This thread is for discussion and feedback on my LG Themes, and I'd appreciate some feedback and any potential bugs I may have missed(There shouldn't be any). If you are interested head over to my Google Plus or my Twitter or if you prefer Facebook
I am open to input, future requests, bugs, etc. I plan to make more themes, you can get an idea of the other stuff I've done on the V20 so far.
Please do not post links to the playstore here as its against XDA rules and in order to remain compliant I have no posted links here to the play store. You can search for me in the play store or visit one of my social media sites. Make sure you get the G6/V30 version as the G5/V20 themes will not work on our phones!

Just installed the T-MOgenta theme and applied it, but I'm not seeing the results as shown above. I wasn't using a theme before, but applied the default one again to be sure. The wallpaper changes, as does some other areas, but to an orange hue instead of magenta.
I did change my DPI to 500 using the ADB shell command. Could that affect it?

The DPI is what caused it. I reverted to a standard size, and the theme applied as shown in the previews above.
@fryingpan0613 Any chance of getting the theme to support varying DPIs? If possible with the restrictions LG puts in place, that is.

I guess my replies yesterday didn't go through... I can mess with the other dpi and see what happens after I finish the theme I'm working on. I've never really touched the other DPI since these were for xxxhdpi.

Awesome I'm glad you liked it! That's one that most don't like because it's "boring", but sometimes simple is nice. As far as the icons, I don't touch any icons because I personally hate when not all apps carry the same theme, and I can only touch LG icons so I just leave them stock on all themes.

Yeah, that's how I feel too. I'd rather the icons just be left alone if they can't all be themed. I don't mind stock colored apps, it's when only a few change that it drives me batty.

Just got the aquifier theme and I absolutely love it. It makes much better use of the oled display than the white default theme does and I love the color blue. (I've always been a sucker for the way that android ics and jellybean looked).
I have the Verizon v30 vs996 and the theme works fine. I had to get the theme from the play store and go into homescreen settings and theme to apply it.

I'm getting close to finishing this theme for the normal resolution, then I'll probably go and do the other resolutions for those that change dpi before I release it. This one has taken awhile because I have to change basically everything for this theme to work.
I actually started this on the v20 but I didn't get it to my satisfaction before turning it in for the v30 so it never got released.

I made a few really different themes on the v20, but they weren't popular. Like I made one that was desert digital camo themed, I loved it but it was a massive flop. I made a really awesome red white and blue theme too.

I like that it's darker than white, but not blacked out. I know there's a "white UI must die" obsession with AMOLED devices, but then all devices just look the same.

Finally the Purple Nights theme is complete and published, including support for other DPI and screen resolutions in settings (settings > display > screen resolution). This theme has taken awhile to complete, I have been working on it since I got my V30, and I spent a few weeks on it for the v20 (it was never released) before that. The lower resolutions have to be manually resized and repatched, so it will take a while before I can get all my previous themes up to date with the resolution fixes since I basically have to recreate the theme 2 more times at lower sizes.

I see that nobody has made a Super Mario theme for the Epic. Lately I have been messing around and trying to learn how to theme and decided I would try to make a Super Mario theme. I havent done much and I have made a few icons for the status bar and what not. (as you can see I am using the honeycomb fusion theme and just changing icons here and there until it completely transforms into a completely new theme)

I know the time on the lock screen is messed up (I will be changing that tonight) and the status bar I am either considering making the clock text and the battery text black.. or maybe changing the color of the entire status bar... since its hard to see the battery text..
I am mainly making this for me and to get more experience with themes... So I am also wondering... would anyone else like to use this theme? Should I continue developing it?

This is just on the edge of awesome, OP. The notification bar needs a little work, but otherwise, very cool. Would love to have this on the EC05 framework-res, so it's compatible with SRF1.1.0.
I think this is looking very awesome. Hope you keep going with it.

