OP3T new display - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I managed to drop my phone this weekend and now the glass is smashed pretty badly. Can someone recommend me seller from ebay or site where i can buy legit/real display assembly, not those 3rd party knockoffs.
I am using A3003 if that makes a difference

Most of the displays available online will most certainly be from third party manufacturers. I'd suggest you take your phone to an Authorized OnePlus service center.

I actually contacted their live support and it costs 95€ including shipping both directions. Not bad when considering ebay prices and that you don't know what u get + they change it [not saying that is hard but still]

95€ Doesn't sound too bad but you could still cut the Shipping costs if you can visit a service center yourself. You can download a list of Authorized OP SCs from OnePlus's official website

Yeah but AFAIK they don't have any in Finland, and authorized seller where i bought it their repair price quote was 233€. I'd say its pretty nice drop

Ah, yeah, they dont have any in Finland. But boy, 233€, ha! add a few more and you could buy a new device entirely Funny how some SC Quotes work.
I guess sending in your phone to OP is your best bet. But seriously, never settle down (pun intended) for one from ebay or some other place. Theres no telling what you might end up with.

He probably kept realizing that be are willing to pay more. His score is 9000 and he is a US seller (not hong kong) so I am pretty sure it's a safe buy.
Don't be naive. Wanna bet this person sits in Hong Kong... as the items he's selling??? Look where the Item Location is: HONG KONG!!!

That is just stupid to say. First of all ebay is the best thing since the supermarket. If you can't find it in a store near you it can most of the times be found on ebay.
Secondly many sellers from Hong Kong is far more trustworthy than sellers in germany, UK or USA. I know, I have bought from them all.

Does anyone know which is the installation procedure of this plate? Any guide or something like that?
They now have full OEM housing @ cnn for a whopping $79usd. Damn, it is so expensive. I had bought housing there in the past for W950i and the quality was decent. Not really sure if this housing will fix the crack issues. Can anyone confirm?

[Q] Gumtree Scammers [UK]

So I tend to list my old phones on Gumtree, due to eBay's crazy fees. With eBay and Paypal, you sell a phone for £400 and give them £40 of it! Kinda crazy really.
Anyway, everytime I list an item on Gumtree (even through I state I wont ship internationally) I get e-mails people telling me they will pay me X+£100 via Paypal.
Of course I always either ignore or reply telling them I wont ship outside of the UK at which point they don't reply.
What I'm curious about is, how do they work the scam? Paypal is generally quite safe isn't it? Do they claim after two week's they haven't received the item? Does the money just never get to Paypal and they try and talk you in to sending it before it's there?
I'm half tempted to ask one of them to pay the money, me with no intention of sending the phone anywhere, just to see what happens...
http://reviews.ebay.com/PAYPAL-BUYER-SCAM-EXTREMELY-IMPORTANT-INFORMATION_W0QQugidZ10000000000114286
Basically unless you have proof that you have sent, and that they have signed for an item, PayPal will refund the money.
a specific example
So from the example, even if you have proof that the package was delivered, Paypal are likely to give the money back?
I wonder what happens if I ask the scammers to transfer direct into my bank account?
That's made me a little nervous now. I've just sold my DHD on eBay, the guy has paid with Paypal right away.
What are the safest steps for me next? I simply post it via recorded delivery and submit the tracking number to eBay somewhere?

and on paypal too
Thinking about it, I should probably do it special delivery, because that is insured. So if he claims its damaged or something, I can go back to Royal Mail?
Now... the other thing, the guy is only 7 miles away, I'd prefer to drop it over to him. If I get him to sign a 'receipt' do you think Paypal would accept it? I guess I'm actually safer posting it now, he's paid for postage, so he could claim I made it up, where's my postage info...

I replied to a spam scam once, I gave him the crime stoppers number as my mobile number. Idiot didn't notice what is was, just asked for my personal number. At that point I ignored.

So long as you keep the receipt for postage, and make a note of the time and date, where you posted it etc, the Post Office will refund up to £30 (I think that's the amount anyway) for missing items, after they have investigated. Anything more expensive, and I would suggest you send it with insurance anyway.
Are you guys serious??????
just search "gumtree scams paypal moneysavingexpert" on google (sorry can't post links)
That's why I stopped using gumtree overall. It is nothing but a scam den! Now I use other safer sites like movethat.com or bonsoni.com
Not if you're careful. I've not been scammed once using Gumtree and I've made more money from each sale as I'm not giving eBay and Paypal 12% of my sale. You could say that in itself is the biggest scam...
I do still use eBay, cause we don't really have any other auction alternatives do we?
Yes if you are smart then you should be ok (although my smart cousin lost his deposit money for a flat) . But the problem is Internet is available to everyone, even to the granny who never used a comp before.
usually these kind of naive people are becoming a victim. Just search gumtree fraud or gumtree scam on google news search thousands on result come up! Apparently police stopped taking this crime reports as they are too many of them.
You are not giving that 12% to ebay and paypal but do remember that actually you are doing them a favour by using gumtree, which is own by ebay and paypal.
That's what happened when capitalism reach at its pick and consumers don't have much choice.
Once again I prefer to use other smaller and safer sites then any of the above named site.

