I bought an amazon fire 7 2017, and its not letting me get past the initial setup page and I found out that means its blacklisted. amazon are unsympathetic to my situation and the police are likewise. So, trying to make lemons in to lemonade, is there any way to load a rom and recovery using only adb on the original amazon fire recovery? Help me XDA developers, you're my only hope.

You could try reloading FireOS 5.6.0.1 (using a lower build risks a hard brick) via the stock sideload menu. Doubt it will help. Otherwise she's a soft brick.

On whose list is it "blacklisted?" There's no cellular modem in this device, so it can't be IMEI blacklisted. And what do you mean you can't get past the "initial setup page?" Are you talking about the Wifi connection screen? If so, try connecting to an access point that you know will fail (a password protected access point that you don't know the password to or one of yours with an incorrect password, for example) and then cancel when it's trying to connect. It should then give you the option to skip this process.
Can you load a rom? No. But if you can manage to get into settings and enable developer options/ADB, you can install the play store/play services and use it as a normal android tablet. This is assuming of course that it has been blacklisted by Amazon and not Google.

it's not IMEI blacklist, its amazon services blacklist, it has also been mentioned HERE for different amazon tablet model, I guess its SN related rather than IMEI.

Hi Guys,
I bought my second Nexus 7 towards the end of November, and lost it a week later.
Id installed several apps (inc Cerberus) but not got round to configuring them (inc Cerberus).
Immediately after losing it, I changed my gmail email password, so they didnt have access.
That tablet is still listed in Google play => Settings => My Devices, and the Carrier Last Used tab has todays date.
Does that mean that its been updated?
If so, how is it still able to access my account if I've changed my password?
Are there any security issues I should be aware of?
Thanks
If you know you won't be able to recover the lost tablet. Contact Google about the lost nexus 7. If anything they should be able to block the device from accessing Google play.

I contacted Google about disabling a stolen Nexus 7 over a week ago, a no response from them whatsoever, doesn't fit in with their script.
Hi Don. Sorry to hear about your lost tablet. Although we can't block the device, I would recommend contacting Asus customer support in your region to report the tablet stolen. Doing so will prevent whoever is using it to from submitting troubleshooting tickets and sending it in for repairs. I believe each region keeps a database of stolen items, so definitely let yours know.

Try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb&hl=en. Since you have already changed your password you may need to change it back for the tabled to properly receiver the pushed app. In theory if it installs it should give you the IP address of the theif who is using the device. Good luck
Sorry ignore this post. This only works on gingerbread devices :-\ sorry man.
Tapped out from my sexy nexus 7
Its pretty hopeless but maybe will be able to help me.
I think I tried to unlock my phone with a fingerprint with a finger that wasn't registered. Although I think it was. And the phone just cannpt be unlocked using any of the 3 fingers I was regestered with. It immediately going to the PIN screen, which I don't think I have. It gives me the option to reset with google account, but I cannot do it because I live in China and the VPN is off. Of course I cannot turn it on because I can't go into my phone.
Tried with Android device manager, didn't have my samsung account sync.
Is there any way I could reset it in other way?
If not, If I do factory reset will it erase all the previous settings and just give me to Re-setup my phone?
Thank you all...:crying:

That's what all shoplifters say. Your only option is samsung. Gotta show them proof of purchase.

I understand what you mean. But If I was a shoplifter I probably would not need to recover my data or photos. Ill just directly do factory reset.
Samsung here In china is useless. Any way I did already factory reset, Now have differen't problems.
Im very pissed at Samsung that has this insane bug that can just make the phone useless, i've used it with no problems for a week or so, all of the sudden, just lock my out , and Fuking China doesn't have google to help me recover..

Why don't you have your password? You have to type it in twice whenever you set finger prints for your lockscreen
Can't you just reset your google account pw on your pc, then unlock your phone with your google account?
After I got out of a long hot bath, i tried to unlock with my thumb print numerous times unsuccessfully, had to unlock by backup pin, which I had forgotten...thought i was outta luck, but luckily I was able to unlock via my google acct.
Honestly though...i tend to agree with Ambervals6...that's what shoplifters say lol

Actually I don't remember that I had the option to set the PIN. But I always do the same one. Now using MX4 Pro, and it works great, Probably my unit had a huge bug that waited to be exploited..
About google, I've explained, If I was not in China I could have unlocked, but my astrill VPN was not running, and I didn't setup samsung account which apperantly was stupid.
I've already bought the "package disabler" from playstore and disabled all the bloat including this..
Any way, i've got very unlucky, today will bring it to samsung service center.
You can install custom recovery I forgot where it is but you can use adb in the recovery to delete fingerprint and passw files and then any password you type will unlock the phone

Many international hotels have internet access which bypasses the Great Firewall. If you were to go there you wouldn't need a VPN....
Unable to access Note 5
Similar issue; unable to access my Note 5 with biometrics, password or Google account (even after resetting Google password). Absolutely ridiculous! I do, on some attempts, see a message that pops up stating, "bootstrap failed" but unsure if that's related to the issue.
I need help to access my phone asap WITHOUT resetting it!!!