This theme is awesome. I would be all over it.
Agreed with many that this reeks of total awesomeness. It definitly needs some work/polish, but for saying it is your first theme, you are coming along very nicely! Everyones first project needs some polishing work Regardless, I agree with the others that the notification bar needs some work. I would definitly encourage you to keep developing this theme though, and when I get some spare time I'd even be willing to give you a hand on certain things. Great job so far man keep up the good work!
Also, IMHO if it were my theme, I would make a koopa shell battery icon, like a top down view. The current battery is just too hard to see. Just have the %age number inside the shell. Blue/Green/Yellow/Red colors change for battery levels. I think that'd be a neat idea.
Also, maybe if you used the SMB1 Lvl 2 (The first dungeon stage) Brick texture across the notification bar, that might make all the other things and the clock more readable, since it's a nice Dark Blue/greyish color. Again not trying to tell you what to do, just saying what I would modify myself If I decided to use it Other cool ideas incoming after my brain generates on this at work some haha.

whoa thanks man.. i appreciate the ideas.. ill get working on different versions of the battery icon... but i dont want to keep getting caught up in revising things or making different versions of something (like the battery meter)..i polished it up last night and it took quite some time (since there are around 202 images for it (including the charging icons))..
ill definitely try that texture for the notification bar... i was wanting to keep it looking like the 'status bar' for SMB3... at first i tried the light blue color and it turned out horrible..you could read anything really... then i tried the secondary color (the beige that you see) and obviously you can read stuff..just not that clearly (the battery icon)... SMB3 was revised and had updated graphics in the Super Mario All Stars game, and the status bar was changed to a darker hue of blue... which i could try to use and it should make the text more readable..
i do want to try to keep it looking like the status bar because thats where all your information was in the game...
i am definitely open for ideas...im still kicking around ideas in my head for the wifi signal icon and the 3g...i have ideas for the 3g symbol...just need to put it in photoshop and do the work... but for the wifi... yeah...i dunno about that one yet lol..
if anyone knows what the image name of the 'call lock message notification surrounding box' is, that would be great (its the box that surrounds the mail icon on your lock screen (where you drag down to view the message))
I was trying to find it last night but gave up lol
again..suggestions are greatly appreciated... if you have any ideas/thoughts about the status bar icons, just drop me a line and ill take a look at it.. im going to really try not to get caught up in revising the same icons over and over again and not doing anything else to the theme.

I do have a flashable zip that you can flash with CW3..but its just a rough one... i mainly took the honeycomb fusion flashable zip, put my icons in it, and renamed it to a different name.
This looks really good. I love the stars and the notification really doesn't look that bad. I like the coins and the number next to them. The shells are a cool idea but I think may be better for wifi or signal strength. I think black text in that notification bar would be better than changing the color of it as well. I would certainly look forward to trying this out once your comfortable with how it looks. Keep up the great work!

This is really cool. I'm not even that big into SMB or putting themes my phone, But I would kick the tires on this... kick them real hard.
As for Ideas they are endless, put the best ones that came to mind would be to change the beautiful widget weather icons. Change the sun over to the Angry Dessert Sun. The clouds into the clouds in the background of SMB 1. When its raining it could be that guy that drops the spike balls that crawl around. The moon could be a ghost.
I like the Battery icon as the coin counter.
Still working on this.. have been very busy with other things this week... I'm kicking around ideas and stuff for the dialer and trying hard not to screw up the dialertabactivity.apk lol. Ill post a pic soon of the dialer, when I get back to a computer

That's actually easy. Well part of it. The dialer tab activity.apk which has the dialer and tabs on top I can clear for you. The phone.apk which holds the in call dialer not so much. I've failed trying before. my older froyo crystalline theme has the regular dialer clear like your talking about but I have to warn you I leave a small portion at the top the dialer just under the tabs black cause when you dial a number or dial from a website you cannot read the number in white against almost any background. You do the work download that theme, copy the dialer tab activity apk out of it, transfer the drawables to the epic dialer tab activity and I'll write the code to clear the bg for you

He posted that he is not supporting the theme since he no longer has the phone. Send a pm and request to port the theme to the Epic. I'm sure he is a good fellow and will say yes.

