OnePlus 3T from Yaantra - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

is it worth to buy acceptable OnePlus 3t from Yaantra ??

Yes, I'm using one right now. But the phone you receive will be completely random, so better to check for defects as soon as you get them. Also run quikr's certified app to test the phone.

Since devices are at random, there may be a defect one.
This user has had a problem with Yaantra, read over here.

Fear of Recycled Device - Is your exchanged device better?

I love the nexus 7. My device had the screen lifting issue and I am getting it exchanged. No complains with the exchange policy or the timing. Understand first batch of hardware faces problems but thats a small price to pay for being the early adopter.
What I am concerned with - given how prominent this screen lifting issue is- i hope google/asus is not recycling. That is, i hope they don't take my device, tightened the screw/put on new ones, factory reset, wipe it, put it in a new box and ship it out to the next guy. Coz that means the device i'm getting soon will be someone else's failed device; and given i have already tightened my screw without success, i am wary of my next device showing the same kinda progression after some use.
Furthermore, what if i get a device that had more screen issues that some unlucky folks here are talking about (i feel for them, but mine was perfect, i love the device and every aspect of it, except for just the screen listing issue). I don't want to end up with a hardware that has experienced the screen lifting issue (hence returned and recycled) and/or other screen issues that few folks have talked about. I want a brand new device - from a new batch - but i know that may be asking too much.
What do you guys think? Anybody got their's exchanged yet? If so, what are your experiences with the second device?
I guess it depends on what they told you when you asked for a replacement. If they said you were getting a new then that's what you will get. And honestly at this point they probably don't even have stocks of refurbs yet so they couldn't even send you one if they wanted.

Well, they just said "we'll send you a replacement". Did not mention new or refurb. As for stock running out, I had to be on hold for about 30 minutes (high call volume). So i'm guessing there's a lot of devices coming back and i am wondering if those will be sold later as refurbished products or sent right back out? I don't know manufacturer policies, do all devices that get sent back (even within the first two weeks) fall in the refurb category?
I just ordered a replacement for mine too for the same reason and the replacement order actually says "Nexus 7 16GB Tablet UK - New", so if there are any signs of the one I receive being anything but brand new, I will be very unhappy!
As noted, since our orders say "New" on them, Google would be breaking all sorts of laws if they send out refurbs as new.

Wanna buy but afraid

The N7 isnt being sold in my country, so some friends will be visiting the USA this month and i want them to buy me one. The thing is, after reading about some of the problems the device has, and people returning it 3-4-5 times, im afraid im gonna get a defective device and then im screwed cuz i wont have any store to go and replace it.
My Nexus7 has no problems at all and I love it. Its well worth the price I paid for the 16GB.

I'm from India and I'm also afraid about product quality. Here getting 8GB model for $250. I want to know, is nexus 7 supports USB on the go feature so that I can use pen drive for external storage? and what are cons you guys faced with your nexus 7 yet?
Guys, don't step out in the road, you have more chance of getting hit by a bus than you have of getting a bad N7!
The N7 works with all kinds of external storage but you need to root it first, there's good instructions on what to do on these forums when you need them.
/edit, just had a thought, those might not be very good odds in India
As someone who has received three units with screen lifting, I wouldn't caution you as strongly as you might expect me to.
That's the only really common defect, and in most cases it is not severe enough to affect usage. The last two I received have been minor cases of separation. The reason I won't accept this flaw is because of the possibility that it will worsen over time, but keep in mind that this is speculative.
My experience with the device has been overwhelmingly positive aside from this, and if the Nexus 7 is right for you then it may be worth purchasing even if you do get one with the kind of separation I've been dealing with. Although the warranty friendly fixes have been found to be temporary, if it bothers you that much then good old fashioned super glue will do the trick. Many who have gone through multiple returns have decided that they like the tablet enough to dispense with this RMA business and jimmy it down themselves.
Don't let anyone tell you that screen lifting is a rare thing, but it's not the end of the world. This is a great device even with the fault.
You can get your friend to check it for you and if its bad return it on the spot.

I'm new in this forum and know nothing about rooting, but I would love to root my nexus 7 if someone give me link to proper instructions.
And yea the price for 8GB Nexus 7 is best anyone can get in India right now. On ebay india it costs approx 320$ for 8GB N7.
So buying N7 8GB for 8GB is a great deal for me.
Is there any chance that by now there is an already free defects batch rolling out?
I remember when the HTC Sensation came out it had also multiple issues. I bought mine about 5 months later and had no issues at all. I cant do it here because either i buy it this month or i wont buy it at all
:bump:
@Dr. Sheldon take a look at the android development sub-section in the Nexus 7 forum. There are several methods of rooting the device, most of them requires little interactions with the device.
Also, the ones who have had defects are among the thousands who haven't encountered any problems, so your odds should be pretty good. Best luck to you mate.

