Hi guys,
I have a strange problem with my bluetooth wireless earphones B&O Beoplay H5.
On my previous Note 5 (bluetooth 4) they were playing great, but now on Note 8
(bluetooth 5.0) on pairing I get on the phone a message that "Beoplay H5 canceled pairing"
I hope that on Orego, where the bluetooth should be somehow upgraded
the problem dissapears, but for now if somebody from you knows the solution
please share.
Many thanks in advance for any help.
I have seen this before, bluetooth has problems with backwards compatibility some times, why? I dont know, happens with some devices, that is, I have had bt 3 that did not worked with some 2.0, 4.0 that did not with 3.0, 5.0 that did not 4.0, I have been observing this since my S3, and it has been worsening as bt protocols get higher, it seems that your note 8 having bt 5.0 will reject some, if not all inferior bt protocols I dont think oreo will fix this, as I said, I have seen this happening with gingerbread honeycomb, ice cream, kit kat, lollipop, marshmallow and now with nougat

I recently got my new Renault Scenic car and discovered a rather strange situation.
The phone pairs with the carkit and connects the first time without issues and works like a charm.
But however when I start the car and thus also the carkit the phone connects also but no audio is heared trough the carkit when calling or getting called. The phone says it transfers the connection to the carkit but nothing is heared.
It only works when I have bluetooth off, starts the car and then turning bluetooth on the phone on. Wait till it connects and make a call. With this procedure the connection is good till I step out the car.
Its a work around but hmmm not the one i would love to.
I have a nexus one rooted with the latest MCR (21) and an intersect kernel. Though I tried different kernels also but no go.
Hopefully one of you guys have an idea
Ok I searched a bit and found out the Bluetooth is done with the opensource code Bluez. So I wonder which version of Bluez is in the froyo roms and how it can be updated if possible to a new version.
Anyone knows ?
I feel your pain, I have a Renault Grand Scenic III (purchased last December) and the hands-free is unreliable, but music streaming (A2DP) is even worse as most often than not it will fail to connect.
I have to say that the hands-free works fine most of the times (for the phone part, not for music), but some days it will refuse to work no matter what. Since it isn't working much better with my wife's Nokia (BTW, which I had to do a firmware update or else it went into a permanent reboot loop when connected to the car-kit), I assume the problem lies on the car, not on the phone. I have yet to see if my Hero, which has been recently updated to Android 2.1, behaves any better. A firmware update on the Bluetooth car-kit seems a better approach, but I'm unaware if one exists since after some digging it seems my car doesn't use the OEM Parrot kit that other earlier models carried.

Hi,
I've just come across your post. Did the situation improve ?
I'd just point out that for me it comes from the Android system : I own a Renault Mégane 3 and was able to fully use the bluetooth system with my HTC HD2 (Windows Mobile 6.5). Now, I've just installed Android 2.2 on it and I encounter a similar behavior... and the car can't connect to the phone directory either...
Looks like I'll boot back on Windows Mobile when driving...
Regards,
Stéphane
My Hero with the official 2.1 ROM is now 100% reliable. The Nexus One with Froyo isn't, A2DP is still hit & miss.
Well... I'm getting the same but not with Renault ones.
I have LiquidAUX on my car and to have both phone and a2dp synced, I have to restart phone BT and LiquidAUX every time I go into car. And most of the times I can only have 1 connection each time, or phone is on and a2dp is off or a2dp is on and phone is off. It's really annoying since I had an HTC Hero with Android 2.2 and it used to work with no problems...
Hello, I've the same issue with my new Renault and Nexus LG. The phone pairs with the carkit and connects the first time without issues and works like fine. Once someone calls, the connection is terrible or lost! I checked the phone compatibility list at Reanoult and the NEXUS LG is on that list. So it should work. Updated R-link2, same issue. I went to the Renault garage and they told me that this is a bug in the Renault software, they can't do anything about it. Can't believe this, there should be a solution or fix.
Wondering if anyone else are having issues with the bluetooth on the note 5. One issue I'm having is the connection to my galaxy gear disconnects and reconnects randomly and after a few disconnects seems like the phone just ignores the gear and manual connection only works 50% of the time other times I have to reset the phone to regain connection. Other problem Im having, which I cant figure out, is my car bluetooth stereo connects with no issue to my phone but when using calling it uses the car speakers for output audio but the phones mic for input audio. Tried my S5 and the stereo works perfectly. Any suggestions? I've tried wiping caches, unpairing repairing devices. Factory reset (which worked for about a few hours but started the same issues again). I was thinking it may be software related but no software or updates were installed between the factory reset and having issues again.
Yes I'm having the same problem with my gear s2 just got off the phone with tmobile there sending me a new note 5 hopefully it will fix it I'll update after the switch