The 512 area for Austin Texas. I am in the 210 (San Antonio) the arm pit the US of A. Came here for training back 1970' and said I would never be back. Well what can I say, horses, german shepherd's and women keep me here. My quote before being used in Topgun, "Lets kick the tires and light the fires" Now I wear my tire around my belly and don't light the fire because I have gas.

EDIT: have a suggestion its tiny but just saying, when you download something in the notifications menu the downloading bar is a bit big and overlaps the text above it.
and a few glitches where you go into settings and the phone just goes back to desktop. Plus noticed when you put on usb and the menu pops up for mass storage or charging or something else. its just quits out and doesnt say those thing it says samsung kiez,media player,mass storage.

Beautiful theme man. Much appreciated. Out of curiosity why is the version of dolphin in this theme such an old one. Its 4.2 and I believe its up to 4.5 now. Even a 4.6 beta is out. Just wondering if maybe there's something better about 4.2. If I reinstall 4.5 wilk I lose the theme?

This ROM is based off of Verizon GB OTA 4.06.605.03 for Incredible and uses tiny's 10/23 no wifi n kernel. I've started adding some red theming(more to come) and I've also added some tweaks for speed, battery life and RAM optimization. I also suggest using spare parts to set screen and transition animations to fast. I also use it to turn haptic feedback off for the softkeys.

Dalvik and cache wipe is fine if flashing over a previous version of this ROM... Full wipe recommended from anything else.

Works well for me too. I have the red batt. cover on mine.
And IMO Sense 1.0 runs the best on the Incredible. It's always Sense 1 or AOSP for me. I can't stand the lag on the newer Sense based ROM's. There cool, sure, but a bit too slow.

Alright, got it up and running. Some suggestions from me would be:
1. Remove the task manager from the quick settings. It only works on the newer Sense.
2. Maybe theme the notification pulldown, transparency, or all black (EG. McSense)
3. I really love the Incredible 2/Thunderbolt 3G Icon.
4. Red overscroll glow would be neat.
5. Maybe some red on the lockscreen?
Mostly all cosmetic, fairly minor, easy changes.
Oh, and maybe some more de-bloating. EG, extra ringtones/sounds, 3G mobile hotspot can be replaced with wireless tether, Adobe reader, Facebook, Quick office. Or at maybe move them and make then (easily) removable.

Good point on the task manager... I meant to take it back out and forgot . I'm planning a slightly transparent black pulldown with some red highlights and maybe test... have to play with ot to get it easy to read. Red overscroll would be pretty sweet too... I'll work on that for 1.1 and I'm also working on something for the lockscreen. So far I've just shadowed the text in red but it's not real noticeable. I was thinking about a red slide down iron cross from my Blackened theme but might make that as a option and have a completely different lockscreen..

Here you go. I'm sure you know this, but just in case: replace these guys in framework-res.apk>res>drawable-hdpi. I think they will look sick.

I recommend to set the font size to small.
How to install?
Install like any other inofficial apk.
If you have the current version, you should be able to install this over without to deinstall and to make a backup.
However, I recommend doing a backup (Settings->Chat->Backup Chat History) and a fresh install then later on (Don't forget to restore the backup when asked).

Current Smooth WhatsApp Version : 2.8.9108 - No theme update till end of the month, or critical updates. Sorry, I'm kinda busy.
Bugs:
(Especially the blue version) Single lined messages cause a line throughout the middle of the speech bubble. Only fix is to set the size to medium or large, but then it doesn't look quite good. I can't find a fix for that, but I'll keep trying.
Do you like my theme but not the colors? I take requests for other colors like for the speech bubbles or the send button. Feel free to post here or PM me!

The send button is actually from one of my earlier attempts and not really made for this, but I think it's not that bad for this theme. However, when I have a better, more minimalistic, idea, I'll change it. Or do you have any specific ideas?

