Hello,i have installed the ClockWorkMod 6.0.3.1. in my unlocked optimus 4X,and later installed the CM 10.1 stable 10.1.3 ,and i have a big problem with the internal space.
Install the CM correctly with all wipies and clean cache davilk.
The Apps occupy the twice of the space in the internal SD. The asphalt 8 occupy 3gb, fifa 14 2,8gb !!!.
With the "file explorer" i eliminated maual only one archive in the folder "0" or "Legacy", and the files is eliminated in all folders.
Install the CM correctly with all wipies and clean cache davilk.

check data/media/android/obb folder. thats the folder where data of asphalt f.e. from 4.1.2 rom is placed. for 4.2.2+ roms it's in data/media/0/android/obb
the legacy is the sd card emulation and the number is the user. 0 is the default user , you. your rom supports add user feature. its simple link (or call it a shortcut) to seperate users. it doesnt install many times everything, all users point to same sd card location.
Here is the distribuition of the folders:
raiz:/storage/emulated/0/-----------here all folders(alarms,android,dcim,etc...)
--------------------------------/legacy/----here all folders(alarms,android,dcim,etc...)
------------------/sdcard0/here all folders(alarms,android,dcim,etc...)
------------------/sdcard1/here my external sd
Now the capacity of the folder:
raiz:/storage/emulated/0/-----------3,37gb 223 archives 103 folders
--------------------------------/legacy/-----3,37gb 223 archives 103 folders
------------------/sdcard0/----0,00kb
------------------/sdcard1/----897mb
In my phone i go to /settings/storage/
Now go into storage and no color bar reaches half. When I give to update bar turns gray over three quarters, and down again to where it was before.
Espace total 12,26gb
Avaiable 1,93gb
Aplications 3,73gb
Images 140kb
Audio 1,25mb
Downloads 2,47mb
Data in cache 55,24mb
Varios 166mb

what ? really ? still worrying about the profiles ? do a clean install and first thing to do , check with a root explorer the folders. you will see that 0 and legacy are shortcuts. internal sdcard is mounted in mnt, in there you will see the real folder tree.
then there is the emulation of the profiles. if u create a second profile , then a shortcut will be created for example : "storage/emulated/1/" which leads to the mounted sdcard in mnt. all profiles lead there. even if there were 10 users , the sdcard folder would be the same. its not extra storage. those are ONLY links. maybe for example "0" is the operator, you. the permissions would be read , write, execute. if there was for example your little sister she would maybe be "1". the permissions to that shortcut if u want, they could be only read. this means she cant delete anything.

hey willy... no one can help us. i have your same problem with an aosp roms. when i flash the rom all my memory stuff is hide, and i can`t understand. i go back to official and all my stuff appear again... like magic... explain to me that please... sorry for my poor english... we will appreciate your helps...
read my post in this same thread, its explained in there. pre-4.2.2, mounting point for sdcard was data/media/, 4.2.2 and up its data/media/0. so if you had stock rom, your stuff will be in data/media/Android for example, then when you upgraded to custom 4.2.2, that data stayed there, while new one is created in data/media/Android/0.
just noticed it too. he is not completely wrong. in data/media/ alright there are 3 folders.
(1) 0 , (2) legacy , (3) obb.
in there, legacy is empty and 0 is our sdcard. so sdcard is mounted to 0.
if we go to mnt the sdcard is mounted in legacy.
if we go to storage we see 3 folders.
(1)emulated , (2) sdcard0 , (3) sdcard1. we forget sdcard1 for now, since its the external card.
watch 1 and 2. sdcard0 and is mounted in legacy.
lets go now inside emulated.
We see 2 folders,
(1) 0 , (2) legacy.
They both contain same files and both point to 0.
what is that now ? sdcard has two different mount points which in the end lead at the same folder. the system cant read correctly the remaining free space, its adding the two mount points so we have less free space which is wrong. but below we see the true values.
example for me now:
free space 11,36gb
apps 291 mb
pictures,videos 26,14 mb
download 8 kb
cache 40,18 mb
more various things 422 mb.
(also considering 400mb swap which cant be seen anywhere)
so i have : 291+26,14+0,08+40,18+422+400=1176,4
oke lets keep it. 1176,4 mb.
the internal cant be exactly 16 gb of course. lets say i have 15,4 gb
why the system sais i have 11,36 gb free space ?
So even if our real free space is 13 gb whats the meaning if the system only see 11 gb free space ?
In my case i dont play games so i have enough storage to "play" around.
But in the case of a hardcore gamer isnt that a problem ?
( for internal space always. hardcore gamers of course usually use external space )
EDIT:
those values are on cm10.2. ( jellybean 4,3 )
so the problem is not only in 4.2.2 the title sais, but on every cm rom.
I have this problem in a CM rom,in stock rom have more space.
all files 3,758 gb,and only have 2'15gb free,to 12,26gb...

you did not format internal sd card!!! i already wrote in this topic what the cause of yoru problem is. format itnernal sd card, install roms from external, and it will all work. you WILL loose everything on internal card, including music/pictures/etc!
Hello,
I have about 8 gb of stuff on my internal memory, but my device is showing the SD to be nearly full, with System Memory taking 29.56 gb. This seems absurdly high, anybody know what's going on?

That's why... Its a safe strap bug. The space is still there its just wonky reporting. If you open a file manager, you will see your true free space

FACTORY RESET SHOULD FIX THAT. POSSIBLY THE MOUNT POINT CHANGE MADE THE PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED APP EXIST, BUT UNSEEN.
OR IF YOUR MIND IS AS STRONG AS YOUR CAPS LOCK, TRY MOVING YOUR PREVIOUS ROM'S INTERNAL TO THE CURRENT ROM'S MOUNT POINT.

hAVE YOU DONE ANY CWM BACKUPS? I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH IT, ALL MY BACKUPS WENT TO SOME WEIRD FOLDER IN .../STORAGE/ INSTEAD OF THE SDCARD, THEY TOOK A LOT OF SPACE AND WERE HARD TO FIND

I second that. had this happen to me.
I've had something similar, but for me it was incomplete downloads being cached in the the internal storage - a few roms, an attempted firmware download and there was 1.5GB of stuff that I couldn't immediately locate.
One of my favourite utility apps is called Disk Usage - this gives you a visual representation of what is taking up space on your SD cards (so bigger files/folders are large on the screen), I forget the exact name of the folder but thanks to this app I could quickly work out what was taking up so much space.
And some versions of CWM do seem to hide the back up somewhere not obvious - my average back ups are betwen 1.5 and 2GB so one or two of these will eat up most of your internal storage.
Hey, I am running out on free storage on my device, and I noticed that in the Storage Space section in settings it says that I have 12Gb used of "other". How can I identify what actually is taking that space and clean it? I manually looked in to all folders on my device and could not find anything that big to account for that.

I'll think your main storage consumption is in internal data.
Not rooted means you can't see them and can't delete them.
Seems some apps saved a lot of data.
I guess you've searched in internal storage and you've didn't found huge files....
Unrooted means also you can only delete complete apps to find out which are responsible.
