[Review] ZeroLemon SlimPower 5500mah Battery Case - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

I was able to get my hands on the new ZeroLemon case for the Samsung Note 8 and my impressions of the case are quite positive.
The case is available on Amazon.

'Note' this is the 5500 mah version of the battery case, so if you're looking for a little bit more than that then wait a little longer for the 10,000 mah version. I was told the 10k version would be available very soon.
Having owned the ZeroLemon 6300mah extended battery case for the Samsung S8+, I am happy that they have made adjustments to the design of this 5500mah case. In the S8+ version, the battery could be separated from the outer TPU shell, which made the whole battery case a bit clunkier. It also added a large plastic portion to the bottom of the case, which made the S8+ even longer.
ZeroLemon has gone with a single piece design for the Note 8 5500 mah case, and I am happy for this decision. The battery case for the Note 8 is very manageable. Although it adds bulk, it's not a Zack Morris phone, in other words, it's not a brick. It's closer to what you would expect a Mophie battery case to look like in terms of sleekness and design. It is a hard rubber texture and it feels solid in the hand, with just enough grip.
The headphone port opening is easily accessible for most 3.5mm jacks I've tried and it doesn't require an adapter. The speaker cutout as well as the S-pen cutout are precise and there is no issue with accessing them.
Zerolemon advertises the battery case as one that provides up to 115% more battery life. I found this claim to be reasonable as I found that the battery case easily gave me a full charge.
The cutout on the back is recessed because of the added thickness. I have had no problems reaching the fingerprint sensor, but it is something to keep in mind when getting an extended battery case.
While QI wireless charging does not work with this case on, fast wired charging through the battery case does work. In other words, the Note 8 will work with fast charge while in the battery case when connected to a fast charger, but the battery case itself will not fast charge the Note 8. Syncing and data transfer also works through the case.
For those who enjoy laying their phones on their screens, one issue I would raise about this case is that there is no front lip to protect your screen. This issue is not exclusive to this battery case as most that I've encountered also do not have much of a protective lip. This is something I hope more manufacturers would take into account.
All in all, I absolutely have no issues with recommending this battery case as it meets my expectations in terms of pocketability and functionality.

How accurate did you find the indicator on the back of the phone to be? I purchased a different one from Amazon before the zero lemon became available and the White and Green lights went really fast where the Blue stayed on for better than 54% of the charge cycle. The red was also very short when I went to run it down lower. Wondering if the Zerolemon is actually better quality or just the same case with their logo printed on the back.

Thanks for the review. I was really wondering about the pocketablity as well. What screen protector did you say you used in combination with the battery case?
Also, how does the S pen do when taking it out of it's slot?

I'm willing to bet that all of the battery cases are the same just with different branding.

I've inspected all of them closely online—they all look like one identical generic Chinese, only rebranded.

Did you have a screen protector on the front glass? If so which one?

looks like there's a new battery case for the note 8 that has 6500 mah capacity: https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Himi...08819506&sr=1-13&keywords=note+8+battery+case

So what shell/cases are available for the HTC Droid Incredible? I pre-ordered the phone last night from Verizon, but the cases were sold out. I'm looking for a slim-fit shell/case that doesn't add any bulk to the phone, but protects the screen and casing. I will buy two separate accessories if need be. I want to be able to buy this before the phone arrives so any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Uhm... Not being rude but.. The only cases sold out on verizon are the lame pouches and the rubber skins. The "Slim Fit Shell/Case" you want is... well... still there. Do a search on their site for Incredible and its called the Shell Holster Combo.
Where do you recommend getting a case from then? I would want a snap on cover like this one: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&archetypeId=12061
i buy most of my cases at wirelessground.com you can get a 15% off or free shipping code on retailmenot.com

