DO NOT BUY OnePlus 3 ONLINE ! - OnePlus 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Take this as a warning & advice from someone who bought this phone and had to deal with OnePlus support & repair centre
On the XDA forum everything seems ok but if you go to the official OP3 ...people have a problem with this phone https://forums.oneplus.net/forums/OnePlus3
You can protect yourself from fraud only if you buy this phone from a store in your country which has to comply with strict terms for repair & service, if you buy it from their website (https://oneplus.net/uk/oneplus-3)- you basically buy the phone from a store in China and you will not have any buyer rights if you are in Europe or USA etc You pay with paypal and you are protected for 30 days but after that you will have nobody to complain to!
OnePlus has the worst support you can imagine, they seem friendly but they will deceit you - that is my experience ~ and i can prove it !
You might think: hey i`m gonna take good care of it and nothing can go wrong! That is what i said until an official update destroyed my phone
If you send your phone for repair you do not get any information unless you dig it yourself! Here in Europe the phone is 'repaired' by Arvato who are also scammers, most of the time they do not have the components for repairs so they take motherboards or other pieces from a phone which came with a problem and put it in another phone with a different problem! https://portal.teleservice.com/tassweb2search/simpleSearch/search-cz.seam Not to mention that it will take 1 month for them to 'repair' your phone ! This is because they are not bound by EU laws since you did not buy the phone in Europe ! So please consider these things before buying your OnePlsu3 phone from this company

Meeh

ooeehhhh, just bought it online 2 hours ago........let's see, can't change it now anymore.....

Learn from other people experience, if you buy smth from China and you are in France...where do you complain if you have a problem?

I am From Germany and Bought it From German Site
Gesendet von meinem ONEPLUS A3003

Thats wrong. If you buy from the official website and they offer support for your country (means they send their devices to your country) then they need to give you the buyer rights that are active in your country (2 years in the EU)
I bought mine from the official website and they send me my device (same like the oneplus one) to germany and I never had any problems with the device or the support.

what matters is not where the site is hosted or registered but where is the store located ! Which store is that?
you can buy on Amazon.DE from people & stores located in...other country and all Amazon can do is to block them selling on amazon.de

FALSE ! If you buy from their official website it means you are buying a product from an online store located in China which is bound to Chinese laws, not EU laws! And this reminds me that i have not received any warranty papers from OnePlus or even an invoice !!!

your logic is MIA and you sound like one of those OnePlus support people...
how can you have a problem with support when you say you never had any problem with the device?

Admittedly not much use to anyone outside the UK, but...
I've just picked my UK version of the OnePlus 3 (A3003) at an 02 shop this morning as a 'click & collect', now they available to buy there. But used the online site to pay for it, as there's the 14 day 'cooling off' clause built into the online purchase. As I bought it with a retailer, the warranty for the phone is with 02 now, so any repairs/replacements are their problem.

you are fine! You bought your phone from a store located in UK which gives you the protection of british & eu law
my warning applies to those who buy from the OnePlus online store which is located in China and for which European law does not apply
if someone would buy this phone online, from this website: https://oneplus.net/uk/oneplus-3 than they will not benefit from the same protection since that store is in China and it is only bound by chinese laws. For this situation NO authority in Europe can help you

The EU/US warranty is available, just check their website:
- US warranty policy
- EU warranty policy (Belgium, in french)
It's written US buyers have 1 year warranty and the EU buyers have 2 years warranty, starting from the delivery day.

One could reply saying that you sound like someone working for a retailer wanting people buy phones locally instead of from the online store. But lets move over, how could an official update destroy your phone? What happened?

maybe you're running you mouth. gtfo troll. that site is a joke, just like you.
go find something else to do if you have nothing useful to add to MY topic

You can be as emotional as you like about how horrible OnePlus is but you can only speak from your own experience. So let me tell you my own experience. I have a OnePlus 2 and 3. I had my 2 repaired last week because the home button stopped working. I asked for service through their website and I got a shipping label to ship it to a US address. My device also also had a cracked LCD which I figured they probably wouldn't replace. The turn around time from me shipping the device to getting it back was 5 days. Instead of fixing the device, I received a new phone. So as you can see, your evidence is anecdotal and definitely does not represent everyone else's experience.

