Strange bootloop, should I call the warranty service? - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

Hi, my Xiaomi Redmi 4X (santoni) got a strange bug this morning, no audio from the speaker, I tried to see if there was something on the jack port but nothing, then I reflashed the same rom (Miui Pro, never had problems, used for three months) but nothing happen.
In the evening the smartphone got bootloop, if I try to access to the fastboot mode graphics glitches, recovery is not accessibile.
Should I have to call the warranty service or can I do something by myself?
Sorry for my bad english.

Can u sent a pict??
Bootloop on first logo? Or second logo? Or blank screen?
Or maybe u can try to flash it with edl cable ( Deef flash cable )

No, sorry, I can't send any photos, at the moment the phone is on black screen (it is turned on), the classic fastboot pic doesn't appear anymore.
I'm waiting for the battery discharge, then I will try to recharge the phone for one houre...

[Q] Phone starts and sounds but screen remains black, with backlight on!!

Hello all,
My Xperia was in a serious bootloop that I couldn't fix, not with pc companion not with flashtool flashing stock roms. So I gave up and sent it to the closest Sony Mobile certified repair store, it took them one month to tell me they couldn't fix it, they said they opened it, changed the battery and it still had the same problem so they also gave up and gave it to me, they did say the problem could be the motherboard. I'm now living in Brazil and getting a motherboard for the c6602 is impossible first of all because the phone was never commercialized here (and importing is impossible, it'd take 2.5 months and they'd charge me 200% of the part price, unfortunately that's how Brazil works ). Something interesting that happened is that when I got my phone back they had solved the bootloop issue but they created another issue, the phone starts makes all the sounds the screen turns on BUT all you can see in the screen is the black color, so the backlight is on but nothing shows up.
Could I be able to fix this via software? or the only option is changing the motherboard (or maybe fixing something on it)?
If any of you knows how to fix this I'd appreciate an answer.

How do you know it isn't a display problem?

Because I sent it to sony and they said the problem was the motherboard and the problems the phone's been giving are pretty random, for example at the beginning the problem was that it had random reboot each one with more frequency, it when from that to just work with the ac adapter connected, it went from that to a bootloop of just showing the sony logo and restarting, after I got it from sony the problem is that it boots app (without needing to be connected) it makes all the sounds like it was working perfectly but the screen is ON but black. So because all this I'm convinced it's the motherboard.
I see changing the battery didn't fix your problem.
I think it's so sad that this phone with just more than a year of life are getting this serious problems and sony isn't doing **** to help us. They keps my phone 1 month just to tell me that it couldn't get fixed, they said they changed the battery and all but still the same problem. I've reached a point when I just don't trust sony anymore, I'm getting a galaxy s4 on monday but still I wanna fix this crappy-phone.
Well, in my case it happened out of nowhere, I wasn't doing anything special with the phone..., I'm thinking maybe restoring the TA partition would fix something? I don't know... I found the motherboard for 80 euros in aliexpress

Xiaomi Mi5 64GB bricked?!

Hi all,
I just woke up mid sleep to notice my mi5 being super hot! I may have fell asleep on it watching youtube or something.
Now the phone is in the situation where the display will not work, nor any led indicators or touch button lights will turn on.
Fastboot works, and ive attempted to use MiFlash to flash the latest china and global rom, both not working and result in the MTP continuously being connected and disconnected in device manager (Im using windows 10)
Has anyone experienced this before?
Also will i be covered under any sort of warranty? being purchased of GeekBuying internationally im worried i just have a paperweight now!
TIA.
try windows 8 or 7 maybe.
Doesnt seem to be a problem as MiFlash has said it has flash it completely.
Correct me if wrong, regardless fastboot should still show the fastboot screen if im correct? Could it by chance fried my or heat damaged my LCD? as i did recall it being unreasonably hot!

same here, i tried almost every ROMs from Android 6 (CM/MIUI/ASOP) to Android 7.xx (MIUI China, and RR...)
The touch screen will suddenly have no response until i force rebooting the phone.
However, it seems hardware-related issue, i had found the touch not work while entering TWRP (the ROM is not loaded yet).
Next step, i will try to teardown it and re-assemble to see the method works or not.

hi, i tried to teardown my phone and re-connect all connectors, but the touch screen will still be no response after a while.
does anyone have any other idea?
Its probably hardware problem, as i don't stay long enough in recovery to notice the issue or unable to notice it because all you do is press and not a lot of swipes, and another problem is that its almost impossible to buy a new original oem screen, all those sellers on aliexpress claiming to sell new screens in reality just sell a refurbished screen with very low quality, it looks like the old saying "if its made in china its
sh*it" is true, yes most phones are Chinese but they are older companies, better engineering, more experienced, yes issues like this also happen with them but a lot rarer, but here it looks like 10%off all sold phones have problem, some same as ours some worst, and i was typing this for so long, i try to type one letter, another one is pressed or none at all ?
Have you tried flashing Stock ROM ? If you don't then please give try.
earlier versions of TWRP had this issue but only in TWRP. Now it's fixed. And some devices doesn't support such custom kernel and causes problem with nav button.
So first flash thw stock rom and see if the problem exist or not.

