Lockscreen Options? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Anyone have any good options for shortening the stock lockscreen required swipes/taps to unlock the phone?
Basically the steps NOW are as follows: Hard Press Active Display button > Lock screen > Swipe > Draw Pattern. That's 3 taps/swipes.
Is there a way to have the Pattern points ON the first lockscreen? I like its simple, minimalist look but I don't like having to swipe... just to swipe again.
I looked through settings but couldn't find an option. I also really miss my double tap to wake/sleep from the LG phones. Didn't the Galaxy S7 Edge have double tap to wake while using the Active display option?
The lockscreen just seems to take way too many steps to get to the desktop. My Note 5, it seemed I would press the home button and enter in my pattern. Easy.

Settings > Display > Navigation Bar > Unlock With Home Button
Make sure that's toggled on.

You are the best!
What a weird place for that option to be. That absolutely does the trick.
Sadly it only works for a hard press and not a double tap though through but I'll take that as a win.

[Q] Navbar Refuses to Hide on Lockscreen (WidgetLocker)

Hi,
I am currently using WidgetLocker as my default lockscreen and it is working well, stock lockscreen isn't showing at all etc., but one MAJOR drawback. I can't get the Navbar (softkeys?) to minimize on the lockscreen. Its probably just an easy fix and I'm somehow missing it, any ideas?
Have you disabled it in the settings? If I remember correctly, there's 2 places in the settings to do that.... which is weird.
Try:
Settings > Buttons & Gestures
Also try:
Settings > Look & Feel
As for the Nav bar/softkeys .... I dunno.
Good Luck.
Temp Fix.

I found a temporary fix. For some reason if you select allow home on the lock screen it minimizes on the lockscreen...
If you swipe up from the bottom though, you can go home without unlocking.

Unable to remove icons from home screen

Hi everyone,
I am not sure what i did, but i am unable to remove icons from touchwiz home screen. When i was setting everything up, i was able to do so by holding down on the icon and a menu would popup, but not anymore. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Figured it out. I disabled the animations via developers menu which somehow caused the pop-up for removal of icons not to appear.
Had the same thing on my S8 - I suspected that the developer settings were at fault - but I didn't want to believe it. Thanks for the tip.
Turning off Animator Duration Scale in Developer Options will cause this issue. Set it to 0.5x and it will work again.

Accidental touches

Hi,
I'm starting to get really frustrated with my S10! When I have it in my pocket it's registering touches even though I'm not even touching my pocket I have my phone in.
I just got back home from my local gym and while I was exercising it has sent a photo from my gallery to different people on Facebook, even people from other places in the world who is not on my friend list.
I have enabled the option in settings to avoid accidental touches and the increased sensibility option is disabled as well and so is the raise to wake option.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
Heya,
I think that's an issue with all Samsung devices running on Android 9. Its actually the Fingerprint icon and/or double tap to wake up feature.
Try doing the following :-
1> Go to Settings > Advanced Features > Motion and Gestures and then turn off "Double Tap to Wake".
2> Go to Settings > Biometrics and Security > Fingerprints then Turn off "Show icon when screen is off".
If that still doesn't works, go to the same settings page in Step 1, and turn off "Lift to Wake Up" too.
Let me know if it works out for you.

Ankit S.

Is there a way to have flashlight shortcut on the lock screen? Ideally by button press.

One of the most used function is missing on this phone
Draw a "V" on the screen whilst it's turned off and the flashlight will turn on/off

This doesn't work on X5 pro that I have
Did you activate the feature as described on the Oppo-site that appears after you click on my link?
It works on mine after doing so:
Go to [Settings] > [Gesture & Motion] > [Screen-off Gestures] > toggle to enable or disable [Screen-off Gestures].
You can also have more Screen-off Gestures by tapping [Add a Screen-off Gesture].
There are 7 more gestures to choose from.

Question Double Tap to screen On/Off

Hi Guys,
Is it possible to enable double tap to turn screen on and off on motorola edge 30 ultra?
Thanks so much !
Single tap only, double tap is omitted due to the in- screen fingerprint sensor, so as soon as u touch the screen, the screen comes alive (which is done in order to make fp-unlocking faster)

Where is this setting located? I cannot double-tap on blank space to power off.
Double Tap Screen On/Off will help you to minimize the usage of power button.

I have been looking for this setting for almost 10mins but I didn't find it anymore, but I'm sure it was there in the older OS version, my screen is still able to be turn on/off with double tap.

Here.
Go to Settings > Gesture shortcuts > Jump to lock screen
Toggle on and the phone will ask you whether you double tap to go directly to lockscreen (NOT peek display) or the usual peek display.
Go to Settings > Gesture shortcuts > Put display to sleep
Toggle on to enable.

It's been removed in the latest update. At least for EU devices.
I've the stock X30 Pro version. I can tell you some menu translation is all over the place. The "Jump To the Lock Screen" originally translated as "Double Tap" in the simplified Chinese language.
Under Display-> Peek Display, toggle the switch on and off, the phone will ask you to show fingerprint sensor or not. If you choose No, double tap WILL NOT WORK even if "Jump to lock screen" is on. It's surely a bug or something. Anyway a single tap always wakes up the screen and show "peek display" screen or "fingerprint sensor" icon, depends on what you chose before. Double tap when the screen is off will skip the "peek display" and goes into lock screen. AFAIK there's no true double tap to screen on so far......

Yeah, so the only way to turn on double tap to lockscreen is to enable Peek Display.
The behavior of the phone will be like this-
1. Single tap to peek display AND
2. Double tap to lock screen
It cannot be OR.
Also, once you turned on Jump to Lockscreen, you can NOT turn on "move phone to show peek display"
This is not a bug as the logic behind this is the phone's peek display will ALWAYS turn on once you moved the phone. Hence, impossible to double tap to lockscreen (you CANNOT double tap from peek display to go to the lockscreen).