Or do buy online but use a credit card which has good customer service and extended warranty support, such that if the manufacturer denies your claim you make a claim to your credit card company for repair or replacement cost.

A website is a proof you can use to apply your rights, when it comes from the official brand website. Just wake up please.
They don't need to send you a piece of sheet to give you a warranty. The package contains what you bought and a paper attesting you bought it online, the price, etc.
You DON'T need anything else than a proof of purchase to make the warranty work, as your rights are written in black on white on their website. And even if their website claimed something else, if they sell a product to a country, they MUST respect the rules.
Please, stop acting like an idiot claiming something nobody has as it's just useless.

Also note that while the phone itself may be manufactured in China (same as the iPhone by Apple and Nexus 6P and tons of other great phones) it often does not ship from China (for USA purchases it ships from USA warehouses)

For every electronic you buy you gotta have a separate WARRANTY official paper which OnePlus does NOT provide!

Think what you want, but come in Belgium and you will cry when you won't get your precious paper.
There is at least 8 years shops never give a warranty paper. Every shop tells you NEED to keep the ticket as a proof of purchase and use it for the warranty.
Nobody complains about this system, only one paper instead of two and you just go to the store with your ticket to make the warranty works. Welcome to the new reality.
I say this, but think what you want, I don't care. Just don't make you seem like a fool when you're the one who's wrong.

Handtec warranty on Galaxy Note for US buyers?

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a Note from Handtec, but was wondering if anyone knew how warranty service is handled for foreign buyers? I'm in the US and would hate to have to send my phone in and wait for weeks if I were to need warranty service, but I'd hate it much more if I had no warranty at all. Anyone know?
Insure your phone through a 3rd party mobile insurance provider or your homeowners insurance.
Do you have any recommendations for third party warranty or insurance for these types of phones?
I hear a lot of good things about SquareTrade.
Does anyone have info on warranties? What's Samsung's position on a manufacturer's warranty? I appreciate the 3rd party insurer suggestion, but it seems like a warranty would be best for issues such as manufacturing defects. Does Squaretrade or renter's insurance even cover such phone issues? I thought they were only for loss or accident.
I was looking into 3rd Party Insurers and found one (www.toughcell.com) that covers both theft/loss and device defects but the actual site and relatively low pricing made it seem somewhat questionable so I don't know if I should give it a try...
ATT support only in the states?
I put it on my American Express. If anything goes wrong, they'll cover me.
I would've figured credit card protection would only work so long, like 30 days or something. What if the display goes out 6 months down the line? I'm surprised nobody's been able to say what Samsung's warranty policy is on this for foreign countries.
Why do you need 3rd party insurance? The phone comes with 2 years manufacturer warranty.

Manufacturer Warranty isn't valid on Import Phone's [Like the EU/UK Note] in the USA.
cant you just then ship it back? I have family in poland so i can just ship it to them and have them send it in for warranty if that ever proves to be the case
I have had square trade warranty in the past and they are awesome.
However no luck for us now for items purchased outside USA
Here is the mail that I got from them
Thank you for contacting SquareTrade.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to get our coverage as the insurance polices, we offer are only for the items purchased brand new within US and are only for US residents at the current point of time.
We might increase our coverage area in the near future but unfortunately, we are not doing so at the moment.
For customers who live outside the fifty United States, the SquareTrade Care Plan is only available on items purchased from our integrated resellers who allow for International purchases like Crutchfield.
Hope that answers your question! You can also reply to this email or call 1-877-WARRANTY (1-877-927-7268) US & Canada only, 24/7.
Thank you,
Fern

Will squaretrade cover an import bought from a retailer within the US? I'm sure they'll start popping up soon.

They will . They covered for my SGSII from expansys
I spoke with Handtec and expressed my concerns over the warranty on the Galaxy Note. They said:
In this case the device will come with 24 months warranty, it will need to come back to Handtec and then we will send this to Samsung on your behalf.
So I'm satisfied and will place my order! Of course this is for Handtec only; other retailers certainly have their own policies.
I got a 24 month insurance policy from ensquared - $99 for $1000 coverage at a $75 deductable. Peace of mind.

Nope, they don't cover this as it won't have a US warranty.
But good to know Handtec will send it to Samsung on your behalf. That's nice. You have to trust them, but the seem reputable.

it says US warranty (blue)
anyone know what that means?
also i dont know if you guys read but apparently there are some serious screen issues on these devices.

