Hi,
I noticed on the default wallpaper for the always on display, you have two variants of the background. One is completely black except for the stars at the top, and the other has a grey gradient in the same place. When the AoD activates, the gradients turns off after a minute or so, leaving only the stars. This is all fine and dandy, but when charging the phone the gradient comes on and *stays* on, even when charging is done (at least when wireless charging).
This concerns me because if the phone sits on the dock all day, then I fear that grey gradient is going to be responsible for burn-in eventually because it's not moving like everything else on the AoD does every minute or so.
Is this common behaviour? Thinking about just turning Infinity wallpapers off if they're going to be dumb like that, as I'm at home a lot and so the phone will sit on the charging dock a bunch, and I don't want the risk of burn in from that.
Well, it has been said a lot, AOD moves, and the parts that appear static, switch pixels on and off, now, it is not good to have the phone charging all the time! It will degrade your battery

I was under the belief that charging was a lot smarter these days and trickled once fully charged, explicitly to stop the degradation of the battery, which means it should be fine. Since you can't exactly turn the wireless charger on and off easily it would defeat the purpose of it having a docking stand, no?
My issue is the gradient is quite bright and doesn't appear to move. Maybe it flickers but considering the uneven brightness I just cannot see how this is good for the screen in the long run when the other 75% of it is completely black except for the clock elements which do move.
Yes, the original samsung chargers are designed to stop sending power once 100% is attained, but this is the first bad thing, charging to 100% puts some stress to the batt, the second one is, when charge reaches 100%, stops charging, as a little time passes and charge level drops, the charging ressumes, and so on, until you disconnect the phone, the optimal charge range is between 20-80 %, okay, that when being extra careful about batt helth, but search about leaving the phone connected for very long periods of time, you will find in detail what I try to say
My research doesn't seem to share your conclusions. Have you got verifiable sources on that?
Take a look at this:

just one, there are others out there

Something I noticed during a holiday in Spain: when the device gets too hot, the battery stops charging. Navigation software (at least IGO8) will still show a charging battery symbol, but the flashing LED circle is gone and the battery level indeed decreases. Only after some cooling (air conditioning vents), the flashing LED's come back and the device starts charging again. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to see the flashing LED's in bright sunlight.
This is not a big problem, but something to keep in mind when using the Diamond for navigation on hot days.
allso you should know that when you charge the battery when hot it will reduce the battery cyrcles.
you should allways try to cool the battery during charge
they all do the same
my trinity does that too (and the charging red led flashes)
First off, I tried searching and just got results from all over, so hope this hasn't been asked.
With the addition to android the DayDreaming settings, I love it. When I'm at work, or at my desk, it's just nice to have that clock there for me as 99% of the time I don't see the clock on the computer. Now I've discovered, that my phone can use my PC's connection, yay!
How does this affect my battery? The screen is always on, the battery is always charging. Seems to me that the battery on the device would not like this, but that is not my area of knowledge.
Thanks
P.S. anyone got a really good clock / calendar daydreaming app?
I wouldn't want my screen to stay on for that long, to be honest with you, regardless of whether or not the device is connected to a power source. I remember that with Galaxy devices, the screen colors end up fading and there have even been cases of sort of like screen burns for staying on too long. lol
It shouldn't have a burn in issue, it's always moving.
My current daydream app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.mpelant.deskclock&hl=en
Loses battery %
I have tried to use the Daydream on my Nexus 4 and I don't like it. It will not charge efficiently, in fact I maybe losing %! I even have my N4 plugged into the N10 battery pack and I DO NOT get a quicker charge to the battery while daydream is on. I will update this in 2 hours and give real results. I will have daydream on while charging with my N10 battery pack directly plugged into wall outlet. My phone as of 12:50pm EST is at 73% with only the Clock on as a daydream. Update at 3PM with results.
Update: 2 hours of charging and only 9% increase of battery life. So using daydream is detrimental to a fast charge. Remember I was also using a higher output charger (Nexus 10 stock charger) than the stock charger that came with the Nexus 4.
I haven't fully tested the charge %:hours but when I use it, I have the brightness set super low and that seems to help it get an ok charge. It's def not super fast but not really worried about charge time.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
i hate this daydreaming app. I have a HTC M8. Overheating my phone, my battery barely gets charged (1% every 15 minutes). Really sucks!! I dont recommend this piece of crAPP to anyone
My galaxy s4 has a daydream option in the settings, it doesn't seem to affect charging and it hasn't burned anything into my screen, I just recommend using that. I think it's in the display options.
I have a QI wireless charger in the car - if I dock my Mi 9 it charges fine, but then when it gets to 100% it turns the screen on.
I think it then stops charging, and then a small amount of battery must be lost, then it charges up again - gets to 100% and then the screen turns on...
And repeat!
So once the phone is at 100% its turning the screen on and off every minute or so, very frustrating when driving.
Is there a way to suppress this anyone can suggest?
Thanks,
Bill.

