I would love to be able to use the wide angle lens for shooting time lapse videos. Anyone know how to make this happen?

Hi volks and p20 pro experts,
i wonder if my 3xtelelens really works or not.
If I zoom 3x and block the 40mp lens with my fingers and let the tele lens free, I see nothing.
Also I see no noticeable better shots when shooting 5x zoom with blocking the telelens or blocking not.
Do anyone know if this is normal behavior, or is this a brocken telelens.
I am on CLT-L29 8.1.0.131(C432)
Thank you all

Depends on the conditions. Blocking lenses won't help because it will be using sensor data from all the lenses to get the best shot. You may just be blocking the lens that is showing you the preview on the phone screen.
Mine works and if I block the tele lens I see nothing, but bear in mind that you have to focus at something far for it to work or else it uses the digital zoom with main sensor. You can note that the tele works but seeing the ois starting to work in your display. I usually takes one two seconds to switch lens

You can check the EXIF data from your shots to see which lens was actually used (the small i-Button in the top left, when you're viewing a picture in the gallery). If it states f1.8, it was the "normal" lens, if you see f2.4, it's the tele lens. Note that closeups will always be taken with the normal lens. If you want to shoot a close up with the tele lens, you need to be farther away, like at least one meter.
I'm a bit disappointed in the required zoom for super slo-mo. I think it's safe to assume there is no way to zoom out, so I'm wondering about the logic in forcing the zoom. My guess is that both cameras are used at the same time, shooting at 480fps, alternating frames, allowing for 960fps shooting when combined. I think some of the blurriness of the mode comes from having to apply a digital enlargement to the wide-angle camera so that it matches the telephoto lens. Any other guesses?
Dunno but I took a video of a hummingbird today and thought while neat the quality sucked.
Has Anyone else noticed that the front camera is capable of taking much wider picture? ?? if you switch mode from SELFIE to Wide Selfie, you'll notice that the camera is capable of taking much wider angle picture. wonder why sammy didn't use this? regular SELFIE seems to crop significant amount of picture..
The front facing camera is usually used for taking photos of your face, this is why, by default it is set to normal mode, not wide.

Yeah that's been advertised since about two notes ago.
But you have to pan back and forth in wide selfie. Like a panorama.
i understand you have to pan it back and forth, but even not panning it's still covers wider angle than just regular "selfie". it would be nice to be able to capture wider on front camera. which is what Pixel 3 is doing.

I compared and saw no difference in coverage area if I didnt pan.
Is there a way to get the Super Macro mode to work using the 5X lens?
On the P30, I can use the 3X zoom lens with super macro, but on the P30 pro, I can't and can use the 1X at best.
So the P30 can zoom in much further in super macro mode.
The best lens for super macro is the wide-angle
Super Macro is based on the ability of the camera to focus at a short distance - the way the 5x telephoto lens has been configured is with the aim of long-distance focus, so it physically cannot focus on something closer than a certain distance. I've not tested it myself, but believe it to be about 1m-1.5m away from the phone.
As above, though, the wide angle lens makes for the best Macro shots in my testing.
Hi All,
Is there anyway to enable 4K Video with the wide Angle lens (0.5x zoom) in S20FE 5G Snap?
It already supports 4K with the normal lens (1x or no zoom)
I would really appreciate it if you could help me with this.
Thanks

does the sensor for the wide angle lens have enough resolution after cropping in to do 4K ?
figure that out first so you're not wasting your time if it doesn't.
I think there's only one image sensor for all modes.
It seems to be a limitation enforced by the samsung camera app.
I installed gcam and it allows 4k at 30fps in wide angle mode.
I can't say I now for a fact but I'm thinking Samsung either turned it off to keep the regular S line a step above or like other phones it causes heating really fast and you're limited in how long it can do it.
