Alright I am stuck. I am getting no notification on the notification bar for gmail. Every other app is fine. If I go in to gmail the email is waiting for me. I have done a full factory reset and no luck. Notifications is turned on for gmail. Does anyone else have issues with gmail?
Go to application manager and click on gmail. Is notifications checked?

I got it, I forgot you had to tun on notifications per label/folder. The main inbox was checked, its just when I was testing it those were going to updates inbox/label. Duh moment.
If I'm in the messaging app viewing a message from someone, if that same person then sends me another message, there is no notification sound. If I happen to be looking away from the screen I might miss it. Is this normal?

Hello guys.
I hope someone knows the answer to this because I can't find any information anywhere about it.
When I get a FB message on my Urbane all I get is a notification that I have a message. Ironically, there is an option to reply, but if you can't see the actual message while would you reply?
The notification for whatsapp messages on the other hand, includes the actual message as it should be. Messenger may well be the only app that doesn't do this.
On my Samsung Gear S Android, FB messenger worked like whatsapp, but I sold it before I could apply the Wear update to see if the issue is related to Android Wear.
Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks.
I believe you have to turn on notification preview in the Facebook messenger app itself to get message to show up on the watch.

you sir are a genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you so much!
Hello,
I am using the Google Messenger as my default app and I would like to customize the "outgoing message sounds". However, the app only allows one to edit the sound for incoming messages. Is there a way/trick to edit the "outgoing message sounds"? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
...in other words, if an app doesn't allow you to change notification sounds, is there a way to do that with root? Please help, it's driving me crazy.
Thank you in advace.

Hello guys,
After I updated to 9.1,i noticed a weird behavior in the notification bar.
Before the update, when I had email notifications I had two options, to either click on the top right arrow of the email banner and expand the emails (some of them only shown) in the drop down notification menu, or to click directly on the banner and afterwards I was redirected in the email app, showing the inbox list.
After the update, if I click on the Gmail banner, it only expands the emails, regardless of I click on the arrow or wherever, but I have to select a particular email in order to be redirected to the Gmail app;after that it takes me straight to this particular email and not to the email list of the app, whereas before it was taking me to the email list.
I take it that this is either a bug, or a change of function.
The question is, is there any way to change the function? I am using my work email in which I receive maybe 600-1000emails per day and it is a PITA to get in a random email first and then to have to go back in order to see the email list..
Any ideas? Am I missing something?
P. S: of course this behaviour is not only in the Gmail app, but in all apps with multiple notifications
Cheers
T

Maybe it is a new function since some people complained about not being able to expand notifications
Same here!
And it's really annoying...
Looking for a way to get it back

But we were always able to expand notifications by pressing on the top right arrow on the notification bar[emoji849][emoji848]

Yes we were!
So that's why I don't understand this regression?

I have no idea really. I was using this function maybe 50 times per day and now I have to bother going straight to the app, Gmail notifications are now useless to me given that I receive more than 600 emails per day, so the 3-4 expanded emails are pointless if I then have to go back, then go to the second home screen, then click again the app, to go to the same point I was with only one click before the update.. Maybe try one of the many email apps that might work for your specific needs? Gmail app is fine for average users not power users with so many emails.
Things change and our Huawei device is meant for consumers.
Good luck!

But it is not only the email app thingy, this is a change in the function of the notifications as a whole, it is just more of a pita with my email because I am checking it all the time..
Regerdless of the app, all the notifications now only expand and do not redirect you to the native app, but only to a particular notification. It is just stupid, they changed they way the notifications have been since android implemented more than a single notification for the apps. The primary function should be to take you in the app itself.. [emoji23]

Hmm I wasn't able to check that function yet but I do see a option in the Gmail app that only allows the one initial notification. Inbox notifications >> notify only once. Maybe that would work for you.
Cheers

Thanks for the input mate. However as I said, this is not a Gmail issue per se, but a general change in function of the notifications, regardless of the app.
In order to elaborate, let's say that you have WhatsApp notification in the bar (more than one single msg).. When you click on the notification it just expands, you cannot be redirected in the app, you can only click on one of the notifications and go straight into this particular msg.
Same applies to FB, to play store updates, to whatever app.
Let's hope that they will change this in the next updates.

It's pissing me off too...
I am sure it is a Huawei thing, since the last update retained the same android version and just upgraded the Emui ver..

Unfortunately the problem persists, even after. 328 update.
I really wish that we could somehow change the function. It is really pita to have to either go directly to one of the msgs in the notification, or to have to go back and then enter the app from the app menu of homescreen. Totally counterintuitive.

Really don't understand why they screwed this...
Same on p30pro
What about mate or other series?
As said : Anyone with an other phone brand / rom (if rooted) could check if this only happens with the last huawei updates?
Need to know if it only huawei 'pitifully' related :'(
