Hi I use SwiftKey but of late the words I type on certain websites and forums come out different. For example on Google reviews earlier I hit the space bar and got an A! What gives?
i do know you can train and force certain words to auto correct but having this behaviour change depending on what web site you are on dosent make sense.
i call user issue more than an acctual phone issue.
wipe or change keyboard app settings.
try on stock . maybe also post issue on swift support site
For the past few weeks, in Disqus textpane instances, when I type relatively quickly, instead of a space I get the first letter if the previous word, as in 'thetfirstfletterlofthetpreviouspword. '.
(I have auto-correct/capitalise off.)

I was going to say I agree about the autocorrect, being bad but I did some digging and discovered you have numerous options for improving it. Mine had been set to samsung multi-language autocorrect although I was using Gboard! I changed it to English only and autocorrect by Google and - OMG it actually works flawlessly now!

What is "&"? It is on my keyboard and I see it on websites, mainly message boards. Im sure its a most basic item but i just don't know.
~ Transmitted via Motorola Droid 2.1 ~
Where do you see it on your keyboard? I've never seen "&" per se but I have seen other things like it.
It is HTML code. Look here for others. A quick look on google indicates to me that "&" is interchangeable with "&" and is used to make sure "&" isn't considered a special character.
I know what you're referring to. I installed the Droid X Multi Touch Keyboard last night and when i got to the numbers/punctuation page of it there is a" &" on the key where just the "&" is suppose to be.
No idea why but was also wondering the same thing

My goodness, has anyone used this yet? This is the most impressive keyboard I've ever experienced. After tinkering around with the settings and allowing it to "learn" my typing style, I have never made a typo, and I type fast.
Anyone who remembers me from the past will know I'm very critical of the Android stock keyboard (and of alternative keyboards too, including Swiftkey) and that the typing experience has been a real thorn to my Android experience.
All that is gone. Anyone else using Swiftkey X? The improvements are astronomical.
Swiftkey X is outstanding, been using it since it was free.

Words cannot describe how amazing this keyboard is. I downloaded the trial version today and will most definitely buy the full version.
The first thing I do with keyboards is type like a madman just to see how many mistakes I would make and to my huge surprise, Swiftkey made no mistakes whatsoever.
The only downside is the lack of themes, but then again, I'm using the free trial version so I hope the full version will have more to choose from.
Yea I definitely love SwiftKey, I too have been using it for a long time.
If anyone is interested here are some themes for it. Idk if they work on the most recent update but they work on the 2.0.5.153 version

The only quibble I have seen so far with Swift Key X is that... for whatever reason, it seems to inadvertently register the space bar twice sometimes, resulting in unwanted periods.
So an example sentence would look something like this: "Hey John how's it. Going?" When it should look like "Hey John how's it going?"
Is this happening to anyone else using the keyboard? I have my space bar settings as Spacebar Will Always Complete Word, and I have the Quick "." turned on.
Lol I remember you and your constant keyboard woes. I tried SwiftKey a few weeks ago but had a lot of issues including the double space thing. But after reading your rave reviews I just tried it again. God DAMN its massively better. I'm going to switch back to it full time now. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey Kenvan, I remember you too. Long time.
Tell me if you experience inadvertent periods in the middle of sentences when you type fast on Swiftkey Beta X. -_-'

Of course we remember
I could have sworn you said you tried swiftkey back then too, but I guess not this latest version. Anyway, I'm glad you've found a acceptable keyboard solution.
yup swiftkey is really the best thing ever. the only thing still missing is the ability to learn from whatsapp typing patterns, but i think they also seem to have the best word correction, so prediction is less of an issue.

Yup I get that too, plus a lot of accidental caps. I think its just a learning curve issue since I've been using the stock android one for so long my fingers keep hitting places they shouldn't.