Be careful! Don’t buy your ZUK phone from Tomtop!

Hello everyone,
I purchased ZUK Z1 Smartphone from Tomtop ebay store (tomtop.usa). The description said that the smartphone has 2 years warranty.
After 4 months of use the fingerprint scanner of the phone stopped working. I contacted the manufacturer and he told me to contact the reseller.
So I contacted Tomtop. They apologized about that and told me to send it back to them and they will replace it with a new one or they will refund me.
I sent the smartphone to the address they gave me and they received it. Here is the tracking number: RE541532254GR
From that day I sent them 7 messages to inform me about the current status of the replacement / refund but they did not answer me. Then I contacted ebay support. They told me that they will try to contact them.
After that I received a message from Tomtop claiming they didn't receive the smartphone. I sent them the tracking number to prove that they have receive it but I never get a reply. It seems that they have blocked me.
When I try to buy anything from Toptom I received the following message: “The seller isn't accepting bids or offers from you.”
After that I did a google search tomtop.com scam and there was a lot of people complaining about them.
Now I understand that I have lost my phone and I am really sad about that. That is why I share my experience with you. I want to protect other people from facing the same situation. Please stay away from Tomtop. There are other stores to buy ZUK phones.
P.S. I told my story to some friends and they will try to help me. They bought some cheap items from ebay tomtop store to give them a negative feedback. They said that this is only way to press them to give my phone back.
Hello, have very similar experiences with Tomtop.usa:
So i bought a phone (Zuk Z1) from Seller 12 November 2015 from ebay. Got the phone and all was good, i got a 6 months warranty on the phone. But then the phone started crashing about 2 months ago. The seller sayed i had to ship the phone to Germany (i live in Finland).
I shipped the phone 10.3.16 and it arrived to the seller 23.3.16. Before they got my phone the seller said that i would get a new phone from them. Then they said they had shipped a new phone 24.3.16. But the seller did not give me the tracking number, i had to ask for it very many times before i got it. But when got it, the shipment was already in Finland but it was on the other side of Finland and i checked from the post office that the package was not for me. Then i contacted* the seller again and they said* they would ship another one.
Then weeks went by and the phone did not come. I have asked many times from the seller where my package is and about the package tracking number. And the seller also lied that the package is already in Finland (how can they know without the tracking number?). They said they did not have a tracking number and today they said that the post office has AGAIN lost the package. I think its bull**bleep** and i don't think the seller has even shipped my phone.
Now im waiting that paypal id prosessing my claim. Hope to get my money back.
same experience- very dangerous seller. It has put me off buying phone from abroad now.
I bought it from TomTop also, had some trouble ordering it (they insisted to send it from China even they have it in EU, where I am) and I knew if something breaks on the phone I wouldn't send it back because they're untrusty... I'll rather fix it in some shop in my country which does the job. Too much hassle and waiting with this type of resellers.

Yeah, that was the same address i shipped the phone to.
I did a paypal dispute and i hope i get my money back that way.
The hole scenario is quite strange, because Tomtop.usa has big websites and they are authorised seller for a bunch of phones.
I have an order in with Tomtop for a Xiaomi phone. They asked me for pictures of the front and back of my credit card. That seemed kind of fishy to me. Now that I've seen this thread, I think I'll just cancel the order.
bad experience with TOMTOP, AGAIN!!!
Hi all,
I ordered a flashlight, accidently thw wrong type and sent it back. Although delivery is confirmed by my postal office, TOMTOP refuses to admit it is delivered at the address they provided me with. Now I understand all the bad reviews and stories about TOMTOP on the web.
Don't buy anything here!!!:crying:

OP3T new display

I managed to drop my phone this weekend and now the glass is smashed pretty badly. Can someone recommend me seller from ebay or site where i can buy legit/real display assembly, not those 3rd party knockoffs.
I am using A3003 if that makes a difference
Most of the displays available online will most certainly be from third party manufacturers. I'd suggest you take your phone to an Authorized OnePlus service center.

