(Q) Network "hesitation" issue - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

So I added this in another thread but I feel it might be a slightly different problem... A lot of my data transactions have this "hesitation" before the requested info loads. Instagram, Facebook, web pages, etc all continuously have the loading spinning circle and will sometimes even time out. I have to refresh to get it to load again, sometimes multiple times. I've tried using DNS switching using apps that make a VPN for that purpose but still have the issue. Any ideas? I am on QK3. Thanks!

browser not using cache?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why our browsers have to reload the page even though you are just going "back" one page. For example, if I visit Gizmodo, then go to engadget, then back to Gizmodo, my browser has to reload the page instead of using the cache. It seems as if the cache is barely used (granted the reload is a little quicker, but not much).
Is there a tweak or program that can make this better? It is really frustrating, especially if you are trying to browse a page and accidentally hit the wrong link, which requires you to fumble for stop and oft times requires a reload (this is one reason I miss the Hero browser, because it had a stop button in the address bar).
Hmm, I've noticed this as well. Perhaps Android thinks you need to refresh the page? I know with apps like Opera Mini, pages back (somewhere around 10) are completely stored which is a very nice feature, but as to why Android doesn't do this, is a mystery .
I know the larger files, like images and chunks of text, are saved to the cache, but not whole pages. That would get pretty big after a while, and would slow down the browser because of access times. It's the time the Browser takes to draw the page is what's creating the lag. Look at Opera Mini again, the page loads instantly because it's zoomed out first, then you zoom in.
try "steel" browser.
@ phuthanvinh: I have tried "Steel", but it really isn't any better.
@lukekirstein, yeah, that is one nice thing about Opera. It loads cached pages almost instantly in most instances. When I need quick information, I always turn to Opera. If I want to browse for pleasure, then I use the Android browser.
It would be awesome if a Developer could implement some type of Webkit add-on that forces cache of the whole page.
I just wonder if the "lag" is not caused by redownloading, but rather stems from Android using software-based graphics decoding instead of using the onboard graphics chip. At least that is what I have heard.
I have the same issue and it's very annoying when I'm using google reader!
Have you find a solution?
Does anyone have a solution to prevent android browser to reload pages already load in a tab after I come back from another tab?

Photo Uploads Don't Work

Photo Uploads Don't WorkWhenever I try to upload photos through the built in photo uploading app (it doesn't matter what service I try to upload to) the photo fails to upload, giving an "Upload error" notification. When the notification is clicked I get the following error: "Can't send response now. Data services are unavailable."
I've seen some people mention doing a full factory reset (on other Motorola DROID phones) and this possibly fixing the issue, but I would definitely like to avoid this at all costs.
Additionally, and this may or may not be related, my phone has trouble syncing with verious social networks at various times.
Stuff I've Tried Already
I have tried on both WiFi and 3g (both connections work fine for everything else)
I have updated my roaming with *228
I have tried a factory reset
Data Manager is not set to Wait for WiFi to upload
I have tried removing and re-adding the accounts
Nevermind. Removed all that stuff anyway.

OMg i hated that!!! mine does that from time to time!
I have noticed that happening from time to time with dropbox, and also a problem where it uploads t the main dropbox directory rather than my selected directory. I noticed that it appears to happen when the phone is running low on RAM.
Based on the behavior of the gallery app and dropbox app, I believe what is happening lies in how Android manages memory. There is a good article about this over at Android Central but essentially Android allows for different classifications of apps. As Android system runs out of RAM, it will start shutting down apps and running processes based on this priority system.
So, what I believe happens is that when you select a picture in the Gallery app, then switch over to your uploaded (or vice versa), the phone runs out of RAM and closes the original app. Once you select the upload location (or the desired pic in the vice versa scenario), that app will look for a handoff from the first app, however that first app was closed by the system due to low memory. I am basing this on conjecture, but I have observed dropbox or the gallery app appear to "reload" after I switch between the two.
The low RAM is my major gripe about the Droid 3. Moto's custom skin, along with all the VZ bloat, appears to somehow eat up a ton of RAM (perhaps there is bloatware that runs in the background" which would be OK if the Droid came with 768mb or 1gb of ram. I wish there was a way to add ram after the fact.
I've never experienced this but I never use the native uploading app in Motorla gallery either. I tend to steer clear of the account setup in android and download apps from the market instead so i can control the data transfer and how all my interactions with my albums go a little more specifically. All that to say i use photobucket and have never had this error using the photobucket app on the market.
This problem was not a memory management problem, and had something to do with motorolas servers. It seemed to be fixed last time I checked

[Q] Browser refresh when switching apps

When browsing the web if I press the home button or go into another app and immediately back into the browser all of the tabs want to refresh, even if there is only one tiny html file open. I have read about many people having this problem on different android devices but it never gets much attention. I am not clear what the issue is, can anyone give me a little bit more info?
I currently run an up to date Serendipity 7 on my Captivate and use Dolphin HD although this happens in the stock browser. Never tried any others. I have run many roms on this device and all of them have had this problem, although some more sporadically than others. With the latest Serendipity it happens like clockwork. I don't use a task killer, the browser doesn't close.
Sounds like a ram priority issue, cache not being written to disk or something. Is this general to the kernel? Is there a browser available that saves pages to disk until you've navigated away for a while? Why do most people not have this problem? Where should I post this so it gets the proper attention?
First post, longtime lurker, this issue is making me mad.

Browser Performance on Xoom

Hi,
I have been using the default browser, and also Chrome on my Xoom. Initially, they both seemed pretty fast, but after several days of using them, they both get pretty slow. I usually have multiple tabs open (3 or 4), and loading up a typical page takes quite a bit of time. For example, loading engadget takes about 25secs. Clearing the browser cache, and history helps a little bit - down to about 20secs.
Comapre that to my ipad, which loads up much faster.
But, either way scrolling up on down just a little fast brings white screen - while it takes time to refresh the content on the page.
What kind of performance are you seeing?
I am on a 12Mbps connection, so that shouldn't be an issue.
ive noticed this too. clearing the cache seems to help

Experiment with different browsers. I used dolphin hd for a long time, but it got a bit laggy after updates a couple months ago (haven't tried it in a while, might be better). Boat browser is currently my primary... just tried endgadget, and while it certainly isn't scientific, my results were less than 10 seconds in 3 tries, the fastest being 5-6. I also use maxthon and firefox periodically, and keep at least 1 "lite" browser loaded (boat mini at the moment) for use when in a low bandwidth cellular area.
im using chrome as default and have no issues whatsoever - pages load 5-6 seconds on wifi speeds upto 12mbs - only issue with chrome for me is no flash support yet
From what I understand there will not be any flash supports for chrome beta on android.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium HD app
Thanks for the responses guys, will try the other browsers mentioned.

[Q] Internet Problem, having to Stop App and Clear Cache Daily!

As the title suggests, the included internet browser app on my HTC One is frequently having to be stopped and then the cache cleared to make it work.
It'll be fine for a while then will decide to just not load anything, even if I close other tabs, the signal is full etc but the loading bar moves slowly then gets to the centre and stops. Even when opening links from emails it can happen too.
Has anyone come across this?
