its alright with me the international version has a few months head start and with all the commercials over here i bet it will pick up

You can't use any of the GN-7000 stuff on your ATT Note, because they are two different phones for all intents and purposes. They have different processors and therefore different hardware bases.
Anything found here and flashed on ATTN would most probably brick your phone.
Sorry mate.

No need for that, I feel. You have some outstanding devs working their butts off in the ATT Note forum. They'll catch up with us in no time, you'll see.

if you really think thats true then ill stick with it.

It's an absolute certainty the N7000 will have better dev support, but maybe there will be some usable ROM for AT&T with only a couple of months delay if you're lucky

Hey guys. Im gonna call and report my phone as stolen so I get a new one. A guy at a bell shop told me I could do that LOL im just wondering, what are phones that have a good dev community right now that are on bell? Im thinking of getting a gnex or s3. But I don't know the gnex is kinda old now. also I looked at s3 and there's already pages in the developer forum lol. My dad has an s3 so I play around with it sometimes, gorgeous phone haha. I just want opinions on different phones like the s2 and what not.

The GNex is still the top developer phone if you want to run the latest Android code and the most choices in custom ROMs and will probably stay that way for another 6 months or so until the next Nexus phone. If you want another QWERTY phone tho the choices are pretty limited sadly.
well, I personally would go with the gnex - so many more of the top devs on it. and its unlocked (even though kexec dev is making that slightly unimportant)
oh, btw, if you're claiming its lost just to get a new phone, thanks for making our insurance rates go up. why not sell it on swappa and upgrade that way?

So let me get this straight. You are asking for advice on committing fraud? It is a crime you know.
Alright! Haha. Gnex it might for sure be. Just the fact its already been out for a year made me think people might have moved on to something else now. Thanks for your reply. The guy at the bell store told me to do that if I want a new phone. But thanks tips and your welcome for that.

Yeah, but if you still have the phone I hope you don't plan on using it with your carrier. I did have my phone stolen once at a theme park (yaay girl purses :<) and when I called I was asked for the information on the police report. Once you call and report it stolen they blacklist the phone. Asurion was telling me something about having some sort of tracking in one of the replacements that I received from them awhile back.
And people wonder why companies get so strict..

Advice about getting a phone

Hi!
I'm currently waiting for my SGSII to come back from Samsung, it got bricked almost two months ago...
Now, I have the chance to recover it's price (290 eur) or wait until I get it back
If only nexus 4 were available somehow, I'd get the money and buy the 16Gb model ..... I need some opinion.... what would you people do?
Thanks!!

If you can get your hands on it, buy nexus 4.
If size is not an issue, buy note 2.
If you don't mind waiting, buy s4
For the price, I was thinking about waiting around for nexus 4 8Gb version: I don't want to spend more money... but.... will I have to wait 2 more months? 3 perhaps? That's what's making me doubt: If I knew I would be able to buy it next week, I would wait.. but 2 months... it's something I would have to think about....

The price is too much.... I want a device with good specifications but what I mind most is that it should be fully open so the devs can release updates until the hardware gives up.... not until they find a difficulty like an undocumented chipset, having to stay weeks without sound, missing functions... etc etc....

While the nexus 4 is awesome and aosp is awesome, you will not find the custom ROMs to have much variation. On my sensation we had sense and aosp, but on the nexus we have aosp and we might get miui whenever that comes out with 4.2, but that's about it. If you love aosp, go with the nexus. Otherwise get your device with your bloat of choice.

Yes, we know... but there is a slight problem with the stock.... as you know....
If there were no problem with it, many more people would already have it...
The good thing is that people is starting to get a bit smarter:
-They are starting to reject the enslaving carrier contracts offering way overpriced phones in exchange of years of slavery with them
-The search for bloated-free phones.
But what google & LG are doing with the availability of the phone is really unbelievable....
Would suggest waiting for the S4, if you can. The reason is that with the Tegra 4 and Exynos 5 out, it wouldn't take time for the quad chips the current phones have to become a thing of the past. If you want the newest technology then wait. If not, buy a Nexus 4. It's the best money can buy.

I don't want to spend 600 euros on a device.... 300-400 is enough.... over that, I think is overpriced.... it's paying 200 more euro for 400 mhz more.... in the end.. I think it's not worth it.... unless you are a tech geek that needs to have the latest device.
I prefer something more modest but efficient..... A SGSII is fine nowadays: All the daily use apps work and it has the latest CM available....
If you want to play games with your device, it's another story... then, it's mandatory to look into which graphic chipset is built into the device and so......
People talk about nexus 4 as if it were so easy to get your hands on one.... here in spain it has been sold out like since always.... and, as I can read, there is little hope of getting one in the next weeks..... so, what am I supposed to do, hang on to my galaxy spica (it's my emergency/replacement phone) until the end of 2013? :crying:

Don't worry, in the US the One X people will have to wait 6 months for the update you linked. Surely by then the US carriers will have released the 4.2.2 update for the HTC One. Surely!
Well, it's supposed to be in Sprint's hands right now. Problem is, they say it's up to HTC. You know how the story goes. It'll get here when it gets here. Sprint will probably update the EVOLTE before the One.
That's Taiwan. We can only use that as a reference point, nothing else.
But I think this is just getting friggin ridiculous. Maybe there's a serious bug in the update like battery drain and only the US carriers are caring enough to resolve it with HTC?
Lets be honest here... There is a reason Samsung is WINNING! How far can build quality and sense get you when post support sucks ass. Flagships are being killed off by HTC after a year while Samsung updates OG EVO status devices. The GS2 shares the same OS as us for gods sake... This is ridiculous.
I've always been one to steer people away from the plastic GS devices, but you can't deny they are future proof in getting them. I'll have to definitely wait on next year's flags instead of dumping money day 1 like I've done the last 2 years.
And for the fanboys that say... Leave the one... No I will not. I'm NOT saying it's not the best device, but you can't deny post support sucks on our end.

