Hi
I am on ironman costum rom.my bl+modem is BQG firmware.i want to flash alexega rom .the rom is base on bra2 firmware. I don't want to flash bl+modem of bra2. I afraid that is ver 3 .it's not allowed to flash twrp or costum rom.
My question is :can I flash bra2 costum rom without flash the bl+modem.
Thank you
Yes you can flash the rom without having to update bl & modem.... well unless the rom also includes them, most custom roms don't though.
And there's nothing wrong with 3BRA2 bl & modem, bl v3 was all a precaution that was later debunked. I'm on BRA2 bl & modem, absolutely no issues with TWRP & root. Now whether bl v3 has any affect on jail I don't know, I've never had the 7 day jail issue & don't really keep up with what's going on with it.

Install:
- CWM for stock rom
- Apk
- BassBoost
- Mobile Bravia Engine
- more some feature
I tested it and working with xperia arc 2.3.4 (.42) fw!
I suggest you changed the title something like "cmw recovery on locked bl and more". I think many want recovery with but hesitant to unlock bootloader. Thanks for posting.
works perfect on rooted stock arc locked bootloader
sounds wonderful. I shall try on mine too
Can I install ROM now from the dev section in the forum?
can confirm that this does not work on the Xperia acro IS11S
so does this allow a recovery menu for devices with locked bootloaders, does that mean we can flash custom firmware on these devices. if not what are the benefits of locked bootloaders having a recovery menu

Try it! lol
If we install CWM using this method, is there a way to remove it if we need to claim the phone on warranty or anything?
Also can more people confirm this definitely works with stock fw, locked bootloader

Are you sure that'll work? You still have a locked bootloader so custom ROMs probably still won't work. I think it more for backing up stock ROMs and installing mods etc.
ah ok i guessss your right....can we flash themes?
I have no idea. I'd like to know actually. Would make it a lot easier to test things that may cause a boot loop and be able to just flash back to stock without a full reset.

You can't upload the CM7 because CM7 need another Kernel. CM7 don't working with the stock kernel! If you make change kernel you need the unlocked bootloader phone.
I think that this works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1325640
you are right,
Now we have to wait for developers to make some good rom whit stock kernel to, i'll love some miui rom

Yes, but this is just a rom in ZIP file, just flash with CWM over the original stock rom. Test it if you have time!?
How about adding a (second) post / sticky in this Topic, with Roms, Tweaks etc. that work by CWM flashing... (locked bootloaders)
Kernels are just needed for recovery? Or they're needed for ROM? I checked all the posts but I am confused, i am new to these stuffs.
I am about to flash SlimKat right now but I don't know what to do? Flashing rom is very easy but the previous part about kernel stuff mad me confused
I have unlocked bootloader and XDualRecovery. Can I flash this rom with these stuffs?
for rom.
Stock kernel wont boot custom rom as i know.

The answer is in your question....
Custom kernels require unlocked bootloader
understand!
thanks
i thought it was only for custom ROM
I somewhat knew this from a long time ago but I've forgotten. Its been a while since I got a new phone
also as I remember, they force u to unlock bootloader thru SONY so that warranty cant be claimed, mainly afraid of people who OC CPU and GPU which can damage the device (which is reliant on custom kernel)
1. hi all i wanted to ask for ur guidance/procedure on how to recover from bootloop if recoveries aren't functional after u've flashed a custom ROM.
2. what will happen if we flash kernel to LOCKED BL?
plz exclude flashing the stock FTF file, i need other options aside from reflashing.. i knew it already.

1. You are sure you did it this way as said under point 2?
2. It depends.
As far as I know - most base of all base rules is to stick to proper kernel.
Locked BL requires kernel for locked bootloaders.
All parts of ROM has to be consistent together. system, boot, kernel ...
Either for locked or for unlocked BL. Mixing stock and custom ROM parts is very unhealthy.
I think you need to know if the device enters in flashmode, next would be flash a new stock rom ftf with flashtool.
If the steps are OK you should have your device fixed, and have the bad xperience mixing lb ub Kerns could be....
Hope 2 have helpd you

That's never happened to me before. Did you flash an incorrect model bootloader?
What model Note 8 do you have & exactly what files did you flash? I'm confused by your post, did you get it working or did you still need help to get it working?
And you should change the thread title. TWRP has nothing to do with your sensors not working.

What bootloader were you on before? Were you on Nougat or Oreo before flashing Weta? What version Weta rom did you flash & did you flash Weta bootloader & modem update?
I've been using Weta rom for a long time & never had this issue so I still think it's a bootloader issue or a coincidence that your phone's hardware failed.

Since you won't say what Weta version you flashed & you didn't flash Weta bootloader update, I'm assuming you flashed Oreo version of Weta as Weta rom itself doesn't include bootloader & modem.
Since you won't give more details on what you flashed exactly I don't have a clue on what you should do or if it is a bootloader issue. Maybe kernel related I don't know.
So at this point all I can suggest is that if you are on BRA8 now, flash entire BRA8 or BRB2 firmware in Odin, BL, CP, AP, & CSC. Or at the least flash BL & CP.

Not if you flash only BL & CP. But those won't flash kernel. If you still have the issue, trying flashing a custom kernel if you don't want to loose TWRP & reinstall.
First off, I feel there would be many more reports of this with either TWRP or Weta Mod if the issue lay there with either of them.
I have used both in the past and have always worked fine for me.
Did you follow the flashing instructions letter by letter?
Have you got the latest TWRP that works with Oreo?
Which I believe you need to flash the older version before flashing the newer TWRP via TWRP with the iso.image?
I would just flash the full stock image via Odin like others have suggested. If the phone then works fine, as it should after this, try again but just take your time doing it.
Hi, I had a problem where I flashed a custom ROM and lost my IMEI / baseband - none of the SIMs worked.
I fixed it by flashing the Devbase ROM from this forum. The only issue is, whenever I flash any other ROM, I lose my IMEI / Baseband, including the stock from SamMobile.
As the battery is so awful on One UI V1 I'd love to be able to go back to stock so I can get the pending One UI update.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Jamie

because uve not updated your baseband(modem) and or bootloader are too old or too new compared to the rom you are on. but usualy its too old.
often people flash roms left and right and never ever think about updating BL and CP. they eventually will need to get those updated as well, not just the rom. its the users responsibility to manually flash the aforementioned files with Odin.
so all in all flash november 2019 firmware.( bl.md5 and cp.md5) you wint loose data by flashing those. nor do you need to reroot/twrp.

when you flash roms, have you made a habit to wipe before?
try to go to wipe menu and do factory wipe then flash a rom.