Strange. After I changed the Typing Style setting to "Precise" instead of "Rapid" which I thought would serve my faster typing style best, the inadvertent periods in the middle of sentences have occurred less. Though it's still popping up. It's becoming quite problematic. I'm getting sentences that look like this: "Hey I'm. On my. Way. To. You now." I kid you not, it gets that bad sometimes.
=T
Ya its rather frustrating. Also, I'm rather unimpressed by the selection of skins. I have a blue theme on my phone that doesn't really match the bright neon blue nor does it fit with the neon green and I don't like how plain the HTC IME skin is...

Yeah, agreed. The lack of skins is disappointing. Frankly, all three skins are hideous. I'm using the classic white one for now.
Anyway, I've started a thread over at the Swiftkey Beta X forums: http://vip.swiftkey.net/index.php?/forum/88-discussion-phone-x/
You can't miss it. It's titled "Inadvertent Periods in Middle of Sentences." Chime in if any of y'all are experiencing this odd glitch too.
It's becoming more and more common. Like every other sentence will have inadvertent periods. Frustrating, and sad after I finally found a keyboard that could keep up with my thumbing speed. :[
The only solution now is to turn off Quick "." but that is not ideal. Hitting the period button to add a period at the end of sentences is awfully cumbersome. CORRECTION: It seems even after turning off Quick "." the inadvertent periods still happen. It's incredibly baffling!
So one person suggested that I'm hitting the period button when typing fast instead of the spacebar. This is may be the culprit! >__<
However, I'm still experiencing some odd double letter glitches, and it seems people over at the Swiftkey Beta X forum are as well. It's already a reported bug. This double-letter glitch seems to really plague a lot of Android keyboards; I wonder why. =T
Haha that's what I was implying but I suppose I should have been more clear. It's an adjustment to such a short space bar.

How does GetJar work? How come they can give out apps for free? What's the catch?
I installed the best keyboard in my view - A.I.Type Plus keyboard. It actually mimics the WP7 UI kb almost exactly and is the closest I found in precision and ease. It is quite accurate and those of you who used WP7 and the keyboard that came with it know what I am talking about. It even clicks the same.
Available from the Market and I think there is a free version available, as well as paid one. I have dual Mango and Android and always felt WP7 had a much better keyboard, even with all sorts of options available for Android - tried them all, loving the A.I.Type.

try it ! !!
My personal fave is Thumb Keyboard as it allows you to have the cursor arrows at bottom like on the HTC keyboard. It also has a good prediction engine/auto-complete and skinable.
Will check your recommendation out aswell though, thanks hun
I use Slide-It,which works accurate and fast!
Costs a couple of euros, but really worth it!
Flext9 is the best one for me.
See you

Swiftkey X is my choice.
With the rapid typing setting and its prediction software, often I don't even have to hit the first letter of the next word. Especially in repetitive messages like typical text messages or email replies. The more you type, the more it can learn from you.
Had heard great reviews of it in the past, and one day a month or two ago it was the free app of the day over at Amazon. Even before it was free that day, I was on the verge of purchasing it.
Also for our worldly friends, it supports a ton of languages.
I tried SWYPE, SwiftkeyX, HTC, Slide-It, Better Keyboard, WP7 no droid etc - had a few over the past few months. I just really enjoy the one that comes with WP7, so was looking for the closest match and A.I.type is the best adaptation in my view, it has copy/paste and all sorts of other cool options. SWYPE would be my second best, probably because I got so used to it.
i've always prefered the sense keypads over every other eon but since moving to amioui based rom and go launcher, i have given go keybaord a a go and i like it alot
As for me GoKeybords is best for now.
SmartKeyboard rocks!!!! gestures, one click language change, a lot of skins
I tried SwiftkeyX and I'm not sure why I didn't like it. Somehow typing felt more difficult and I had to concentrate much more then with the HTC-Keyboard. So I went back to HTC...
I used to use smart keyboard pro (3 months), but then I tested the new Swype beta. Haven't changed my keyboard since, it works great

I was talking to someone recently and they had mentioned a KB that would actually predict phrases and sentences that you would say, similar to the old school Nokia phones where certain button combinations would type out full sentences in no time. Does this sound like anything someone may be familiar with?

