Edge Lighting never works when the screen is off? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Anyone else have this issue?
No matter what settings I change, the edge lighting never happens when the screen is off.

Try to change thickness iu edge settings. The more thick the more visible.

OptiContrast Panel? Z/ZL

Good evening,
This isn't really a huge deal but I do want to get to the bottom of this.
Does both Z and ZL have OptiContrast Panel? I've checked both white papers and theres only ONE line that mentions it:
The OptiContrast™ panel makes the phone seamlessly, strikingly black when turned off.

like what is that even supposed to mean? I thought OptiContrast was supposed to be better? Explanation of OptiContrast Panel
anyway so I went to dig deeper. I've used to own 2 ZLs C6506 and 1 Z C6602, currently with C6603.
Both Zs (C6602/3) back of the box clearly states "OptiContrast Panel"
whereas,
if i do recall clearly, both ZLs (C6506) has nothing mentioned on the back of the box.
SSs below, the two without it are ZLs and the one with it is Z, as you can see the water drop picture on the side stating that its water resistant.
1) Does Z and ZL even have OptiContrast Panel? or does it mean something else for Xperia line?
2) Is OptiContrast Panel limited to only Sony TVs? or is Sony throwing us off, part of marketing scam?
Going by the description you posted for the term, I'm pretty sure it just refers to the bezel around the display.
On the Xperia Z regardless of colour choice, when the display is off the entire front glass is black.
On the Xperia ZL the bezel is the colour of the rest of the phone. So you don't get one black sheet of glass when off.
Just compare the white version of each and you will see what I mean.

ahhh that would make a bit more sense, but its really a shame that they cant bring the tech to the phones. Sony couldve thought of a better name for this rather than using "OptiContrast" Panel -.-
all just seems like a marketing scam sigh

I don't know what to say, here they are advertising it differently for the Xperia tablet z? Lol
Still marketing bs?!!

Back panel chips.

I took my Xperia Z out of its cover this morning to realise almost 20 tiny chips in the back panel. The cover definitely did not cause those chips and I have neither placed it on a rough surface or dropped the phone.
Has anyone faced any similar issues?

Got any pictures?
From me to you.

No more future S5 Active? What do you think?

So Samsung made their S5 water resistant. Is Samsung going to release S5 Active?
I hope there will be S5 Active and future Actives toi. I really like hardware buttons and LCD screen. No typical AMOLED burned pixels.
What do you think? Will you move to S5? Me not. I like my S4 Active.

Headphone Jack - Water Damage Indicator

Have you notice inside the 3.5mm headphone jack a White Round Sticker? Is it a water damage Indicator?
Don't you think it is TOO explosed on the front of the jack?
Is there anyone that can check for me if there is such a sticker in his 3.5 Audio Jack?
Thank you!

Hello there,
I have seen it many tear off videos in YouTube. Actually is quite a small sticker dot inside the Jack.
In the tear down videos you can notice it in the Jack cover, better seen when the Jack is completely removed!
Hope you are enjoying your Phone!

Hello,
I think it is indeed a liquid damage indicator (LDI).
I think this because:
1)The sticker on my headphone jack is colored pink. (So it indeed changes color and indicates at least something.)
2)The LDI sticker on smarthphones is often on the headphone jack(Iphone) or close to battery.
I think also that it is too exposed: I have no liquid damage but the indicator indicates moisture.

led.....just about

hi all,
just got my p10 - seems a nice device - actually swapped upgrade lg g6 for it due to that not having notification led
....but although p10 does have led colors .... it isn't the best! ..... pretty much hard to see
....wondering if the fitted screen protector it comes with is further hiding the light :/
cheers
dan
Screen protector is transparent at least mine. On my device it is glowing quite well, it's not a big led like on old phones but still visible.