Well, if we're being honest. There is a reason Samsung is winning, and it's called marketing. It most certainly is NOT because HTC phones are slow getting such minor updates like 4.2. Most people don't know anything about it, and it's not even close. The only ones who really care that much are the people on XDA who root and run custom roms, and we are the minority by a HUGE margin.
Honestly, it's even smaller than that, because some of us who root and run custom roms could still care less about this update. It brings next to nothing for a lot of us. Kernel and the ability to run 4.2 roms will be fun...but not that many people care all that much. We all know how annoying it is, it does suck..but it's definitely not the reason why Samsung is winning lol

I mostly agree. Remember when people used to call whatever android phone a Droid? Now they say galaxy, even if it's not a Samsung phone. They certainly did something right with the brand name.

Excited about what? The One X deserved the update without a doubt... They should have done this without even thinking. Problem I have is... Not even the DEV edition HTC one which is unbranded sold directly from HTC is still on outdated OS regardless of how minor the update is. If the update is so minor... Why do we not have it? Why does the DEV edition NOT have it officially? It makes no sense that this phone was release 4-5 months ago international and they just not got the update. Ours was released 3 months ago and no update in sight. Call it what you want, but I dare you say POST SUPPORT from HTC is better than POST SUPPORT from Samsung?

This could be close. Verizion usually wants something "exclusive" when it comes to the phones they carry. They may be the only US carrier with 4.2.2 for a limited time through a deal with HTC.
Unrelated note, why do people think sprint has the update already?
Since HTC doesn't seem to know how to update my phone and I obviously don't know how to enjoy it, I'm probably just gonna kill myself. What's the point of life if Satan, sorry - HTC, can't provide a menial software update?
Exactly, no point to life without 4.2. I NEED IT NOW.

Unconfirmed leaks on other sites have it pegged for carrier release in January. Plus time for them to add their BS and we're looking at late February at the earliest.
But don't get too excited about it. The devices that have received it are all missing various features. Some don't have the transparent navigation bar, nobody's getting the Experience Launcher, etc. Makes it sound more like an incremental update than anything groundbreaking.

You do realize it's not gonna be a "true KitKat experience" because we don't have a Nexus device, and Samsung will throw their "stuff" over pure vanilla Android (KitKat).

This is what has me excited. Pure vanilla Android is ugly and devoid of features. Adding Samsung's features is what makes Android at this point. Looking at KiKat on a nexus has me patiently waiting for KitKat to drop on my S4 with all the Samsung additives. Thanks God for the additives.
And Samsung reps are not BestBuy employees. At least that's how I understand it. They do not work for BestBuy but Samsung.

True. But the vast majority of users here don't get paid to sell electronics. Too many Sprint, Samsung, Verizon, Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc, etc "reps" don't know much about the products they sell.
Ever go to one of those places and know more about their products than they do? Most frustrating thing ever. If they don't know about their own products, how the heck are they going to know about OTA dates?

ROOT ? Has anyone tried this?

After doing much reading and I'm getting ready to buy the GS6 edge but was wondering if anyone tried to root with cf root? Found this article on droid life

Neither S6 verizon variant has been rooted...yet. Look at Chainfire's repository, the Verizon S6 and S6 Edge are model number SM-G920V and SM-G925V respectively (and my S6 shipped with build LRX22G.G920VVRU1AOC3 for reference). All variants will be rooted eventually, we just have to be patient.

I wouldn't hold on to all variants being rooted and have your hopes up...
I forgot to look at chain fires repository. But it's all good , I can wait patiently
Same as well.
Hopefully they will come out with a way to root the phone soon.
I just upgraded from a Galaxy S3 which was rooted.
I must have ADAWAY!!!

Agreed. If the vzw edge isn't rooted in about 3 months, hello Swappa!

I certainly hope you didn't purchase your device assuming you would keep it only if it became rooted.

Not necessarily: good secondary phone for camera especially. I got my unlocked multi carrier Nexus 6 to do all the fun stuff with.
Besides, with prediction of edge supply issues developing as it seems more popular than anticipated, always can get fair market value on swappa with minimal $$ loss.

Considering how long it takes the most recent Samsung devices on Verizon to get root (most don't at all) he might as well just return the phone now while it's within the 14 day return period. I can almost guarantee this phone won't get root, especially not within 3 months.

Yup, probably not. The S5 users were crying their eyes out and only got root through Geohot. He's gone, so good luck with all of that...
Even if it doesn't get rooted there is always the possibility of a boot exploit being found and a custom pre-rooted Rom being made available.
Speaking of root...is it worth starting a bounty thread?
There's already one going in the AT&T Section.

Chances are root on AT&T won't do anything for us. I just don't have time to keep up with the donations.
Well, it still makes more sense to have a single point of awareness for both carriers... More likely to garner the attention we are looking for. Besides like you said, you're not able to keep the tally but there is a thread over in AT&T that is. The Mods have said everyone can post there and the pledges will be separated by carrier.
Anyway, Imagonna Post a new thread with a link to the tread. in the Verizon S6 forum

I got ya, I didn't realize they were breaking up pledges between carriers over there. Since they're doing that, it definitely makes more sense to just have the one thread. I should have caught that, my bad.
