I use another Virtual Keyboard instead of Gboard
However, I accidentally disable Gboard
Now my Nokia 8 force me for "Password" (after restart). But no keyboard appear for input
What can I do Now? :crying::crying::crying:
In a similar situation I had to go into recovery and hard reset my phone. You will lose everything of course, but I don't know if there is another way.

You'll have to use a OTG cable and physical keyboard.
I did this once, and with another keyboard you can only use PIN or draw.

Hi.. I'm using the Samsung Keyboard.. but all of a sudden, the symbols dissappeard. You know the ones that come up when you do a long press on a key? Also, when typing that little arrow to accept and add a word is also gone. Please help.
Did you flash a new rom? If so, look at Xposed Installer and search in modules for "Samsung Keyboard." Download the module and activate it under the Framework setting then restart the phone.
Hope that helps!

Worst comes to worse and your using a stock ROM, uninstall the updates then re-update it..clear the data for it as well.

Did you ever fix it? I'm having the same problem, the shortcuts just disappeared. I did everything cleared data/cache on the Samsung Keyboard, and I even did a factory data reset. I've never installed any roms. I noticed the problem when I installed an app from Xposed Installer called "SamsungKeyboardShortDelay", and since then the shortcuts are gone.
Hi, my first post although I've been reading these forums for a couple of years.
reason: The keyboard on my Optimus 4X HD just disappeared a few days ago, and I can only type with "Google voice typing". It doesn't even show up when I tap a text field and I can't switch to it.
In "Settings > Language & input" I can't switch to other input method and the settings are grayed out.
I would prefer not to reset the entire phone and lose everything stored in it if possible.
Is there some way to just repair the android installation or the LG keyboard app? I'm thinking there could just be some files missing or gone corrupt, but all suggestions are welcome.
It's one thing to reset android but all the apps that need reconfiguring and backing up/restoring all my files is not very tempting right now.
You can reset only the keyboard. Wipe cache in app settings. If that doesn't help, wipe data too.

I did that a couple of times already, still doesn't show the keyboard. It doesn't even seem to be running when i look for it in OS Monitor.
It's the stock LG rom 4.1.2 BTW.

I have tried that already, among the first things I did.
I installed the Hacker's Keyboard ( from the computer because searching the playstore with "google voice typing" wasn't fun. =)
But it doesn't show up although it is activated.
The input settings are grayed out as you can see in the attachment so I cant deactivate or change enything.

That's what I went to, but then I managed with great difficulty. You must restart the phone, which asks for a password is deleted. The language input and menu items, is automatically set to the voice, I should be changed keyboard.
Same problem here
Did you solve?
I can't find ANY keyboard other than google voice keyboard.
Helped me get back to MM - B 136 and then upgrade to the Nugat

SwiftKey and/or Swipe for Huawei are Huawei's default keyboards, not Google Keyboard.
Before any DLOAD update you must make sure that SwiftKey and Swipe for Huawei are both installed and enabled.
Ungortunately, many users threat them as 'bloatware' and uninstall them (and some developers of custom ROMs remove them), and people then run into the problems.
Btw, it's a known issue, long time ago discussed in several threads
Hi all
New to the note 9 ,, and wanted to know if there is a GBoard mod with automatic pen detection.

Not that I've heard of, and I've been looking as well. I suppose every user who uses handwriting recognition is happy with Samsung keyboard . On the other hand, now that I think about it, you may be able to use Tasker to automatically switch keyboards when attaching / removing S Pen.

The work around I have used is enable GBoard and Google handwriting keyboard.
When s pen is removed tap the globe icon at the bottom to switch to handwriting mode.

I use tasker and a plugin called note buddy to change keyboards when the Spen is detached. Works a charm.
I have note buddy for years so cannot remember if you'll need the pro unlock key for it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tushar.spen_helper
I can post my task if you like.
you can use gboard, samsung keyboard, tasker and autotools
I use swipe mode on SwiftKey, do you guys who have tired both find that Google handwriting is faster than that? Less errors?

If you uninstall the Samsung keyboard, you will not able to get in the Accessibility Manu.
Do not disable or uninstall the samsung keyboard if you are using a password as lock screen!
If you reboot your phone (or enter Power-Saving mode) you will need to type your Password. But Gboard can start only after the first unlock and the Samsung-Keyboard will be disabled. That means, you would be locked out of your phone.
The only way would be to connect an physical keyboard over OTG (or of course factory reset)

I've disabled Samsung keyboard, using SwiftKey and never had an issue with it.
Backup your phone. Install your preferred keyboard. Select it as your default and make sure it's not flagged for battery saving, allowed as a startup app and not blocked from running in the background. Disable the native. Once confirmed all works - freeze the unwanted down/uninstall. Should definitely work.
