Try factory reset

I do...but doesn't solved

Did you flash any ROM on it ? Maybe you tried to downgrade the device from Oreo ?
Today when I tried to find a solution to not installing OTA, I've flashed 7.1.1 as a downgrade. It failed, but after reboot my fingerprint sensor disappeared, too. Then after I reflashed Android 8 it appeared again.

So, what were you doing with the phone ? Flashing it ? Any information ?

flashing will unlocked my bootloader or not ????

Can't you answer simple question ?
WHAT WERE YOU DOING WITH THE PHONE ?

Set a pin or password security and the option to unlock it with the fingerprint will appear again

When you did a factory reset did you restore from backup afterwards or set it up as a new phone? If you set it up as a new phone and it still didn't work then I'd say you probably need to contact Motorola and ask about getting it repaired.

Bro i have the same problem

Yes i have same issue
Till yesterday fingerprint sensor was working absolutely fine, and then suddenly it stopped working, then after i tried restarting device but didn't solved. Anyone has the solution then please help me

+1, same problem
i do have the same problem, no fingerprint option in security and the senser is not reacting on anything.
had fingerprints registered and working, but after the first october update the problem occurs.
When i flash back to los 15.1 build from 2018-09-26 the fingerprint sensor works again, option to configure reapears and all already registered prints are there.

My post was a little unclear, sorry. i am on los 15.1 and do have this issue on any build after 2018-09-26. i already opened up a regression on los jira bug/regression tracker (REGRESSION-2178), but since no one voted for it or seems to have this problem, i though it may be some step i took.
Anyway. in the meantime i tried to clear all fingerprints before flashing but it did not help
(i did not flash back to stock but to los)
I also did a complete factory reset, formatted data/ wiped everything and then did a fresh install of los 15.1 most recent build, but still got the problem.

I bet you still have a fingerprint file somewhere that needs removed..

@bcrichster: Thanks for pointing me in the right direction...
i flashed back to los 15.1 (2018-09-26), removed the fingerprintes and pin, flashed to the most recent version of los 15.1 but it did not work.
flashed the build LOS 15.1 (2018-10-30), then the menu was there and the sensor works!
So my question: where are the fingerprint files on the x4 stored... read about fingerprints and searched on the device, but did not find them...
Is there a difference between Slot A/B regarding the fingerprints?
Thanks

I had the same issue when I first flashed RR room. Ended up flashing back to stock then going through the whole custom ROM setup again. Fixed the sensor and all the other little issues I was having (no headphone sound, etc). Not sure what the underlying issue was but for the sensor, left over files makes sense.

Fingerprint unlock issue... (Solved)

Hi all,
I had the VIE-L09C432B161 Firmware on my phone, everything was fine and the fingerprintreader worked perfect.
Because of a broken display it was repaired and as special "service" they flashed the B180 Version.
So far so good, but now I can`t unlock the screen or wake up the phone with the fingerprintreader.
Is there an issue with Fingerprint unlock/wake issue with B180?
Also when I try to download the B161 oder B173 from the Firmware Threads, I get errors.
It seems the URl has changed or Huawei removed the firmwares from there page.
Thanks!

The B180 works fine with fingerprint. U should send the phone back to service center because i think when they removed the back cover to fix your display didnt atach the flexcabel of the fingerprint sensor to the motherboard.

Thanks.
But I was not clear enough in my first post.
I can register Fingerprint and the Fingerprint reader also deny to register the same Fingerprint again and tell`s me that.
So the Fingerprintreader is working but not the screen unlock feature.

Ok, have u try factory reset the phone?
Sent from my VIE-L29 using XDA Labs
This was a really good hint!
I did`t execute the factory reset, however this remembered me that I removed some games and bloatware from the phone in the beginning.
Accidently I removed also an app called Tastatur-Sperre (Keyboard-Lock). The good thing is: it was in the recycler.
So reinstalled, reboot and TATA. It works again!
Puhhh, really without that I probably missed this change I made.
Lesson learned: Even if you have experience with rooting, removing bloatware and installing custom roms.
Don`t do it if you are sick! And I am sick....

Fingerprint Sensor Replaced, how to re-calibrate?

My p10 was just got back from warranty claim for broken screen. When i turn it on, there was this menu asking to recalibrate fingerprint sensor because the sensor was just replaced (not inputting new fingerprint). It was unclear how i should do it at first, however after few attempts it was supposedly asking me to rotate the phone while the finger resting on top of the sensor.
Too bad, i think my first few failed attempts may have miscalibrated the whole sensor.
Anyone knows how to get back into that menu?

I replaced a broken display on a P10 VTR-L29 and the fingerprint button is not working, everything else is. At first I though the display is faulty, but now I have doubts since the fingerprint option on the menu is just not there. I re-flashed the same version of the firmware (B369) via TWRP and the problem persists. I may have to try a factory reset.

So this is how it ends when noobs messing with phones they don´t understand.
-You can unlock bootloader by paying some bucks to DC phoenix.
When you have no fgingerprint sensor options enabled it points that:
- the fingerprint sensor is broken
- the fingerprint sensor is not conected right
Hi alll
I had the same problem after replacing my screen.
I used Quick tuneup, and since the fingerprint sensor work correctly.