I'm sorry but I don't have any ideas how to make a jellybean-like theme. You should check out WhatsApp Plus, an awesome Mod where you can modify WhatsApp and make your own theme. Try to make it with that. Or you can check out the themes from Yorzua (his dark mods) and Seimu. Seimu has no jellybean theme but many others, maybe he'll take your request and try to make a jellybean Theme. But he's not posting the themes here anymore, so check the thread or google.

I mean in terms of the actual backgrouud. So that when in the app - i can still see my main wallpaper.
Why not just go all holo, you have the status bar and most of the elements correct. Grab the resources from any ICS rom and start there, use available screenshots to give it the clean holo look. JB is based around holo just like ICS, so you can kill 2 birds with one stone. So far, this looks great, but the green doesnt quite fit with the default holo look and feel. Tip: you can refer to built in android resources to go give it a native look and feel, have a look at the theming tutorials on the android dev help website and you will see what i mean

I doubt that I can make that. There are some people on XDA who make transparent mods, widgets etc. Try to ask them and give them my apk. But I don't know how to make that. I'll try to look into that in the next few days.

The problem is that I don't know how a holo theme would look like. Send Button from the official messaging app? Light Blue gradient? What about the speech bubbles? If you give me more specific information about how it'd look like, I'll work on it.

There is still different bubbles when the conversation is grouped compared to individual messages. Can you make everything to the squarish bubble instead of the stock bubble?

I know, but I think I will only update when there's an Update in the Play Store (or a prompt at the start of WhatsApp to update the version). Updating a Theme for WhatsApp is quite annoying and with my small popularity of this theme (20 Downloads) it's not really worth it.

For the black version...I still have trouble to make the font white since WhatsApp always crashes. Working on it!

How do you mean that? Can you explain that a bit more precisely? (Seimu has a Google+ Theme if you want something like that.)
I've created this thread so people can hopefully share their setup for substratum whether just themes or other things you can do in substratum like changing your navigation bar etc.
I personally prefer dark themes like the majority of people seem to do and I am only using a swift dark substratum theme and I am looking for other themes and to hopefully use combinations of different themes.
Please share your setup and possibly screenshots if it looks good. I won't bother because mine is basically just black and boring. The point of this thread is to mainly help people find new themes and what combinations you might like to try. Please post below and hopefully people can find a good theme that satisfies their needs.
I personally am looking for a dark theme that stands out and is bold with good contrast in colours. I'm happy to pay for themes if need be.
Edit: My current favourite theme is flux and will probably be deep darkness when it comes out in the future.
Edit: I'm now using compound as my main theme and flux and Lone4subs and swift dark to fill in any apps that compound doesn't cover. Still waiting for deep darkness:crying:
Personally, my favorite theme is Outline but far. I have a huge collection, and no idea how much I spent on these themes so far, but I don't mix themes too much. Only mixing I've ever done was between Belo and Outline to get the battery to show on the white QS panel. I normally use Outline's Nav though.

If a swift dark substratum theme was free then do you think that or do a dark project is better?

Well, I've always been a fan of the #LongLiveWhiteUI and avoided dark themes due to the black on black text. That drives me crazy. [emoji14]
It's probably due to using MIUI in the past, which is just beautiful, but I'll have to give a dark theme a chance. I buy them to support the devs, but never actually applied one, lol. [emoji14]

I feel that dark themes look nicer and are better on the eyes especially at night time. I haven't had a problem with black on black but it could depend on the theme you downloaded. I had black on black until I installed the overlay for android system.
It's there any way to make substratum work on original firmware with Root ? I'm on 7.1.1 5 Jan 2017 version ... Cause Everytime I tried i ended in bootloop.

I think some themes work bit not the majority of them because it doesn't have full oms support. Just get a custom rom, why not

Good to know some issues have been fixed in Chad's Uber. Might try it again or at least try latest Faster kernel with DU to compare battery life and performance.

Substratum themes have included an anti piracy checker... So if you have apps such as "lucky patcher" installed, uninstall it first
