I've had the Oreo update installed for a couple of days now without issue. Today however I've got no cell signal, well I've got bars there but no 4G/3G etc. Sometimes it comes back for a minute, but for about 95% of the time its not there. Anything I can do except do a clean flash?
I'm on the S9+ port.
If I go to Settings>Connections>Mobile networks>Network operators>Search networks, I get a list of all the networks
FFS, mobile data was off. Please delete and save my pride

I have had my xperia T for about 6 months or so and since day 1 on both stock .140 and .141 roms my phone would display having full signal or at least a couple of bars, but when i go to send a text or ring it would say no service for a call and unable to send for a message dispite having full signal, a quick reboot and everything was working again fine.
My phone would do this maybe once a week, once or twice it did it a few days in a row then other times it would go weeks without doing it.
I got onto t mobile and they reset some settings, didnt do it for a while but eventually it did it again, I go tmobile to do me a new sim card and the problem went a way for a while, but eventaully started again.
Its quite uncomon it does it really, but then it does it is very annoying, just wondered if anyone else had suffered the problem and found a solution?
Thank You
No one else has ever had no service despite their signal showing bars?
I have done a bit of a test with this and noticed that if I just use GSM only I have no issue, I think the problem is something to do with the way I turn mobile data on and off.
As I am in a position to use Wi-Fi almost all the time I opted for a contract with only minimal mobile data as I knew I wouldn't need much of it. So I only turn mobile data on now and again to search for something if I am away from a Wi-Fi connection. I can't say exactly how the fault works, but I think if I connect to 3g, do what I need to do, then turn off mobile data, the next time I go somewhere and loose signal my phone fails to re join the t mobile network. It continue to display the correct about of bars, but if I pull down the notification bar I can see the phone actually has no service.
It is not until I go to make a call or send a text do I notice this really, but no one can get through to me either.
I'm 99% sure if I use mobile data on GSM I don't have the same issue, it seems to just be an issue with allowing the phone to switch between WCDMA and GSM and using mobile data.
After a bit of a Google search it appears Xperia Z users seem to suffer a similar problem judging by other forums, but no one has come up with any solution.
I think I have had this issue on every stock firmware I have used.
Any ideas anyone? Thanks
After 2-3 days of not messing with the phone anymore (flashing, putting root apps, etc) my somewhat alright LTE signal has now turned into 3G with no circle around it meaning it's connected to the network, but not actually getting data. It happened while I had the phone in standby for a few minutes, so I can't think of any one app that caused it. Reinstalled rom even after a full wipe.
The strange thing is I will sometimes get a faint signal of 3G which then dissapears within a minute. I did the latest OTA before I flashed my rom so I should have the newest radios and everything. I can't update profile either. My family is getting good signal so I know it's something with my phone. Any ideas?
Happened to me too..I re activated with Hands Free activation to reset the data connection to Sprints network..Only worked twice for me through out the day then the phone was just stuck in the same spot as yours (3G with circle around it). Nothing we did reset the data link to sprints network(cust. svs rep).I brought the phone back to where I bough it and they didn't allow an exchange unless they held the phone over night to test it..I didn't have time for it and everything i hear about the Triband set up Sprint is doing not allowing data while in a call and the growing pains of the network rebuild have worn down on me after 10 years so i had to return the phone and buy it on a network that allowed the phone to operate the way it was meant to..
When I first got the phone, it would hold an LTE signal much better than my m7. Then last night I notice LTE cutting in & out where it was pretty stable before. I check it was trying to connect to Band 26 which is 800 LTE. It might have been from a further away tower. This was the first time I have ever seen Band 26 in my area which is currently being deployed. The constant cutting in & out also drains my battery down. This has nothing to do with my phone but the towers which my home tower has been having issues since last July. For now I set my phone to CDMA only since I have wi-fi at home & work anyway I don't need the phone on LTE. Even when LTE was working on 1900 which was stable, the signal was still pretty week and would drain more batter than a strong 1X signal. Since LTE is data only right now, there is no reason to have the phone prefer LTE when wi-fi is on. With CDMA only it's not bouncing around all over the place.
I noticed if I go to the mobile networking settings and have it it on lte/3g if I leave a 4g area, 3g works ok. If I put the toggle specifically on 3g it shows I have 3g, but anytime I tried to search google or access a data connection the signal goes away and gives me the signal with an exclamation point. I tried finding info on this, but didn't see anything when I searched. Anyone else have this issue? I am on Sprint with the 64gb white device. Thanks
I leave mine on 3g due to the lame multiple text issue. It has no problem staying on 3g. Perhaps try updating your PRL/profile and see if that helps.
I don't have 3g either if I set it to 3g only. I don't leave lte service too often to test whether 3g works when it switches on its own. I may have to make a trip to the mountains to test it. I do know that my old Note 2 would loose lte after flashing tons over and over and I would have to flash back to 100% stock the factory reset from the settings app to fix it. I may try this with my Nexus, about time for a wipe anyway.
Factory reset does not fix it. Just noticed that I don't even get 3g when it is set on LTE. I'm gonna go talk to my cellular provider about it.
I don't know why it wouldn't work. You did update profile and PRL also right? Here's some shots of mine and it's working fine.
I have a bad Sim.....I also don't have a phone number as well..... I swiped with an old card I had and my number appeared, I guess I'll be visiting the store tomorrow to get a new one. Maybe it'll fix my 3g. Its also not wanting to let me pick 3g as an option now, just stays on LTE.
KB112 - Are you on sprint also? I updated prl/profile and no luck still. 3g still works if I am on lte and go into a 3g zone, but if I toggle it to 3g only I get no data. Wondering if its a sprint thing or a lollipop bug on Sprint, or a bad sim, missing feature activation.
Bluemgt06 - did a new sim fix it for you?
Sorry, didn't see this earlier. But yes, I am on Sprint. My 3G would work fine if I set to 3G only. Not sure why yours has issues with this?
Oddly I tried it today and it started working. I think it could have been some kind of issue with the tower/upgrades or a bug that a reset may fix on occasion perhaps.
I've seen a number of threads where people post about their device dropping network data connectivity, and needing a reboot to solve it.
My issue is a bit different. Occasionally (I've noticed it 3-4 times today) when I go to send a text (SMS) or to use a data enabled service like Hangouts, that my phone shows no bars at all.. not even just no data, but the bars are grey and there's a red x. I wait about 15 seconds and it reconnects, then another 10 seconds later, the data is live again.
Phone is a private sale and under 1 month old, and all the Stamina functions are off.. I do see that the "Queue background Data" is turned on, but I don't think this should effect, no?
Not sure what digits I should be looking at to know if this might be a hardware vs software issue.. build is listed as .93
Im no stranger to unlocking and flashing, but I've kept this stock cuz it's tight and I adore the battery life.
Suggestions?

