Firmware Finder to rolling back into EVA-L09C02 (Vodafone) - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hi, I rolled back from Android nougat EVA-L09C02B346 if i recall correctly to MM because i wanted to see if my battery last longer (i thought it but the drain is near the same..) and to test performance. I used the double "update" method from huawei and now i'm stuck into EVA-L09C900 and i get no updates to go back into Nougat.. In Firmware Finder if i use the old code i had from my Huawei, (the L09C02) in the update B346 with the imei check i got a message saying that i can install that update but i don't want to take any innecesary risks.. I can use FF to update right into that version or i have to do something more difficult? thank you and sorry for my bad english

Updating L09C440B138 to B139

Hi all.
I'm a fairly new P9 owner with moderate android experience. I'm not totally up to speed with the Huawei build numbers. I'm currently on C440B138 and using the firmware finder I see B139 available for my device. This should I believe update the device to 4.1.1.
The phone is on UK network EE and is on contract (network locked) I would have thought that I would see the B139 update on the phones internal updater but I get no updates available.
What do you think the risks are if I just go ahead and update to B139 using the firmware tool? Am I likely to end up with a useless phone if I use that update. The plan would be to update to 139 and use the method on here to update to EMUI 5.
Or do I wait and hope that EE releases 139 and the EMUI 5 update at some point in the future?
Additional - Does anyone know if EMUI 5 includes the adoptive storage feature?
Many thanks
Any news
Hi i have the same problem too, i have downloadet the huawei update b139 on my phone . But when i extract it its no update upp inside..any news??
In the web i see other relases abou b380 with nougat..i try to update but i t fails.. ..pffff

EVAL09C432B166 - update to B360 or B361

Hi all,
I'm a complete newbie here so would appreciate any kind responses being kept suitably simple. I've just bought (early January) a P9 in the UK, sim free, unbranded running EVA-L09C432B166. Its last security update is July 2016.
I came to this phone as a warranty replacement for a Nexus 6P boot-looped by the December Andriod 7.1.1 update on the basis it would get Android 7.0 soon. However, there is no sign of this via the updater or the new HiCare app. I've tried installing full versions of B182 (though I might need this as a step to Nougat), B360 and B361 from Firmware Finder using the dload method (volume up/power button and dialler method) but they all fail at around 37-40%. Does anyone have any ideas whether the B166 version will ever get an OTA update to Andriod 7.0 (Huawei reply with the same general statements about it being rolled out in batches) or can advise what I am doing wrong when trying to update manually?
Thanks in advance!!

Try installing B182 MM and than procede to these steps. This is how I managed to go from b182 to b361 (than I got an OTA update to B387 ):

Thanks very much, but...
Hi, thanks very much for your response. Unfortunately I appear to have two problems with it.
Firstly I have been unable to update to B182, it does not appear in Hi Suite or Updater and I have not been able to update via dload as the update fails.
Secondly, I run a Mac not Windows machine so no Hi Suite for me I understand.
Im afraid you will have to use a windows machine. Following these steps you will have zero problems. I was also on B182 and all went smooth without a single problem.
edit: sorry,, I read "I have been able to update to b182". which version are you using right now?? what methods have you used to get to b182? and lastly what errors have you encountered?
I'm on B166. No update shows in update or HiCare. I have tried updating to B182 using firmware finder using. dload. I have tried using both power/volume up buttons and the dialler method with dload in both internal memory and on SD card. All methods fail at around 37-40%..
I am not an expert at all so any advice would be great, thanks.

I'm resurrecting this thread as am in exactly the same boat Steve. Did you ever figure this out?
Contacting Huawei customer services, they were cagey saying the update would be rolled out in batches then when I gave my IMEI number to find out, they became very cagey refusing to confirm or deny it would be updated at all..
Considering returning my new (cheap deal) P9 if it cant/won't be updated to N and EMUI 5.0...
S
After lots of 'pushing' by Twitter message. Huawei confirmed update process commenced in Q1 of 2017 but they would not commit to whether it would end within that period. They confirmed that my P( would be updated and that if it wasn't updated by the end of the process they would push it manually to my IMEI. SO ti does appear I will get it - eventually.
Just a little bit to add to the mix, I sent my imei to Huawei today only to be told that I'd bought the phone from carphone warehouse and the firmware id's slightly different and won't be updated until May, they wouldn't say what the difference is as my phone is still an open market version! Frustrated is an understatement I thought I was getting a unlocked phone!!! Think I'll be sticking to a Google phone in the future, at least you know where you stand!

P9 EVA-L19605 nougat update help.........