I don't think it's a viable alternative though. For example, there's 1 Nexus S for sale on eBid. If I'm looking for a phone, why would I go to eBid. If I'm selling, why would I start an auction on eBid, next to no-one see's it and my item sells at a crazy low price

One reason to use smaller websites like ebid is because less people will bid, so you may pick up a bargain.

spare parts for HTC One M8

Hi guys! Couple of days ago I had a very bad day. Recently I received my order containing M8 (delivery from USA to Russia) and for less than 1 week I managed to damage this device. It just fell down out of my chest pocket when I stooped to feed a cat living in the factory shop where I work. It bumped against concrete with left top corner. It was not in case unfortunately cause the case is still in delivery. As result I have now cracked screen. But! As far as I understand only superficial layer is cracked - Gorilla Glas. The screen itself seems to be ok. The device is fully functioning. Hence it`s only visual shortcoming. Nevetherless it is very unpleasant. I inquired in the nearest oficial service center about the possibility to repair it, but they even don`t have spare parts, which are expected only in June. And the price for screen replacement will make about 10000 Rubles - it`s about 280 dollars - too much only for screen replacement for me. I haven`t found spare parts on ebay as well. Could you maybe help me some way...
Does anybody happen to know, if and where I can buy spare screen for M8 now? How do you think will it appear later on ebay?
Or is it possible to insert a screen with same dimensions but from another smartphone?
And the last one question, how do you think, would it be possible to separate by myself superficial gorilla glas layer from the main screen without damaging it?
Thanks a lot guys and have a nice day. And I hope my English is understandable for you.
I don't know how they enforce the HTC Advantage Program in Russia, but HTC offers a free screen replacement if it happens within the first 6 months. Have you checked on that?

I never heard about this Advantage programm to be honest. But in the official service center they indicated price about 280 dollars. I guess it means that the programm is not available in Russia. However I bought it in USA. Now I`m going to get in touch with the seller from ebay, where I bought it. Maybe he would help me...

Yes but the seller from Ebay must have bought from an authorised dealer - surely they can get it repaired for you for a small fee?

I know that is probably a stretch, but I would have to agree. If the seller is willing and able, you could probably ship to them. Have them get it fixed and then give them a fee for having the free replacement done for you. However, you would have to trust them enough to do this for you. Also, the cost of shipping back and forth and the fee of the seller would have to be less than the $220 or it may not be worth it. Good luck and sorry this happened.

try to check on ebay. At least screen replacement is already available.
Send it to HTC repair center, it will be cheaper than you think. I had my screen including lcd assembly, back cover and speaker grills repaired for £103 or $170..
Have you tried sparesworldmobile.com, they are europe based and ship to russia for what i saw. I think they also have tech support if you ask then for the costs perhaps it fits your needs.

DO NOT BUY OnePlus 3 ONLINE !

Take this as a warning & advice from someone who bought this phone and had to deal with OnePlus support & repair centre
On the XDA forum everything seems ok but if you go to the official OP3 ...people have a problem with this phone https://forums.oneplus.net/forums/OnePlus3
You can protect yourself from fraud only if you buy this phone from a store in your country which has to comply with strict terms for repair & service, if you buy it from their website (https://oneplus.net/uk/oneplus-3)- you basically buy the phone from a store in China and you will not have any buyer rights if you are in Europe or USA etc You pay with paypal and you are protected for 30 days but after that you will have nobody to complain to!
OnePlus has the worst support you can imagine, they seem friendly but they will deceit you - that is my experience ~ and i can prove it !
You might think: hey i`m gonna take good care of it and nothing can go wrong! That is what i said until an official update destroyed my phone
If you send your phone for repair you do not get any information unless you dig it yourself! Here in Europe the phone is 'repaired' by Arvato who are also scammers, most of the time they do not have the components for repairs so they take motherboards or other pieces from a phone which came with a problem and put it in another phone with a different problem! https://portal.teleservice.com/tassweb2search/simpleSearch/search-cz.seam Not to mention that it will take 1 month for them to 'repair' your phone ! This is because they are not bound by EU laws since you did not buy the phone in Europe ! So please consider these things before buying your OnePlsu3 phone from this company
Meeh
ooeehhhh, just bought it online 2 hours ago........let's see, can't change it now anymore.....
Learn from other people experience, if you buy smth from China and you are in France...where do you complain if you have a problem?