To install a custom recovery, the phone doesn't need to be rooted.

Lol
You can still fix your device with this issue.
Bought a Moto X off of craigslist before I was aware of the 5.1 update that included FRP. Since I didn't know about it and the phone boots to the welcome screen like its ready to rock and roll I thought it was all good. Got it home (had to order a nano sim from ST) and the phone kept going back to the credentials page. Later found out its because of the FRP.
Now I don't steal, buy or sell stolen phones so the FRP is a good thing. What's got me pissed is that Google should have the phone return to a bright red screen that says Locked! not to the same welcome screen and setup a normal user sees. Even someone being legit selling a phone, if they were unaware they needed to remove accts and just did a hard reset unaware the next person that bought itwould need the credentials. Of course the seller, at&t and Moto no help. The phone is clean so far as I and At&t can tell.
The phone sat on my desk for 3mos collecting dust. Yesterday I got to playing with it and I was finally able to get past the Lockout (where it keeps going to the Just a Sec page this phone has been reset.....). If you search for settings on the phone it will allow you to get to the android settings to make changes, set developer mode etc..
At the setting I added a User and I can now use the phone, make calls, text, web, youtube etc work.. Google play causes an error msg (bacsically any app that requires a google act).
This is on an XT1097 AT&T so the bootloader is locked. But has anyone done this and would being in developer mode help me remove that defunct account so I can add mine?
If you can get into settings during setup, instead of creating a new user, have you tried initiating a factory reset from within settings?

No that won't help because to remove the account it asks for the password.

Tried but the reset phone data button is greyed out. It also shows no accounts listed. Even if try to add my google act on my created user it errors. I'm replying from the phone now. Not everything works.

There is no way to fix it yourself. You got lucky and found a bug that partially lets you in. But there is no true solution to this other than the previous owner logging in and removing his account.

You're probably right but I'm going to keep plugging away at it. A few things I'm going to try. Been using the phone as normal.
Just a follow-up. The phone has now been factory reset and FRP removed.
Enter these commands in the adb tools cmd line:
Used scripts:
adb devices
adb shell netcfg
adb shell content insert --uri content://settings/secure --bind name:s:user_setup_complete --bind value:s:1
that will remove the disable flag on the factory reset button and allow another factory reset.
Props to youtube.com/watch?v=boa3uaarbuE for finishing it up.

**I HAVE PROOF OF LEGAL OWNERSHIP** My girlfriend bought her 16 year old son a Note5 on the T-Mobile network. Apparently he had dirty fingers when attempting to unlock his phone so he was locked out. I performed a hard reset to start over. The big problem is he doesnt remember ANY passwords, security questions, ect. to access his google account. Is there anything that can be done besides using the phone as a nice paperweight?
Open your Google account from pc go to settings then you'll see paired devices then remove the devices from list
It's happened to me with my s6.

I would continue trying to guess the password. This happened to me but I remembered my Google account so it wasn't too bad. Did he setup a recovery email for that Gmail account?
You can send the device away to a JTAG flashing service, to reinstall the OS.
If you want you can root the phone then wipe the data and it will be like a new phone

Possibly a random one...
I water damaged my first Pixel 5 and managed to sell it on eBay. Transaction was fine, money received and now in my bank account.
Prior to selling, I erased the device via Find my Phone and removed the device from my Google account - there is now zero trace of it anywhere (that I can see) within my Google.
The person who purchased the Pixel has now repaired it but says, when they turn it on, it asks for the _device_ PIN... is it safe to share it with them?
I cannot think of anything they could do with the PIN other than turn the Pixel fully on... they cannot access my Google account nor any personal data as that has been erased...
I may be overthinking.. thoughts?
Cheers!

Tell him to boot into recovery and do a factory reset. That will also delete your password and there is no risk for you, that some data of yours is still on the phone.