Yeah I bought that and I bought the clear case rkaplins posted. Zagg is taking forever to ship my screen protector though. I'm going to receive my incredible today via fedex and I would have liked to have put the screen protector on before I started abusing the phone, but oh well.
received my shell holster combo and screen protectors yesterday from verizon and my incredible will be here tomorrow. I should just drive to memphis and get it early at the fedex distribution center. but that would be kinda crazy.
Shell/holster screen protector
I got the screen protector and shell holster combo. Works great, not much extra bulk (maybe 1-2mm on the back side)

I picked up the red/black shell from Verizon as a temp solution. Once the extd battery comes out it won't fit so off it goes.
I got this case from HandHeldItems.com It was only $5.99 (normally $15.99) It really fits well and will definitely help if I ever drop this thing.
And as you can see, the camera is well protected when setting the phone on its back. Hope this helps!
You can see it HERE

actually it should, you can use the red/black gradient case without the actual battery back for the incredible snapped on, you can have it removed entirely, which frees up more than enough room to fit the extended battery (this could be why the back was designed in this manner, besides the fact that because of this design we can have snap on cases, that fit snug and make the phone feel more solid
I think I will be ordering this one:

I just tried this with the red/black gradient case, and I'd be worried about gunk getting in there. It's a bit loose (can feel it bounce around), and you also lose one of the metal rings around the stereo jack, which may cause some issues as well (not too sure what this does, but it's attached to the back part of the cover. Maybe I misunderstood, but that's my .02.
those vertical snap 2gether cases in my experience r crap they nvr stay on very well that one kinda looks like that type to me
I have my eyes on the Seidio combo shown here too(sometimes you just can't put it in your pocket):
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bd2-hlcsr3hddn-rd.htm
I ordered that case from seidio as well as some screen protectors. I must say that, though kind of expensive, they are great quality. I like the feel the case gives to the phone and the case is very thin not adding much bulk at all.

Seidio CONVERT

Hey guys. Not sure if any of you have used the CONVERT cases from seidio for any of your other phones?! Anyway I have always loved the CONVERT triple layer cases and have always had the Extended Converts...but seidio doesn't make them yet. I'm sure a bunch of you are like me and can kill your 3100 mah battery in 6 hours and are looking for an extended battery and a case that actually fits the extended battery. If your like me please email or call Seidio and request the case so that they start producing it. I did earlier today. Hopefully you all will do the same if you want a 3 layer extended battery case.
Just so you guys can see an example of one here is the one from my Nexus
Basically you take a Seidio Active Case and add the outer rubber and arachnid shell
So phone w/ Seidio 4800 mah Extended Battery & cover includes NFC

The Active case most of you have seen

Anyway...lets hope(or I hope haha?!) Seidio starts producing these soon as the cases right now don't offer enough protection nor do they have extended battery variants
Call or email seidio and request Note 2 CONVERT Extended!
I loved the convert case on my thunderbolt... I hope the 6400mah battery fits in there.
Im still waiting for this case!! Do we have an ETA yet?
I have had this case on my Inspire 4G for almost 2 years now and it is still great. I'm still waiting on prices to drop on the Note II, but hopefully by the time I pull the trigger Seidio will have this case released. Their website has coming soon on it, so at least I know they are working on it.

That link is to the extended battery with door not the convert case.
Here's the link to the non-extended version of the case http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-note-2-convert-case-holster-black-p/bd4-hkr4ssgt2.htm
The case is listed as coming soon and the extended battery version of the case has yet to be listed.
Might have to pick one up just for the camera covering. I'm surprised that the OtterBox Defender didn't do it since they have port covers for the headphone and usb.
This would be awesome. Especially in blue.
Does the extended battery cover fit other extended battery brands?
The case is now up on their site sadly it seems to be in black only, though if you order the surface face and just get the conversion kit, you can get it in other colors.. Amazon has it as well, though its listed as temporarily out of stock

The surface itself has gotten some poor reviews on Amazon.
One of the primary reasons is that the magnetic stand interferes with the S-Pen if you don't open it up when you'er using the S-Pen so I had to say no to this case