check in settings in network and set your network to the one you use , like gm/wcdma /lte , maybe your phone is strugling to find 3g or 4g , try it , who knows it might solve the issue , ty
Been about a month since I posted, and I'm still experiencing this issue. I often thumb my phone on and it's not connected. I don't really mind waiting for the 30 seconds or so that it takes to jump back on the network, but it often means I miss calls, and since it's my business phone, it kinda bums me out to suddenly get a VM notification of a missed call even though it never rang.
Is there some sort of utility that I can use to monitor the network activity to see how frequently it drops, and for how long? I've looked into ones on Play but they don't seem to have a history, just something that shows what data up and down is currently being reported.
Sadly the only Sony store in my city (and I think the country - Canada) has recently closed for good, so I'm not sure how to go about warranty repairs...

I don't have a solution, but I can tell you that you're not alone. I've been experienced the same thing on my Z3C. I sometimes wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the MVNO I use doesn't support 4G LTE.

Interesting.. Your issue isn't just data, but a complete network disconnection? Im with Fido which is an MVNO under Rogers, but I thought they supported LTE. The issue also persists even on wifi

Yes, it seems to be a complete loss of the mobile connection. When I wake the phone I see gray bars and a red X on the signal strength indicator. Within seconds the phone re-acquires and the indicator goes to 2 or 3 bars. I have also seen it happen with wifi active. The frustrating part is that it doesn't seem to do it often enough to troubleshoot. I'll notice the problem maybe a couple of times a month and there's nothing obviously different about my usage patterns in those instances.
Mine does it at least a dozen times a day. I can only assume this as I frequently miss calls and at least 3-4 times a day I see it happen. =(
Same Problem
Randomly I have no connection at all but after a few seconds everything wents back to normal. Did not have this problem with T-mobile in Germany but with with O2 I have. With T-mobile I had LTE but with O2 I don't, so I guess that's the reason.
Interesting... I've disabled LTE and now have it on 3g/GSM. We'll see how it works moving forward, and I'll post again in a week. Stay tuned.
Service Providers
In the mobile network settings one can change the service provider manually. With LTE enabled my provider has three entries: LTE, 3G and 2G. Connecting two LTE fails, because my provider blocked it in my plan. Having LTE enabled, it often tries to connect to LTE I assume. I switched off LTE and set the provider manually to 3G. Maybe that helps. We'll see.

Interesting.. I have LTE as part of my network and plan... But once I made changes to the settings as I indicated, I no longer receive the network drops I originally experienced.. I might just be missing the alerts, but it seems fixed... #crossedfingers
Hello.
I bought my phone just 3 days ago together with my gf.
She bought the exact same phone and same carrier as me on the same shop..
Around here we are supposed to have good 3g signals all over, but not inside our house, there we can only use GSM.
Her phone works perfectly, with 3-4 bars gsm signals inside house.
But i get nothing when entering house. NO bars what so ever, (even if i pick GSM ONLY from settings).
I got to service menu and read "0 db" on signal.
I tried everything, Clean sim, restart phone, factory settings, changing GSM/3g/4g priority etc, and even tried MY sim in HER phone.
Its defo a hardware/software issue on my phone.
My experiences from 3g and 4g with this phone is that 4g seem stable and good, while 3g (outside my house) seem to often go from max to none all the time. jumps up and down
and sometimes leave me with no signal for 5 minutes until they are back.
I contacted the carrier to check and everything seems fine over there.
Any suggestion? Could it be really possible that i got a faulty antenna? if im going with my phone to the store for a replace they would probably not belive me or take my reason for real
EDIT: Have to add that the past 12 hours of constant trying to figure out the problem i had a few cases with signals while i was trying to switch to "gsm only" but they lasted for 5 seconds and were gone again.
Had the same, send mine back, saw in the log of the repair department that you refreshed the software. But will check
if they have changed something. Comes back in a few days from now.
