[SOLVED] Bluetooth connection to carkit: no sound - Moto G5S Plus Questions & Answers

Hello,
My Moto G5S Plus (XT1805) can connect to my Parrot CK3100 carkit via bluetooth. I can receive and initiate calls from the carkit.
Problem is that the sound is not played over the car's speakers, but through the phone's earpiece.
The carkit worked fine with my previous phone (Moto X Play). Both phones have an unlocked bootloader, stock rom, and are rooted (Magisk).
How can I get the sound to play over the car's speakers?

Are you sure? Reason I am asking is that there is no cable that I can unplug. There is a short fixed cable on the control unit, that goes into the dashboard. Before spending a lot of time opening up the dashboard, trying to find a power cable, I want to be sure it is the solution.
When the car's power is turned off, the parrot switches off. So what does unplugging the power cable add to that?
Edit: Despite the fact that the carkit already had the latest firmware, I reflashed it. According to the documentation this leads to a reset. Unfortunately this does not solve the problem.

Playing music requires A2DP communication, your Parrot has only HFP - therefore music cannot be sent to it by default.
With a bit of tweaking it could work but the sound quality will be poor and in mono.

I don't want to play music. I want to make phone calls.

Could there be a problem with the Bluetooth implementation in the G5S Plus?
I have an ELM327 bluetooth OBD-II adapter. If I connect it to my car's OBD-connector, the G5S doesn't even see the adapter under bluetooth devices. My old Moto X Play (also running stock Android Nougat) does see the adapter.
Why can one phone see the adapter, and the other one doesn't?

Today I tested the Bluetooth connection on a Pioneer car stereo with Bluetooth. I received a phone call, and the sound did come through the phone, not through the car's speakers.
So I think the problem is in the phone. Is it a general problem of the Moto G5S Plus? Do I have to change some settings to get it to work?

After a system update to NPSS26.116-26-8 (with the January 2018 patches) the problem is solved. Both on the Parrot and the Pioneer audio through the car's speakers is working. On the Pioneer playing music is working as well.

Moto G5s Plus Blue Tooth Issue with car stereo
My Moto G5s Plus does not connect to my car stereo which is of Sony make (not sure of the model). The phone detects and connects to all other BT devices nearby except the car stereo. Surprisingly, my old Moto G (1st Gen) used to work perfectly fine with the same car stereo. Is there any issue with Moto G5s Plus then? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bluetooth car kit dialing does not work

I have a Dension Gateway Five Bluetooth car kit and it is working perfectly with other devices (HTC HD2 Android, HTC Sensation, Samsung S3).
With the RAZR i I can use it to pick up calls just fine but I cannot use the phonebook to dial out. I can also use the phone to dial out just fine.
But when I dial from my car stereo/BT it seems that it does not dial, but when I look in the call history I would see a call with a duration of 0 seconds. So it is dialing.....
I have even completely reset the car kit.
I have seen there is another thread here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2051863) about BT but it seems to be regarding a different issue and I cannot try the tool as I cannot root my device.
Any ideas anyone or same behaviour?
Regards,
KalleH
I have the same issue.
I have a Ford car and I connect my Razr I to my Ford car stereo via bluetooth. Before JB OTA update (I got it last week), Bluetooth was ok : I was able to manage my Razr I from the keypad of the Ford car stereo (dial, answer call, ...)
Since JB update, when I am trying to dial, it does not work if the screen is locked. However, if the screen is unlocked, I am able to use the phone from car stereo.
Even if the setting "Parameters -> Security & screen lock -> Allow Bluetooth bypass" is ON, it does not work ...
I eventually found how to get bluetooth working on my car stereo.
I just delete the pairing (in the car stereo and in the Razr I) and I did a new bluetooth pairing between my car and my Razr I.
All works fine now.

Bluetooth and driving mode

One of the things that was frustrating on the old X was that driving mode was sort of useless if the device connected to your car Bluetooth. My understanding is that there are two reasons:
1) The primary reason is a2dp. All audio is routing through Bluetooth and unless you car is set to the Bluetooth/aux input, you don't get any of that audio. The phone is sending to the car but the phone doesn't know the car isn't playing it.
2) moto sort of assumed while on Bluetooth in your car, the car is handling everything and you don't need their Assistance.
Thoughts on these? Any way for the features to still work on the new x while on Bluetooth?
Two years later... did you find a solution?
I too am finding it annoying that Moto X won't cut in with an announcement over the car stereo. I've just come from Windows Phone 8.1 and it had no problem doing that. Have you found a solution that works?
I find that it works quite fine. In my phone BT settings, I set my car bluetooth to media only. I set my BT earpiece to calls only. I get all moto drive, Google voice notifications over the car stereo. My phone calls go to the earpiece for privacy. Moto drive still announces calls over the car BT stereo.
Reading the original post, my car stereo is always on BT. I stream music / content through my phone when I'm in the car. I don't use the radio or CD player.