hi,
i have Note5 stock Rom, no root. I also have a Gear watch (still on Android.. not Tizen, rooted, Null 23 Rom) Been using the Gear watch since launch with my then Note 3, Note 4 and now with Note5.
Overall no problems at all. Only replaced the watch battery a month back thats all.
My Bluetooth connection to all my devices has been overall, very good.
I am currently using my Gear with Note5. The Bluetooth connection is very, very good. i cannot recall it ever disconnecting from Note5. (if in acceptable distance.. +-
10 metres or so.) Overall Gear is working 100%.
Point i am making is according to my experience, Bluetooth connection with Note5 works fine... no disconnecting issues.
I know this doesn't solve your issues,
but good to know.
Good luck
I'm wondering if I may have a hardware issue. If connected to a BT device (eg gear) and I move more than a couple ft from the device connection is lost. I'm very confused with my car stereo though, what would cause BT to split and use my phones mic and the stereos speaker not the stereo mic? Anyone ever experience a similar issue?

hi,
futher i can add,
i use Note5 Bluetooth
with following devices no issues. No disconnecting issues or any other issues.
Polor M400 Bluetooth Hart rate watch( re smart notifications) ,
Jam Bluetooth headset (streaming music) ,
Phillips Bluetooth dock.( streaming music.)
My Lenovo laptop,( Sending of pics, apps etc)
and use it to connect to my other Phone devices etc
Never had any issues with disconnecting.
Given that the devices are normally
about 2 meters apart when in use sometimes 10...12 meters.
I would suggest you get you device checked, as yes it does not seem right
that it disconnects so easy (when so near)
good luck
This might be an odd question but how would someone go about testing the phones BT, it connects just not stable. Only reason Im asking is I dont want to send it to samsung and have to wait 2-4 weeks and them to come back and say its working.

hi ,
yes ,i understand, you don't want to wait for period of time ,w/o your phone. !!!
I would have maybe done some "little tests" , to get a better opinion of the Bluetooth issue ??
eg. Test your devices in environment/area where there is no interference , ( no concrete walls ,buildings ...an open area .No electric cables/towers )
An open area ,field or another locations than your home or workplace etc .
See what is you min. and max. distance on disconnection ,if it only occurs more at your home than another area .? Get some facts and maybe make a small video to illustrate your issue ?
and show it to "someone" in the know ???
eg ..If you bought phone through service provider show video to them ./Samsung ( i have a habit that when i have a issue ..........................
eg. broken roof tiles/wall socket /a damage car part ......etc etc ....
i would take photo's/video ,(with my phone and keep copy on my phone ) and when talking to "somebody" in the know/or send your device to Samsung ,show them photo's /video of issues. It helps them to understand your issues better ,
and maybe give you better advice on issue ?
Also ,try to compare you results with somebody with similar device ???
Google is your friend ???
Google around ..???
you might just learn something in process ,that can help ?
Above is basics of what i would have done .
good luck
Bluetooth firmware v 4.2 and older versions .

hi
further to my post above ,
i just want to add another issue you should be aware .
Bluetooth v 4.2 (Note5 firmware ) and compatibility issues with other Bluetooth versions 3.0 ,v 4.0 v 4.1 etc ,To give you a real life example .......
On my Gear watch i use to have Bluetooth v 3.0 ( ? )
i was using my Note 3 ( at the time ).Then my Note 3 was upgraded to Bluetooth v 4.0 ,
when i started having disconnection issues .Also in Bluetooth settings on my Note3 ,device my Gear would not show up in paired devices or stick in list .
When my Gear Bluetooth firmware was upgrade to v 4.0,
i found the disconnection issues was resolved and my Gear then showed up in pair devices
I am not saying this is the issue,
but you should be aware of what Bluetooth firmware your other devices are using ...?????
Is it Bluetooth L E ( Low Energy ) version 4.2 or v 3.0, v 4.0 ,v 4.1,
good luck

i've got such issues after restoring Note 5. i did reset gear to the factory settings and paired devices...
Thanks for the replies. After doing some testing and what not the only thing I can figure is a bad BT module/chip in the phone. Sent it in through my service provider today. Will post results when I gets it back. Using my old S3 for now until I gets it back, its like my phone shrunk and got sugnificantly slower lol.
update for anyone who is wondering or having the same prroblems. I got my phone back from samsung today, they replaced the main board in the phone. BT seems is working good now and the phone seems snappier than before. Thanks for the help. ☺

How the heck did you get your phone to/from Samsung that fast? I'm about to call TMO to get a replacement device...