Sorry bro, my fault, i thought you are the one who asked before you.
You didnt say anything about your problem just asked if there is a solution and that you cannot unlock bootloader. With this info no one is able to help you. But anyway:
1. method:
-Remove existing fingerprints
-do a factory reset
-add a new fingerprint (when finger not scaned properly try to push a little bit harder on the sensor and rotate the finger)
-After the new fingeprint is scaned it should work well
2. method:
-after you recieve OTA notification (every month) go to settings/system updates/ there are three dots in upper right corner and select "get the whole latest package". This will download the whole firmware and perform a factory reset low level and this should work (if simple factry reset didnt work for you).
if this methods don´t work i will suggest you to go to phone service.

Iris Scanner not Working

Hello, my name is Ade(yeah probably you already knew it from my nickname). I came from Indonesia, using SM-N950F csc XID. On dec patch, everything is working and seems stable. But not since january patch update
One thing that bothered me is Iris Scanner is not working. The scanning progress is running but around 80% suddenly got error(see the first screenshot).Once I using my irish before my screen broke and on dec patch its working. But a month pass and now my friend wanted to try iris scanner feature but got error. And start from that I realize that this issue. I tried factory reset and flash odin still error. Another issue is my auto brightness is not working. But face recognition is still working
My question:
1. Is this hardware issue or software?
2. Are face recognition and iris using same sensor?
3. Should I go to service center soon and claim the warranty?
Note: I never rooted my phone
hi... i have the same issue with my Note FE....
Have you tried cleaning the scanner lens?

Thanks for the answer. I did the hard factory reset and it still did not work. So I contacted Samsung Brazil and they asked me to send the warranty. Maybe it's the motherboard problem.

Yes if you already reset and tried flashing with Odin then it's likely a hardware issue. Hope they sort it out for you

MIUI 12 Fingerprint Unlock defective

After upgrading to MIUI 12 Global OTA yesterday, fingerprint unlock stopped working. When I select fingerprint unlock in settings to switch it on and enter my PIN, phone goes dark and restarts (MIUI splash screen). Any suggestions? Phone is stock and not rooted.
Additional info: from CIT menu I ran the fingerprint sensor test. Result shows: all success. Next test (Fod fingerprint input test) gives following message: Your phone has password can not enroll fingerprint information
Not sure I understand the result of this test. Phone of course has a password (required to set fingerprint unlock).

I have the same problem, also changed the screen. I hope some one find a solution for this.. Now i went back to miui11
Eu também estou com esse problema, alguém tem que saber a solução.
I have the same problem. I updated from a fresh MIUI 11.06 (i wanted to remove orangefox cfw to do OTA update) to MIUI 12 via ota update. I didn't register fingerprint in fresh 11.06
OTA went perfectly but when I tried to register fingerprint it crashed and rebooted.
My screen was also replaced a couple of months ago, if the service center uses an original screen? I don't know. I should ask. They provide 2 year warranty on installed screen so maybe they should replace it with REAL one!!

and if you already replace your screen on service center and try the fingerprint please update to this thread, I want to know the reason of this bug.

10 point touch does work though.
Same problem
I'm having the same issue with my Redmi K20 Pro. My display was also replaced to a not original one and fingerprint was working fine at MIUI 11.
After updating via OTA to MIUI 12, it crashed every time I tried to unlock, restarting the device with an infite loop. After that, I made a factory reset, then configuration reset and reinstalled the OTA package but it still won't work.
Hope we can find a solution to this problem!

Works for me too.
In past issues with face unlock, the fix was to perform a factory reset (Settings - System - Reset options - Erase all data) before flashing a new rom. Supposedly the chip that face data is stored is not cleared until you do a factory reset. Unsure if a full wipe clears the chip. You can try this next time ... may be easier than doing a bootloader lock/unlock.

Hi, My face unlock is also messed up after updating to Android 11 (it keeps saying “fit face into frame” without letting me register my ugly face...)
Did you encounter the problem after rooting? I’m trying to figure out how to solve this, as I had no success with factory reset or flashing OTAs and factory images

I had the exact same problem as you. face unlock became unreliable after the Android 11 upgrade, so I deleted face data and tried to set up again. It keeps saying 'fit face into frame' no matter the angle or the lighting. Did a factory reset and no improvement. I have never rooted or unlocked the bootloader on this phone. I informed google support and they are sending me a replacement.
Just to share an experience with the community: After android 11 update I was having glitches with face unlock. (Totally stock, no root & all latest ota) This got worse until it wouldn't work at all. Deleting face & starting over didn't work as it just refused to even acknowledge trying to register anything. Then the auto brightness starting flicking up and down and finally half the screen disappeared under green flickering. A factory hard reset made no difference. I even did it twice but the welcome screen on rebooting was still covered in green flickering. Searching for a new phone reluctantly. I picked up my pixel 4xl again to see if I could think of a way of selling it for any purpose & it was fine! Set up & reinstalled a backup & everything including face unlock works perfectly like new. What was all that about!?
Can you describe full algorithm for noob, please?

I've done relocking bootloader, but it didn`t help, face unlock still not working, OC is stock, latest.
I dunno what's the situation of you guys
But let me share my experience
I was having lock screen lags in Android 11
So I flashed the previous Android 10 image
It broke the face unlock and still broken even after flashing the full Android 11 image with wipe
What I did was flashing back to Android 10 again
Then update to Android 11 through OTA
This also was the method in r beta to fix face unlock issues
