Hi all,
Is it safe to uninstall/ disable samsung keyboard via adb? I have moved to Gboard but Samsung's keyboard is notoriously awake for some reason...would disabling the keyboard screw up anything...Is it true that if the keyboard is disabled, I can't input the pin after a reboot?

adb command...

what is the command?

If you uninstall the Samsung keyboard, you will not able to get in the Accessibility Manu.

Do not disable or uninstall the samsung keyboard if you are using a password as lock screen!
If you reboot your phone (or enter Power-Saving mode) you will need to type your Password. But Gboard can start only after the first unlock and the Samsung-Keyboard will be disabled. That means, you would be locked out of your phone.
The only way would be to connect an physical keyboard over OTG (or of course factory reset)

I've disabled Samsung keyboard, using SwiftKey and never had an issue with it.

Backup your phone. Install your preferred keyboard. Select it as your default and make sure it's not flagged for battery saving, allowed as a startup app and not blocked from running in the background. Disable the native. Once confirmed all works - freeze the unwanted down/uninstall. Should definitely work.

[Q] Physical Keyboard autocorrecting! WTF!

Running stock OTA jellybean, (without device wipe) (rooted). Don't know when this happened, but my phone corrects my words automatically when I type using the physical keyboard. For instance, every time I type "lol" it auto-changes it to "AOL". I even went into the "Language & input" settings, and disabled the "auto-replace" setting under Physical Keyboard. Then rebooted the phone.
And it STILL autocorrects my typing! I dont mine it underlining misspelled words, but I certainly don't want it assuming what I type. That's the whole point of the physical keyboard. I want what I type.
Any suggestions here?

No, I didn't realize that the Andorid Keyboard settings affected the physical keyboard . It looks like it worked! Thanks!

Even am facing the same issue!!!
On ICS, I had an option wherein the Auto-Correct used to work for the Onscreen typing whereas it used to leave it on me what am typing when using the Physical Keypad.
Disabling the Auto Correct, as the screenshot shows, will disable to Auto-Correct for OnScreen typing too, which I don't want! Can't I control Auto-Correct for each of them separately like I could on ICS??

I thought that too, but I did the option as in the screenshot, and my on screen keyboard still shows suggestions, buts doesn't auto correct. Try it, and see if that is what you need.
For me, I hate auto correct. Im ok with suggestions, but dont auto change things for me, so this fix is exactly what I needed.
This is an easy fix. I had the same issue. There are two steps.
Go into settings, Language & Input and uncheck auto-correct. (I assume you already did this.)
Next, in the Language & Input menu, scroll to Android Keyboard (AOSP) and click the gear icon. Scroll down and there is and option to disable Auto replace. Uncheck that.
Disabling both of those fixed it for me.

Thanks for making this thread. I just upgraded my ROM and had the exact same problem. It sucks that it removes the autocorrect for touchscreen typing too. The fact that these are no longer separate makes me sad. Death of QWERTY. I'm going to cry when I have to get a touchscreen only phone

I agree! Why in the world would you have 'physical keyboard' broken out with its own settings and then not actually respect those separate settings?! And otherwise why would you NOT have separate settings/parameters for separate keyboards on the phone? Like the OP says, this is the POINT of a physical keyboard; I want you to type WHAT I type, not what you THINK I should type.
Anyway... thanks, guys, for the info here.

Samsung Keyboard problems.. PLEASE HELP!

Hi.. I'm using the Samsung Keyboard.. but all of a sudden, the symbols dissappeard. You know the ones that come up when you do a long press on a key? Also, when typing that little arrow to accept and add a word is also gone. Please help.
Did you flash a new rom? If so, look at Xposed Installer and search in modules for "Samsung Keyboard." Download the module and activate it under the Framework setting then restart the phone.
Hope that helps!

Worst comes to worse and your using a stock ROM, uninstall the updates then re-update it..clear the data for it as well.

Did you ever fix it? I'm having the same problem, the shortcuts just disappeared. I did everything cleared data/cache on the Samsung Keyboard, and I even did a factory data reset. I've never installed any roms. I noticed the problem when I installed an app from Xposed Installer called "SamsungKeyboardShortDelay", and since then the shortcuts are gone.

Galaxy Note 5- Any way To Disable Air Command?

Any way to disable Air Command?
So in a bunch of the art softwares for Android, you can use the S Pen's button and assign it to undo, or flip the canvas, or whatever you want. So I set it to undo, which is immensely useful. Problem is, every time I hit the button, the stupid Air Command menu comes up which I have to click out of. I have tried ending the service but it starts back up immediately, and since you can't root the Note 5 on Verizon AFAIK, I can't find a way to disable the service completely. On previous Notes, wasn't there a way to turn this off? I need to make it so that hitting the button on the S Pen does nothing. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Have you tried the General S pen settings?

I managed to turn off my air command and it is off I'm not sure if your carrier has anything to do with it. I am able to disable the S pen features air command ect but I like them so I enabled them once again

I only have two options: I can disable the persistence of the Air Command icon on the screen, and I can choose whether removing the S Pen triggers it, but there is no option to turn Air Command off.

Hello,
I'm having the same issue, I use a few art apps that utilize the S pen button to toggle undo or eraser... I was bummed that I couldn't find any setting to turn air command off.. how could it be, it was possible in previous note models and tablets.
anyone, is there a way to disable air command in Note 5?
You could install package disabled pro from the playstore. It allows you to disable any app you want, even system apps.

I use another Virtual Keyboard instead of Gboard
However, I accidentally disable Gboard
Now my Nokia 8 force me for "Password" (after restart). But no keyboard appear for input
What can I do Now? :crying::crying::crying:
In a similar situation I had to go into recovery and hard reset my phone. You will lose everything of course, but I don't know if there is another way.

You'll have to use a OTG cable and physical keyboard.
I did this once, and with another keyboard you can only use PIN or draw.

how to disable 'Contacts'/enable Pixel phone *including pop-up*?

I've installed the apk for the Google dialer (https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...292-bubble-t3708218/post74588791#post74588791) and would like to be able to use that on phone calls, including the pop-up that I used to get on my nexus 6p. Right now, when I make phone calls even from the Google dialer, it defaults to the Samsung Phone. I understand that I need to disable the Samsung Phone (whose app info points to *Contacts*). Is that true, if so how do i disable it? the disabled button is greyed out.

Guessing that you are not rooted, here's your options:
1) Package Disabler Pro: (or AdHell 3,Google &/or XDA Search for the how-to)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpremium&hl=en_US
2) Disable via USB Commands:
https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
The former is easy enough to re-enable the Samsung Dialer/Contacts,if necessary.
The latter (ADB Commands) requires a factory reset to bring it back.
I just tested on my Note 9,using Package Disabler Pro & the Google Phone/Contacts works just fine on its own.

Give this a read, seems there may a version that works on unrooted devices that has the floating bubble:
