason the second thread is missing, I cannot find it anywhere. If you're trying to root the i537, then use the first link. If you're trying to root the i9295 try using this method

ROOT tutorial - where are the right files?

I need to Root this AT&T Galaxy Note 3 running a stock just restored to factory settings 4.4.2, baseband is N900AUCUCNC2.
I tried to follow the video tutorial and links here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/#root
then i tried to look for the necessary files here: ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...mctr=(not provided)&__utmv=-&__utmk=126469134
I also checked here: http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/#odin
I do not see the AT&T SM-N900A model on the list. Can anyone point me to the right files?
Thanks a lot

Thanks a lot guys. I can't believe the solution was that easy after spending a day trying to follow the other tutorials without success.
I do not understand why the towelroot option is not pinned to the root section of the forum for this phone or even coming up first in google.
Thanks again

Is there a way to fix the issues (eg, AMOLED Night Clock) without loosing ROOT?

I have the Galaxy S6 Edge and I have it Rooted. I don't want to loose the capabilities that root offers but the AMOLED Night Clock issue drives me crazy, as does the screen auto brightness not working correctly. I've read that the newest update from AT&T fixes these issues but I don't want to loose root. Does anyone know of a fix without having to give upp root? Does OTA Root Keeper work? I'm to the point that if there isn't a fix I'll decide between giving up root or not. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.
Nothing?
There are a couple threads that explain how to use flashfire to update to the newer updates while keeping root

Can you link me to any of those? I've been actively looking for something like that for a while but have failed to find any information in regards to the 925A specifically.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s6/general/g920aucu2aof3-flashfire-update-t3156221

The 920 is the same as the 925 for these updates. All it is changing is system files no bootloader or already modified files.

I have seen these (in fact even commented on them in the past) but I haven't seen any 925 device users comment that they used it successfully on their s6 edge devices. Have these updates worked successfully on your ATT s6 edge??
No, I havent tried it because i am on xtrasolite 1.5 which is international OF4 based.
But after reading the threads they only add the files from the updates so you wont lose anything. The edge features are just additional files the base rom is the exact same. I would bet money you can flash them with no issues. Worse case a 5 minute oden and the time to relog into your accounts right

while that makes total sense, and thats the same message I got from reading those threads, I'll be waiting to hear from the OPs of those threads before I take the plunge.
I tried. The file that you flash through flashfire seem to install but no changes seem to be made. When I try and flash the radio and kernal I get a fail in Odin. Oh well.

Just got a S6 Active and think I made a mistake

Straight up Question: Is there any way to root?
I just picked up an S6 Active with 6.0.1 on it and was planning to root it and use it for some in car functions that I need root access for. I should have done some more research prior to buying [emoji20] Am I just not finding it or is there no known way to root the S6 Active? I have searched and it does look like there is no solution, but figured I would ask before I sold the phone again :silly: Thanks all!
No reliably known method to root. Many claims, no evidence.
Yeah dude cf auto root and odin3 v3.11.2

take note thats the first time poster has posted also there is no method that currently works on 6 or above just read the forums..... All those claiming it has been done have never posted proof or instructions....... Sorry to have ruined your hopes but thats just how things are currently!
Thank you. I ended up selling the S6 and got another device that I rooted. Thanks for your help.
Well that's just great, another device down the not-getting drain. No root, no way for unlocking bootloader or no new nice LaOS.
