Hello, what going to append if i update my rooted phone on B136 to B170 because i readed that if i update with OTA Update my phone can go in a bootloop. Thanks for the answer.
It might be possible. Do not update ota when you are rooted. Download the latest firmware from huawei-updates.ru for your specified model, take the zip into your sdcard in a folder named dload ( you can create it if you dont have it) and go to updater, local update and select it.
Thanks ! and like that I'm not gonna have any problem ?
And and I can directly go to B170 or not?

I made that you say but didn't worked ... thanks for the help .
Keep it in that folder and try to force update by powering down your phone and power it up pressing vol up+ down and power button
Thanks it worked !
No problem sir, here to help
Nooo! don't know why but my phone go to a bootloop.... tried everythink....
Hmm, try to plug in it an usb cable and flash an old firmware for it trough adb.
Can you give me some link to do that ? and thanks !
U need adb toolkit, a version of b170, search on huawei-updates.ru , prefferably the european version. Get huawei package extractor and extract from update.app found in the zip of b170, system.img, cust.img, boot.img,recovery.img. and flash them one by one in fastboot mode. If not, if u had a nandroid backup made with twrp u can restore. U can search google on a detailed guide to do that, as I may induce you in error, not a native explainer talent here
Or you can extract it and flash automatically all in one clic with a script(for all firmware )

I got to beta 6.0, installed twrp, root it, but it did not permanently, uninstall some system app (google+, maps, etc) after a few reboots superSU was asking for binaries; so I unroot it.
How can I get back to stock recovery? And if so, If I make a factory reset, would it boot correctly for a new setup (because of the erased apps earlier).
Thanx mates, regards
Hi!
I see the large number of requests concerning the roolback of a custom rom to a official and untouched EMUI 4, i decide to create this thread.
After follow that methode, you able to rest on official EMUI and get the new update automatically on OTA (directly on your phone) OR try to install custom rom with a clear and good base version.
1. You ave access on TWRP?
-If not, pleas unlock your bootloader (again) and flash TWRP recovery for you actual version (marshmallow or nougat).
-perform a full wipe and restore your partitions on "ext4" format, shutdown phone.
2. Get a "oem_info.zip" for your model phone (dont extract the .zip) and push it on your internal or external sd.
-This archive contain cust and oem info for patched your phone at the correct manufacture information.
-I have a link for VNS-L31 (c432, but is not very important) HERE LINK
-If you have other model (VNS-L31) pleas find a correct patch for you (VNS-L21, ...).
3. Find and download a EMUI marshmallow official full-ota update.
-for a VNS-L31 i advice choice a VNS-L31C432B160 full-ota update.
4. Unpack your update archive.
5. Create "dload" folder on your internal or external sd and put it UPDATE.APP
6. Reboot phone on TWRP recovery and flash "oem_info.zip"
7. Use dload methode for update (hold 3 buttons phone and dont release before "dload screen" appears)
8. Unlock your bootloader again (important!) And make a factory reset
9. Your phone reboot (please wait ) and done!
Ok now you are on official version, please update on setting menu >> update and choice, rest on official or flash a custom rom..
P9 lite brick precision:
In my personal experience the "p9 lite" is very easy to flash, mod or other tips and the risk of HARD brick is very very tiny.
If you see this page and your phone bootloop, relax, keep calm at 99,999% you have a little and ridiculous brick
Good luck and flash happy!

Update: I can now reach point 7 but now won't do dload (3 buttons) method... Huawei logo all the time. Can't even turn off the phone
In my other thread you post the same problem but is not entirely the same..
You succeeded to enter on fastboot mode? Flash recovery?
If you follow the steps 1-5 is impossible to fail the 6 point..

I did update the post... 3 hours ago I wasn't able to enter TWRP, some way I did managed, now I can enter fastboot, I did flash custOEM (sorry I don't remember exactly the name but it's the one of your post) .zip file. Now I can't do dload method, stuck on huawei logo. If I try to go to recovery, I got red message "phone fail validation"...
I know, I post on both but I was trying to do everything...
just tried... validation red error message won't let me go to TWRP now...

