Stuck voicemail & stopwatch notification! - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Any idea how I can get rid of the stopwatch & voicemail icon?
I've had my voicemail turned off by my network provider so can't call voicemail. There was no voicemails anyway but the icon remained.
The other is the stopwatch I think. All out shows is a square with a line in it.
Turning the phone on & off again won't remove them either so would appreciate some help

Try to slide down notifications and on that notification click on block. Reset phone afterwards. If that doesn't work then try to look for voicemail app in settings> Apps and try to clear data/cache. Same steps with stopwatch^
Curious question why do you have your voicemail turned off? Lol

Yeah I've tried all that. Clearing the cache & data for the clock does nothing as the stopwatch remains
If I clear cache & data for the 1st of the 3 phone icons in system apps that will remove voicemail icon but returns in startup.
Don't need voicemails if im honest

remove sms preview in status

Hiya
is there a way to remove / stop my sms/mms been previewed on the status bar at the top of the screen
its a bit of a privacy nightmare having 1/2 a message shown
esp as 1/2 a message can be taken out of context
ive been searching but there are so many ways to describe what i want to happen im getting no where
any pointers would be awesome
regards D
You'd have to disable the notification all together.
Or switch to another sms app.
You might be able to disable the notifications and use Missed Call to still allow led's and notification sounds when you get a new sms.
Just a thought, havn't tried this myself.

Try the app Missed Call.
It might let you get the led's back so that you'll know when you get a sms.
Good luck with this.
if i could program id take a look at the code for the app and remove the line or two that does the displaying lol but i fail at even bash
aww i had hopes then but i will try other missed call apps and maybe a new sms app if i can find a good one
download dgalert from the market. you can customize a lot and it replaces the default notification but trust me its better. give it a try..theres an option for privacy that doesnt show the text
chompSMS is one of the best apps i can think of. great interface, tons of notification settings like choosing what color icon you want, led color, showing the message in the status bar, etc

Notifications stay in status bar after interaction - Help

Every time I get a notification, I click on it in the notification bar and it takes me to the app (messages or Gmail or whatever). I can read the message, delete the email, etc.. but when I drag down notifications the notification is still there... They used to no longer show the notification after interacting.
Why are they not clearing once clicked? Very annoying. I don't think was happening when I first installed Lollipop, but maybe. Anyone else have this or know why it may be doing this? I have to go back and manually clear them after interacting.

App notifications

For some reason I am not getting notifications from one app except one time last night. it's enabled within the app and when I go to settings >> app >> notifications, everything is turned on. is there another setting somewhere I'm missing?
Anyone has any idea how to solve it? tried reinstalling, deleting app cache, deleting partition cache, but nothing helped.
YouTube Vanced is doing that to me
It's frustrating and I also noticed gmail doesn't always alert me of a new e-mail when the screen is off, even now I used the phone and gmail notification doesn't show at all. what is happening with this phone? never had this problem before.
GMail has been flaky for me on some other devices before.
I wonder if it's Samsung's "put apps to sleep" feature that's causing some of this.
I noticed the same thing after switching back from energy saving mode to optimized mode.
On the energy saving mode I only reduced the CPU speed but still no notifications, so I went back to the optimized mode.
Just checked the sleeping apps and my problematic apps aren't listed there.
I'm always on "optimized" power mode since I got it, I even put them in 'apps not optimized' but it changed nothing.
it's bad enough there's no notification LED but not being alerted when there's something new is a downgrade for me.
Since its on topic, any way to stop the stock messaging app from waking the screen with its notifications?

Try going to Settings >> apps >> messages >> new messages >> click on 'lock screen' & select 'don't show notifications'. do the same with 'General notifications' and see if it works.
I've found Pie very intermittent with app notifications count badges, from S9 beta to S10 now
Its hit and and miss

I hope they fix it if it really is pie, the problem is I'm not getting ANY notifications from one specific app and I should be getting many a day.
I am having the same issue, hoping for a fix.

that stops the notifications from showing on the lock screen all together.
back on thread here - I was only receiving gmail notifications in batches and only when i'd wake the screen and unlock the phone. I turned off battery optimization and it seems to have corrected itself. Any app that you are not getting notifications for, make sure they are not being battery optimized.

Oh you mean like whatsapp messages wake up the screen, no idea how to change it to get a notification without the screen.
Yes I already tried placing these apps in the 'not optimized' list but it didn't change anything. gmail is still random & the other completely mute.

That thing to turn off battery optimization doesn't do a thing. Have never worked for any Androids I've had. It doesn't give instant notifications for apps not being optimized and the battery is not becoming any better if every damn app is being optimized either. I don't understand why the setting is there if it doesn't do a thing.
Does anyone face the issue that WhatsApp calls do not turn on the screen when screen is off? When I receive a WhatsApp call, I hear the ringtone, but the screen remains off, once I double tap to wake up the screen, I see the WhatsApp incoming call interface. Normally, incoming WhatsApp calls automatically turn on the screen and show the incoming call interface...

Stuck message icon

Every time I get a text message and go to the app to respond then leave the app as I normally do, the new text message icon will stay there until I either open the notification blind or lock the phone. Is anyone else having this? I'm not sure how to get rid of it. I tried clearing the cache for the messaging app and also toggling notification permissions.

Notification issue?

My notification dots are frozen, it tells me I have a notification for Facebook, Twitch and when I open the app they don't seem to clear, I shouldn't even be getting notifications because they're dismissed through the drop down when I get them. Happened in the last few hours. Anyone else having the same issue?
I haven't experienced your problem. I'm assuming by notification dots you mean App Badges that show the unread/unresponded to count. These typically go away when you tap the icon in the notification panel to view the event or swipe the notification away in the notification panel. If you're doing one or both of these actions and the count remains try disabling the App Badges for the affected apps and then enabling them again.
Settings>Apps>locate the affected apps>Notifications>App Badges, toggle it off, then back out and then go back in and toggle it on if you still wish to view them.
In another instance where I saw something like this happening the user also tried clearing the cache and app data, but didn't achieve success until they uninstalled the app and installed it again. That wouldn't work for Facebook however because it is a pre-installed app and therefore cannot be uninstalled but it can be disabled. That could be enough if the above method doesn't work for you.
