I have a T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5. When I plug in the phone for charging at night, the screen continuously comes on with a vibration, and I get a message momentarily that says my battery is low (I already know my battery is low, that is why I plugged it in). Having the screen continuously come on, really drains the phone more.
Are there any settings that can disable the charging ping that turns on my screen every few seconds?
Like many I assume, I have my watch on charge on my bed side table, and use the alarm clock function to wake me in the morning.
What is slightly annoying is that when it is on charge, the watch face turns itself off after a few seconds, and you have to touch the screen to wake up the display to see the time if you wake up in the night.
Now by accident, after reading this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/watch-sport/help/lg-watch-sport-adb-t3554776
I have turned on developer options, and I now have the option while under developer options, to 'stay awake when charging'.
Now when the watch is charging, the screen rotates as usual, shows the time with charge status as before, but now, the display does not time out but remains on! The perfect bedside clock while on charge!
:good:
However, is there any downsides to having the display on all night with the potential to damage the display?
Since installing the July security patch my Note 8 now just says 'Android system fast charging'. It used to give the approximate time left until fully charged. Can anyone confirm that they have the same issue?
Mine still shows the time left. HOWEVER, the same case happens to me even with the previous updates. This happens to me whenever my phone heats a little bit too much while charging and the percentage doesn't actually go up. What I do to fix this is unplugged and let it cool for about a minute or so then plug back in. It should show the time remaining and continue charging as normal.
Note that my phone only 'overheats' when I'm charging it with a powerbank (with QC 3.0) inside my bag or anywhere confined.
What's the trick to allow the Note 9 apps to function while it's wirelessly charging? Currently, the phone won't even charge when wirelessly docked unless I lock the screen or enable Daydream.
Is there a hack that can fix this arbitrary limitation?
There's no hack. The Note 9 functions just fine while wirelessly charging. You have a bug.
Thanks for the quick reply. So, you can have an app like YouTube running on the foreground full screen while your phone is fast wireless charging?
Mine DOES show that it's charging in the notification bar, but the red led on the phone doesn't turn on unless the phone screen is locked. So, it looks like it's charging, but it doesn't actually charge the battery. When doing searches on this issue, I just see others asking the same question without a solution.. even for other Android phones.

Mine charges just fine while using it. I often put it on the wireless charger and watch Netflix. Of course using it will slow the charge rate, but it should at least keep up with the use.
Does your red led for charging stay on for wireless charging while watching Netflix, etc? Mine turns off unless the screen is off.

No that light only stays on while the screen is off.
Your get the same thing when using wall charger, indicator only turns on when screen is off since it's a notification LED. It isn't meant for it to stay on while screen is on since you can see battery icon showing its charging.
From what I've experienced, the phone will charge wirelessly, with screen on (about 800mAh) and wirelessly fast charge (I cannot get a mAh measurement, because the screen has to be off to get the "fast charging" toast message seen on the lock screen) with the screen off.
This seems like an odd limitation to purposely install, but there it is.
Verizon finally pushed me the PIE update today. I'm not thrilled, but am making due. When the phone is plugged in and charging, there is no charging indicator at all unless you swipe down and the charging light only comes on if the screen is off.
Has anyone found a way to get the battery icon back that visually shows when it's charging on the status bar/tray?
