Spen backwards - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

I'm just curious if they patched that problem from the note 5 to the current model? So many reviews but none mention that one big problem from before.
No I'm not going to try.

Yes i remember seeing it in a video review the top of the pen will not fit past the clicker so no, you cant slide it in incorrectly like the note 5 could

Stylus

Is there somewhere an oldfashioned, sharp-tiped and accurate stylus available? I use D3 to do quite a lot of sketching (Autodesk Sketchbook) and so forth I am disappointed with styli I bought so forth... that fluffy blob cannot be mistaken for the TIP
Sadly you want the Samsung note, but it doesn't seem to have carrier support.

Good tip!
Maybe I want just S-Pen that comes with it...do you think it would work with Droid3 display?
If the stylus is capacitive, it should work.

I've been drooling over the Note for a couple weeks now. Almost 100% sure that the device contains a digitizer in the screen which means it's not your run of the mill capacitive stylus.

Are you sure? Why do you think so?
I believe the note works on the same principals of the htc flyer which uses a digitizer and then has apps written to specifically use it.

Because I've read it in multiple places.

Actually, I am quite sad, i should have bought this instead of Droid 3...

Yeah, I was in that mindset too for a couple of weeks. Kept checking prices, looking at selling my Droid 3, how much that would cover the ETF and was looking at Straight Talk ($45/month). But now, I think I'm going to hold off at least until February/March. By then hopefully the Galaxy Nexus will be cheaper off-contract and I'll get one of them.
So anyone have a capacitative stylus recommendation?

All of the ones that I've seen have the rounded bubble tip which makes for extremely awkward writing.
on the internet, there are plenty of how-to´s on this subject - try them out, maybe you find somethig less awkward...

International Note Roms on ATT version

Hey guys I just bought a brand new ATT note and I was wondering if the roms for the international version will work on the USA model. Im doubting they would work seemless but I thought I would ask. There is alot more to choose from over here lol.

its alright with me the international version has a few months head start and with all the commercials over here i bet it will pick up
You can't use any of the GN-7000 stuff on your ATT Note, because they are two different phones for all intents and purposes. They have different processors and therefore different hardware bases.
Anything found here and flashed on ATTN would most probably brick your phone.
Sorry mate.

No need for that, I feel. You have some outstanding devs working their butts off in the ATT Note forum. They'll catch up with us in no time, you'll see.

if you really think thats true then ill stick with it.
It's an absolute certainty the N7000 will have better dev support, but maybe there will be some usable ROM for AT&T with only a couple of months delay if you're lucky

There isn't any like this one, either way, people would be talking about that and there would be a post. If you look on ebay or amazon, you can find similar cases, but not any even close to the one that google might sell in a future. The existing ones are heavier, more thick, and seem to hold the tablet pretty strong. Stay with a neoprene one untill samsung or google make one...

I think there are a lot of people waiting for something like this. I'm in agreement with other posters, if the official one (or something else that used the magnets on the back properly) appears you'll know because there'll be threads about it.

I would love to have a cover like this and it would be even better if it could fold over to make a stand like the iPad cover does

True. But until the one we see in the pictures from a few posts ago actually is released, the MoKo is a fantastic alternative.

[Q] Is this battery fake?

So I got this battery from a local store, and I was wondering if they are fake or not. The one on the right is the original one that came with the device.
Bro, show me the other side i.e. flip it and then check the serial, they should be same!

Why you think it could be fake? It have everything (Date of manufactured, serial, codes, instructions, samsung logo, the size matchs with your Note).

I think it is real. The date of the new battery is older than the one that came with your device. They may have slightly changed the appearance.
Looks real to me. Have you checked the battery weight.

Speaker hissing and crackling noise.

So, let me start by saying that I HAVE read around and there is a lot of talk about this issue here on xda, a lot of people have sent their Nexus 6 phones in to be replaced and it's a common issue! However, was anyone ever able to come up with the conclusion of it either being software or hardware based? I noticed mine does this more when the battery gets lower leading me to believe it's software related, however, I have hear speculation that the hardware is faulty. Anyone know the true answer to this question? Thanks!

im going to assume its hardware based. since my n6 doesnt have any hissing or crackling, and if software mine would have it as well, since we have the same software.

Damn, I guess a lot of people had this issue, most people who own this device have said this is happening to them, few have said theirs is fine. It's a minor annoyance, but for the hefty price tag and what I paid for mine, it's very disappointing. Does the 6p or 5x have this issue? Or not sure? They're made by different companies so I assume they don't.

I dont have this issue unless I try to use things like Viper which I removed as it really didnt do enough to justify the extra static.
As for the 6p and 5x they have other issues.
No hissing or crackling from the speakers on my N6. And I don't think we can say most people that own this device have said they've experienced this issue.

Then it's still under warranty and you should be able to get it replaced. I had a couple issues with my N6 and I got a brand new phone 10 days after I received RMA confirmation.

Thanks! I just hope my next one doesn't have this issue if I go through with this. A lot of people said they went through 3 or 4 of these phones until they got one without this issue, also, they send a brand new one right? I don't want a refurbished one.

They should send you a new N6 if they have the same color and storage, but I've heard about some receiving refurbished phone with issues and then getting a new N6 after talking to customer servicece rep.

I called their support and asked about it, he says he "you don't wanna troubleshoot it first?" And I said "not really, I've tried EVERYTHING even reflashing stock firmware!" And then he tells me that it WOULD be a refurbished model, not a new one. Umm no, I paid full price for mine when it came out!

It seems to me that the crackling has to do with voltage...
Like the crackling occurs as the battery starts to quit because it thinks there's more voltage available than really is... And as I start to put 2 + 2 together... It seems to be exasperated by using the "high performance" toggle in the kernel