How can I wipe all partitions if stuck in Huawei logo? Is there a way to do everything from adb command line? (I'm using Mac and cannot use all the tools I've found here XDA neither hiSuite which is basically a backup photo/video only the Mac version).
Thank for helping, really appreciate
To answer your question in the other thread, yes bootloader is unlocked and I am on C432.
What's your rom have before the bootloop?
You have the right version of TWRP for your rom?
If you have a MM version Don't flash a TWRP for N.
Send me a link to TWRP version used (thread forum)

Before the bootloop I was on L31C900 (on the phone) but I did actually flashed C432B160 because I did rollback. TWRP used I've found in the other post where there's a OEMfile to flash (but for this I need to double check because I did look so many pages which I am not 100% sure.
I not have experience on other model that C435.
But i suggest to find a oeminfo for your variant (C900?)
For TWRP you need flash a version for MarshMallow HERE
Flash it and pas return here (fastboot flash return and first enter to new recovery)

Flash partitions on .img files is not needed.
Just find a corect oeminfo for your model phone.
Flash it on TWRP recovery.
Use dload methode to update on basical version (MarshMallow b160).
After that, unlock bootloader again and make a factory reset.
Switch on your phone (the first boot make long time).
Update on last emui on OTA.
Done!
After that you able to install a custom rom.

Correct. Because I'm not able to switch it off it won't keep the charge. When discharged, the minute I do plug on charge it wakes up... That's the loop...
My main question is: does a command exist to enter download mode using terminal?

Hi everyone,
Just taking my chances if anyone in here encountered the same issue. I'm currently on EVA-L19C636B381 and the System Updater is asking me to update to B390. However, I've tried downloading the update several times but keep on getting the "Software Install Failed" error message. Any ideas on how I can update the firmware and ensure that updates will be installed seamlessly moving forward?
Note that the bootloader was unlocked before and it used to have TWRP. Now I've relocked the bootloader and installed the stock recovery.
Thanks!
Clarification:
Version: EVA-L19C636B381 (everything's stock: BOOT, RECOVERY, RECOVERY2, SYSTEM)
Would like to update to: B390
Issue: Getting "Software install failed" error message after downloading through System Update
** Used to have TWRP and root. Flashed stock IMGs
Update:
Issue solved! Please see last post for the update/solution.

If you had TWRP, maybe you also rooted - root will also block OTA (you had to unroot in that case).
Btw, unlocked bootloader does not prevent/affect OTA

Hi zgfg!
Thanks for the response. Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, it used to be rooted. However, I've installed stock B381 and stock recovery already, and still getting the error message. Checked with Root Checker and it says that there's no root access.

Rooting affects Boot partition, it must be flashed back to stock. And it's recommended to Hard reset then, before OTA. For OTA, go to Settings, and choose Full upgrade

Yeah, that's what I did. Basically, everything's stock already. That's why I don't understand why I'm still getting the error message.
You can try downloading the full stock rom package and manually update with the dload method.

Hi noalt! Thanks for the response.
Yeah, kinda wondering if that'll work. For the dload method, does it really require an SD card? Also, for the dload method, it is okay to get the latest full package instead? (Upon checking using Firmware Finder, the latest one is B395 or B396)
Any steps that I can follow to do a sort of "clean install"? As in free of any modifications? In short, some kind of steps as alternative for using System Update (which I can't use due to the error message I'm getting)?
You can use any stock rom you like. If it is the same or higher build, you may not need to do a rollback. The dload method only works from sd-card. It will be a clean install.
I think the dload method is the safest. Alternatives are flashing images indiviually through fastboot but I have no experience with that, except for the recovery.img

I see. Regarding the dload method, if by sd-card you're referring to the internal memory, I'm afraid I've tried that (creating a dload folder and putting nothing else but the UPDATE.APP file inside) and I'm getting a Software Install Failed error message as well. :crying:
No, I mean a micro sd card. You can put one in the tray next to your sim card. And then you have to shut down you phone and boot it holding vol+ vol- and power until you get into the updater.

