I got tmobile in USA, NYC. I like the xiaomi mi max 2 but it doesnt come with NFC and I heard the call quality is not that great in NYC on tmobile. Also heard that one person was having issues with receiving text. Since its Nougat I dont think Xposed will work on it. Hopefully Xposed will work in Oreo.
What are some good alternatives to this phone that will work smoothly on tmobile in NYC with similar specs and big screen?

Yeah Xposed won't work on previous Android Version (Nougat) , But will work on next Android version (Oreo).. Nice thinking Sherlock!
Cool. But wanted some info as to the pone itself. Is it worth getting? Will I encounter any issues with it on tmobile USA? And what must I do to use substratum on it?

Considering your requirements and keeping other details in mind like price, OS, processor and "Value for Money" factors here are my picks for you.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3
LG Q6 Plus
Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro
MiMax 2 will not be able to receive T Mobile 3G in NYC. you will have to live with Edge

This works so much better than the stock HDR feature - it's actually one of the main reasons why I insisted on a Snapdragon model.
Does anyone know the video recording limit on this camera app ?

There should be a download link on the post, it's right above the interview with the developer. Yes, I have them both installed on my home screen and they both work fine. Just install it like a regular apk.
Seems Note 8‘s camera works as well as google camera?
Is there somewhere that explains the differences in the various algorithms? I searched around but found only bits and pieces.
Also, it would be nice if someone could post which settings actually work for the Note 8. I tried a few and some wouldn't save and others
(I'm not a big camera buff and really don't use my phone's camera that much, otherwise I would.)
I'm seeing people state that the Google Camera is a bit better than the Stock Samsung one, but my experience is the opposite. Google Camera is giving me bad low light performance. I even used setting from the forums and was still subpar. What settings are you guys using?
I couldn't get this to work on my AT&T Note8 un-rooted.

Not correct. Works on Exynos too but if you try to make any changes to settings it'll crash. Only way to revive is by clearing storage from settings!
However I didn't find it significantly better than stock camera and night time/poor lit/dark conditions photos are definitely better with stock camera.

BlackBerry Work is not a widely used app and has problems on almost every device, so it is possible that it does not work, and the chances of getting a good response may be slim. As for running, I installed the app after reading this and it does open fine (but obviously I cannot use it). Do you recall what issues in particular were said about the app?
It worked totally fine for me on the stock rom. I've upgraded to HAVOC now and it still works perfectly after hiding root in Magisk.

Seeing that it is an MDM app there were some reports that it could not be activated. That may or may not be driven by company policy, too.
Either way good to go hear it works at least for some.
Prior to the Pie update on Sprint I had the capability using simultaneous voice and data. The Pie update disabled that. Is it possible to flash the previous baseband? And does anyone have it? I need the capability to work. It would be greatly appreciated.
It wasn't active on Sprint's Note 9 back in Oreo, there was a "loophole" that allowed you to enable "calling plus". Sprint decommissioned calling plus back in September and the Note 9 Pie update closed off the hack so someone needs to either find another no-root method or we'll have to wait for Sprint to enable VOLTE.
The Note 9 is still capable of talk'n'surf. You can see it in action when you flip on wifi calling, make a wifi call, and turn off wifi while still in the call. It hands the call off to the LTE connection and you're able to talk'n'surf.
I'm surprised that VOLTE hasn't been enabled on the Note 9 yet since Sprint has it running on iPhones and Galaxy S phones. I'm sure they'll flip it on but the wait is annoying.
No lie my note 9 could share surf the web and share internet connection while in call as long as it was outgoing. It stopped working after the Pie update. So I downgraded to Oreo but the capability wasn't there which makes me think that the baseband software was changed. So if I can flash to a previous baseband (if possible) that should do the trick. I wasn't able to do call waiting but I'm willing to make that tradeoff. Does anyone know if it's possible to downgrade the baseband software?
Off topic, has anyone had a problem with phone app stop working after updating to pie?

Nevermind, I did a factory reset and now everything is fine
I guess nobody heard me lol. Are there any sprint users who recovered VOLTE by downgrading to Oreo? If so what steps did you take? Any help greatly appreciated.
Just found this, and I have your answer. Using Odin, you can flash back to Oreo for your carrier. I did this to recover my voice and data, using Shortcut Master to enable it. Pie broke that little exploit, so until Sprint either pulls the heads out of their rear and joins the modern era, or someone figures out the same exploit for Pie, I'm sticking to Oreo.
Yeah I finally got it to work. And who says planned obsolescence doesn't exist. Smh
Besides Android PIE being a total piece of garbage, about a year ago, Google/Android had hired a bunch of iOS Developers.
Maybe that's why Android PIE Looks, Feels, and Acts kind of like the iPhone.
Nobody is really talking about this fact. WHY?!

I talked about it once. I mentioned how the latest android is becoming more like iOS in its functionality or lack of. Not only is Google android becoming more like iOS it's also taking more and more information from its users data wise and location wise. I can see myself someday going back to iOS due to the fact Google is starting to take the pi$$.

But you're not using Android 8, anymore, are you? You were talking about Android 9 and so was I. Samsung removed the dual camera feature in Android 9, just like they have removed a great many other features, as well. These things are all well documented across the treads on this forum. It's nothing new.
FFS why didnt I read the CONS of the pie update...
I lost the dual camera, i lost the call recording options for what?
For Samsung UI?! Sure it looks better but.... its just UI

People need to stop being Iphone users. Back in the day, I recall they tried to remove the SD card with the S6. We didn't buy the phone.
Sales did horribly and Samsung said sure, we will put it back.
Now, everyone is flocking buying the S21, sales doing pretty good.
On top no one goes and tells Samsung on Twitter anything.
Samsung wants to make IPHONES.
That's their goal. That's why they paid millions to BTS singers just to get the fanbase.
Hey guys. Anyone have any updates on how close we are to getting root access yet? Will happily donate to who ever is doing it for there hard work ?

You cannot root the snapdragon variant phones. Sorry, I take that back. You can root them but it breaks Knox, Samsung Pay, and a bunch of other stuff. It trips some sort of fuse.

Buy the Razer Phone 2. Right now it's cheaper than any of its competition and it has root. The Galaxy S10 is a pretty good phone now that I've had an opportunity to use it for games that won't run on rooted and unlocked devices (like Fate/GO)
Someone already got TWRP to boot on Exynos S10, this phone is too popular to not get root(Exynos bootloader unlocked models). It is a matter of time, I'd say within next few weeks one of the smart devs here will have root and within a month or two Magisk support as well.

The dev behind Magisk got an S10 already so I'd guess it shouldn't be long for Magisk to support the phones. And if TWRP is already sort of available I'd imagine we'll have root im worse case scenario at the end of April.