[Q] Bluetooth audio dropout

I just got a Z3 compact. I switched from a Moto X that did not have any bluetooth issues (which is still in my possession in case I can't fix this).
Anyway, when I connect to my Pioneer MVH-X560BT stereo, music will play but the audio will drop out completely every few minutes. The audio will go out for around a second. It's not lag because the song doesn't also pause when the bluetooth audio drops. After a second audio will return. I have tried many apps (Walkman, Power amp, google play, spotify, etc.) and they all produce the same occasional pause. I have used a few different phones with this stereo and have never experienced this issue.
I bought my Z3c online from someone who had unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom ROM. I found out how to install the stock Sony rom with Emma and thought that would fix my bluetooth issues. It did not. I doubt an unlocked bootloader would affect bluetooth.
I have turned on the bluetooth log and installed the Xperia bluetooth fix app, but I was seeing if anyone here had any insight.
Bluetooth problem
I don't think your problem is related to the unlocked bootloader, I have problem even with the Bluetooth of my alpine, I have to pair the two every time I switch on the car stereo and even with the music over Bluetooth sometimes the z3c doesn't send the music. I hope for a future update because is very annoying. P.s. my bootloader is locked.

Exactly the same here
Yup, seems to be a problem at Sony's end - this happens for me with Sony Bluetooth headphones as well as with my car. Didn't happen with the Galaxy S4
hi
same probme here, with my Z3C and my Pioneer MVH-X560BT stereo .. still no solution, sony did nothing to correct the problem
even if, when i use z3c with my home 's bluetooth speaker, it works flawilessy .. and when i used to stream music with my moto g 4G on my Pioneer MVH-X560BT stereo, it worked flawilessy ..
it do not understand it, and even reflecting well ..

BLU R1 HD issues with Bluetooth HSP and Wired headsets

Hi Guys,
I have the Amazon's original version (with the ads version), and I experience the following issues.
1) Blutooth connects initially with both A2D and HSP fine, however after a disconnection, it can't connect again to HSP, only to A2D. I've seen this with x2 devices - BLU can't connect to them both after disconnection to with HSP. Only after rebooting the phone, it can connect again initaly to HSP.
2)When plugging a wired headset, I can hear through it great, and also record my own voice with voice recorder, i.e mic and headphones work. However when dialing, I can hear the other side, but the other side can't hear me. Tried with x2 different wired headset, that worked good with another phone.
I've tried searching for info on these issue, but couldn't find anything. Could you advise ?
Thanks,
Michael.

As far as your wired headset issue, it does not happen on my r1 or my sisters r1. Your phone may just be defective in some way. I have called people successfully using a headset
Having same issues and found that by doing a reboot or restart I can correct them. But it comes back later. Irritating!
I see this too often as well. Restarting the speaker doesn't help - I have to reboot the phone to get it working again. It's very annoying as the built-in speaker is so bad that I always want to use the Bluetooth speaker when I'm home.

2 bluetooth connections

Hi,
I've recently bought a new car which has Bluetooth but rather stupidly I've just discovered that it can only be used for calls. So what I'd like to do is buy a 2nd Bluetooth receiver and connect it to the cars aux port so that I can stream Spotify to my car. But my question is, could I be connected to both Bluetooth devices at the same time and could I configure one (the cars) for calls and the other (3rd party) for music? If so how would I set this up on the phone?
Many thanks
Yes it could. I'm using it that way
Just disable calls on 1st and disable music on 2nd device

i'd have thought you are just not setting it up right in the car, but i had a Mini loaner that was also somehow only phone use and not music enabled. just weird.
in your bluetooth settings, there's an exclamation mark inside a circle that is used for device-specific settings (as any other phone has as well) that will let you choose phone and/or media for each device.
so your car will be phone only of course, but on your bluetooth receiver, you'd pair it, and you have the option to turn off the phone function for that receiver so that its an audio-only device
