I can't find anything doing the search. Is the rooting the s8 (TMO) battery still stuck at 80pct after root or has a workout been found?

BUMP on this please. I was just searching for this answer! It's the only reason I haven't rooted this device or even updated past the version I'm on now. By the way, the battery life on this phone is quite good so far, easily get a full day so I wouldn't want to ruin this by rooting.

In my own research, I believe that this is still an issue. People have reported that the only way to charge to 100pct is to.put it on download mode, but that's a real pita

In my own experience, the battery stuck 80 PCT is still constant. I have the s8 now, and I don't really like it, even with root and rom'd

Hi everyone! Yet again another issue and problem with battery life. Mine I think is bit extreme. I consider myself pretty capable at using adb, flashing roms and kernels.
I have this terrible battery life problem though. (Although it might be normal I'm not sure.) I've tried calibrating it using the battery app as well. My phone only gets about half a day's worth of battery and dies at about 47%.
Just shuts off. When I plug it back in I get 0%. I've dug through the wake-locks and other things but still no avail. Is cyanogen really this bad on this device? I've had the phone for over a year and a half
and have been running cyanogen for about 4 months. I've switched back to my GSIII because it's so bad. Any ideas? Maybe its a radio and kernel problem? I'm not sure.
Thanks if you can help! The relevant info is at the bottom!
Here are the battery screenshots and buildinfo, if you need anything else let me know!

use a RUU and go back to stock and see if it improves
Wanted to avoid it haha. But it does seem like the most logical step. I'll give it a shot! Just wanted to see if anyone had anything similar! Thanks!
Just wanted to inform people that there is a new minor update available. It didn't pop up on its own. I found it this morning by manually checking for one. Haven't tested improvement yet.
Awesome, just updated

Not sure what else it changes but it brings the phone up to December security patch level!

Wtf.. How are you possibly gauging that your battery life is better? Patch just came out!! You need to cycle your battery a couple times before getting an accurate reading.

Yes, this update is better than last update. Good work, Samsung

Because my battery would drain rapidly visible to the eye just by using it. I've had my phone in my hand a lot today and the battery by a 1% basis is just not going down the way it normally does.

Anyway, I have been using DOJC now for three days. Have not noticed any improvement or decrease in battery. Same screen on time and such. Still lasts me the whole day.
Not sure if anyone else was affected, but this update bricked my modem. Bluetooth audio crashes the phone and the cellular radio will no longer connect to towers. I'm stuck on WiFi until my warranty replacement arrives.

I'm not totally sure if this will fix your issue, but try using kies or smartswitch to download stock firmware and wipe it and reinstall stock.

Thanks for the suggestion! I didn't get much grief on the warranty replacement, so I'll wait for that to arrive.
I've been running stock with package disabler on this for a long time (upgraded with everything re-enabled). Wanted to try a t-mobile version of xlite but it looks like the dev dropped support for that build in favor of the international one.
Haven't tried a factory reset yet since I've got a bunch of tokens I need to keep until I can move them and don't want to risk losing more functionality with a reset or image. [emoji28]

For what it's worth, I've been able to move tokens over by rooting and using titanium backup with great success. Just a recommendation if the warranty doesn't show up for a long while.
Hello,
I have a problem with my battery percentage since the MAJ 6.0.1.
My 6 nexus is rooted, so I flashed manually system.img and new radio from the Factory Image.
After restart phone, My Nexus indicates 3000/4000% battery.
In recovery I have the right battery.
Do you know how to solve the problem?
Phone discharged thoroughly but still the same problem.
Sorry, I can not put outside link to image.
It hasn't happened to anyone ever. Ever. So searching the forums for "battery percent" will not give any results, I assure you.
i guess you dont first search for your issues solution? well, the same question gets posted on xda daily, id suggest you search. anyways, its a bug. ignore it, it will probably get fixed next update.
I cannot ignore it because I never know level of my battery
My Nexus turns off without warning me : finally, discharged battery !
Thanks

Hoo, thank you for your answer !
This problem is with "boot.img" image modified for the root.
I flashed the new version... but now My nexus 6 is not rooted
I'm a tad bit apprehensive with rooting my z3+ with the issue of losing the drm keys as such and being a nervous wreck of messing it all up. But seeing the dismal battery life and somehow warm occasional back of the phone is really convincing me to do it. I previously used a g2 before which i fiddled with a lot before.
read here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z4/general/guide-safe-bootloader-unlock-restore-t3386915
then you can decide what to do, and don't forget to thank him

Personally? I was hesitant like you are for months! But I got tired of the poor battery and very bad sot I had to charge my phone upto 3 times sometimes always carrying a charger and a power bank... Finally I rooted and I'm happy I did! With heavy gaming I get at least 2 hours and a half SoT now... If I know I'm going to stay out of i dont game and I get at least 3 hours ++ SoT... And i've only been rooted for like 3 days... I'm using nagasaki rom with zach's kernel and xposed with some battery saving tweaks... But rooting this device isn't easy so if you're familiar with unlocking bootloader and such things my advice is to ahead it's totally worth losing warranty plus you can now restore your drm keys of you wanna do something like sell the phone or send it in for repair. If you decide to root I'll give some tips on how to save battery cause it's all over the place on XDA many confusions. Good luck

@angvil It sounds really reassuring to know that it is worth it for your experience and happy with it. I'll carefully read and tread on the guide linked by @Bagne, thank you as well for the link ^_^. Oh yeah I was wondering what was the deal with something about a series of scripts called skynet it was posted in the forums not a long while ago. Is it compatible with z3+ and is it viable to consider?

They moved to Google and you need to be invited or accepted to try them out, I requested to join their community and might just might give it a go. But I'm happy with what I'm using now and the difference I've experienced between stock and rooted.
Once you decide to root tell me I'll provide some links and mods that I'm using grabbed a couple of scripts as well from XDA.

I am using latest zach's kernal + Nagasaki rom tweaked the Big cores are underclocked to 1.6 Ghz and little cores to 1.5 Ghz. Also I use Greenify + Amplify. Also using tweaks from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/themes-apps/mod-z5-endurance-tweaks-v1-tweaks-t3321841
Install Heimdall governor, at least that's what I'm using.
Hey guys,
Just had this wicked battery drain start in the last few days. Not sure what has triggered it - but it seems to be the "Android System" process doing it I believe.
My phone used to last easily two-three days on one charge, now it's lasting 1 day with minimal screen on time.
I've done all the usual fault finding stuff like turning off bluetooth, GPS, got rid of some possible suspect apps etc but no dice so far. Didn't find much via searching and googling - is very hit 'n miss.
Any advice? I'm currently backing up my phone getting ready to factory reset it. It hasn't been wiped/reset since I got it when we were still on 7.1.1.
Only advice, factory reset, a good price after a major software update !
And in my opinion it's pointless to start new threads about battery drain, there are already 2 million out there. Probably everything has been said there, you can't get any new advices.

same happened to me, please do this before the factory reset.
1. Settings/apps/three upper right dots/clear preferences
2. reboot
after that all your apps will delete all permissions and you battery will back to normal, you wont lose any data.
One thing, my launcher was the main battery drain app, I used Evie Launcher, after deleted all back to normal. Hope it helps.
