Samfirm & .enc4 w/Odin - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been trying to restore my Note 5 (N920T) to stock 7.0 Firmware via Samfirm & Odin. However when I download the firmware with Samfirm, I get a .zip.enc4 file. The OP of Samfirm says to rename it as just .zip. However doing this WinRar spits out a bunch of errors, and it will not extract. I have no clue how I can get these .zip.enc4 files to something I can use in Odin, but the lack of clear instructions is actually laughable.

SamFirm is very easy to use, really there are no instructions needed. Check the attached Screenshots from my Win 8.1 machine. You select Check CRC32 and obviously Decrypt automatically. When SamFirm is done downloading it will decrypt the file and when finished you'll get a zip. Inside the .zip there is your firmware.

[How-To] Root G900AUCU2ANG3

**Make certain that your reactivation lock in security settings is off before beginning this process**
1. Take the NG3 OTA update.
2. Download and install Towelroot-v3.apk(this version does not require internet access).
3. Place your phone into "Download Mode" (press and hold the Home, Volume Down, and Power keys until the phone powers on and displays warning screen, then press Volume Up key) and flash the G900A_ND3_Stock_Kernel using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+).
4. Open the Towelroot app from your app drawer and press "Make it Rain" to root your device.
5. Power off then boot into "Download Mode" again and flash the G900A_NG3_Stock_Kernel also using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+).
6. Install SuperSU to manage root access. Done!
Notes:
1. After flashing the ND3 kernel your phone may run a little wonky and towelroot may not root on the first try. If that happens reboot and try towelroot once again. Once rooted and after flashing the NG3 kernel your phone will once again run like a champ!
2. Following the above process will not affect your User Data or Knox Warranty Flag.
3. Should the NG3 ota update fail consider returning to stock NCE by flashing the G900A_Downgrade_to_NCE.tar using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+) then taking the NG3 OTA update (or place the G900A_NCEtoNG3_OTA.zip onto your ext-sdcard and sideload from stock recovery). Once updated to NG3 continue from Step 2 above.
Alternative Method for Safestrap Users:
1. Place the G900A_NG3_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip onto your ext-sdcard.
2. Use Safestrap's Backup Function to back-up User Data.
3. From the Safestrap recovery perform an "Advanced Wipe" and wipe everything but your ext-sdcard.
4. Flash the G900A_NG3_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip using Safestrap's "Stock Slot."
5. Then press "Home" then "Restore" and restore User Data.
6. Once complete press "Home" then "Reboot" and reboot into "Download" mode.
7. Last, flash the G900A_NG3_Stock_Kernel.tar.md5 using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+).
Notes:
1. The G900A_NG3_100%_Stock_Rooted_ROM.zip process will update your Modem, Non-hlos, System, Kernel, and Stock Recovery to NG3 but does not include the NG3 Bootloader.

It looks like I can't OTA to ND3 anymore. The software update gets me 160MB update directly from NCE reflash.

Not necessary to rename before uploading.
I sent the file to you. However when I want to test install the file in stock recovery, I always get error and it will not update (but I can open in computer with 7zip or other programs). Not sure if the file itself has problem.

No. I ODIN back to NCE, no root. Then I rerun update from About/software update. It does download 162MB file, then boot into AT&T logo. It will update until 30% and reboot, then the firmware is still NCE.
I am starting to think the file that people download from NCE is actually the same as those with ND3. However the file expects ND3 so it won't install (hence I get the error both with running the app and install in recovery). Notice all those people saying update fail in another thread?

The NCE Odin .tar that you flashed does not contain the non-hlos.bin. The non-hlos.bin is in the BL file in that set of .tars which the OP tells you not to flash. Likely beacuse if you are on the ND3 bootloader your wifi may go out or your phone may run wonky if you flash the NCE non-hlos.bin.
Here is the NCE modem pkg including non-hlos.bin. Flash in PDA or AP slot in Odin: G900A_NCE_Stock_Modem
Just go into stock recovery after flashing and re-sideload the NG3 OTA. I will put together an All-in-One_NCE_Odin.tar with the non-hlos so that other won't run into this issue. Someone will have to test.

put the extracted firmware files into c:\odin
delete hidden.img and cache.img
then the command in cygwin to change to that directory would be
cd /cydrive/c/odin
then enter the re-tar command as described in my guide and flash the n910f.tar file with odin! this will work 100%!

Ok finally got through the change directory, created the tar as described and flashed it with Odin. Stuck in bootloop. Tried installing twrp recovery, either failed with odin or when trying to boot into recovery it automatically went into download mode.
Flashed my regions stock rom through kies emergency recovery. Boots up fine, works fine. Next flashed the 5.1.1 Tar image. Same problem, endless booting sequence (gets up to home page and then reboots).
Anyone have some suggestions?

