LG G6 Puerto Rico - T-Mobile LG G6 Questions & Answers

I just bought a new LG G6 H872PR and was just wondering if I flash the H872 KDZ would it take it or will I have a shinny brick?

I've been researching this topic but have found no results anywhere. I'm way too afraid to brick my daily driver at the moment so I'm staying away until someone can test it out. I'd imagine the phone being identical to the H872, but you never know with these devices. A small change can screw up the system entirely.

What phone works with xposed that I can buy for under £100?

Hi,
I am looking to buy a phone in the UK that ideally costs £80 or under. It has to be able to work with xposed and xprivacy easily. Any help would be appreciated?
You can buy an LG Optimus L90 for about $70 on Amazon. 1GB/8GB, sdcard, removable battery, good 4.7" screen, mediocre camera, no radio. I have the D415 (T-Mobile) version, gsm, no lte. It has stock roms available and means to flash them, root methods, twrp, official cm13, works fine with Xposed. No idea if there's one with the bands you'd need, but you can check it out. Cheers.

Bumped Recovery .

will someone ever create a bumped recocvery for this beast ???

You are thinking of LG phones, not Motorola phones. With Motorola phones you have to unlock the bootloader.

Well, the LG G3 isn't really better than my Moto Turbo/Moto Maxx XT1225. You just bought the wrong Quark (Verizon model). Mine has free bootloader unlock.
LG G3 only has Snapdragon 801 vs Quark Snapdragon 805.
Plus, my XT1225 has 64GB internal storage.
Yes, the LG G3 does have laser-focus, rear OIS camera and it was a great phone.
I am an LG fan -- having dealt with LG Nexus 5 for me and my wife, having a couple of LG G2 as backups, and heavily customizing other LG G2 and LG G3 for friends. I even won a free LG G4 in summer of 2015, sold it still new in the box, and bought my third Moto XT1225.
But there are NOT bumped recoveries for LG G4, LG G5, LG G6. Those days are gone. LG does allow bootloader unlock on some variants, but if you bought the Verizon model of any of those, you would be in the same situation you are now. Bootloader LOCKED.
I am keeping track of the LG V30 rumors. A bunch of us have been discussing 2017 phones over in the OTHER Quark forum. Yeah, there's other ROMs, a custom kernel, other goodies over there that even Droid Turbo owners can use, if they unlock their bootloader. But the LG V30 may be the first phone in 3 years to really catch eye.

I bought a verizon samsung Note 3 one year ago and successfully unlocked its bootloader by adb commands .
But Motorola phones are totally different .
.
I dont really care as much about bootloader of droid turbo . I do like the stock marshmallow . Even tried the updated moto camera but the result was same as stock camera . I can still delete bloatware and do some fun by temprooting it with autoinintroot
.
Hopefully , Motorola will release nougat update for this beast :fingers-crossed:

Well, we were discussing LG phones. Specifically the NEWER LG phones -- like LG G4, LG G5, LG G6. I said if you bought Verizon models of those newer LG phones you would be out of luck, because "bumped recovery" (this topic) only applies to LG phones, and even then only to OLDER LG phones.
You were lucky there was an exploit for Verizon Note 3. Discovered by the one of the same guys on the Sunshine team, before they went to the paid app model. This guy below recompiled it, but still credited the original dev:
[Official] Note 3 Verizon Bootloader Unlock
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...cial-note-3-verizon-bootloader-t3359370/page1
Note 3 is a much older device, from 2013 -- with only Snapdragon 800, 1080p resolution. Even the early 2014 LG G3 had Snapdragon 801 with 1440p resolution. Whereas our late 2014 Quarks have Snapdragon 805 and 1440p resolution.
Sunshine started the paid app model because people pledged bounties for bootloader unlock, but then weren't paying up. Some people were pledging evenhundred of dollars on a hot new phone -- then months later when bootloader unlock came, they had convenient amnesia or had moved on to other phones.
Here was the one of the bootloader unlock bounty threads in this forum:
[BOUNTY] - Unlock our Bootloader / Root the Turbo!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/bounty-unlock-bootloader-root-turbo-t2927958
Go read some of those posts and laugh. There were other threads started also, but that was the main one. Some people pledged $100, even $125 for this phone. Well, guess what, it's only $25. It's a bargain!
But it took a year of effort and bricked Droid Turbos for Sunshine team to unlock the bootloader for the Droid Turbo. So, for people who take really want bootloader unlock for Droid Turbo, well it's $25. If you don't want to pay, buy another Quark like the XT1250 or XT1225 that doesn't need Sunshine to unlock the bootloader.
Research the phone before you buy and there's no complaints. This phone has been out since late 2014, and all the facts about it (like locked bootloader and needing paid Sunshine) are well-known. Personally, I won't buy a phone I can't root and install custom recovery, and I will research first before buying If root/custom recovery method (in this case, bootloader unlock) costs $25, I would factor that into the purchase decision. (But I don't buy Verizon phones, so I've never had to pay.)