Yeah, I wasnt really planning to get it, just wanted to get the info out there, as I know plenty of people were excited for it. if only the surface case still came with a version that didnt have the kickstand, the convert case would be awesome. As it stands, Im gonna stick with my Tuff-Luv In-Genius case till Trident makes a Kraken case for the note2, seidio gives us an OBEX, or Otterbox gives us the new Armor...since it seems unlikely Lifeproof will ever make an Android phone case, lol

Must be a popular Case-Spigen

GOTTA have a kickstand case, but all the ones I find seem gawdy and bulky, but I Saw this case and was like I have to have it. but everywhere I looked it was Out of Stock. Spent 4 days looking, and I eventually found it on Amazon Prime for 16.99 vice 39.99 on Spigen Site. The buttons on this thing look awesome, and it doesn't seem to add much bulk o the device.
I've got this case. Love it. Can't charge wirelessly with any reliability though. Have to pop off the case, but not a big deal for me.

I had this case on the LG V20, good case. However, I find that most cases somehow always get bits of sand between the phone and the case, so on my LG, I applied a skin to the back of the phone first, then the case.
I took the case off just now, to clean up the phone to ship back to Samsung expecting my Note 8 today, and there wasn't really any sand to speak of between the case and the phone. Excellent case. I have dropped my phone a few times, and broke the glass screen protector, but the case took the falls like a champ.

I have yet to experience wireless charging issues using this case on the Note 8.
I have this case, and a host of others. It's thin, works fine for wireless charging for me. My only issue is that it feels uncomfortable. I wish they would have put a more rubberized coating on the edges. Although I loved the look and the kick stand, I went with a different case that made it more comfortable to hold for long periods of time.

Plastic kickstand. No thanks.
I used one of these cases on my Note5. Held up for over 1.5 years and totally saved the phone from quite a few falls.
Never had a problem with the kickstand breaking, despite its plastic construction.
I'd recommend it if you aren't QI charging. It does have issues with that unless you take it out of your case.
I love the Spigen cases. The Tough Armor and Rugged Armor cases are now standard purchases for any new phone. They also work with wireless charging. I can't recommend Spigen enough.
I've been using the spigen liquid armor. Great balance of protection and grip but still thin. Great price and wireless charging works.

Same here. I fast charge through the case worth ease. I'm using the Choetech Fast charger w/ fan. Works perfectly.
Got mine Friday. Great case, not bulky at all. Kickstand just fine for what I need and wireless charging works great with my Samsung wireless charger.
face down picture
Hi, could someone that has this case could take a picture of the phone face down to check the separation from the surface to the screen? almost none of the cases have this picture,
I really would like to know how separated is the screen from the table once is face down,
The bigger the space, better for a face down drop.
Thank you.

I'm surprised you say that, I am using mine daily and have no issues on the stock Samsung wireless charger, and a few choetech.
I bought this case (gunmetal colour) 2 weeks before the phones release. I love this case and had the equivilent case on ym Note 4 (took several falls at varying heights and my Note 4 still works like day 1) and ordered it for my short-lived Note 7. Spigen cases are easily my favorites but this is Spigen's best case (IMO). Doesn't add a lot of bulk, buttons feel great and work well, kickstand is nice, feels great. Haven't tried with wireless charging yet (still waiting for Samsung to ship my pre-order gifts) but seems to work by other comments above so hopefully it holds true.

I bought this case but subsequently had to return it as it wouldn't work with the Whitestone Dome screen protector which on a side note is the best thing since sliced bread.
If you are looking for a virtually identical case with better screen protector compatibility try the Caseology Legion.

Note 8 face down:
Ordered this case for both my S8+ (black) and iPhone 7+ (red). They looked great initially, but after a couple weeks looked like trash. They were scratched up, scuffed up, etc. All they really did during that time was either sit on my desk at work or sit on the counter at home (I dont use the iphone at home at all as its a work phone). I traded the S8+ for the Note8, and no longer use the one on my Iphone. I tried to reach out to Spigen and they did not want to help. Very poor customer service. I found that unfortunate as they are great looking cases when you take them out of the box.

