Samsung Upgrade Programme - Still Root? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Evening all,
I'm on the Samsung Upgrade Programme and worried about rooting/flashing custom roms because it will trip the Knox counter. Anyone know if the counter can be reset or if it matters when I send the phone back for an upgrade?
Thanks for any help

[Q] Factory reset on Doc´s rom?

HI - Just want to be on the safe side as i´m above to trade my Galaxy s for the new HTC incredible S , and want to know:
Right now my galaxy is rooted and running on Doc´s cooked rom and kernel
if i do a factory reset , will it still be on Doc´s rom and rooted with same kernel?
Just want to do that for clearing all my accounts before i trade it in....
Thks
Yes it will just clear some data .
But be aware you are selling a phone with invalid warranty .That may lead to the buyer/trade in refusing the phone .

[Q] Galaxy S waranty....?

Hi,
i need to know if i go for custom rom i will lose waranty of my samsung,if I restore stock rom what was on phone.....waranty will be still usable or no?
Anyone know how to sim lock to provider network?
Thanks
Anything requires ROOT or it ROOTS your device is avoiding your warranty, I guess so!, and switching back to default ROM is more like a restore, and it removes the "Superuser" or any ROOT their, so I think warranty gets back..
I don't really know the answer for your second question..
Rooting voids your warranty.. Now it comes down to can samsung find out if you've rooted or not.. For me, I've fried the memory chips twice with my sgs so they had no way of finding out i was rooted and i got warranty..
Thanks for rply...
But anyone know how to lock sim on provider because if need repair phone i must go too provider and i guess if phone are unlocked I will lose waranty?

[Q] Orange Update

Hello everyone, sorry if this thread is in the wrong section
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 on Orange UK and would like to update the OS. I have asked Orange several times when 2.3.4 will be out for the GT-P1000 and always get the same answer saying they have no info. I wish to update it but I don't want to do anything that would void it if anything goes wrong in the future. My question is what would be the best way of getting 2.3.4 onto the GT-P1000 without voiding warranty or anything like that? It is sim locked to Orange UK also and not sure if unlocking it would open it up to be able to use KIES to update it? I really am very much a novice with all this

[Q] Flash counter on SGS ?

I've read around and some Galaxy models like SGS2 and Note have this thing called Flash Counter. Each time a custom kernel is flashed via Odin, this counter increases with +1. So, the myth with flashing back stock when going to warranty is not applicable as they will know and warranty is voided. Does our model have Flash counter ? Can it be reseted ?
Nope
There is no flash counter on the Samsung Galaxy S at all.
The reason why I know this is because I have taken my phone to the service center a few times for a replacement battery, a replacement camera module and they don't even know that i've flashed my phone so many times

HELP installing stock firmware on my SM-G900a

A little back information to clear up how this started; a friend of mine has some very serious mental health issues and over factory reset his SM-G900A because he is paranoid someone will get his phone and steal his information. Its not stolen or found. The reactivation lock was triggered and hes so overly medicated he cant figure out what his Samsung account information is to recover it. He claims to have sent it back to Samsung and they couldn't recover it. I'm new to modding androids but have had a lot of success tweaking my SGH-I537.
I tried to reinstall the stock firmware to get around the reactivation lock. When i checked the properties of the phone on my pc it said it was running G900AUCU4BOF3 firmware. But a google search told me that the OF3 was a OTA to downgrade it to NCE. Several attempts with Odin "failed" every time and brought me rite back to the reactivation lock. Until the last attempt with my third different set of NCE files ended with a "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again" warning on boot up. But Kies or Smart Switch wont connect to the device now.
Can someone help me please?