N910F: How to create odin 5.1.1 file for ALL 910F, ROM + diff. CSC files now attached

as some of you may have noticed, since note4 you'll get a "wrong size error" when flashing a new firmware with odin when you want to flash a different region firmware.
example: your CSC is DBT (you have a german note4) and want to flash the new 5.1.1 file with region HTS.
if you download the file and flash it, you will get an error in odin which tells you that the size of the hidden.img is too big.
solution (i did this a few minutes ago, and it works perfectly):
download the HTS file and remove the MD5 at the end of the file. then extract it. you will get a bunch of files. delete the hidden.img and cache.img.
then, download and install CYGWIN (linux shell for pc): https://cygwin.com/install.html
then open cygwin and move to the directory where the files are located, for example: cd /cygdrive/c/*foldername*
then re-tar the files with the command: tar -H ustar -c aboot.mbn sbl1.mbn sdi.mbn tz.mbn rpm.mbn boot.img modem.bin NON-HLOS.bin recovery.img system.img.ext4 > 910f.tar
then you can flash the 910f.tar with odin without any error, and bingo: you are now on 5.1.1 with your old CSC preserved!
this can be used every time when you want to flash a rom not meant for your region, which gives the said error message in odin!
edit:
here is the tar i created:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0UrwVKY4D5jWHlQcjBPY2x6U1E/view?usp=sharing
edit2:
here is the latest official DBT CSC for flashing:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0UrwVKY4D5jX1dCVlgwWHlFd3M/view?usp=sharing
flash this in odin as AP if your phone is DBT and you lost your CSC in the upgrade procedure.
check in the dialer with *#1234#, it should look like my screenshot attached.
if you need other CSC just download the latest original FW for your CSC and extract the hidden and cache files, then make a flashable tar as shown above!

can be used from 4.4.4 as well, because bootloader and modem files are included!
i would recommend a flash to your region 5.0.1 before though, because of the lollipop CSC files for your carrier (which were removed from this tar to make it flashable)!
Sounds reasonable to do then.
Thanks!
Thank you! 5.1.1 is awesome!

Ques: have you done this already and, if so: could you upload your file to MEGA? When you upload your 910f.tar file and I downloaded it, can I place it then in AP (or must I make first the file MD5 again)?
Your "original" CSC = DBT and LTE is working OK (and BT/WiFi)?

Warranty question
Hello TML,
I am wondering if by flashing this, I will break the Samsung warranty if I have a model from another region (in my case, UK)?
Here is what the Version dialog (*#1234#) shows for me:
AP: N910FXXU1BOC5
CP: N910FXXU1BOC4
CSC: N910FXXU1BOB2
Please advise

Root is lost, right?
Does Action Memo working for you?
Hi, I followed the guide and I'm now restoring all my apps.
I noticed that with the #*1234# command I have
AP: N910FXXU1COH4
CP: N910FXXU1COH4
but I don't have the CSC line.
I've formatted the phone with the factory restore option in TWRP before flashing with odin and I was on the ITV CSC this morning.
The phone seems to work correctly (a lot faster than before) but may it be a problem (no CSC)?
Thanks!

Oh, that was fast. Thank you. The reason I ask is because the only way the md5 checks out is by removing the.md5 from the file name. I'm new here, and don't see how to send screenshots of the md5 check.
Select AP???
Now, under step 4 it says to select AP and find the tar file, which I'm guessing he means tar.md5 file because thats the file he linked to. But I do not see where to select AP. I can chose PIT, Bootloader, PDA, PHONE, or CSC in Odin 3.07. I see where I can check dump and there's a AP RAM selection box. I wish I could ask in the thread, but new members can't post in development threads.
@jackeagle or anyone who knows....please fill me in here.
I've apparently met the minimum post requirement so I was able to post in the thread and ask about it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...recovery-qualcomm-twrp-2-8-7-0-t3245256/page4

Please I need full firmware of T813-XXS2BRF2 & root files

Hello everyone,
may I please have the full firmware of T813-XXS2BRF2 with the 4 files of ODIN? & the needed Twrp root files?
I tried those 2 :
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-tab-s2/SM-T813/XAC/download/T813XXS2BRF2/226470/
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-tab-s2/SM-T813/XAR/download/T813XXS2BRF2/226467/
but they contain only one md5 file (If i unzipped this md5 file I also get more than 10 files among them boot.img ...)
Thank you in advance
Full firmware always is one file containing all partitions and that ONE file has the integrated md5. Even if I tell you how I get my firmwares for modem/bl updates, it still is one file you will get. What are you tryin to do?