I receive ArmadilloTek series case for free to provide my feedback.
This is such a great case and I'm happy I gave it a chance. If you're looking for a rugged case, no need to spend twice as much or more for the bigger name brand. This one arrived nicely packaged with a "handwritten" note from the owners of the company. The case itself is 2 pieces and fits my S21 Ultra perfectly. I even have a LOCA glue glass screen protector and the case works great with it. The stand seems durable and works in both portrait or landscape for hands free viewing. The sides of the case are nice and grippy. The case overall is very well made and feels good in the hand. In the house I keep my phone in a minimalist case, but this one will no doubt be the case I slip my expensive phone into when I'm out and about.
Pros
1. Package and material
- Very well package and premium material
2. Design and fit
- I like the design. It is rugged case but not to bulky . The most important thing is the case feel very comfortable when i am holding it.
- Case fit perfectly with the phone. All cutout are precise , well design .
- Kickstand in the back very helpful. i can use the phone in both landscape and portrait mode.
- Volume and power buttons are on point. They are protrude out just enough to provide you a good feedback when you press them.
- The edge along the screen and around camera are raised off enough to protect the phone .
Cons
It does add some bulk, guess it is the paid price.
I recommend this case for people with kids, people work in construction and who workout outdoor a lot.
When it comes to protection, I always buy Otterbox cases, here. They are expensive, but the protection will always be flawless, it'll last you a lifetime (i still have my HTC HD2 with an otterbox case in perfect shape)
I've been using the Zizo Bolt for 10+ for over a year. Easy to hold, clean, slender, with 2/3 layered protection and it can take a hard drop onto concrete.
It's done an excellent job and shows no wear. The catch for the kick stand broke after about 6 months but I use it a lot. I get a new case anyway after a couple hard corner hits to be on the safe side; to guard against unseen material fatigue.
$20 a pop is chump change... the 10+ is not.
On the 10+ it has a much more raised cam guard and no tempered glass screen protector. Not sure on the new model if that will be an issue or not. Using the screen protector is probably optional though.

Accessories DIY magnetic S-pen holder

I've been looking for a phone casing with a S-pen holder but have not manage to find one that is minimalistic, slim and comes with a holder that doesn't add much to the overall width of the phone. So I decided to make a holder out of 48 pieces of block magnets (5mm x 2mm x 1mm) and I stick them to the phone casing and S-pen using double sided tapes.
Things to note :
1) The magnets should be strong but not too strong to cause issues with the screen.
2) Magnets should not be too near to the tip of S-pen to cause issues with the pen.
3) Double sided tapes must be strong enough to hold the magnets to prevent it from detaching from the Pen/Casing. Super glue may be better in this case.
Hope the above helps for anyone that is looking for a similar solution.

I advise against super glue as it only binds plastic to plastic. Initially it gives the impression that it works with other materials but after a while it fails catastrophically.
The dual sided tape is pretty thin so thats good. If however is starts falling, you should consider an alternative glue, NOT super glue.
Otherwise, acceptable creation.
Why so crazy ideas boys? Just buy Nillkin Aoge Leather Case : 12 USD on Aliexpress + Pen from Note 8 (black version) which suits this case much, much better than the latest Samsung pen (and is way cheaper ofc). Case quality is really good. It holds the phone perfectly well, there are no problems with the screen protectors. It also protects camera section. Leather is also good quality. And it looks expensive I do reccomend it. I have bought 2 pcs just in case.

And it looks expensive I do reccomend it. I have bought 2 pcs just in case.View attachment 5439105

What's the inside look like?is it hard plastic? Or TPU type of material?
The frame is made from TPU (I think 2mm thick) - something between elastic TPU and a hard plastic. Back is from plastic, covered by leather.

Very nice ! Congrats. I do reccomend also an alloy/metal cover for camera section (without glass). It protects from scratches. I did not buy it earlier and now have some of them. Why without the glass? It does not produce reflections
