I'm trying to get ADB drivers and the only way to get it is through hisuite but windows defender says it's a virus. Is this true? I downloaded it from their official site
Windows Defender, while it has massively improved detection rate of malware it comes at the expense of false positives. Kaspersky and Bitdefender say HiSuite is clean. You can always upload to virustotal if you're unsure about legitimacy of files.

I keep having to log into xda. For some reason it won't keep me logged in. I am using Firefox 2.0.0.3. I have it set to accept cookies. Anyone else having this problem and is there a fix? I have searched this forum and Googled to no avail.
Hmm, I am using Firefox 2.0.0.3 too and didn't have to log in since the first time I switched over from IE.
Any chance you have some anti spyware app running that keeps cleaning up your cookies?
Any chance this is OS related?
I am running XP pro SP2, but I haven't update it in at least 6 month.
Mentioned patching a security hole but nothing else that I saw. Just finished installing, version shows 7.0.7392.0
Fix for fraudulent third-party digital certificates. This update includes a critical fix to an industry-wide issue with nine untrusted digital certificates that were issued by one root certificate authority. These third-party digital certificates are used to access popular websites and email portals. Although this is not a Microsoft security vulnerability, these untrusted certificates may be used to spoof content, perform phishing attacks, or perform man-in-the-middle attacks against all web browser users. This update moves the affected certificates to the "Untrusted Publishers" certificate store on Windows Phone, which helps ensure that these fraudulent certificates are not inadvertently used.

That's all it's supposed to be and is. Just got it too. Glad I did as I needed a fresher backup
According to Walsh it also has other fixes though... I wouldn't doubt Microsoft just threw something in there, after all, they didn't mention a single bug fix in NoDo, though obviously there were some.
Issues with 7392 and phone battery life
I'm reading about some users in UK facing horrible battery life after 7392 update... not sure i want to update my phone.
People with stock TMo HD7, anything to report?
Oh and here is the link to the thread:

UPDATE:
Couldn't wait any more and updated it just now... will post back the results tomorrow.
my phone is updating as i type. back up is taking long to finish. probably because i have lots of files in it.
and its eating approximately 3gb of my disc space
is it safe if i cut and save the back up to a disc of a thumb drive?will it make a difference to paste back the files to its directory given that i need to restore my phone to its previous version?
thanks
updating mine now...will post results...

Can someone just explain to me once I have this 7392.0 update installed do I need to update the firmware and radio and boot loader do these change with the zune software update or do I need to manually update them by flashing with a ruu installer, what's the difference between zune updates and the flashing the latest tmobile rom are they the same thing? Does anyone have a link to the latest tmobile us rom for htc hd7.
I have run into a situation where several scripts and/or applications all presume /system partition being writeable while one of them remounts it read-only and others start complaining about it. Not a big deal to remount it again, but made me think why does it need to be read-only in the first place? Is it only for protection? Protection against who? Me? In case I accidentally do something irreversible there? I don't think so. Against malicious applications I might have downloaded from the Market? Probably so. Does anyone know a better reason for needing it to be definitely read-only?
Bump.
I guess it's security protection, because files written to it may cause problems.
It's just my opinion, without proper knowledge about it..
Yeah, it's security.
It's like having Windows without UAC and anti-virus and every application runs as administrator.

Me, me and me These annoying UAC prompts are first thing to be turned off after install, anti-virus is not set to real-time scanning although I run it when I feel anything suspicious happening, and administrator account is the only account I use However, in firewalls I believe. A friend of mine once said that a computer that attracts all these viral, fungal and such sort of things is a *****. Call me stupid if you wish but I have never gotten into any trouble so far.
But I promise to be careful, at least until Android/Linux world is not an uncharted territory for me any more. Thank you all for your inputs!
I second that.
I've never used AV or UAC.
I believe the best anti-virus is: common sense.
I have just got a new PC windows 7 64 bit
Now i got kies to work no problems until it said there was a update i set it off it then came back with a error message as it was trying to connect to samsung
I have Kies as a exception on my firewall i have the same version as what was on my old PC which did the update for me but i want to get the new Pc working any thoughts
Kies struggles with many non-XP rigs. (And that's not even perfect)
If you can, learn the basics of using Odin. You get firmwares much faster, and its more computer/phone friendly.
Kies has issues with so many different setups. You can have up to date drivers with the firewall off, and it still just sits there.
The bottom line, it's not you...

Hi everyone,
so I noticed that on my Mac, after I switch to 'Transfer Files' usb mode, a HiSuite CD image is mounted on my system.
It's very annoying and I would like to stop the phone form doing that.
I have been reading around a bit and it seems the only way to efficiently prevent this behavior is to remove:
/data/hw_init/version/region_comm/oversea/cdrom/autoplay.iso
However, it seems, that I can only do this with root, since I always get a "Permission denied" when trying to remove it through adb.
Is there another way of just killing this without rooting the phone?
Thanks
Launch hisuite on MAC and then settings and disable launch when phone connected. It works on Windows but you could check on MAC as well. Hope it works.