I dropped it off at telus (my service provider) and they sent it in for me. only took a couple days, I was surprised it was that fast. I live in NL, Canada and everyhting is usually slow shipping here.
Is there anyone in here that has attempted to use a Bluetooth controller for games on 7.0? Every ROM I've tried I have issues with my d-pad sometimes working but mostly not. Its a brand new Steel Series Stratus XL controller. I'm going to go back to 6.0 to see if maybe its a Bluetooth driver issue on Nougat, but just wanted to get others input on this issue.
I just noticed that phone is not connected to my bmw car kit most of the time, because BT keeps stopping. Now this is a show stopper for me. This seems like yet another cheap Chinese device which has nothing to do with Nokia.

Any other people who have the same problem? I do need BT all day for headset and connection to an OBD-device..
Gesendet von meinem EVA-L19 mit Tapatalk
I'm connected all day and night to a Xiaomi Mi-Band 2. BT never disconnects from it.
Also when I'm driving, I connect to a 2nd device which is an MPOW bluetooth receiver connected to the car's aux port. Also never experienced the BT stopping or dropping the devices (2 simultaneously, yes, using Oreo beta).
Dunno if this helps or qualifies to compare what you're experiencing.
I experience the same Bluetooth disconnections while using my Parrot carkit. Unusable for now. Running on Nougat oct security update
People report about car connection in other phones too, I think it's might be a OS problem. For me I use bluetooth headphone, never get disconnected. But sometimes have audio drop out when moving.
I have a slightly old ford kit.
Yes Bluetooth on it seems a hit or a miss. Connects and the audio comes for a few seconds and then just stops. Calls or audio just stops to work
I would like to blame the phone since my old Nokia 808 and galaxy S6 work fine but my brother's one plus 3 has the same problem.
Bluetooth audio plays just fine over my Volkswagen stereo BUT the play/pause/skip doesn't work and the song info (metadata) doesn't display.
Really frustrating as it was working so well before on my Huawei P9.
I'm running 7.1.1, really hope Oreo comes quick to fix this ?

This was the not very useful advice from Nokia support.
You may have guessed that it didn't work and I'm back using my Huawei... Looks like this phone will be going back to the seller by the end of the week.
Unless Oreo magically comes to save the day. Anyone want to place a bet?
Nokia implemented Bluetooth version 5 so maybe there is a compatibility issue.

Thanks but it was my understanding that Bluetooth versions are backwards compatible? It's a 2012 car stereo and I've tested 2 other Nougat 7.1.X devices which work perfectly.
Music does play from the Nokia but it's the controls and song info that is missing.
I'm back to using my Huawei P9 as my daily driver because of it
So it seems as if there are mostly problems when running Nougat, while it's working under Oreo.
Will watch this thread before going for a new handset. Quite unsure between Mate 10 non-pro, Nokia 8 and OnePlus 5/5t. Dual-SIM is absolutely necessary for me, in Germany they use band 20 (800 MHz) in many areas. As I'm using a Samsung Gear S3 and that OBD-device in my car and furthermore a BT headset, a bigger battery or more efficient device is what I'm looking for.
Seems as if this is getting hard to decide...
sent directly from my mind using my upper extremities..
I'm seeing issues on Nokia 8 with Ford audio in my van. It's not that it disconnects, but when skipping to next / previous song in Play Music, progress indicator continues to move, but no audio comes out unless turn off Bluetooth and back on. Happens when using onscreen skip button, or steering wheel skip buttons. Same worked fine with Nexus 6.

I am using my Nokia 8 for about a week with Ford Ranger (about one year old) and completely there is no any issues.
Regards
A workaround (of sorts) for me is to cycle through the inputs in the car dash (bluetooth, aux-in, fm1, fm2, dab, then back to Bluetooth) which brings audio back and the skip/next buttons work as intended.
Should also clarify that it is not just Play Music. Same issue in Castbox, so not app specific.
Fired up the Nokia 8 last night and see there's a November security patch being rolled out.
This seems to bring my kernel version up to Nov 9 - hopefully this might have an effect on the Bluetooth compatibility and stability?
Haven't had a chance to test it yet but it's going back on Saturday morning if not fixed...

I have only connection problems with my Parrot 3100 carkit. Connection drops when calling. Bluetooth connection drops randomly. Stays connected when not calling. No issues with other Bluetooth devices.
The November update did not solve the carkit issue. Unfortunately. My hopes are on Oreo..

I feel like this will be a forgotten device once the Nokia 9 is released in the New Year...

I believe these are Oreo specific and despite the fact the rollout began yesterday it's yet to hit my phone. Fingers crossed, I've extended Nokia's deadline until Monday ?

I'm on official Oreo release so you are correct.
I have a Note 9 and my wife have a S8
And both phones got a crazy bug after latest uppdates that makes phone swich like crazy when connected to 2 units for example car and headset, or headset and spearker!
It worked great with the same units without any problems before, but now its driving me crazy without any solution or fix that i can find on the internet!
I tested to disable Samsung battery optimization, but didnt help.
Tested diffrent speakers, headsets ect! No diffrince
Any tips?