So a few things if you don't mind, some of you may have been in a similar situation before moving from iOS to the android camp yourselves.
1) charging.
I have multiple lightning cables around the house connected to plugs (not so important) but I have various ones I bought specially from Anker and wouldn't want them going to waste so was wondering if there is a usb c adapter that the lightning cable plugs into and makes it usb c.
2) drafts app.
Much like times like now I write out notes and forum posts in an app called drafts and with one click of a button I can quickly output the writing to clipboard or even directly to a note in an app. This proves extremely useful when drafting posts for ready much like today!
https://getdrafts.com/
Basically looking for an android alternative. I'm a basic user of this app and I'm pretty certain I don't use it to its full potential.
3) Reddit.
I'm using an app called Apollo which is a beautiful app on iOS only. What is most people's most loved Reddit client?
4) Twitter.
Bit of a sore subject when I was on android with my S6 and went with tweetings back then. I'm spoilt with Tweetbot nowadays but have you a favourite twitter client that comes close to Tweetbot? I realise 3rd party apps are rather limited these days of course thanks to Twitter themselves.
5) Keyboard.
I used to stick with Samsung but briefly used gboard. iOS version is toilet but android was pretty slick. Is that still the case? On my S2 back in the day I went through a swipe phase using various swipe capable keyboards but not sure if I'd take to those again!
6) Find my device.
I'm sure I know the answer to this but on occasion it's useful to track my iPad or if my wife leaves her phone at someone's house we can confirm it but is the web browser the only way I'll be able to track iOS devices?
I'm sure I've forgotten something but your input is going to be helpful before I make the right decision and come over to an awesome phone!

1. Check Amazon. I found a couple Lightning to USB C adapters for less than $10. But you need to read reviews and make sure they're good quality. USB C is a little more finicky than microUSB. You don't want a company that cut corners.
2. I do the same. I usually use either Google Keep Notes, or Samsung Notes. Google Keep Notes syncs across all Android devices. Samsung Notes, as far as I know, is only available on Samsung devices, but will sync across those devices as well.
3. I'm not much of a Reddit guy. I usually just use their mobile website, but they have their own app on the Play Store as well.
4. I despise Twitter.
5. The Samsung Keyboard is better than it used to be, but I still prefer GBoard. And you can either type or swipe on either one, so best of both worlds.
6. There's a Find My Device app for the phone to track other phones.
5) Since this is on the Note 9 section: If your handwriting skills are semi-decent or better, do also try the handwriting keyboard options with S-pen. I'm currently using Google's handwriting variant (haven't had time to try different solutions yet), and oh boy, do I love that handwriting. I do occasionally switch to normal keyboards, depending on how complex stuff I need to input, but that is quick and easy switch back and forth. Note: I haven't written much with tiny mobile keyboards so I'm "s k<-l o q<-w" with those, but my handwriting is quite clear (even if I say so myself), so... YMMV. Maybe you have chance to try it at some shop?

I always forget about the handwriting. It does a great job even if your handwriting isn't so clear!
I just find typing or swiping faster for me!
3) I just use the Reddit app and it works great for me.
5) SwiftKey Keyboard is pretty much the gold standard. GBoard is fine but nothing has ever gotten me off SwiftKey for long. Better predictions, better features and customization... Unparalleled in both swiping AND hunt/peck.

Is it just me? Or is the galaxy s10 keyboard AIDS? The swype feature mistakes obvious words like "and" and "the" for non-words constantly. I just tried to swype the word "mind" and it kept inputing "mim cd" What the hell is a mim CD? Also the voice to text seems like it's from 1995. Sometimes, what I say (and I think I articulate and enunciate pretty well) and what shows up on the screen seem like to different conversations are taking place. I literally want to throw this thing in a lake sometimes...What are you guys out there using as a replacement keyboard. I'm freaking done with this piece of trash.
Samsung keyboard ain't that bad, but you can always try gboard or swiftkey.
They both use Google voice recognition so it should be better than Bixby voice
Been using Gboard from my last two phones & this one as well. Works pretty good. I don't use voice input but swipe typing is quite accurate.
