Honor 7 vs Mate S

I have the chance to replace my Honor 7 with a Mate S for only a few bucks. Should I?
I'm very happy with my Honor 7. The only difference afaik is the 5.5" AMOLED screen vs Honor's 5.2" IPS.
Does the Mate S have Android 6 in Europe?

i'd personally hold out and get a P9. The Mate S doesn't have a final version of Marshmallow yet.

We're all on beta software who is on mm. Imo if you can get a p9+, sounds like a beast version of mate S in all regards.

i´m thinking about using the Honor 7 again and sell the Mate S since the battery got smaller and sometimes drains to fast. I also miss the IR funktions. The only good thing about the Phone is the AMOLED screen but i don´t think it´s worth it.
just keep your Honor 7 and wait a bit longer or buy a P9.

If you can live without the IR funktion and the less durable battery. go for it.

I paid £399 for my mate S aboit 4 months ago and I've been looking at the Honor 7 and wished I had brought that instead at only £224...almost half the price with almost identical specs... Maybe even some extra features..
Stick with the Honor 7...better battery life and higher pixel density plus IR blaster and shortcut button

Leaving Note 4

Have had note 4 for 22 months - have had to change the note 4 twice - One was cracked lcd (with a trivial fall) and second was NAND failure. Working out the math - the phone and its replacements (including the insurance excess) has cost me £650.
Its a brilliant phone, and worked flawlessly till android 6.0.1 came along and have had a note 2 - which needed replacing aswell.
Since its time for upgrade, id love to have Note 7 but at a price premium of £750 - I dont think so.
Will take a punt with OnePlus3 - Its half the price and has pretty much the same internals. For what i have been using the OnePlus3 easily trumps

So why this topic? Just to let us know you have a OnePlus 3 now?

i'd suggest you getting ZTE Axon 7 for 450 EUR,
it has QHD resolution (like note 4, vs FHD @ OP3), with dolby stereo speakers (that users are raving about).
also it has QC3 charging and you'll be able to use your QC2 charger from note 4 for quickcharge.
OP3 has incompatible proprietary charging.
i'm personally still holding to Note 4, waiting for the Android 7 ROM.

nah, many users love version 5...
i decided to wait for 7.
2 months ago i had hopes that Note 7 could be a viable upgrade, but with it's insane price, list of problems, and curved screen, i'm somewhat forced to stay on Note 4, or look for other optons
(like ZTE Axon 7).
let's wait for Android 7 ROM and see how it goes.

From S5 coming, e.g. note 4 it's worth to upgrade,too. [emoji28]
If you have enough time, you also can wait for note 11 or S12. they will be even better
The note 8 it's an "up to date" high performance device. But in the smartphone section a 1 year old device is an old device .......*crazy world*.
If you have enough money for a few new features and want an 1 year more up to date device, wait for the upcoming devices.
Every new coming device will be a little bit more faster or better as the predecessor model........ every year!

But how should we know if you should wait for the note 9 or s10 ? We don't know what you want or need. All we know till now are rumors, nobody knows how the end product will be. So you can check those rumors yourself. And for the note 8 there are tons of reviews out there, so be sure to check them out too and decide what you need or want. It's really pointless that we discuss here what is already all over the web. Just my opinion.

I recently bought a Note 8 as it was an amazing price. Dual sim, 64gb midnight black colour, only 540 EURO, brand new. Considering it cost almost double that when released, it was amazing value. 95% as fast as a Note 9. You can see on Youtube the speed test, even faster than iphone X in most cases.
Note 8 with the Exynos processor is a BEAST. If you can purchase the Note 8 for a good amount, go and buy one. You won't be dissapointed. It is VERY fast especially with a custom kernel and rom.

Hhhh i know s5 is very old but i heard some rumors that note 9 won't that different than note 8 i just got an offer for 570$ note8 dual sim international and i think that's good however thanks for reply

Thanks a lot i have got an offer for note 8 dual sim 570$ so according to your reply it is really great deal

I was forced to upgrade from my Note 4 N910C to the Note 8 N950N with 256GB of internal storage a few months ago, and I have to say that is probably my best purchase of this year! As my N950N is a beast of a device and will run anything without any issues whatsoever. The camera takes excellent shots, which are just as good as those taken on my N910C.

I would definitely wait for the Note 9
Much better battery life expected with the 4000 mah battery.
Also a few nice tricks with the S pen.
You would regret your purchase if you end up buying the Note 8 especially when the 9 is just around the corner

You should absolutely buy it... It's a one time investment phone from my perspective.. It has everything you need in a premium phone... (telling you after using it for 8months)

Pure speculation. You don't know the Note9 will have a 4000mah battery or even what new features the S-Pen will have.
I think the Note8 is the best device I've ever had and probably will be for a while to come. I doubt the Note9 will offer anything of worth to me.

I'd wait to see a couple of price-points about the Note 9 first. The first one is obviously phone's cost. It's likely to be 1K. Is that worth it for the dual speakers and larger battery? Bear in mind screen is bigger and brighter so I'd be wary to assume battery life will be significantly better.
Then there is that upgraded pen. OK it's got bluetooth in it. But how much is that going to cost to replace now? At least with the N8 you can use N7 pens and they are relatively cheap.

If you could put up with the satisfactory Battery Life and the lack of dual speakers , this device is definitely worth your money !!
If you can afford to wait, then kindly do wait and check the Note 9 before making the final decision as the announce date for Note 9 is less than a month away.

