Hi, i've extreme dust in the main cam of the Maze Alpha. Anyone else have this Problem and have fixed it?
You have to remove back cover, unscrew upper back plate and clean the lenses... Unfortunately the variety will be void (there's a sticker on one screw), probably the 4G antenna will be destroyed (a small copper sticker on the top right corner) and it's a pain in the ... to glue the back cover.
I would suggest, if you still have a warranty or something of that nature, to return it. Another thing is to look for a good technician to do the cleaning of the lens for you. I would advise you not to do the opening of the phone by yourself.

Can any body else with ATT tilt take the battery cover off and see if it says void in white letters in the 3rd hole closer to the right (last one on the right after the antena) very strange I never noticed this before.
Maybe non tilt peeps can see as well. Thanks
AT&T Tilt: The bottom right screw on mine has a void cover over it.

Lol! Too funny!
Void? Sometimes is about warranty.
Some company, for trying to be sure you won't try to fix something and then decide to give it back to them for an exchange, they put this stickers and the idea of VOID is that, if you remove that sticker, then your warranty is void, cause you tried to "fix" instead of send it to them.
What he is talking about, is NOT a sticker. Its something INSIDE the 3rd home from the right. You have the two GPS plugs on the left, above the camera port, and between the camera port, and the speaker, is a 3rd small hole, and inside says VOID. Again, its not a sticker placed over a hole, but something about 1MM down INSIDE a hole. I have the same "void" showing on my phone.
Good god, seriously? Can't anyone search?
It's a water damage sticker. It turns red/orange if it's wet. Feel free to try it.
It IS a sticker

It actually IS a sticker. It is made of a hard, brittle plastic that is designed to break up and fall apart if an attempt is made to remove it. My AT&T Tilt had one over the lower right screw. On your phone, the sticker is stuck to the top of the torx head screw, which is recessed about 1mm in the hole.
Like someone else said, if you return the phone and sticker is gone, No warranty return for you.
It is not the water damage sticker. The water damage sticker is yellow/off white, square, and doesn't say "void". It turns red/pink when exposed to water. There is one inside the battery compartment and one or two inside the phone (stuck to the mainboard). They serve much the same purpose, though. If they have changed color, no warranty return for you.
Thanks for the info. I thought that the VOID sticker was part of a shock detection system, that if dropped, moved the void word into view, thus voiding the phone. I guess a big dent in the case does the same job.
Hahah almost right after I got my tilt, i poked that gently and it went through.
*Facepalm*
A couple days ago, i've find some little pieces of dust in the front camera. The annoying part is that they affect the photos . Is there a way to remove it? I know the front camera is inside the "gorilla" glass, but could it be taken off?
Thanks!!
Anyone?
I believe this will qualify for warranty replacement

Could you tell me more about this? I have dust specs in my FFC too now.
I also found some dust in the FFC of my I9000. I wanted to replace it but it only got sent to service and cleaned. Unfortunately dust is beginning to show again :/. It may be some defect in the construction of the phone.
It's due to the horrible placement of the headphone jack and bad quality components. Dust is getting in through the 3.5mm jack into the front camera. Solution: take a can of compressed air and spray it into the headphone jack until the dust is no longer on the lens. It could make things worse but it was beneficial in my case. I've been hoping someone would make some sort of plastic plug to cover the hole.
If you want a rubber plug check this stuff out...

Please where are water damage indicators on tab and how they suppose to look. (pics would be nice).
google din't help, and Ifixit pics din't reveal any clues.
I would like to use warranty by I have no idea if water or something else is the problem (kid was using it when it supposedly died ).
And I suspect water is/was the problem.
Thank YOU.
oh and in case of brand difference. It's AT&T tab.
update.
Water damage indicator is on the back cover of the tab close to connector. (a small square sticker (5x5mm) - its visible on ifixit last picture.
Openig was much easier than expected - with a lot of patience SAFE. (I am not responsible for damage you do ... its just description how I did open mine)
You need #0 Y screwdriver.
1 plastick knife (I sugest get something better as pry tool.)
1 old credit card (cut it in about 3-5mm stripes)
1 needle
take of screws (just remove the black stickers, sugest use needle as pry tool (don't make holes into them). (push on the crewdriver so you don't strip the head)
You don't need pry tool you need something to wedge in to make opening for the ONE creditcard stripe. Something like flat plastick screwdriver. (I modified plastick knife for that)
Dont use anything hard or round as it will make markings on the cover (like screwdriver).
Maybe even the creditcard itself can by modified to be good enought to make the space for the stripes.
now how to... pry open. (don't pry it will go on its own, nearly)
avoid pry !!! on:
TOP of the tab (not realy neded to open top)
speakers+3-4mm
mic
buttons
SIM,SD cards
!!! conection to display (chceck iFixit and youtube videos)
at bottom close to corners and screw openings you should insert stripes (avoid the speakers and add 3mm cause of insulation)
at sides... every where you can except the places I mentioned, but you MUST put someting close to corners - (all 6 places togehter (2left,2right,2bottom)
The Corners are the bigest problem so take extra care so you don't damage anything.
As Corners I mean close to the round part, but not the round part itself.
When you finish putting all the stripes everywhere possible it should be VERY easy to open ... (turn it upside down...) or gently push by connector.
After you mange to open it a bit... there is good place in the corners to pry on.
Don't pull, you will strip the holders. put credit card stripes where it still hold.
Now some more advice:
Fingerpritns are problem - so take care.
battery has two stickers holding it in place (bottom and top) and screw
I suggest after you remove the battery put on the stickers something to cover them (they atract dust, fibers) - I sugest put on them piece of the old creditcard
At some places I used more than one stripe of creditcard -but I think it was not necessary
Oh in case ... I pry between screen and plastick cover. , cause I seen someone trying opening the rear part of the cover and that is BAD IDEA.
Hope it helps someone..
There won't be any way of telling without taking to back off, and and I guess that'll void your warranty. Send it in and and and suspect its died due to water and they can check.

