[MOD] Camera during call and shutter sound on/off Enabled
Very easy mod to do just make sure your rooted and have root explorer on your phone.
Go to root explorer scroll down to system click on it scroll to CSC click on it now scroll down to Feature XML. Open it in text editor. Look for <CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>True</CscFeature change the text from false to true that will open the option in the camera so that you can turn the sound on and off. Now look for <CscFeature_Camera_EnableCameraDuringCall>True</CscFeature change the text from false to true. Take note to the pic below. Once you do that back out and save than reboot your phone and you're all set.
I love the 90s. Good times.

No problem and I appreciate you putting it out in the open. Good idea. Maybe you should turn it into a tips and tricks type of thread? See if we can't get more of these types of secrets to come out. As things are brought up and confirmed you can add them to a list in the OP for easy access.
Good stuff. Thanks fellas!
After saving my selection, it said something (I noticed at the last minute) about saving original text before I made the edits. Catch where that file is stored? Or I could be wrong (seeing things lol).

I actually like the default 9.6 megapixel. The camera is in 16:9 ratio

I tried the edit, it didn't work for me. I'm not new to modding but new to Samsung. I used ES to make the edit, file changed and everything but no camera sound toggle. What could I have done wrong?
I posted this in the picture thread but while in the camera app you can say "SHOOT" to snap a picture. That way you don't have to fumble with the camera button while holding the phone one handed.

You have to turn Voice Control on first in Settings. Then click to the left of the On/Off toggle where it says Voice Control and make sure the Camera selection is checked for this to work.

After you reboot, open the camera app and go to Settings. You should see the camera, video camera and another Settings icon. Click on the Settings icon, scroll all the way to the bottom and you should see Shutter Sound. I just did it and it worked well for me. Thanks E for the post and craw for the mod. Thanks button hit for both of you.

The camera hacks work. Re-verify the file was in fact edited and turn off and on completely.
Another note, there are settings for autocorrection in the SIP keyboard in the feature xml. But they dont do anything if changed except to enable the option in keyboard settings. Wonder if its disabled in the keyboard app itself.

First time facebook contact synchronized very well and contact picture were pretty well, but after few days many contacts have dots like below pic,
Plz give me solution
That's intentional.
Mine do that too, but if I select to use the G+ photo, it will clear it up. I think it has something to do with the size of the image when it initially syncs.
Click on the little camera icon when on the screen you showed (bottom right on the photo), and select the G+ option from there.

i also have this issue
the contact pics that synced from google+ have this,
maybe its coz of the phones 469ppi density that inferior old pics show like this?

That's the way HTC made it. Every photo should have this filter as far as I know. There's a mod in the mods section to remove it.

When I moved from the galaxy 3 to this one I had the same iasue but if you select a new picture from your gallery it will be fine. My suspicion is that the galaxy 3 had a lower resolution vs this one.

obviously you have no idea what "professional" means. tip: go and check the FV-5 app that the OP has mentioned in the first post.
it's like someone would ask you for a good mirrorless camera and you would refer him to Samsung Galaxy Camera instead.

FYI: Take a look at my post here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481316
I understand that everyone wants to make this camera in the Ultra better... Its not going to happen! The camera is average. Simple.
The best you can hope for is an HDR app that composes images and makes them look saturated.
FV-5 doesn't do what it says. It makes slight improvements in noise reduction, but the settings don't effect the image like you would expect. Especially the ISO... disappointing...
There are many professional apps that cost 5$ or more, that hardly do anything different.
The advice i offered was relevant despite you not knowing any better.
additionally... the stock camera does offer location by GPS and time in shot as well.
Are we talking about Z Ultra or Z1?

As if that matters? Camera app for android is a camera app for android... Only thing that might matter is the fact that (for example) ISO settings can not be controlled by 3rd party apps as far as I can tell so far.
I've searched all of the Google play and let me tell you something, android just does not have any pro camera apps... You're gonna have to wait a long time for that!

I've tried a lot of apps FV5 is probably your best bet snap camera seems to have an active dev that keeps improving it. If you want to get the most out of you camera your best bet is to use FV5 in PNG format take the full size picture and use lightroom or PS to post process your images. Perfectly clear does a pretty decent job if you want an automatic enhancing app.

Thread title made me think of an app of the same name that works on the iphone called procamera.
Its claim to fame is it allows you to set focus and exposure seperately. So you can tap to focus, lock it then tap to set exposure, say in spot elsewhere without losing the earlier focus.
Wondered if anybody knows of something similar in android ?

Hi,
I bought FV-5, I think procamera is much much much better, I tried every kind of configuration to get better results from fv5 but no way. Please download my pictures:https://www.dropbox.com/sh/x20hdehuizwewi5/8AWuFiitsu
If you zoom on the hat you could see how procapture is able to reproduce much more details.
What do you think?

I've been meaning to root my gs5 but I'm wondering if there's any camera mods. Aside from debloating, increased camera performance is really all I need (it usually takes me about 3-5 tries to get a non blurry picture) but I'm worried that once I'm rooted, I can't complain to att and get a new s5 since it might be a hardware problem
Tl;dr anyone found a good camera mod or know someone who is working on one?

i opened a thread about this and have still yet to find a solution... i might have to go back to using a 3rd party app.. CameraZoom+ worked pretty decent for me on my previous s4 and note3.
i have noticed that turning on "Tap to take pic." and tapping the screen to capture the photo has been working decent.

possibly.. i noticed that when the camera snaps the pic and it flashes the white boarders.. that particular moment doesnt seem to be the actual moment that the photo is taken.. so maybe when the screen flashes, we think the photo is taken and move our hands out of instinct ?

Though the nexus camera works great on the nexus line I've noticed on my so when I use it to capture something that is moving like my child there is a delay in capture...the screen will flash with what I thought I got but when I look at the picture it will be a delayed shot often missing what I wanted. The Samsung camera is not alol that bad.

Yeh I don't get it either, I never take blurry photos. See so many complaints on here and other forums and no clue why, my friends S5 doesn't take blurry pics either. I only turned off pic stabilization. I just make sure the the image is in focus before shooting.
