Anyone else got a 2gb update on SmartSwitch? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

I'm in New Zealand, and just got a 2gb update via SmartSwitch. I haven't been able to install it yet (slow rural internet,) but I'm hopeful. It's at 53% rn and I can confirm if it's Oreo or not once it's downloaded but I'm wondering if anyone else has got it?

Update is installing now. At around 40 percent now and going strong

Good luck!!

Thanks, but sadly still on nougat. I think it may have been a glitch, as it took a good length of time (enough for a 2gb download on my connection,) but installed really quickly.

Might want to re-title your post. You gave me a burst of false hope there for a minute.

Well they are obviously working on it as there have been many leaked OTA files. There was 5.5.893, 5.6.8933, 5.7.893, 5.7.894 and most recently 5.8.894. I installed the first three of those and all of them really improved my data issues. It's not perfect yet, but it seems to get better and better. I think by the time the final OTA is released and pushed out to phones, it will solve the data issue, hissing headphone issue, camera issue and improve battery life.
Good luck.

Man, this is exactly what turned me to hating Samsung/AT&T. This is the same crap they pulled with the Captivate. "Oh yeah, you'll get that update in October"
Thought I was able to breathe easy since I went with a Moto phone this time around. That they wouldn't screw the users like Samsung was. Guess not.
Guess I shouldn't expect ICS before 2013 either
FWIW, I had severe issues dropping data while on a road trip and at one point my phone would only connect when 4G was available. Before the road trip I was having issues losing connection with both 4G/3G. Long story short, I called cust service and was eventually xferred to the 4G dept. They pushed a "hybrid" PRL to my phone that was supposed to help pick up older Alltel towers, my phone has been pretty much flawless ever since then. And this was over 2 months ago.

cell standby using more battery on 23.0.1.A.5.77

I am wondering if anyone else is seeing this.
Since the update it would seem like the phone's cellular radio is using more battery then before. Standby time has really fallen now.
I will keep monitoring this but it really seems to be the case. This was an update to my USA spec z3c but i may try another firmware as long as i dont have to wipe data between.
let me know guys

Suggest you'd post your findings in the thread that is already dedicated to FW 23.0.1.A.5.77.

If you are to believe the s6 edge guy (I do) who was lucky enough to get the 5.1.1 update the flash is fixed after updating. Memory leak is also fixed so personally I would stick it out and remember sometimes bugs are sadly part of being a early adopter.
Yeah I'll wait it out, he also said it doesn't affect the batt. Life .. Its a very tiny percentage per month,I forget the exact figure.Im glad its not a defect and have to exchange it. I waited tooooo long for the black 128gb!

Galaxy Tab S 8.4 - 372 MB Update

Just turned on the tablet and update available , Anybody else received it yet ?
Update .. still on 5.0.2 , looks like a few system updates , Build No - T700XXU1BOL1
this tab is an absolute MESS on 5.0.2. it's hands down the laggiest samsung device i've ever used. seeing how 5.1.1 fixed my note 4 drastically, these idiots better hurry their asses and get 5.1.1 to the Tab S already. i don't even care about 6.0..i just want a damn tablet that acts like a $400 piece of hardware rather thna a $50 walmart tablet.

I agree it can be sluggish at times , would have been nice if the update gave the option to completely remove the bloatware they loaded it with too.
Well that's odd, mine won't find the update. I've never had this problem with any of the past updates. I'll keep trying.
I'm very pleased with my tablet after the last update. I sure hope this one is also an improvement. At the very least I hope it doesn't break anything.

Have you tried getting the update through Kies ? I'm in the U.K and the O.T.A update came as a surprise

I don't see the update either.
I took delivery of a S 8.4 just yesterday and there was a 372mb OTA update out of the box. I was a bit sad to see that the device is still on 5.02 because it isn't the best. My Note4 ran like a dog until 5.1.1 as you all know. A great tablet all round though and I'm hugely pleased as I returned an Nvidia K1 Shield after 4 days due to hilariously poor battery life.

Still getting updates! B853

Wow!
Switched on my phone to find an update to B853
Looks like a security update but still - it's the P7!
anyone still alive out there?!
How is it going with the update? Any issue so far? I'm guessing this is not your primary phone so maybe you didn't have enough time to test it properly, am i wrong?
@iobling
You're right, I'm on the Mate 9/Mi 6/HTC11/OnePlus thing right now and my partner is on the s8 plus so, yes, well beyond the POINT as my daily driver, however:
I loved this phone soooo much I got a septate SIM for it and still use it everyday.
The build is classic - I've had both front and back glass replaced for quite cheap, the 4G is excellent as if WiFi.
The phone is a little slow for today's needs but the update is smooth and though it looks like it's just security, there's more in there because it does a full boot thing including recalibrating all apps at boot.
It's still a lovely phone this, and this update is smooth.
I'm just surprised that Huawei is still handing out updates!
Reading the old thread it seems the b853 is only for asia. Are you in Europe?
I also checked on the website but no donloads avaliable (i can't get ota because of root).
Actually i'm still using the p7 as primary phone, couldn't find a proper alterntive yet. The major drawback of this phone is the lack of developers support, infact i'm waiting to be sure of support before buying another phone. So far the p7 is still performing well, a little slow but ok, too bad for the 5" screen that has become too little for my purposes.
Also by looking at that thread i realize it's not such a recent updated, so i guess you can be a little less surprise now about huawei updating the phone
It should be available in Europe. My German P7 got it a few days ago ota.
Cause of root I revert the phone to stock firmware to install the update.
It runs very well now.
So now it's available also in Europe awesome!
I'll give it a few more days to show up on the website otherwise when I have time I'll revert and look for the ota. Now it's my primary phone so it's not the best idea to mess around with the rom.
I'm stock everything....I think the phone runs great!
I'm in Kenya by the way, Africa and it came as OTA...
Tell you what, though; simply replacing the camera lens cover (extremely cheap from eBay) was an eye opener. I was aastonished at how good the camera is! I'd forgotten!