It is not possible to open it safely? I was hoping that I can.

Not without voiding. You can open it, but the probably won't accept bit for repair.
I'd suggest sending it in as so so you can, explain the problem, say you think it's caused by water damage but your not sure as you didn't have it when it died.

i have 1 of mine apart to replace the screen and i have found no moisture tags. on the Inside. It's a tmobile Tab. to open right requires a couple of special tools, you can get then at Ifixit.com i had to buy the Ydriver its the Y-0. and a plastic tool to remove the cover without scratching it.
hope this helps.
Karl
yes I guess that I need at least Tri-wing screwdriver size #0 or #00 not shure which.
Size y0 at ifixid was the only place where they use Y0.. every where else its #0 or #00.
Not shure which one. Web is full of Tri-wing screwdrivers for WII and DS etc but no mention of size. So I will buy both sizes. I need to be sure that it's clean from inside before I ask samsung to fixit.
The marker might be on the battery somewhere
swyped from a galaxy far far away...
it is a Y-0 not 00
just to save ya $9
Karl
I confirm #0 as the right one. #1 too big #00 looks a bit too small.
Hello
So, I have a the HTC One M7 and its front cam is damaged... I don't mean like shattered, but it takes horrible photos, all grainy and white... I figured out, that there is alot of dust inside of the camera, so I need to replace it. But here I place this question: How do I glue back the back side of the housing, when I take it down. Do I have to buy new housing, some adhesive or it glues back on with no problem? I would really appriciate any kind of response. Thank you!

The phone is snapped in the housing, no need to glue it. Would strongly recommend to buy a new housing, you'll probably damage it when opening the phone. Make sure you have the right tools before proceeding ( opening tool, screwdrivers, tweezers etc).
Hi guys,
has anyone of you tried changing the front glass without digitizer and display?
In disassembly videos I can only see people changing the whole thing.
Also, do you think I can manage to repair the front glas as well as the USB port with just an iron instead of a hot air blower (and the usual tools made of plastic)?
Thanks in advance!

I haven't done the front glass on mine yet, but my understanding is that in general you're really better off replacing front glass as an entire unit with digitizer and display. An iron on pretty low through a cloth/towel might well work. It's not just glue that melts, it's a thin strip of rubber gasket material with adhesive (okay, maybe it's thick glue, but it looked pre-formed to me) holding the glass back cover on.
Heating probably helps a bit with softening the stuff, but after the first time you peel it up you won't really need to do that again. I'd recommend picking a corner (say, bottom left as you're looking at the back) and just plan on prying from there every time, so you only have one spot where the plastic gets marred.
Don't spend too much time heating, worry more about having a suction cup tool that you can lift with while you try to work a guitar pick or hobby knife or something in under the corner. Have at least two ready, so you can wedge one in, and work your way around without it just dropping back down on you. You'll probably tear the material a bit but that's okay, just spread it back out evenly around the edge on the glass before you put the cover back on. Also, you definitely should be using a case to make sure it doesn't just fall off in your pocket once you've opened it up a couple times.
USB cable replacement isn't awful, just time consuming. The biggest gotcha is to keep all three of the little gold clips on the plastic "mid frame" ring (that's the first thing you remove that requires screws after getting the back glass up) from fallling and getting lost.
You can PM me if you have any questions about this, I've replaced my USB cable/port assembly a couple times (first replacement was defective). And I'm about to attempt replacing the screen as a whole unit with glass & digitizer on my wife's Z2 Plus, so I'll let you know how that goes.