I am currently on stock global beta firmware and still facing the same issue, no root not costume recovery and still facing the same issue, now i almost sure that its a hardware problem, like many other users that face it ?
Okay you can post this one to MIUI forum. Try submitting an issue there. Hope you'd get some solution.
I don't think there is another solution other than changing the screen, but thanks anyway
i thing this is the hardware issue, anybody can detect the problem?

While the touch screen lose response, you can press middle part of mi5 (i.e. the connector) vigorously without shutdown the phone. And then, you can find the touch screen will work again. Therefore, in my case, that indeed a hardware issue.

Can you explain this better? I have the same issue, if there's a way to fix it without reboot I want to try it, but I don't understand where/what I should "vigorously press"...
For your reference.
I had touchscreen problem at the beginning when I received it from Gearbest in 2016. It would take much time to send it back and forth so I decided to flash it with a newer Global stable rom (I think I was Miui7) by myself; after that, the problem was 95% gone, (it still happened sometimes but not severe). Lately, I cable updated it to Miui 9 Global Stable and the problem was back and severe.
I TWRP installed Miui 9 Global developer Rom - not working
TWRP LineageOS 14.1 - not working
There are no points to use LineageOS 14.1 if the touchscreen problem is still there.
So I TWRP cleared data and cable-installed Miui 9 developer Rom, and The problem is completely GONE!!!!
Maybe you could try some of the steps above.
I also change my charger from 2V to 1V output after installing, and only charge it from the wall socket. (I used to charge from the extension ones more)
I only installed necessary apps at the beginning then gradually add more.
Hope that would help!!

Maybe a mother board issue or battery ... Had the same with a leeco le3 pro, first I changed the battery. Fix the issue for two weeks and after that the red blinking come again and I conclude as a mother board issue. In this case you only have to buy other phone or change the motherboard. You can try it, the battery cost only 9$ for mi mix (I change mine recently).
I had same with mi3 (with a drop from a 5cm. Motherboard)
Have you tried a deep flash cable?

Question Mi 11 Ultra Dead screen

Hello all,
I've been using my MI 11 ultra with the Xiaomi.eu latest stable version for months and never had any issue. Today, I was making a videocall on Whatsapp, and after hanging up the phone, the screen just turned black and never came back.
I tried to reboot on fastbook/recovery, but seems like the screen is just dead. Things that I tried.
- Plug in the phone charger (nothing happens)
- Force restart phone by holding the power button (It makes a little vibration like it's rebooting, but nothing happens after this)
- If I connect my phone to my laptop, it detects the phone as MTP, but I can't do anything with it.
- I tried to list device through ADB, but I doesn't appear in the list.
I have no clue what to do, at the moment it died, I wasn't doing anything special, I thought It would be because of the heat, but the phone wasn't hot.
It's really weird. Is there anything else I can do? Am I missing something?
Thank you in advance!
I think it's time to take your phone to service center...

Agreed!!!
has anyone sent the phone back to china for screen repair during the warranty period? Wonder how the process works.
Warranty with Eu. rom?! highly doubtful.
if you can fastboot your device, i'd suggest that you install original rom. (DONT LOCK BOOTLOADER). then jump to fastboot again and lock your bootloader. then send it for warranty. I don't think you'll need the screen to do that.
dont worry about device access and boot inside, doesnt matter.
Thank you all for the answers.
I stil have my last breath of hope, I found someone who had a similar issue with an Mi 11 => https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/black-screen-on-mi-11-ultra.63498/
I wasn't expecting it for this phone, you never expect this kind of weird issue from a 1k phone hahaha. It never happened to me and I've been flashing my Xiaomi devices since 2010
I'll try one last time, the back screen is not responding neither and as far as i know, they have different video controllers and since my computer can recognize it, I still have some hope.
This issue got me on vacation in the middle of the rain forest, and as you can imagen, internet here goes really slow.
I'm trying to download all the stuff that I need and once i have it, I'll try to restore my phone. I'll update you all with the results
Thanks in advance!
that would be great because if one of us should have the same problem then he can look in here and help himself
Hey all,
After fastboot, nothing changed unfortunately, I think I'll need to send it to warranty.
thank you all for the help

I had similar problems on my samsung galaxy a12. I flashed older fimware and the screen would just not work, it would be pitch black 24/7 no matter what I have done. I had to blindly enter in to odin_mode and flash new fimware. Similar thing is for you, try blindly booting in to fastboot or what ever you and flash the orginal ROM and don't use EU one because they probably wount accept it with in the warranty. AND UNDER NO CONDITION, DO NOT RE-LOCK THE BOOTLOADER
Hello all,
I have fresh, happy and weird update!
I was decided to send my phone to service center, I was just waiting to come back to Spain from my vacation, meantime, my phone was between my clothes since my last update.
Today I took it again while I was packing my things and voila! Screen is working again
My guess is that after taking a heavy rain, it got wet somehow (I say this because it supposed to be waterproof) and this caused the screen issue (3 days after the my rainy day).
Leaving the phone between my clothes, it my helped to dry out any water that could have leaked inside and phone is working again.
So, what I learned from this experience, never trust the waterproof certificate, hahahha.
I think once I'm back home, I'll put the phone on the water and try make the issue happen again, then send it to the SAT.
Thank you all!

Warranty doesn't cover water damage as far as I know
You might be safer not trying to repeat the experiment