Don't be afraid, that's what Apple want to to feel. That's where this whole myth of Nexus7 problems originate from...
The vast majority of Nexus7's are fine. You only hear about the ones with problems.. (or claimed problems. I suspect only 10% of those are genuine, the other 90% Apple viral marketing at work).
People here are saying there's a small amount of defective n7s but I'm on my third one. First 2 had dead pixels, and my current one has screen lift. Guess I have extremely bad luck
I got mine overseas and notice screen flickering and screen tear the first day.
I also cannot return it.
But I pop it open (easy enough) and tighten the screw, it seems to fix the screen tear.
Only notice the tear once yesterday after a whole week. And people on forum already has solution for flickering.
So I cannot settle if it is hardware or software related.
I think for the price of half an iPad, it is lighter and smaller.
So I can definitely deal with the small imperfection.
So go ahead and get it.

The very vocal minority here may have problems, but the majority (the 99% lol) have no issues. If there was a global issue, I'm sure you'd hear about it on NBC/Fox/CrApple News/etc. I have my Nexus, no issues and I love the thing. Great device and no regrets!

Hi Dr. Sheldon
I have hours worth of videos on the Nexus 7. Showing OTG functionality(mouse/keyboard, remotes, usb hubs, controllers, camera connection and control), how to root, comparison, NFC in action, streaming your desktop screen, and more. My youtube channel is down below in the signature. But these are my perspective. There are allot of great videos others are publishing showing all the good and bad from different viewpoint. As a developer and hobby android developer, this is a great device. This is a great forum and community that will really unlock allot of potential in the Nexus 7, the most interesting sub-forum in my opinion is the Nexus 7 Developer.
For rooting Nexus 7, this is a very comprehensive video that was put together: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrZaU5i2x4w&hd=1
Best Regards

There is no such thing. There will always be a number of defective devices for various reasons when things are mass produced. The number of issues you are seeing in the forum is skewed as most people who have no issues, rarely use forums or post about their experiences.
I've now touched and used 5 brand new 16gb Nexus 7's out of the box and they were all fine. The first was in the first initial pre-launch batches with the latest being 3 days ago. I know that others have had issues but that is the experience that I've been seeing.
I got my 2nd one today and it has screen lift and burn in.
I'm getting a refund.

Help regarding Mi3 indian ver

Hey guys from many time i am thinking to buy mi3 but i am thinking is the indian ver really realiabe for long term use as i usually dont change phone for 2 Years.also i am reading reviews regarding people getting defective piece from flipkart.and flipkart also not listening for replacement once you pay for the phone. Is it safe to buy this phone from flipkart?as i have not yet bought anything from flipkart.plz help me
Sent from my WT19i using xda premium
Firstly it is very reliable according to me. There's is a small chance of a manufacturing defect. Every phone has it. My HTC had it too.
Secondly the phone is no longer available on Flipkart.
I am not talking about normal manufacturing defefts.i am talking abt big one.like call speaker not working.touch screen problem.etc.etc.we cant live with these defects.it is temporary not available.but i am sure it will be available after some time
Sent from my WT19i using xda premium
That could be an issue with any phone. But most phones don't have any defect. Mine didn't have. Also I talked to the customer care guy and he told me that in case of any problem Flipkart would replace it or the service center guys would fix it without any extra charge.
Yea, maybe in a month or so it'll be available again.
its worth buying, go get it.... i had mine and have no defects.....
lol. Even if you decided to buy one now, U won't get it . Cool device mate. Just go for it. if you don't like it... sell it. ppl will die for one.

Well few defects are being reported as seem the new lot has it as I bought almost 5 phones till now gifting my brother and sis and few to xda user and till now just one reported of heating issue which was replaced in a day by flipkart after approval of return which took 2 days.
Great Hardware.
I am using one from last two weeks and i can say hardware is greeeeat. From hardware prospective only downside is limited internal storage.
Flipcart is very safe if you buy anything from WSRetail.
However when it comes to software I really did not like MIUI (can also say hate it) . It is heavily customized fork of Andriod and not in a good way. It's stable releases are also full of bugs and useless features. MIUI forum is full of fan boys and their dev team seems like more focused on features than stability, and don't get me started on the UI of V6, which resembles IOS in so many ways
If you are a fan of rooting, Xposed and tweaking you would not like MIUI at all. You can do all this but not in normal easy way. If you are a regular/normal user then it is the device for you.
They stopped it's sale for couple of months now so you need to wait till then.
On a side note, If Varun will not come up with a fully working CM without kernel sources in next few weeks then I might think to sell mine.
Don't go for it now. Wait for Mi4 or xiaomi to make spares available. Check this out for more info

Will Oneplus 3T be also pissed off in 6 months by Oneplus 4 !