No, Motorola isn't giving Quark official Motorola Nougat update. The list of Motorola phones getting Nougat has long been published.
Motorola didn't even give ALL the Quarks official Marshmallow (XT1250 was left off), so they sure aren't giving us Nougat. But there's half a dozen Nougat custom ROMs available, thanks to XDA devs:

Gladly paid the 25 bucks... It made me feel like I had a new phone (even though it's a back up phone). I feel that my Verizon lg g6 will not get root

LG has carrier unlocked LG G6 variants which qualify for bootloader unlock code. The U.S. unlocked version would work on Verizon.

Moto e5 go - XT1921-8 - Verizon (VZW Channel) | Cross-firmware?

Hello friends!
I just bought one of these (Moto e5 go - XT1921-8 - Verizon) Unlocked, using it on Google Fi. It works well and all, but I'm a tinkerer.. to the point I'd rather break-it-in.. or break it
I haven't seen any threads related to this specific variant so I was wondering the possibility of primarily rooting it, then the possibility of getting one of the AOSP roms tight fit in.. I.E. I'm worried about firmware mismatches causing issues? I'd like to at least de-bloat the VZW channels, but ultimately end with a fresh standard AOSP I can work from.
Does anyone have any experience or helpful info?
*I did find the Baseband variant is set as the JAMES_GO_VZW_CUST.. So is this a JAMES variant?
How did you unlock it?

Can the lg g4 h811 use the housing bodyframe of the h815 version?

hi guys so i got this lg g4 h811 and was wondering if the h815 housing body frame compatible to the h811. I kind of a broke the body frame of my h811 and i was having a hard time finding the most parts since i live here in the philippines because lg g4 is not a very popular model here and most parts i can find online are parts for the h815 version only. It might be kind of a noob question but i haven't seen the h815 version yet and i just want to make sure if they have the same hardware parts because i don't have the luxury of wasting money on the wrong hardware parts since i dont have that much money . I really need the advice :crying: thank you

LG V409N Unlock and Root?

Hi,
I'm new here and i came from the LG V30. I'm planning to upgrade to a V40 but the only thing available for me was the V409N (Korea) and the V405UA (AT&T) version.
The V30 can cross flash between many variants except T-Mobile using modified LGUP, root and TWRP can also be achieved.
I was wondering if the V40 has similar methods? Because i usually use my phone with root and custom ROMs.
Thanks in advance
If you look in the forums you'll see threads for crossflashing v40 and unlocking and rooting. Like the v30, t-mobile is excluded. Custom roms are also available. Unlike the v30, the v40 is a treble device, which makes things a bit more complicated, but on the plus side the v40 does have a 'fire-hose' available which makes it modifiable using qfil and edl mode (which means basically that you really can't brick it). I like my v40 very much, (was) a flag ship device, a good price, and some development for it, though not an overwhelming amount.
cheers

lg v40 won't satisfy you in terms of custom roms and root. also it has the most bad battery experience of all LG phone I've ever used! , think about G8 instead.
Well, 'satisfied' in terms of custom roms is going to be subjective. Some, like myself, if lineage is available (it is), then I'm satisfied. As far as battery goes, I too was disappointed at first, but when I got a power-delivery charger, that all changed. I had read the PD chargers are not the same as QC chargers, and additionally that you should never charger your PD battery with a QC charger (which I had been using).
LG does specify both types of charging in the specs (18W max). But for whatever reason, my V40 battery is much much better if I use a PD charger.
cheers