Ah yes, that's the one that I have yet to try (as I don't have an SD card, the other spare phone that I have is a 5s).
UPDATE:
I eventually was able to install EVA-L19C363B395!
Initially, I was having issues with the partitions (as I tinkered around a bit with TWRP) and was stuck with the Huawei logo and not proceeding with the booting. So what I did was I flashed BOOT.img, SYSTEM.img, RECOVERY.img, and RECOVERY2.img from the stock B381 (use the Huawei Update Extractor to get it from the UPDATE.APP file from the update.zip (the large file), do some Googling to find it here in XDA . Then I was still experiencing the said issue so I used the stock recovery's features: "Wipe data/factory reset" and "Wipe cache partition" to sort of repair the issues with the partitions (didn't know how to properly do it in TWRP.
Then B381 booted and was able to access USB debugging (initially had issues with this as well, after flashing images, Settings app kept on crashing when trying to access Security and Developer options).
And then finally followed the HWOTA procedure made by @Atarii. Make sure that you're going to use the proper recovery file for your version (L09, L19, etc). According to the steps, being rooted is also required so I used @zgfg's SuperSU 2.82 permissive (https://mega.nz/#F!w41RmZKB!IG53JadhjUKgFK8anbctIw). Make sure to flash it before flashing the nocheck recovery file.
And voila! That should do it. Based on what I'm seeing, root has been removed after doing the HWOTA procedure, same goes for TWRP, and bootloader's locked again.
Thanks to all of those who responded and credit goes to @Atarii and @zgfg for the procedure and file/link.
Hello,
I was trying to install a custom ROM from TWRP to my P8 Lite 2017 and I wiped all partitions except MicroSD.
The installation failed and I got the stock ROM and then I discovered that my bootloader is locked. I can access TWRP and when I flashed the stock ROM the phone just boots to TWRP Recovery. And I can't even unlock the bootloader because the phone doesn‘t have any OS and I can‘t enable OEM unlocking from the system settings. And because I have TWRP, I can’t access Huawei Recovery. So my phone is basically bricked.
Any help will be appreciated

Use dload with a service firmware.
You need to flash this 2 times, once for the firmware and second time for vendor, and the firmware UPDATE.APP can be found in the update_sd.zip and the vendor UPDATE.APP can be found in the PRA-L31 or PRA-L11 folders (most likely you will have PRA-L31,you can find this in the engineering menu by going into the dialer and typing this: *#*#2846579#*#*,and then going to Veneer Informations and Version Info, but since you cannot boot flash PRA-L31 vendor).
http://androidhost.ru/6uc - this is latest firmware, but takes a very very long time to download
https://mega.nz/#F!nwhAWDjC!cNovAN6dKLlO_YZ9fjMbzQ - this is the first official firmware released, but download speed is very good

Hello again, I've been using the older service firmware for few months now and now I decided to install the latest service firmware after I had no success with flashing the firmware through TWRP and I downloaded the service firmware put the necessary files to the dload folder and installed it via the software update in the dialer and typing *#*#2846579#*#* and going to dload that way. It installed to 100% and then when it restarted it goes to Error Mode and it says to update the firmware again but it just loops to error mode and I cannot do anything so I think I accidentally removed some neccessary files in the dload folder but now I would need to fix the error mode loop.
Hey guys.
I was on EMUI 9.1.0.166(C675) which is the May 2020 security update and I wanted to unlock my bootloader which is only possible if you are on EMUI 8 with a security patch of June 2018 or below. There was no option in HiSuite to downgrade as well. I came across many users not able to find the right firmware to flash for their device. So I made this guide to help them.
These are the details of my device before downgrading
Model Number: LLD-AL10
EMUI Version: 9.1.0.166(C675E6R1P4)
These are the firmware I flashed in order to reach the desired version in order to unlock the bootloader.
1. EMUI 9.1.0.112(C675E4R1P4T8) https://androidhost.ru/1lau
This firmware should be flashed via dload method.
2. After successfully flashing this. You can connect your device to HiSuite and then you'll get an option to switch to EMUI 8.0.
3. Then flash EMUI 8.0.0.194 via dload method again https://androidhost.ru/29Fa
4. Finally flash this firmware version via dload. Click here
P.S You can maybe skip step 3 and directly flash the firmware in Step 4. I don't know if it'll work or not.
After flashing the 4th firmware, your device may bootloop and go to erecovery. This is completely fine. If it goes into erecovery just wipe the data/factory reset and you're good to go!
Hope this will help you guys!

I don't know but you can try! It's perfectly safe because even if the firmware is not compatible it will just say update failed. Nothing will happen to the device.
Not works on HONOR 9 Lite LLD-L31

Hi, Instructions are not clear. Can you please provide excat directory to save the files on memory card?
I have tried placing the zip file on memory card. It says 'No upgrade file'. I've extracted and placed the dload folder in memory card. Then it says 'update failed'. No matter how hard I try, I'm not able to apply the update on step 1.
Hello. I have been following your guide on unlocking honor 9 lite bootloader. I reached till step 3 successfully. The firmware in step 4 (google drive link) is missing. I want to unlock my honor 9 lite and your guide seems to be quite helpful! Hope you will correct the drive link. Thankyou!
Hey majid, can you tell me which file do i need to copy to the root directory of the sd card as there are many folders in the dload folder in the rom you provided.