As oneplus 3T is a controversial launch for all op3 owners and its dev community, this question came in my mind. We all know how oneplus is treating op2 after release of op3, I am just worried they are gonna do the same with Op3 by discontinuing it. And will the same happen with op3T also when again after few months they will come with another new flagship Op4...
As for now, they have proven to be mistrusted, so I'd say they'll discontinue just like they did before.
I don't think they'll be on a 6 month release schedule.
Finally, OnePlus told us this is not indicative of a new line-up and that users should not infer that there will be two separate SKUs (one being superior) in 2017 and beyond — they claim that the OnePlus 3T is a situational phenomenon . . .

I expect they'll release the OP4 around this time next year or a bit earlier. This device mainly seems to be a challenge to the Pixel (and it serves to better position their releases for Christmas sales?)
Sell the 3T for $350 and get the 4, $100 every 6 months or $200 per year for a flagship product is one hell of a deal...
Hopefully there won't be an OP 4T, there will just be an OP 4 this time next year.
Best guess. There'll be a OP4 in six months and another OP device six months after that. This is what a smaller company does. This is what Chinese mobile phone companies do - they release new versions all the time and are continually releasing new devices with the latest hardware.

I think they see it as loosing their bragging rights, since they no longer have "the best" that company makes. It's irrational and somewhat childish, technology does move forward and the phone they bought didn't get any worst because of this (in fact it's still one of the very best around).
To finish my rambling:
1) Buy what you need, not what consumerism and marketing departments tells you to.
2) Once you do buy something, take the most out of it while it still works. I believe that is why we are all here at XDA, is it not?

This is silly. I still have an awesome phone, better software, greater development than virtually any phone, and have gotten great customer service from OnePlus. Every time I have had to deal with Customer Service/ Tech Support, they have been very helpful and answered all my questions, plus have been extremely efficient when handling various situations and when I had to RMA my device they emailedme almost daily to keep me abreast of what was happening with my device. They have already provided several updates and Nougat is in beta testing, but if you don't want to wait, there are plenty of third party Nougat roms already available. The reason they are available, they released all sources and posted stock roms. So I am not sure why you are so butt hurt and say they are proven to be mistrusted just because they released a new device?
Do you guys think it's better to wait for 1+4 or go with 1+3t?
I can resist... but i don't know if my Nexus5 can do it too.
I've read some of the rumors (2k, 4000mah), but i don't know if they can be trusted.
Sorry if i've made any mistakes, but i'm new :>
IMHO, wait if you can. If any of the rumoured specs are right, this should be a really good device! If you can't wait, check out the 3 on eBay. Now that the 3T is out, 3's are showing up for discounts. Seen them as cheap as $310.
Thanks.
I guess I'll wait...
The downside is that there is no specific date nor price around :/
You know, waiting and then it turns out that 1+4 costs 550/600€ would probably kill me...
Like Xiaomi did with Mi Note 2.
Thanks for the advice!

Don't wait.. If you really wanna buy a new phone, do it now. New devices will always come and manufactures themselves will always make them outdated in few months. So don't wait, buy Op3/Op3t whichever is available in your country and enjoy.
That's how it works.

Yea, i get your point.
But i prefer waiting (if my N5 allows me to ) and get a phone with a 2k screen.
1+3t will be available in one week from today... I'm gonna start to count six months from that day asd.

In what way they lied? Did they say that they won't release new phone before next year or what? Why they have to keep 1 year cycle? Because you want them to? What does it change for OP3 user? Their phone specs will get lower somehow? You are getting what you paid for but you expect to be the best for one whole year? Everyone will wait?
I am very happy that they improve, because why not? And it is actually not that they released new phone, they had to produce them more and it was probably just easier to put 821 and battery is just using different voltage.
A lot of butt-hurt here...