Note 9 N9600 or N960FD etc for UK use

Hi everyone,
I'm due to upgrade my phone and really keen on the note 9 but to buy in the UK it is costly. I'm looking at buying from the EU but there's a variety of model types with subtle differences in bands.
Please would someone be able to advise me whether for example N9600 or N960FD would be fully compatible with the UK networks?
The N9600 appears to be fully compatible with UK bands but I'm new to buying non UK phones.
Plus if they're both compatible, would one be better than the other?
Thanks in advance

Have a look on www1.techinthebasket.com - I picked up my previous Note 8 SM-N950F/DS for £633 back in October last year. It was a Taiwan model (BRI) but picked up XEU / BTU CSC when I put my O2 SIM in it and it worked flawlessly. They have Note 9's in now for good prices as well. They only accept PayPal so you're covered. I also picked up a Surface Pro 4 from them a couple of years ago and saved over £200. Well worth a try.

Ah, looks like they've only got the Snapdragon version in at the moment - £880 for the SD 512GB/8GB and £629 to £679 dependant on colour for the SD 128GB/6GB is still pretty damn good. Keep checking though, they did have the Exynos versions in for around the same price a few days ago...
Really good prices.
The only thing that's holding me back is to wait for the pixel 3xl. If some of the rumours are true about the Iarge screen, then I might go pixel, but other say it's only 6.1" and has a notch which renders it even smaller when watching film properly.
Thanks for the input so far. Note 9 is in number one spot, just need to compare to the pixel to firm up the choice
The N9600 probably won't work with some UK Cell Providers. You are better off getting the N960FD as that is a GSM device.

After reading the listing it doesn’t state anything about It having a year warranty with them instead they’ll only replace if the device is faulty within the first 30 days.... risky?!! ? .... Just checked again it doesn’t come with any warranty.... ?

If the pixel 3xl is a bit underwhelming, I'd rather buy a note 9 with a warranty even if it costs more. Having had LG phone issues, I don't want the risk

The period of the warranty and the warranty service provided will be those of the country in Europe where the warranty claim is made.
Please note that this is a voluntary manufacturer’s warranty and provides rights in addition to, and does not affect statutory rights of end users. When you buy a non-European device, it is not covered under our European Warranty Policy. In that regard, when making a purchase please do check that the device is a European model.
Promotions extending or enhancing the terms of the limited manufacturer’s warranty are country specific and cannot be claimed in countries other than the promoting country.

Oh well haha, has anyone in the world ever actually needed a warranty? I certainly haven't ? It's like insurance, even if you try to claim on it, the odds of them paying out to you are so slim it's hardly worth bothering. It's also another price you pay for getting something significantly cheaper than in your own country, right now they're selling that phone over £200 cheaper than anywhere in this country, if you're so worried, take that 200 and buy insurance, or open a premium bank account for like £11 a month that offers you full mobile phone insurance like my girlfriend has, she can essentially just launch her phone at the wall and they'll pay out for a replacement ?

Believe it or not i had an issue with my S8 plus (Snapdragon 835 variant) a year ago (screen issue) used it for about 8 months, it took about a month to resolve but ended up getting a refund instead lol
I know what your saying, looks like I'll just go with WondaMobile instead of eBay, that way my mind will be at ease
Btw hows your battery life on your model? I'm still undecided whether to go with the SD 845 or Exynos 9810.. I had the S9 plus with the 9810 and the battery life wasn't great (3.5hr SOT) with 15-16hrs usage consistently, ended up selling it to my bro ?

Chinese shops and other scams. Do you know this particular scam?

Hello,
I honestly start to be tired with those Chinese shops. I don't think one stands out so far. Feel free to get me wrong with a certified address.
Here is what I want to talk about. Everything seeks legit, warranty is present, phone is allegedly new and presented as it, delivery seems OK abashed on Trust pilot...
I just bought a p30 pro. I contacted the company. Fast reply.
Going back-and-forth, I finally get her ti spit it out :
The phone is covered by the warranty of the shop, shipping included, but not by Huawei, whichever country you live in, including China.
So tell me : what kind of phone, unless stolen or refurbished can this phone be??
So far, to the question got the silence treatment: please kindly tell me how a phone can be new and not benefit from the Huawei's warranty in any country of the world??
Your technical opinion about it please? I mean, what kind of phone could it aside from what I quoted above?!
Can anyone explain the nature of this phone??
I bought it at T-dimensions, Germany branch. Warehouses seems to be in the UK. Phone comes China or Hong-Kong. No warranty anywhere in the world by Huawei (p30 pro 256, global version)
Seriously no one? ?