Someone is cut haha.
I had the Note 8 and returned it as it had poor battery and wasn't fluid due to touchwiz. I wouldn't give more than 500 to 600 for the Note 8 especially when you know the Note 9 is out in a couple of weeks. You will regret purchasing the Note 8 for sure.
Wait for the Note 9 aa it will have great internal upgrades making it worth while.
The Note 8 has a 3300mah battery which is a laugh on its own on a phone with 6.3 inch display.
I suggest you wait and make the ideal purchase

A device is worthy depending 0n what it will cost, and what you expect to obtain, pure an simple , note 8 devices are droping their prices, the difference in price against a note 9 may be some 300 dlls or more , so in the end it is a matter 0f the kind of money you are willing to pay…. And what you expect to obtain…

You are missing the point.
Most people buy the Note range over the Samsung S series for the added benefit S pen, bigger screen and business usage.
In other words it should last much longer than others

im also going to probably buy a exynos note 8 tomorrow. i have a s9 plus but the battery life is pretty terrible and there at least root for the note 8.

According to all phone companies it's worth the upgrade no matter the year shut up and give them your money lol

Nokia 7 Plus vs Honor 10

Hey all! I am going to sign a new contract with my carrier and I consider to buy a new phone. I am currently using the Huawei P9. The Phone is still good but i think it will hold up good one more year maximum and then it most likely become pretty bad but I can sign a new contract with carrier only once every 2 years so now its my chance to get a new phone at kind of a good price. So I am wondering between the Nokia 7 Plus and the Honor 10. I need a bigger screen and I want it to be good cuz i consume a lot of media (youtube, movies) on the phone and I also text a lot. The camera has never been a priority for me but after I got the P9 I make more shots than before just cuz the camera is super nice and the Leica branded filters really makes the pictures look great. I dont know how is the Nokia 7 Plus camera. From the reviews I understand that it is not bad but for sure Honors camera is better. I like Honor 10 design more even that reviewers says that the Nokia looks a lot better on person but I am 100% sure that the build quality of the Nokia is far superior than Honors. I really like that the Nokia is AndroidOne device but still official support is kinda the same as others (2 years with 3 years security patches) but it will got them faster for sure. Battery life is mistery for me for both phones. I dont like the notch on Honor 10, I dont hate it, but definitely dont like it too. Overall from the reviews on YouTube that I have watched I prefer Nokia displey - its bigger, no notch and I think it have a little bit better colors. So my question is what will you guys reccomend to me ? I want to ask peoples that are using the phone now. I want to ask also how is the software experience and is pure android really better than the skins. Also want to ask is there any glitches and bugs that are more common among users cuz in some of the reviews they say the software was not perfect for sure but it was very early software and after the number of updates that you received how is the software experience and bugs and glitches ? Nokia 7 Plus is also e bit cheaper than Honor 10. Tell me also what was a good surprise and what was not using the phone for the period. I hope you can give me some opinions on the dilemma and which phone worth the price. Sorry for my bad English and Thanks in advance!

Hey, i was on the same boat last week. p9 lite and went to a nokia 7 plus very nice phone don't go for a huawei phone their updates are limited.. while nokia provides you 2 years of update and 3 years of security updates.

Yes, that is one of the main reasons I consider the Nokia. But I have a P9 which was a flagship 2 years ago and now I can only afford a premium mid-range phone since Huawei phones gone up in price too. The Honor on the other hand has the flagship Kirin 970 CPU but has a skin which I am not sure I like. So the question is Honor 10 for the design, specs and cameras or Nokia 7 Plus for the software experience, display and build quality ?

Do not mind about kirin 970.. it sucks ass.... camera on the nokia is amazing also the design sits so nice in your hand...battery ? i won't even comment on it 3a charge, i do charge from 70% > 100 in about 15mins

Deff Nokia 7 plus I had a honor 10 camera is lame
And now that they have stopped you unlocking bootloader the development for honor phones will be non existent now , no brainer better phone better up dates and android pie straight off [emoji16]

You will not regret it. Once u get the 90Hz display it will be hard to go back to 60Hz.

i have the og pixel xl, so i'm in a similar situation as you. my pixel has been more sluggish and the battery has been draining faster. it's almost 3 years old. i only upgrade when i need to and it's about time, so i took advantage of the deal. these are my thoughts and conclusions i came to after my research. i am in no way an expert on the oneplus 7 pro. i don't even have the phone yet! :laugh:
i've admired oneplus ever since they came on the scene and have recommended their phones before. i probably would have gotten one earlier if verizon supported them. what sold me on the oneplus 7 pro vs. the google pixel 4 xl is what you get for the price. even with google's $200 deal, the pixel 4 xl with 64gb of storage and 6gb of ram is $699. at $549, the 7 pro gets you 256gb of storage and 8gb of ram. the 7 pro also has a bigger battery(4000mah vs 3700mah). both phones have the same cpu and gpu(snapdragon 855 and adreno 640).
both phones have 90hz displays, but the pixel 4 xl has had issues with 90hz support since launch. the display will run at 90hz at certain brightness settings. it looks like google improved things with their november update but i think they're going to be tweaking it for a while. on the other hand, it looks like oneplus did a better job supporting 90hz and there are hacks/mods to enable 90hz all the time.
bootloader unlock and rooting are important to me too. that's why we use android and get phones like these right? that's easily done on either phone. well, the google version of the pixel, not the verizon one.
the pixel has better cameras, but those aren't important to me. i hardly take pictures and i know my nephew is going to get a kick out of the 7 pro's pop up selfie cam.
i just ordered the 7 pro, so i have zero experience with the phone. this was my thought process to choose the 7 pro vs the pixel. i hope it helps.

I did it and don't regret it! Love this phone and my xl2. But the 4xl simply isn't worth it.

I ordered one on Black Friday as well. Have you already received your phone? My order indicates shipping date of 12/13 with 12/18 as being the delivery date. Just curious if you got something similar.