I get what you are saying, but that's just how customer point of view, not necessary what explicitly stated by the manufacturer. But, even if what you said is true about standard phones then exactly what exactly is standard? I mean Samsung have tons of phone out each year, and you could also say both the Galaxy S and Note series are just half a year apart, yes they are not exactly the same series of phone, but in many PoV, they are close enough. As far as the manufacturer PoV is concern, OP is considered relatively small company, making two similar phones simultaneously would cost more for them, and thus it make economic sense. But seriously, why would it bother you or anyone? I mean, it is stupid to think that they can't get better android phone half a year from now. Seriously, every month, there is at least a new android phone and most customers would look at the phone that suit them best, or whatever that have the latest and greatest features.
You mention the Samsung phones and yes they are similar but it isn't the exact same model.
Also the note and S series are aimed at different people. I wouldn't want a mobile any bigger than 5.5 and before the op3 I wasn't even sure i wanted to more up to 5.5
If they told customers they were releasing a 3T more people would have waited .
Also I can tell support for the OP3 is going to slowly fade away and be in the same position as the OP2

2K screen, or you mean UHD screen? I have a note 4 right now, and even Notebook w/ UHD, but seriously even after a year and looking at the current situation, i think it's a bit overrated. There still isn't a lot of app or software that take full advantage of that high res. Yes, the screen look nice but only to a certain point. In most cases, it won't be distinguishable from 1080p screen. What suck about it is that your graphic gaming performance will suffer because it's now 4 times the pixels it have to render, and also battery life. Hence I'm leaving the Note 4 to the OP3T.

is it the 3t really the upgrade they claim it to be?

Okay I haven't seen a thread for this yet I don't know anyone in person other than myself with this phone so can't just go ask a friend I'm sorry if there has been a thread for this already if so I searched and could not find it. So I bought my 3t it's been about a week and I'm really liking it. But I got a little curious about if the hardware is really what they claimed it to be in the 3t so I used cpu-z to check the hardware info. And it says I have the snapdragon 821 which is what's supposed to be in the 3t and I got the 128gb version which is also 3t exclusive and that is the correct storage that my phone says it has. Then I decided to check the battery tab to see if it's the 3400mah battery which to my disappointment it was not what was displayed. It says my battery is 3000mah which is what the original 3 has in it. Here are screenshots. If anyone else with a 3t could check this on their device and let me know it would be a great help. I've already contacted oneplus and started a dispute on this. I Googled the number cause I didn't know it off hand and I noticed it's an 858 are code which is San Diego county and also just a few minutes from where I live cause I live in the San Diego county so asked where the office is located and they said they can't tell me which is very shady in my opinion. Any insight and screenshots from others would be a great help. Only users with a 3t though please as this is hardware issue that relates to only the 3t sorry 3 users nothing against you. Sorry of there is already a thread for this if so please fell free to delete and if you don't mind pointing me in the right direction that would be appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone.

Make sure that you are using the latest cpu-z version, they fixed the battery reading for the 3T. It could also be the rom that you are running, on RR it also shows 3400mah for me.
I got cpu-z straight from the play store so it's definitely that latest version. And I am using the RR rom and I'm still getting this 3000mah displayed. So it know sound like I've been scammed and did not get the device I paid for. I'm so pissed now.

These two devices do not share the same model number like is being claimed everywhere. I specifically asked one plus about this when I called them. They assured that they are separate model numbers for each device.

Try downloading the aida64 app, it has always shown 3400mah under the battery category for me no matter what rom I run.

o.o isnt the device just more impressive if it has really good battery life but a smaller battery? Thus worth more money? I mean look at the pixel phones >.>
or the M8 phone
or the m9...
or the samsung s series...
or the iphone...
i think the points been made. The smaller the battery the more expensive the phone >.> so we got a bargain if thats the case!
Please try another diagnostic apps first such as AIDA64 before you claimed that OnePlus has scammed you.

I got my 3T a few weeks ago. And I have changing ROMs since then.. I do remember somewhere in between I did notice my battery to show up as 3000 mah. However, at that point I was anyways planning on doing a clean flash of RR Rom. So I went ahead with that and then on checking CPU-Z my battery shows 3400 mah now.
I'm running stock oxygen os on OnePlus 3t 128gb having same issue. Snapdragon 821 with 3000mAh battery with CPU-Z
Are there any other ways to check your battery size?
Edit: Did some googling, tried different app, shows 3400mAh. Tried dialing *#808# and scrolled down to charger and got 3400mAh looks like it may be an issue with the way OnePlus chose it's model numbers. Model A3000 doesn't only correspond to the 3t series of phones.
