Gray/white screen on fire 7 2015 - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, my son put his fire 7 (2015, $50 device) to charge and when he went to check on it the screen was white then faded to gray. We haven't done anything with it, we can still hear sounds from it when we plugged the charger back in but that's about it. Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Sorry I can't upload a pic

[Q]Nexus one warranty on screen

Last night, using my nexus one, I sent a text and put my phone in my pocket. When I took it out 10 mins later, my screen was broken. The screen is not cracked in any way. The top of the screen was filled with yellow pixellines, the bottom was black. As the evening proceeded i kept it in my pocket, it still received text messages and this morning my alarm went off, so it's just the screen. As i checked on it, the scheme on the screen changed. purple colors in the bottom corners, totally black, a light pinkish layer across the entire screen...
I was wondering if this would fall under the warranty and if anyone has had a similar problem.
If it were mine, I would certainly be trying to get it fixed under warranty.
OUCH! Post how it turns out please. Good luck.
N1 running psfreedom recovery and MIUI! sent via XDA app =D
and does anyone have any experience with sending the telephone in from abroad? like... europe

[Q] Kindle Fire HD 7" screen issues

Guys I just bought a used Kindle Fire HD 7" (not sure it it's the current version or the original KF HD as it has 32GB of storage space on it) that has some major issues.
It alternates between either not showing anything on the screen with the only indications that it is turned on being that it makes a noise when I disconnect it from the computer I have it connected to, and the kindle fire hard drive disappears, and intermittantly it displays a little over half of the screen, with a distinct grey overcast, with a 1 inch or so band of solid grey and the remainder of the screen displaying as black.
When I rotate the screen the messed up portion doesn't rotate with the screen. And putting it into fastboot mode with a factory cable shows the same behavior with the screen either not displaying at all or only displaying half of the fastboot screen.
Is this a screen issue or a defective motherboard?
I would like to fix it and use it but want to make sure I get the right parts before I try.

Well you can try a full factory restore but you may be looking at a hardware issue.
Sent from my Nexus 7 Flo running Odex SinLess ROM 4.4.2 with ElementalX kernel using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I did use fastboot to recover it back to factory but it didn't fix the issue unfortunately.
I bought a new screen and digitizer assembly (basically the whole front of the kindle fire HD minus only the plastic that is attached to it with glue), that once I get in I will replace the screen on my messed up one.
the replacement screen fixed the issue, sorry I hadn't responded to update the thread.

[Q] Kindle Fire HD boot loop....kinda???

So my daughter has had this Kindle Fire HD since Christmas 2012. She dropped it. While there are no outward signs of damage, it won't turn on. Here's what it does:
When plugged in to the wall charger it flickers like it wants to come on. The kindle fire screen will flash for like a second, then black again, over and over, forever. Sometimes the kindle fire logo is fully formed, sometimes it's distorted with lines through it. It does this with the battery plugged in, and without.
When plugged in to the computer USB port I get nothing. Although, once, when we turned off the lights in the room, you could see that the back light was lit up a little and flickering, brighter on the left side.
When not plugged in at all we get nothing.
I've tried holding the power button in for 10, 25, 30, 60, and 90 seconds at a time, to no avail. Nothing changes.
I've searched the internet and I can't find anyone with this problem, or anything even remotely similar. Searching "dropped kindle" gets me broken screens, searching "boot loop" or "won't turn on" gets me hard reset results, searching "flickering screen" gets me results about some screen flicker issue I guess has been experienced by some.
I'm pretty handy when it comes to most things, and I can follow tutorials and instructionals like a champ, but I am not an electronics guy, so without guidance I have no clue where to start.
Does anyone have any clue about this, or has anyone experienced anything like this?
Someone please help!

If this is something that started right after it was dropped then it sounds like its a hardware issue and not much you can do about it. Being that it is so old I seriously doubt Amazon would do anything but I would still give it a shot, they have surprised me before with things they will replace. Just depends on the agent you get on the phone.
PS- Might just be time to upgrade, lol

That's what I was thinking too, but then there was a development.
Ok, so I was messing with it again last night and discovered that if I actually physically flex the device I can get it to come on and work normally. If it relaxes too much or if I flex it the other way it goes off instantly. Flexing occurs by pushing on the center on the back of the device, while pinning the top and bottom of the device. When I say flexing, I don't mean so much that it bends the device, more pressure on the center back, but if don't hold the top and bottom then it doesn't work, so it's very much a flexing motion.
I'm thinking motherboard is cracked, or motherboard component is knocked loose. Does this sound reasonable given the circumstances?
Doesnt sound like anything was actually broken/"cracked", probably just knocked loose. But unless you feel comfortable taking it apart and looking to see if it is something obvious, which could be as small as a resistor loose or as big as some data connector/cable popped loose, then a new one is probably going to cost less(99$ on amazon for 2014 fire hd) than getting repaired.

Replaced screen, still black

Hi
A month ago my screen suddenly went completely dead, the phone it self was functioning normally except the screen, \
so i posted this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/help/how-to-make-screen-dead-t3175115
then i decided to tear down the phone, i did and i played abit with the lcd flex cable, i got the screen to work but with very low brightness and a lot of blinking, i played a bit more with the same cable
and tried powering up the phone, the screen gone completely black again so i thought i broke the cable
i ended up buying this
www.aliexpress.com/item/LCD-touch-s...ria-Z-L36h-C6603-LT36-display/1449119790.html
it arrived and i played a youtube video of the device dis-assembly and copied every step exactly, tried powering the phone up and the new screen is black!
anyone have an idea what's going on?

Maybe something not connected, or because it's aftermarket screen. There are lots of screens for sale but I don't believe they all work as good as the OEM screen.

Did you ask the seller to exchange the item? There is always a 10% chance of a black screen when buying a replacement screen.
If you tested the screen by just connecting it to the motherboard, and it didnt work, you should be able to get a replacement for free(but you will probably have to pay for the shipping when sending the broken one back)
By the way. I need to get a new screen replacement(the current one started flickering and glitching after 5 days of usage-I literally held the phone on the desk, answering calls and putting it back on the desk,so I couldnĀ“t have damaged it),but I cant waste money. Was the package in a good state?
If anyone can recommend a cheap, but working screen(I dont care much about the 10% weaker colors,I just dont want the screen to flicker and glitch out),I would be extremely grateful.

Woke up to a Purple and Black screen; screen not cracked. Not sure what's going on

Anyone else experience this? I went to bed, and even woke up to a working phone (xtreme alarm went off) and then later on a I noticed a purple and black bleeding all over.
Anyone know of a good place to purchase a digitizer?
Has anyone here replaced the LCD assembly on their own?