Ok I have a P9 EVA-L19C605 that's currently on MM B135. No matter what I do I cant seem to upgrade to nougat and what makes it more frustrating is that when I check the firmware finder application, I'm seeing nougat updates. Heck, i'm now even seeing B380. Whenever I try to use the firmware finder to send the update to the system updater, the update is a mere 1.4 gb or there about. I seems as if I'm not getting the region package in the update(and yes I chose download full package).
When the update completely downloads, it gets an error at verifying and then reboots( this also happens with the huawei updater/hisuite method). I really would appreciate any help, from anywhere or from anyone with the same phone model. Another thing i'd like to note, it seems that EVA-L19C605 is the Latin American model.

Rebranding P10 with EMUI 8?

So, to get EMUI 8 I had to rebrand my device to L29C636, and it worked fine until B361 , the last two updates (364 and 365) it refuses to update, if I search with FF it tells me the firmware is not valid for C636, but if I try and check the same firmware with C432 (I believe it was 432, my memory is not great as it used to be) it says everything is cool and I can install it, but for that I need my device to be rebranded again.
I was searching for few hours today, and couldn't find anything useful the last version of HWOTA is a year old and does not support EMUI 8, I did managed to get up to date twrp but HWOTA I have doesn't detects its booted to twrp. Multi-Tool 8 does not support P10 L29.
Security is a great deal for me and a lot of the recent fixes apply for me and it's really getting frustrating that every single important update I need to break my head to install it.
Does anyone have up to date guide for this device? I think my next step will be to check how it handle a meeting with the wall at high velocity...really getting annoyed with this Android sh*t.

Maybe you should roll back to Nougat, rebrand and then update to Oreo...

the method posted doesn't work, it can't flash twrp and the process ends there.

Nor receiving updates anymore

I have been using firmware finder to update my PRA-LX1. Now as I can see I don't receive any official updares. I'm stuck at security patch June. Even though July update is available when I check for updates in System Update it sais 'No updates'.
Any solutions?

I guess you are on Oreo.
Go to the firmware finder and find the list of firmwares and which correspond to the July security update, and check if it is approved for installation,if it is then go ahead and press update through VPN and follow the instructions.
Choose OTA not FullOTA if you are on Oreo, since it also took me a while to get the update.

so you're saying that firmware finder works on oreo if I choose the OTA firmware?
the problem is that firmware finder doent seem to work on oreo. Even though the update is approved, with vpn started the System Update app says 'No updates'.

I have tried different types of the Dload method but no one ses to work. I tried something from the WAS-LX1 SD CARD UPDATE GUIDELINE but using an update for this phone. Well, even if that update is available for update, with the dload method it says that 'The update package is not compatible with the current version. Please download the right package and try again." And I have tried that with about 10 other updates witch were available in firmware finder.. but I got the same results.
It seems that no method of updating is working for me right now... Or maybe I am doing the dload method wrongly.
I can't find specific stept for the dload method on the forums. On some of them is even said that dload method doesn't work on this phone all together.

Hmm,well as a last resort try to use dload with a service firmware.
I am sending you links for PRA-L31,the one I have, and you can check if you have that one by going into the engineering menu, and you do that by going into the dialer and typing this: *#*#2846579#*#*,and then going to Veneer Informations and Version Info.
http://androidhost.ru/6uc - this is for the July security patch firmware (aka the newest one),but it will take 8 hours to download,at least it took that time for me
https://mega.nz/#F!nwhAWDjC!cNovAN6dKLlO_YZ9fjMbzQ - this is for the firmware you are probably running right now
All of these links are from 4PDA forums.
https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=809771&view=findpost&p=65929494 - here you can find instructions on how to do it,if you don't understand them basically you need to firstly apply the UPDATE.APP from the first update_sd.zip you find in the dload folder, and then do the vendor UPDATE.APP which you can find in the PRA-L31 folder.
I am sorry if you cannot completely understand what am I saying,I am typing this in a bit of a rush so...

THANK YOU SO MUCH! This actually helped me restore my phone to normal. I installed the B363 version from the MEGA link ( I had B360 installed. my mistake was that I initially installed the wrong version with firmware finder, B360 instead of B363). But once I installed the B360 I got a notification to update to B369.
Thank you for your help!

Thank you for this simple and useful guide. :good:
I was able to successfully update back to stock using Normal upgrade *#*#2846579#*#* dload method (not force with 3 buttons) and service firmware 8.0.0.363(C432). After that, got OTA for 8.0.0.369.. Everything went fine, except device name changed automatically to P9 lite 2017
Is this okay?? The same happens with service firmware you mentioned 8.0.0.369(C432)...
Beside that, Power+Vol+ gives me no more eRecovery, just EMUI with options to wipe data or reboot..
My device: P8 lite 2017 PRA-LX1 (PRA-L31)

Yeah that is good, since this is a firmware which was released around Croatia,Albania,Czech Republic and etc,but there it is called P9 Lite 2017 instead of P8 Lite 2017 so it is no problem.
And I believe you enter eRecovery by holding Volume Up while plugging in your phone to a charger or USB port on a computer,at least that is how I did it before on Nougat, haven't touched any recoveries I fixed my phone with DC Phoenix.