Thats wrong. If you buy from the official website and they offer support for your country (means they send their devices to your country) then they need to give you the buyer rights that are active in your country (2 years in the EU)
I bought mine from the official website and they send me my device (same like the oneplus one) to germany and I never had any problems with the device or the support.

your logic is MIA and you sound like one of those OnePlus support people...
how can you have a problem with support when you say you never had any problem with the device?
Admittedly not much use to anyone outside the UK, but...
I've just picked my UK version of the OnePlus 3 (A3003) at an 02 shop this morning as a 'click & collect', now they available to buy there. But used the online site to pay for it, as there's the 14 day 'cooling off' clause built into the online purchase. As I bought it with a retailer, the warranty for the phone is with 02 now, so any repairs/replacements are their problem.

you are fine! You bought your phone from a store located in UK which gives you the protection of british & eu law
my warning applies to those who buy from the OnePlus online store which is located in China and for which European law does not apply
if someone would buy this phone online, from this website: https://oneplus.net/uk/oneplus-3 than they will not benefit from the same protection since that store is in China and it is only bound by chinese laws. For this situation NO authority in Europe can help you
The EU/US warranty is available, just check their website:
- US warranty policy
- EU warranty policy (Belgium, in french)
It's written US buyers have 1 year warranty and the EU buyers have 2 years warranty, starting from the delivery day.
One could reply saying that you sound like someone working for a retailer wanting people buy phones locally instead of from the online store. But lets move over, how could an official update destroy your phone? What happened?

maybe you're running you mouth. gtfo troll. that site is a joke, just like you.
go find something else to do if you have nothing useful to add to MY topic
You can be as emotional as you like about how horrible OnePlus is but you can only speak from your own experience. So let me tell you my own experience. I have a OnePlus 2 and 3. I had my 2 repaired last week because the home button stopped working. I asked for service through their website and I got a shipping label to ship it to a US address. My device also also had a cracked LCD which I figured they probably wouldn't replace. The turn around time from me shipping the device to getting it back was 5 days. Instead of fixing the device, I received a new phone. So as you can see, your evidence is anecdotal and definitely does not represent everyone else's experience.
Or do buy online but use a credit card which has good customer service and extended warranty support, such that if the manufacturer denies your claim you make a claim to your credit card company for repair or replacement cost.

A website is a proof you can use to apply your rights, when it comes from the official brand website. Just wake up please.
They don't need to send you a piece of sheet to give you a warranty. The package contains what you bought and a paper attesting you bought it online, the price, etc.
You DON'T need anything else than a proof of purchase to make the warranty work, as your rights are written in black on white on their website. And even if their website claimed something else, if they sell a product to a country, they MUST respect the rules.
Please, stop acting like an idiot claiming something nobody has as it's just useless.
Also note that while the phone itself may be manufactured in China (same as the iPhone by Apple and Nexus 6P and tons of other great phones) it often does not ship from China (for USA purchases it ships from USA warehouses)

Think what you want, but come in Belgium and you will cry when you won't get your precious paper.
There is at least 8 years shops never give a warranty paper. Every shop tells you NEED to keep the ticket as a proof of purchase and use it for the warranty.
Nobody complains about this system, only one paper instead of two and you just go to the store with your ticket to make the warranty works. Welcome to the new reality.
I say this, but think what you want, I don't care. Just don't make you seem like a fool when you're the one who's wrong.

Yeah, couldn't find it on aliexpress.
Giztop.com has it listed
You will need to wait 3 weeks or 1 month or even more. The stock is limited they are currently locally selling the phones in batches every 4-7days and every time it's sold out.
Is Giztop even legit? I feel the list thing as in stock but ship it 1 month later. Also it's at an inflated cost right now being $100 more, I would wait a month

Hi,
I received it at my door 4 days after them getting the first stock (they use DHL Express). Usually full processing, shipping and getting through customs takes max 5 days.
I did of course get to pay customs tax, around 28 EUR (+-30 USD), I live in Barcelona.
It arrived in perfect condition and included a simple charging adapter.

Also i was reading the comments on the phone on JD and soo many complaints about defects in screens. it seems they are suffering from quality check ?
which makes me worried as Asus won't support tencent out of China...
And I tried to create an account and it requests to use phone number. I added my phone number but not receiving sms with the code. I guess they have the international code to my country wrong.