Unfortunately I've no solution for you, but indeed this sounds a frustrating issue! Furthermore, when i have my phone on the following wireless charging stand at night time....
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07KG5HDFX?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_pd_title
...i don't face this issue. As in, I have it charging throughout the night and I haven't noticed it turn on and off when reaching 100% and the repitition you have mentioned.
My only suggestion is to perhaps try another wireless charger, though this may be slightly over kill as perhaps the same thing might happen with that one. Presumably the charger (or phone?!) is stopping charging at 100% then dropping to 99% and resuming charging etc. Which charger do you have out of curiosity?
I don't believe there are any settings currently that can help you. There is a setting in the Developer Options, but the opposite "keep screen on whilst charging". Therefore whilst this setting is not what you need, reporting this feedback to Xiaomi could result in a new setting to "disable screen on when 100% charging complete" could be implemented.
Do you intend on unlocking your bootloader/rooting etc? As you could ask for such a setting to potentially be implemented into the Xiaomi EU rom or other custom modified rom. Alternatively, when (hopefully) we start to get roms like AOSP etc with lots of features. Lastly, perhaps the best option for you would be to use something like Tasker (rule based automated task app, Google it if unfamiliar), if you do intend to root, as I believe you could use a rule such as "when charging = screen off", which may work.
I got that idea from here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/9wg8k5/is_there_a_way_to_have_the_screen_off_while/
Same issue here, but on wire. Screen turns on, showing the charging animation, then goes off for a while, then turns on again. Frustrating.
Update: I figured out that the phone 'doesn't like' some chargers as I use many. I have an older 5V 1A Huawei charger and the behaves like above, however, with other chargers it works fine. Previous phones work fine with this chargers too.
I know this phone is old and a new one has been ordered, but I just want to get some pictures off of it before it becomes trash. I can only get it to turn on to the logo screen and then it goes off. It won't charge, but will show the led from time to time blinking red and the battery icon on the screen and then it disappears. I can get to the bootloader screen, but it's locked so I can't do anything. Any suggestions/help? Please?!

It's not clear to me exactly what your issue is (don't have 1+) but does sound like charging issue, might just be usb connector (damaged/dirty) or more problematicly the battery or battery charging circuitry. A usb connector with debris in should be easier fix.
If you have some electrical knowledge (or take to repair shop & they can do it) you should be able to overcome phone not charging by opening phone up to either charge battery via accessing back of usb connector/pcb/pwb or connect another battery. (Be careful playing with electricity & charges )
Note: if the battery has been run down too far by you keep turning it on then the battery will not charge normally again as it needs some residual charge in it to become charged (ie when your phone shows zero charge really the battery retains a few % otherwise it's impossible to recharge, though a special charger can supply a high charge initially to bring them back to life sometimes, but you probably need a battery specialist for that, so much easier to swap battery)
if it's soft brick then that is a whole different story.
I'm not electrically inclined, so I'll likely take it to a local shop. Thanks for your response.
Plugged the phone in to charge, fast charging indicator came on. After about 15 minutes, the phone shut off and never came back. The phone did feel much warmer than usual. No charging indicator, no sounds/vibration https://omegle.onl/ vshare. Ive tried multiple chargers, let it "charge" overnight. Nothing.
Just a dead blank screen. I saw someone siggested a wireless charging pad or trying a usbC to Hdmi adapter but ihavent had a chance to.
Any suggestions? Im going to end up throwing it up on ebay if i cant get it going.
Possible battery failure. Any swelling is a failure.
Get it looked at before you give it up. Not acceptable performance for a flagship unless it was abused.
Lots of problems with the variable refresh rate displays and the latter Samsung flagships. I'm still running N10+'s. This one has over 8k hours on it, the only the battery has been replaced and it's due for another. Always cased, it looks, feels and runs like new... that's the way it should be.
