If u have fastboot working install twrp recovry
Then flash a custom rom like cm
I did exactly the same mistake today. After the update my phone booted, everything looked fine but after a couple of seconds rebooted into recovery. Always the same scenario.
My solution was to flash SuperSU in recovery, delete cache and dalvik and reboot the phone. The phone reverted the update and everything looks fine for now. Now it prompts me again for the ota update.

If you're still stock recovery, then just use the Super SU app to full unroot and then you can update.

Is there a way to have stock recovery and root? When I rooted my Moto G (2 months agoo?) I didn't find a way to just root the smartphone without changing recovery

Sure, it's easy. Just boot into TWRP without flashing it. In stock recovery
Fastboot boot TWRP.img (or whatever you name it)
Flash SuperSU.zip in TWRP then boot to system and you're rooted.

How to uninstall SuperSU that was installed through TWRP?

I accidentally confirmed installation of SuperSU while trying to exit TWRP (I wish TWRP had an option to disable it) ;[
How do I uninstall it? As I'm unable to boot into my phone anymore((

Does your LG G4 haven't got a key press combination to go to bootloader menu ?
Oooh wait first hit on Google search.
How to Boot into Fastboot Mode on LG G4 with the help of its Hardware Buttons:
First of all, turn off the smartphone.
Then, press and hold the Power and Volume Up keys at the same time for about 6 or 7 seconds.
Plug in the USB cable for your smartphone and connect it to your PC.
Release the keys only when the download mode is being displayed.

You have to use the clean up option in the app or remove the app manually through terminal or adb shell

How can I remove the app manually? When I open SuperSU, it won't let me open it because SuperSU says something like "cannot install SuperSU" and quits.

Does it require root access? Or it's enough with just having TWRP installed to make it work properly?

TWRP is enough, no need to root.
I followed all the steps, but my device entered into a bootloop, what may have gone wrong?
EDIT: I have read I need to reflash, will try that and see
EDIT 2: I couldn't make it work despite making a clean stock rom flashing (wipe system before flashing). It's a shame, this looked promising... ?

Clean flash stock.
Set it up. Set all Moto apps. Sign with your Google account and complete the basic setup.
Then, reboot to TWRP and flash this mod.
IMPORTANT : If your main Moto apps isn't set up, mod won't work, and, that probably is the reason of the boot loop. I've tried this before and am gonna flash it again today.
IT WORKS.

Used it once again, worked FLAWLESSLY.
What I did was flash stock ROM, set it up (Google account, data restore etc...), open all Motorola apps and grant the permissions they ask for, close and re open those apps again. I stayed on the ROM for about 15 minutes and then I rebooted to TWRP then flashed this package (and magisk).
Rebooted and it worked.

what you can do is, download the zip file for the update manually. extract it, and then goto your twrp, clear dalvik cache, cache and then flash these new images exept for recovery. see if it works. it is only a suggestion, it may lead to some problems

Question Upgrade rooted NE2213 from A12 to A13

Hi,
Do we have an upgrade path to install full OTA of NE2213_11_A.13?
Not sure how to install the update and keep or re root the install? Would also love to keep internal storage intact.
Nevermind. Managed to update following https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-magisk-unlock-root-keep-root.4436663/#post-86896107

1. Don't recover Magisk in first step
2. Download the Incremental Update. It will fail 3 times. After the phone offers you the Full OTA Update 4.xx GB.
3. Download and Extract it
4. Install Magisk into other Slot. DONT PRESS RESTART
5. Go to settings and press Install Now on OTA.
6. Phone will reboot and install update directly. After reboot, root is still there

Yes thats true. But before you click install, you can install magisk into the other slot without pressing restart in magisk. After you click install in the update and it will install and reboot automatically. I did this steps and got still root after the update
